There should be no confusion that the common Bangladeshis hate us and its not just Jamaat or Islamist in general. Hate for India has slowly been instilled in their mind through various half cooked misinformation and its huge now. Even the young educated is brainwashed to such an extent that they will blame us for anything wrong in their country. You can't have good relations with people who don't want you there. No need to be such benevolent.
I mean no wrong to any Bangladeshis but for me its simple, If they don't want us, don't like us and want to boycott us economically, let them do it. Its good. Pull out whatever we have there and let them figure out themselves. Utilise that energy to Protect our borders and secure our interests.
Beside the fight for power is yet to come in Bangladesh, all of the people who are in command right now in Bangladesh have dictatorial tendencies. Sooner or later it is going to fall in the hand of either military or the Islamists. USA will ensure that it happens. If they think outing Hasina has solved their problems, it's only going to get worse. Much sooner than later, Bangladesh will fall into the same trap a certain neighbour of ours is in today.

Their equivalents of BJP is BNP, Sangh parivar is Jamaat-e-Islami, and Congress is Awami League. Their Islamists hate their independence leader Sheikh Mujibur Rehman and his family just like our Sangh parivar hates Gandhi and Nehru. on August 5th, the students liberated the country from Indian subjugation. Mujibur Rahman had placed us in India’s lap, and his daughter had practically turned Bangladesh into an Indian colony. Ministers, generals, judges, and high officials in Bangladesh were appointed with Delhi's approval. The curriculum taught in educational institutions was prepared in India. Bangladesh constitutionally has never been an Islamic republic, nor did Ziaur Rahman change the constitution to adopt Islam as the state religion. It was general Ershad who did that around 1987-88. You called Zia a dictator but after assuming power luckily following a revolution on 7 November in 1975, he subsequently became president through democratic election and was and remains by far the most popular leader in Bangladesh since independence. Mujib to begin with held that position but very quickly became unpopular during his reign due to his failure as the head of the government.

India doesn’t gain anything by trading with Bangladesh. It’s irrelevant as a percentage of outward exports. Cheap Indian cotton subsidizes Bangladeshi textile industry. Indian power was requested by the Bangladeshi govt, it’s not like you have a choice . The trade deficit is a result of poor infrastructure and development of Bangladesh, it makes complete sense for Bangladesh to import goods cheaply from a bigger country. I came to watch this news piece on the Bangladesh events just after watching Shiv Aroor's take on the same topic. And wow, what a nice departure it is from his rant filled with some very flowery language - well, his news talk is just that, flowery language but not at all as appealing to listen to as what you have to offer which is not just the quality in-depth analysis of any topic, but even how well you explain it and get even the lay person interested in the subject with your talk. I think that that is difference between maturity that comes with years of hard work and experience and immaturity that comes with simply trying to shout all about the living room through the speakers of a prime time television.
Therefore, I would like to tell you something that I cannot tell many of the other news channels (TV or TH-cam) that exist today, and that is to ''keep up the good work''. Once again, thank you for your quality content.

Even though they turned a blind eye to their own hardline Hindu nationalist groups, Indian medias are going absolutely bonkers over a political party that barely managed to secure five seats in parliament of bangladesh. The only mistake Jamaat made was supporting Pakistan in 1971 and if that support came with crimes to the countrymen, that was punished and must me punished. Other than this, it is very modern and most democratic political party. Remember both BNP and BAL sought Jamaat support in need for political alliance. Research well, even a lot of Hindu will vote for Jamaat leader. Research and report, Respect.

A small correction Shekhar. It was Hussain Muhammad Ershad, Under his rule Bangladesh adopted Islam as the state's religion In the mid to late 1980s. It is said that it was done to gain votes In elections that was never Altered by successive governments. Only human rights organisations filed a court case against the Supreme Court of Bangladesh of which the final decision came only in 2022. Supreme Court of Bangladesh ruled that Bangladesh is Islamic at the same time a Democratic country. My only appeal to those who were part of this protest is that they should protest to secure the secular Republic of Bangladesh by dropping Islam from their constitution. I know many postmodernists would argue that the Presence of religion is only going to strengthen the secular ethos As people of South Asia are religious but I am not very sure. I like the Nehruian idea of a modern secular state which is Eloquently argued by Dipankar Gupta
