He begged me for money for petrol, so I gave him some, and he never paid it back. I asked every day, and it was always 'I'll get it to you tomorrow.' One day I mentioned it to a colleague and he said 'oh, yeah, you won't see that again.' Turns out he did this to all the newbies, and had done it to every single one of my colleagues until they wised up and he moved on to the next guy. When I found this out, I waited outside the locker room at lunch till he came out, then loudly demanded my money in front of everyone, including my manager. Lo and behold, he suddenly had the exact amount and gave it back.

the dude that learned sign language is so nice. it's legit heartwarming to know that there's people out there willing to accommodate their handicapped peers by learning to communicate with them non-verbally.

Same here...I studied ASL in the educational system for 3 years (not counting independent studies) and I can honestly say if you learn ASL for at least 3 months, you know more than enough know 600+ signs...which is not only enough for basic conversation in language you naturally know, but as well as to know deaf culture and grammar. It really is easier than learning pretty much any other spoken language.

Even after several years of being unemployed and being unemployed now I have had several people tell me to not even bother with Wall-Mart. I don’t even shop there let a lone want to work there.
I'll say it again. Guy who became friends and learned asl with the deaf guy is a champ. He's the type of person we all should strive to emulate.
I love the asl story I am learning it and started to when my granddaughter had hearing issues at birth I continue to be able to help customers that I serve who are deaf. Singing in sign is awesome and fun to learn. My granddaughter learned from me. My daughter was taught by my granddaughter lol. Beautiful language and necessary.
Youre a great grandparent for this, I hope your kindness and willingness to learn ASL is recognized
2:38 Never underestimate the deaf guy. I worked with one at my last job. His wife also worked there, and had slightly better hearing. Unfortunately the wife passed to cancer, so poor guy was left without his lunch mate and translator at work. He and I already talked to eachother sometimes, but after his wife was gone he had to ante up and start to talk more for himself. I also became one of the people who looked out for him. He was a real interesting guy once you dug in. He's one of the few I miss.
I was offered a job at an arcade in PA. I got to the point where they got to The job was to drive a truck up to NYC on Monday or Tuesday, have it loaded with arcade cabinets, drive it to a warehouse in a really seedy neighborhood near the docks outside of Philadelphia, and make sure everything gets unloaded quickly, reloaded with other arcade cabinets, and driven back to NYC on Thursday or Friday.
The thing is, the manager made it really clear to never open the cabinets, or ever get out of the truck even to go to the bathroom or eat, not to speak to anyone loading or unloading the cabinets, that the back of the truck was always locked without the key, and if I get pulled over, that I had to say it was my personal vehicle. I politely turned down the offer, despite being offered $2500 cash every week. One Monday, a few weeks later, the entire place was wiped out. No games, no decorations, no signs.... I wonder what they were up to... hmm...
I worked with a deaf guy we literally just wrote stuff down he was cool we just had like 3 whiteboards one in the office one downstairs and one he kept with his gear.
51:00 I briefly worked there. He's referring to SolarCity. And I can confirm, it was the shittiest job I ever had. The absolute worst. And also very, VERY corrupt. I was only able to endure 2 weeks on the job. We had to show up at a "team meeting" every single morning, at 7:00 AM, in a location super far away from our assignments. Oh, and also they were mandatory, even though we weren't getting paid for attending them. They lasted about an hour to two hours, so that was 10 hours roughly each week of unpaid company time. And every team member had to take turns buying refreshments out of their own pocket, naturally.
Then, there was the work itself. Grueling labor of trudging under the Southern California sun for nine hours every day, wearing heavy khaki slacks and thick cotton polo shirts that had to be worn over another shirt, so you were always sweating like crazy. You couldn't carry a water bottle with you either, cuz that would be "unprofessional", so heat stroke was a common problem. During that short 2 weeks I was there, I saw two sales reps get sent to hospital for collapsing from heat exhaustion. Totally worth it for the people you got to meet though, right? Not so much, no. I'd get yelled at, flipped off, doors slammed in my face, one elderly lady even spat on me...only to get reprimanded by my team lead at the end of the day for not convincing enough people to buy these ridiculously expensive solar panels that they didn't even own. That's right, we were trying to convince people to pay huge amounts of money to install something that would lower their property value, save them only marginally on electricity costs, and you didn't even get to keep the solar panels. Gee, who could resist such a great deal? Nope. Nope, nope nope. Never doing that shit again, no matter HOW desperate I am, or dangerously close to homelessness I become.
Oh, and one last thing: At the job interview, they made us fill out a personality test. Turns out they were only looking to hire people who fit a VERY specific type; namely, sheeple who didn't like to think too much, preferred to take direction rather than decide their own life path, and were easily indoctrinated. You know, the type of person that cults deliberately target. I and the rest of my batch of recruits only got in cuz the turnover was so high, and they were desperate for sacrificial lambs to feed to the corporate grinder, that they temporarily nixed the personality requirement, since they simply could not find enough replacements. NOBODY wanted to do this job. But yeah, the fact that they were literally hunting for weak-minded people to boss around is nine kinds of terrifying. It really showed in the permanent reps, too. They all spoke a if solar energy, and SolarCity in particular, was the savior of the planet. That SolarCity would singlehandedly stop global warming, fix the ozone, reverse the ice caps melting, and raise David Bowie back from the dead.

