Art teachers, every teenage artist has their edgy phase of bloody wolves or cats. If you see gore and either a cartoon character or wolves/cats, they aren't psychotic. Every artist goes through it, whether it's strong or just one picture lol

OMG! The story about the kid's art project and the parents being called into the school reminded me of something in my own childhood. The "talk" about the birds and bees was treated very casually in my household growing up. My Dad would sketch diagrams on the margins of the Sunday paper, explaining how everything worked. At school one day a classmate let it be known that she knows where babies come from, but her version was incredibly troubling and not factual. I took it upon myself to "school" mt classmate and explained everything in great detail. Then I shared with her the changes her body would soon undergo (we were both on the cusp of puberty), and showed her on a stick figure diagram where hair would soon appear.
A teacher saw the sketch and was deeply troubled by it. Parents were summoned to the school and all hell broke loose. God forbid a child should be blessed with parents who taught life lessons so casually and avoided the childish words for genitals and such. I expected World War 3 to break out over a stick figure drawing with underarm and pubic hair - I even included hairy legs! Spoiler: no children were injured in the incident. Kids can handle the truth and deserve to know what is going to happen to their bodies so it doesn't
frighten them when the changes appear.

Damn I had a similar experience back in highschool this one kid narced on me to the principal when he overheard me talking to my friend about mowing my lawn over the weekend, apparently the amount grass I not only possessed but mowed for distribution was enough to land me downtown with a couple felony charges. That was a very traumatic time for me probably the lowest point in my life, we also had a zero tolerance policy so I was expelled from school ontop of that so I never got to graduate with my 4.0 gpa and go to a good university like I had planned. :(

My class had a lot of tragic things happen to us in 8th grade (within a few months). One guy died from leukemia, my best friend died in a car accident a month into the year (September 30th), one girl's mother burnt the house down to get rid of "the demons" thankfully she was at school when it happened. There was a car accident in front of our school, involving a friend's dad (on his motorcycle). I was sitting next to her on the bus and we got there right as it was happening. It was out in the country so the highway was 55mph speed limit which has changed. The accident gave him a traumatic brain injury and he became so violent the entire family had to leave him.

Wow, I had an art class that claimed to be like that. The teacher said she would never tell us what to draw or paint and would let us do anything.
Every single idea I had that I wanted to paint, she immediately said "No, paint flowers" to. She also forced me to paint a picture of pumpkins because she didnt want to do it and she needed someone to.
This was class my granny was paying 50 dollars a month for, not a school class. And all I did for the short time I was there was come up ideas, get told no, and paint flowers or whatever she told me to paint.
Then again, I'm transgender, pansexual, and an atheist. And was pretty open about my beliefs and interests. She was a homophobic, transphobic, Christian who's friends with my abusive granny. I shouldn't have expected much good from her.

6:24 I wonder if my second grade teacher will post to Reddit about that one time in second grade I drew a recolored Nazi flag on the sail of what was meant to be a print out of a 1500's sailing ship
    To clarify:
    1. I was like 7-8 and didn't understand that Nazi symbols were evil. My mother had gotten me the book "Who was Anne Frank?" and I had found the black and white design cool, so I had drawn it on the sails to spice up my project
    2. The recolor part was because I'd never actually seen a color Nazi flag before, so I had to guess on the colors (The red was replaced with dark blue and the black with red)
    3. I didn't even draw the swastika correctly, I was (and still am) so bad at art
    4. I got into writing as a hobby in 4th grade. Sometime last year I randomly remembered this story and decided to review the concept. The design is now being used as the flag for a fictional Big Brother-esc governmental faction in one of my story AUs. I promise the group is just as evil (or at least as close as I can get) as the horrors that their flag is based on

So, I really like drawing women wearing somewhat revealing or just pretty clothing. And it doesn't help that I'm not terrible at drawing, so the "seductive tension" feel in everything I draw tends to be noticeable. Also, I'm a girl. So when I was in 4th grade, I sat in between 2 boys and I was totally drawing a prostitute on my math book instead of paying attention in class. And one of those little shits told on me! Imagine my surprise when I hear "Ms. Teacher, Camila is drawing inappropriate drawings." I was pissed and I just flipped back to the page we're supposed to be on and looked at him like "What the actual fuck do you mean?" Ms. Teacher didn't even care so that was good.