The one with the door to door "field canvassing" crap, I had the misfortune of actually following one of those things for a day before I declined the "job". Not only did they unleash us with a map to go door to door, they had us marking on the map with symbols depending on whether they answered or not, what they said etc. And for the time we were supposed to do our rounds there, we'd continuously knock on the same doors either because they weren't there the first time around, or whoever answered told us to come by later to talk with her husband etc. In my case it was door to door charity sales. We were trying at the time to convince people to donate money - on a monthly basis- for a deaf kids' charity in the UK. We had to walk around Wolverhampton with a guy who was supposed to "train" us, who I swear to god, he had the energy of 3 red bulls + coke. They offcourse kept the juicy part for last, when it was already night time and we were on our way back to Birmingham, that the job was commission based only. So I told him that I'm sorry but I'll pass, I don't mind commission being used as motivation, but a company that hires me needs to "rent" my time as well. It wouldn't be strictly up to me if I'd make a sale, we're not talking about selling bric a bracs for charity, we're talking about monthly subscription of at least 5 pounds, some people can't spare that amount on a monthly basis. So odds are that I might be walking around every village in West Midlands working but making no money to show for it.

I am SO glad they gave examples, because the way that sentence is worded, and the fact that it’s Walmart, could mean at least 2 entirely different things than what they meant. Things that are so much worse than picking up a pepper, taking a bite, and putting it in a freezer...

I worked as a cart pusher at a walmart. We were short on maintenance, so I would often have to cover when needed. One day I was cleaning the bathroom, and found a soccer ball sized wad of shit covered toilet paper in the corner of a stall.
Another time a toilet got clogged and auto flushed several times before we got to it. The whole floor was covered in shit and piss water. That took me forever to clean up.
I work in a salon and this old lady I worked with was okay at first but eventually I noticed she would lie about anything. She was a hypochondriac, negative and always complained. She was loud and dramatic. No one liked her. We found out she was talking crap about all of us to her customers and she became the most hated in the salon. My boss eventually got her relocated. That old lady hated my guts 😂

Know I'm a little late to this, but the gross waste of perishables thing reminded me of the time I worked Christmas in a supermarket - they accidentally put fresh turkeys in the freezer, couldn't sell them because they were frozen, so let every member of staff take one each, so they weren't totally wasted.
This reminds me of a job I had a few years ago. One female employee wore inappropriate clothing so a dress code was implemented for everyone. She would put nail polish on during work hours and smell the whole office up. We were mostly happy when the FBI came into the office and arrested her. I believe it was government credit card abuse and mail fraud.
@37:59 manager would get into major trouble if I ever found out they refused to replace a lock especially on an ammo case after a disgruntled employee broke the lock. This could have led to said employee telling people said lock was broken or going into the case themselves to get ammo for a mass shooter situation. Also as an APM for Walmart I can assure you that the person talking about dummy cameras inside walmart is absolutely wrong. Every camera ball you see is functioning. Also we have tiny door cameras at the doors inside and out that you would never see unless you knew where to look. This is a precursor to facial recognition programs that will be used soon. As for someone watching cameras inside the office this happens all the time inside the store when there are multiple undercover associates working the floor. It helps us to keep track of who we are watching on the floor as a birdseye view of the suspected shoplifters.
My GM at my morning job. She barks at anyone she can whenever someone makes a mistake and doesn't let up. If there's a change in company policy or kitchen behavior, she waits until the last second. Constantly reminds me of company policy and asks if I know how to run things in the kitchen. I'm senior employee and have been at the shop 2.5 years. I used to open the kitchen everyday and after a month of being scheduled to come in two hours later, she asks me if I still remember. If you have the balls to argue with her or call her out on her mistakes, she is extremely pontificate and refuses to hear your side of the story, because she has to be right. I believe she's the sole reason we have such a high turnover rate. However, I found that if I make her laugh, she gets less picky. I buy coffee for everyone at the shop so she doesn't get grumpy. And I even tell her that she can freely yell at me if she needs to vent, because I know I can take it and that way she yells at everyone else less. We've learned to be friends, but she's still a very abusive boss. She's finally going in two weeks for maternity leave. Half of us (including AM and I) are intending to quit as soon as she leaves, with new jobs at the ready.
TLDR: I take shit from abusive boss, learned how to make her less bitchy, she's leaving in two weeks because she's pregnant and me and others are quitting as soon as it happens.