I once got yelled at by my aftercare teachers for drawing a “gruesome” image. Now. Not having been diagnosed with ADHD yet I was the “sensitive kid”, would cry any time a form of authority talked to me sternly etc etc. My parents thought the drawing was cool and I’m not at all violent or anything but since the teachers yelled at me for it I tossed it. Wish I’d kept it so I could re draw it now because, surprise surprise, I love drawing gore or creepy things now. It’s just more fun.

(4:45 ) Shyness sucks when you are young. I remember being like 12 in class and my teacher wanted everyone to sit on the floor in a circle to talk about the weekend. I just kind of hid in the corner of class reading a book while she asked repeatedly for me to come join the other 15 kids. I just shook my head. She then said :Okay if you won't move we will come to you" and made every freaking kid get up and sit around me. I moved away and she did it again.....cornering me in the process so I couldn't move again. I just turned my music up while silently screaming inside because I was surrounded by people and she basically breathing down my neck.....

I’m late and I’m a senior in high school. Back in November (2021) my Pre-Calculus teacher suddenly disappeared from campus. We showed up to class one day and we had a sub. Thinking nothing of it we brushed it off as a family emergency that he hadn’t told us about yet. Then the next class we still had the sub. Then the next, and the next, and the next. We as his students got very confused and concerned, asking every day if the sub knew something about what happened. Finally right before the break for Thanksgiving (American), we find out he passed away. We were shocked and very sad. I struggled a little bit in that class but with the sub I was struggling more (still got an A which I’m proud of) because of the drastic change in teaching style. The teacher was about fifty-three, so medically speaking very young. I’m not sure what caused his death, but whatever it was it was incredibly sudden. I still have the Spring Semester before I graduate High School, so I’ll be seeing what the new Professor (College level Prof.) will bring to the table that is my small-city public high school.
RIP Dr. Hees. I didn’t know you for very long but I hope that the effort you put into your classes pays off with the new Professor.

I used to work at a neighborhood art gallery while attending grad school in a large city. It was right near campus in a super-diverse neighborhood so the kids who came through for after-school programs were a mix of professors’ children and Section 8 residents. Anyway they decided to give the kiddos disposable cameras and turn them loose to take pics of their own lives, a selection of which would be displayed in the gallery and available for sale. Cool idea. I was walking through a few weeks later and there were pics of grandmas, younger siblings, block parties, etc. and then the coup de grace, someone who got cut in half by a Metra train. Best part is not that some kid found a dead body & took a pic of it, but rather that it was demarcated with a dot sticker to show someone had already bought it.

My school hasn't, as far as I know, had any tragedies (at least in the time I've been there), but my brother's junior year of high school, his school had a lot of bad things happen (we went to different high schools, so that's why the wording sounds weird).
First, a (not quite yet) senior died in a car accident right before the school year started. He was apparently a brilliant kid, and was probably going to be valedictorian.
Then, when the football team was heading back from a game, along with a few teachers, the bus driver had some sort of medical issue, and the bus crashed. The bus driver died, and all three of the teachers on the bus were injured. One teacher ended up in the hospital for most of the rest of the school year, but thankfully everyone aside from the bus driver made a full recovery eventually. The bus driver's death was, of course, tragic, but it's amazing that it was only as bad as it was.
Then, another teacher got cancer, and ended up leaving for the rest of the school year. I don't know if that teacher survived or came back, as I only heard about all of this through stories from my brother, and he didn't have much information even then, so this is all just the facts I remember from what my brother was able to find out and tell me.
So yeah, that was the tragedies of my brother's school during his junior year.

He was drinking and driving and died when he crashed. Everyone was devastated, but the school didn't care. They announced his death on the intercom and that was it.

I’ll probably post this on Reddit, but
One day in 4th grade, I was on the bus and I found a pocket knife on the floor and brought it to the bus driver. Mainly because I didn’t want it to seem like it was mine and wasn’t too keen on the person who sat nearby me to just have some knife. The bus driver was oddly calm about it and said she would turn it in. It turns out that a friend who was a grade above me carried the pocket knife in her backpack for the whole year. She claims that she didn’t know it was in there but it was pretty obvious that she did. She also said that it was a gift from her deceased grandpa and really liked it. On the bus ride home, she told me all of this and was very mad that I turned in a random knife that I found... But anyway, the reason I knew that she knew it was in her backpack was because she obviously found out that it was missing during school. Since she was my friend though, we were think of how to get it back without getting in trouble. But eventually, she just walked up to the bus driver, AND ASKED FOR JER KNIFE BACK! That wasn’t even the weirdest part though, the bus driver basically GAVE IT BACK IMMEDIATELY! I was astounded. All the bus driver did was tell her to be more careful with it. She was a pretty cool bus driver because she would always drive a little further for me to get to my house. But still, she didn’t even tell a teacher or anything. I bet she would have probably gotten suspended. So that was probably the weirdest thing I saw in elementary school.

I'm from the "southern" US and many schools back in the day didn't care if you brought guns to school because hunting is common in the region. After the Columbine shooting I'd say is when the pearl clutchers started blaming everything on videogames. Same shit in the 80s with the "satanic panic".

My response to the story at 4:19 (read Angsty_Potatos's story first)
A "Counselor Teacher" (not a real school counselor) brought in another person from God knows where, and they sent me to a hospital just because I did not want to talk about self-harm. I'm more of a quiet kid, by the way. This was in the middle of a school day, and they released me about the same time as my school let out for the day (2:30). My mom got involved, and a police officer had to drive me to the hospital because they were worried my mom would take me and drive off. This was on Valentine's Day. I had not self-harmed in months at the time, and was close to thinking of never doing that again. I still fucking hate that "teacher", and this school year she told me to come to her "office" (she just borrows a room and it's not actually her office) and she told me she was going to talk to me. I told her I didn't want to work with her, and she told me it was just her job for sending me to the hospital, and kept blaming it on the other person she before claimed as her "friend". I will always hate her.

42:47 This is really stupid. The teacher gave this prompt that was obviously theoretical and a situation that was very likely never going to happen to anyone who answered it. Why does it even matter what the answer was?

I had an art project that we had to base it off a previous artists work but had to be completely different so I chose Salvordor Dali and his lobster phone as it was a cool surliest work, talked to my teacher about some ideas then hit gold I had an unused landline phone that was common in horror films and thought I could base my work around that. What I made was amazing, better then I hoped, as I am not so skilled and I recorded the whole thing it took three full days and hours of recording, I had made a baby doll demon full off details (red horns, cuts fixed with staples, one eye, put a light in the missing eye and to top it of it was the dolls that moved/talked) and stuck it to the phone which was made to look as if someone bleed on it. people thought it was amazing but got "are you ok" questions which I found funny. The school held a yearly art show in a library so people can view their students work I submitted the hell phone and another piece but was told it was likely not going to be shown but didn't care was so exited that I gave them a time lapse of both pieces... The hell phone was never shown and I knew why. Now I like themes of death because how abstract it is and the messages you can put but don't question my mental health it was just my crazy imagination at work if people want to see the time laps I might put it out there.

1:00:00 we do have school yearbooks, proms and hoodies now in uk schools at the end of year 11 (15/16 years olds). My mum and dad never got a prom but they do definitely do them now since ive got mine in a couple months. It's intriguing to see how uk schools have picked up trends likely from us schools.

I only realize now how chill my school was. It was a rural school and a good number of the kids where farm kids. We all carried smallish pocket knives on use and if you were in the WoodShop class the teacher would sharpen them sometimes. Like the principle would need a knife and he would ask and like 5-10 kids would offer him theirs and he didn’t care.

16:10 i was kinda shy as a kid. so one day in art class we were told to draw a loved family member. so being the cat person i was i drew a cute picture of my cat (i was like 9 btw). i turn it in and next thing i know my art teacher is at my desk asking why i didnt draw my mom or somthing. thinking im in trouble i get quiet and simply dont talk for like 10 minutes. teacher keeps asking the same question repetedly. finaly my bff steps in (he was the kinda person who dosent deal with anybodys cr*p under any circumstances) and practicly screams "wtf is your deal lady he loves his cat, there isnt anything wrong with that". still had a parent teacher meeting to talk about it though.