Dude who learned ASL is a great person but it's a shame so few people bother to do it, especially when they know they work with someone who's d/Deaf. In an ideal world many, many people would be able to converse in it
I've been welding for about 15 years, catching on fire is common. Its happened to me countless times.
Can confirm. You don't even notice you're on fire because of the thick clothing. All you notice is the smell of smoke, that you're a little warmer than normal, and finally the a light underneath the hood makes you click. Lit myself on fire I think 10 times in two years of college. In case anyone is worried, the fire just requires a few pats from your leather gloves. But you'll need new clothes after. You're more likely to get injured by dropping steel or grabbing hot steel that someone didn't mark with chalk.
That's the worst.. when you have a decent bead going, and you suddenly realize you smell clothes burning..
The guy who is deaf is not hated, just misunderstood. It's actually kind of sad if you really think about it. Most people who are physically or mentally disabled cannot be offered promotions or jobs that most "normal" people can do. We can do most of the same things the average person can do, but it may just take longer. Remember that, comment section.

I worked for a friend's father as property management. When someone gets evicted I had to go into the rental property and inventory anything left behind and any damage done by the renter. There were two of us on this job and we walked into one duplex and as soon as I did, I smelled something dead. I have been a country boy most of my life so I know the smell of a dead animal. I thought it might be a mouse or rat. Unfortunately the smell was too strong to be something that small. Turns out the renters had an iguana and it died so they put it in a garbage bag and left it in the fish tank. I had to through the bag out a window and open every window to air the place out. Oh and the six large cans of grease in the freezer than had been sitting for a week since the power went out. So new fridge needed. Watch a show called world's worst tenants and you'll get an idea of what it was like.
I quit working at target because I worked in grocery and stocked my 8 isles plus 20 additional isles, take all returns from any department to the back to restock, organize the back stock, and was paid $9.80 per hour in 2018 when the minimum wage was $11. It may seem stupid to quit over $2.20 per hour of less pay but after taxes I was receiving $7 per hour for 50 plus hours per week and my hours over 40 were paid as standard pay and not at overtime of time and half. It certainly started to show I wasn't appreciated and was denied for any promotion or raise where coworkers that were hired months after me and worked maybe 20 hours a week, not clock out for lunch and not stock their grocery isles unless corporate was in the store but waited until corporate was coming to see their isles. Id encourage them to put their phones down, stop taking breaks to sit on their phone behind the loading docks, and I'd give them a hand but gave up when I was told Id be fired for encouraging my coworkers to work and not be on their phones or taking breaks as I'm not the manager. The grocery department was being stocked by myself and all back stock was organized and returns from any department was put back as I'd be asked by name via our walkie-talkies to restock the returns, due to my ability to handle multiple tasks and not leave my section unfinished when I'd clock out to go home, and would cover for my department when any slack was noticed.

Whenever I come with my mum to the grocery store I always end up tidying up the shelves and if there’s something in the wrong place finding where it goes and putting it back it’s just something fun to do while I follow my mother and I feel it helps workers out just that little bit
The person always showed up an hour late, left early, pushed her work onto everyone else, did the absolute minimum possible, and complained about literally everything (the clients, the horses, the weather (we work outside), etc), and even openly stated that she didn’t feel like working in this weather (outside job). We were actually more efficient after she’d left, even though we were a person down.
If I was a Walmart worker, I would say "I don't get paid enough to deal with this shit, I'm out," but end up going to the staff lounge.
Am i the only one who notices that certain people will point out the race of the the customer only if they're black, and even if it has absolutely nothing to do with the rest of the story?

I don't know if it is the same for the situations in the video, but in some instances knowing the race and other things about the individual can provide better context and better visualize the situation. For example, saying "A black woman said "Thank you honey" to me in a southern accent before she went on her way" is better to visualize than saying "A person said "Thank you honey" to me before they left".
Where my work is located, African Americans make up around 2.4% of the population, with most of the population being White or Asian, with many people also being Hispanic, meaning that whenever we hear about someone we haven't met, we tend to assume that they are not black. Mentioning their race corrects that assumption for us as well. Could be a similar case for those in the video.
I overhear my coworkers and I hand them forms that they need. We share a desk 20ft, IMO I don't think it's too creepy.

Worked at Goodwill as a cashier for two summers. The things donated and the crazies that come in were astounding sometimes. I liked working there overall but was over worked and underpaid. Also had an absolutely terrible co worker that they wouldn’t fire because of how short staffed they were
I got a job in a grocery store,24 miles from my home..across a mountain and in another time zone. It seemed alright to begin with,but when my car broke down and I had to have my car hauled home,things changed. I called the store and told them all this.....well a few days later my car wasn't ready for me to work that weekend...so I called the store and the lady who had hired me started screaming and yelling and cursing me and saying I was a no call,no show and nobody knew where I was! It was completely unnecessary and unprofessional,not to mention childish. Anyway when I did get my car fixed,I called them and they asked me to come in now if I wanted to...be here by 5.....I agreed to that,and then realize I agreed to be there when 5 is in about 15 minutes in the time zone where the store is....My last day there,I'm working frozen food back stock and after work I'm going to drive the 90 miles to visit my sister and mother who I've not seen in 4 months. It gets down to 12 minutes before I'm to clock out and this same bitch decides I need to run every pallet of milk and all of the eggs and I think something else too! All day long she hadn't said one word about this...I didn't walk out,but I should have.

The stories about managers or even associates trying to rob their stores reminds me about a story I saw recently on TV the guy worked in lower management of Metro (German gross market chain where you need to own a company to shop) - he discovered that any bank payment need 2 code numbers - where each lower management received one for their work load. So he started recording and collecting those manager codes until he got like 20 of them - he also learned that one superior managers signature was required additional to the 2 codes - but he learned to counterfeit that - and then he started transfering relatively small amounts to a new bank account he had created for that task. He started just after the most recent internal book checking so he knew he was kinda safe for 1 year - and used that time to transfer around 20 mill DM ( ~ 10 mill €). He got one accomplice who's sole task was to withdraw the money at random times .. carrying out suitcases of money and depositing that into suitcase storage at their central train station (like store it for 1 week at a time, then move everything and the new suitcase to a new storage locker) - After they reached those 20 mill they moved it all into the largest possible bank notes (1000 DM) and into large suitcases both left the country - Initially they wanted to go to Paris to live like god in France but feared it was too close to Germany - so they flew to Rio de Janeiro / Brazil - and booked suites in the best hotels available for like half a year ...
Unfortunately for them Metro was not forgiving and sent a team of private investigators after them, who were able to track them to Brazil - and missed them several times as those 2 guys constantly switched hotels after like a week. But the investigators learned quickly that the local mafia was on their tracks as well.
Then it went down quite trivially - one of the guys got homesick for his local diner - and he flew back home with half the money (they shared in true fashion in half) - and he was arrested while eating his favorite bratwurst in the diner. The other one escaped a few more times - but learned himself that the local mafia was on his tracks - and handed himself in to the private investigators.
Both had about 10 mill DM in possession so after adding everything up - it occurs that only about 50000 DM were actually missing which they most likely spent for flights and hotel bookings and eating in restaurants .. I guess they couldnt quite shake off their upbringing to safe on expenditures.
4:25 I started tearing up a bit. It didn't even require that much effort to make this man's life so much better and nobody else had ever put in the time or cared.

I got promoted to a management position becuase the former manager got another job, gave his notice and when that job was rescinded, they wouldn't let him have his old job back. It was glorious.