I like the art stories, because I eas one of those kids in elementary school. I was always a bit disturbing, my interests were out there for sure, and when other kids started calling me creepy I corrected them and told them I was morbid and the definition of the word, and unfortunately morbid rhymes eith my name so I earned a new nickname. From first to second grade we had this one teachrr who came to work drunk, but nobody could tell. I liked pirates, and we would often talk about them, so he gave me the nickname Captain Morgan, which I found out in 3rd grade was an alcoholic brand after finding it in my uncle's kitchen. He was chill about my morbid art, and was honest about wanting to enter it into the competitions we had but never being allowed to because, as he put it, "they just don't get you and they're angry". For an assignment to draw a community, I drew a building that was a thumb but it bled at the base, a cake that bled with a knife stabbed into it for a church, and a nuke cloud for a hospital. For an abstract 3d art project, when viewed from the side it looked like a stabbed eye. But the final straw before the school called home and demanded I be put in therapy was the purple vampire cat named count catula... it was a purple cat with a darker purple triangle stripe on the head and fangs. The tamest thing I had come up with and all because I was in a severe art block. That was the final straw. In 3rd grade we had a different, far crueler art teacher who screamed at me for my art. And the worst part: she didn't let us sit outside under the tree just by the door and draw on nice days like he did! All the other teachers used any excuse they could find to get out of the classroom, but she refused! Anyways, my therapist actually got concerned with my mornid art when all of a sudden I started to label the bloody piles of human goop in them with that teacher's name

I'm dying! I grew up in a tiny town. I spent a month back last year, and almost died from a 38-year-old guy that constantly talked about "being the toughest guy in town," making fun of every person in high school (past and present), and mercilessly laughing at the one successful athlete that got paralyzed in a car accident.
It was simultaneously extremely frustrating and pathetic watching this douchbag get depressed that he was the only one left in that area, making fun of his more successful classmates, while getting drunk on cheap beer. Loser.

Only tragedy I can think of is a guy that got killed in High School. Never knew him, but he was well liked.
From what I heard, he was just chilling ouside on his porch when he was mistaken by some other guy and shot dead. (Asked my mom if they caught who killed him because she was a teacher there, but she doesn't know. Guy was supposed to be on her home room if he hadn't been killed)

This was a few months ago, I wasn't in trouble but I'm pretty sure the guidance counselor thinks I'm crazy. I am a pretty dark human being, me and a friend were coming up with possible ways to get away with murder. We came up with a pretty solid way and since we couldn't use phones at my school we wrote it on a piece of paper. Basically, it involved getting men into bed at their own house, wearing medical gloves, stabbing them in the back, and then putting your clothes back on and leaving and at home burning all clothes and clothes in a fire. We'd signed it because we were idiots. I told my friend to throw it out or put it in her bag so nobody found it, she didn't, she left it on the table and the kids who came in the class after us found it and turned it in, everyone of course got a picture of it first. The teacher called up administration and I had to go up to guidance and they were concerned I was actually going to kill someone, they thought, my 7th-grade butt was going to try and sleep with old men just so I can kill them. Yeah no, I was just creative. I had to try and convince them that it was just a game we played because my friend was obsessed with the show how to get away with murder. They called her up and on her way to the office I explained to her the story and she went along with it- I'm pretty sure they wanted to call my mom. Just my mom even though my friend's name was also written on the paper- A couple months later I got called up because I was caught for the 6th time holding hands with my girlfriend and I had to explain in deep detail that we were both gay, it was consensual and then I had to convince them that I also wasn't going to murder women. Very fun.

I'm in sixth grade and this happened this year. So my art teacher drew Bob Ross and then some scenes. Every two grades got a picture to. So we had to draw yourselves doing something outside and them we cut them out and put them on the big pictures outside the room. While everyone else drew themselves hiking or on a boat the really annoying kid that almost nobody liked ( and I had to sit next to all year) drew a whole tank on top of rocks and him in an army suit and helmet. Mind you this was Bob Ross themed.