personally, i don't believe in skipping breaks because of being busy, its also illegal where i live, breaks are mandatory by law, but when i worked a job that gave an additional 15 each day, as the more experienced employee i would send the newbies for breaks during rushes and take mine when it calmed down
The person doing archery in Wal-Mart- at least with recurve bows, they usually don't have sights. Learning how to aim with a bow is a part of learning how to do archery
i used to work or a retail store and if you bought an expensive enough laptop you could buy a monthly warranty plan that included everything including accidental damage, and if you had to send it out for repair, you could get a loaner. Unfortunately, they way we assigned the loaner machine we basically sold it to an internal account, which had an insurance limit of $1000, so we couldn't give out a loaner above that value. This means if you have a macbook, you won't get a macbook loaner, because we didn't sell any MacBooks for less than $1000, people often forget this detail when selling the warranty which creates issues of its own, but we arent supposed bend, because whoever loans above that value becomes liable for the device.
Well, i had a coworker who was pretty bad at his job, he was taking the same college program i had graduated from, but you wouldn't know it and he dicided to send out a macbook pro loaner when he was working alone one night (he could have called MOD if there was a customer issue) and a few weeks later when we called in the customer for their laptop and they brought the loaner with them, he was the one to check it back in, we noticed it was a mac and this raised a few eyebrows, later that day after he had gone home, we went to reset and repack the thing to flip it to open box, only to find the thing had not been inspected when it was brought back in, and it was covered in smeared and dried blood... the fuck, immediate;ly put everything down and go wash hands, went to get gloves so i could bag it, but that laptop is now garbage.
i never heard why specifically, but that employee was fired halfway through a shift about a month later, they just casually called him into the office and we didn't see him again, about an hour later we got a text from a manager telling us not to reach out to him
That Bob story reminds me of my recent manager. I had a Love/Hate relationship with her while she was the GM. But when she left, I really miss her. She was just like Bob. She wanted the best for her employees, which made her come off like a B**** at times. But she only meant well. Now that she is gone, the place has fell drastically.

I was a retail remodeller that worked a contract with Walmart, and because it was during the beginning of COVID-19, we only worked around people for half an hour. Still. Saw so many. Assholes. People would come up to us asking where things were. Walmart Associates would "ask" (demand) we do something for them we hadn't contracted to do. Yeah that was fun.
Here’s the thing about being a “team player”... I will help my fellow workers out as much as I possibly can, but I’m not going to work myself to death doing so. I’m not going to skip my breaks. I’m not going to do unpaid OT. I’m not working hours past my schedule. I’m not going to leave my work undone to help another just for me to end up being thrown to the wolves.
If that makes me selfish and hated, that’s unfortunate but fine to me. Blame management, not me.
This also depends on how I’m treated by said coworkers. Treat me well, and I will do all I can; I’ll be willing to stay late and/or skip some breaks (never unpaid OT- know your worth!). Treat me poorly, and you’re on your own.

I'm in produce picking a online orders food and a guy walks over to me (maybe late 50s early 60s) and asks me "Do you have Dates here"
Without hesitation I reply "No I prefer Olive Garden"
I work fast food and one time almost all of the cups had a hole in the bottom of them, and it was pretty clear that somebody had done it intentionally. we had recently gotten some security cameras installed (stuff kept going missing) and sure enough, closing shift, when nobody else was looking, one guy stood there methodically poking holes in all of the cups. from what I heard that guy was kind of a dick and I guess that was his way of quitting or getting fired because he had to know he would be caught, the monitors are right there in the office

38:38 the only "real" cameras are ones that focus on the registers, manager's office and rear door/loading dock for in-house/employee theft at rite-aid stores. 41:51 had 2 50% off navy commissary coupons, each for any 24 cans of fancy feast cat food, brought 2 24-count boxes up to the checkout. cashier said coupon was only good on 24 individual cans. so i ripped open the boxes and dumped them on the belt. supervisor saw it all--just shrugged and walked off. i got the discount. that's shitload of little cans.

This lady was banned from site and tried to work for another contractor on the same site to weasel out of it. She was banned for violating injury policy. If you’re injured at work you report it immediately. She would wait a day and then report it. Got warned 3 times and there wasn’t a fourth.

She was just hired a few weeks ago and at first I thought she'd be great. She disappears during her shifts,she questions everything we tell her to do,she ignores customers,she ignores management,she ignores associats,she unplugged a register,during her shift,and started cleaning while we had a line,she accused my best friend,A guy I used to be involved with.,of dv when I came in with a black eye, tripped over my puppy while I was chasing her to take her outside.,and then accused my dad of the same thing,she yells across the store,she's chronically late,One time 15 minutes late and I had to work by myself,she was told to tell the customers that they could use selfcheckout by one of supervisors three times. She ignored her and I finally walked over and told them myself. She cries about being bullied,Accused a male co-worker EVERYONE,loves and then yelled at a manager on Black Friday because that manager asked her to check the registers,and honestly,the managent team is running out of places to put her.
