- Sure, a wagon or sedan can make it through most road conditions, but every once in a while, there are unforgiving cold and snowy days when an extra bit of ground clearance, a punchy powertrain and a plush cabin can make all the difference. Thank goodness for crossovers. Speaking of which, let's talk about the 2022 Genesis GV70 and the BMW X3.

You are the FIRST person I have ever heard that doesn't like the interior of the GV70, you are definitely in a VERY small minority
I don’t care for the interior and my husband can’t understand what my “malfunction” is 😂. But I like everything else about the suv.
I’ve driven both of these within the past week. The motor in the X3 is definitely superior and I’ll give the X3 the nod when it comes to cargo practicality for th boxier compartment and the three way seat split but that’s where the advantages stop for me.
The GV70 has a more impressive interior in both looks and feel. There are more color choices in the top trims with the options I like. The GV70 also comes with massaging seats, a more personalized remote starter, better steering feedback, concierge service and a better warranty.
I drove the GV 70 for about 40 minutes and didn’t confuse those two dials once. They have completely different textures. One is also in the front and one is in the back. I’ve seen where multiple people reviewed this vehicle and complained about that but it wasn’t an issue for me. I definitely can’t imagine it being an issue as an owner that’s in the vehicle daily.
The GV70 isn’t as agile or fast as the X3 but as that’s not the primary focus of this vehicle for me the GV70 is a better fit for my needs.

Nice honest review !! Bought a GV70 in November, 3.5 Sport Prestige (Uyuni white over red/charcoal), after shopping all the usual suspects. Love the HUGE difference between comfort mode and sport/sport+. If you can find one in the Dallas/FW area they are marked up $5K. Genesis in general makes the Germans overpriced, owned them in the past and Jaguar. Six months in zero problems and I'm glad I didn't spend more just to get a "badge", Genesis can play with the big boys and has a better warranty and concierge service.

I have a G70 and have to fight with my wife to drive it. We are getting a GV70 as soon as her Rav4 lease ends

Genesis FTW!!!! I called way back when, Genesis is the new luxury benchmark, in such a short time its accomplished so much and now can take on the Holy "German" Trinity and WIN... The only area that I would say needs to be addressed is the Performance Line, they need something to complete with the AMG, M, RS, V, F, Polestar, Quadrafoglio, and Type-S... Great comparison... SUBBED
The unsettled ride on the X3 is remedied by opting for the stock 19” wheels. It resolves that issue completely.
they are comparing a true performance car with a 0to60 in 4 seconds to a slower luxury/performance car. apples to oranges. true performance cars have rigid suspension and it is common knowledge and y cant really review a performance car and say the down side is that it doesn't ride smooth LOL
@@tonypaca3015 yep. If they want smooth ride and don't care about performance, compare the GV70 to a lower X3 model that isn't about performance.

GV70 has all the specs I've been wanting for a car. I drove Audi sq5 and glc 300 coupe but this one the gv70 has all the safety features I needed! Worth the money with a 10 year warranty it's the only brand that i know who can give that offer. One thing that I'm having a problem with is the interior color, I want a brown interior! I'm planning to buy it next year once our house is built!
Id take the Genmy over the BMW on exterior styling alone. The Genesis' nicer interior, tech, comfortable ride, warranty and price advantage is gravy

I am looking to purchase one of three vehicles. The BMW X3M, X3 40i or the genesis GV70 3.5 and note I’ve owned an M3, M5 & M6 so I’m fond of BMW’s. The X40i was not nearly as explosive as the X3M Comp but much smoother off the line and a more linear power delivery. Great engines…but the comfort of the Genesis was phenomenal and the seats, including ventilation and massage features were excellent. There was plenty of power in the 3.5 and it’s a remarkably competent and comfortable small SUV. I think with the warranty, reliability and service genesis may get my money
Stick with BMW just saying. U might regret that Genesis. It’s a nice vehicle don’t get me wrong, but BMW is 3rd in reliability and those are just facts. I own a 23 X3M40i love it. If I had the gv70 , I would have buyers remorse.
@@Mr.Lambert777 I have a friend who is a Master Tech at BMW. He craps on the all the time, they're literally one of the most unreliable brands. One of the only things they have reliable is their B58 engine, which was tuned by Toyota for reliability.
@@21Dimen when I go to the dealership Friday, I will ask the mechanics are the x3 unreliable… because I haven't heard of that..
I was hoping this would be a comparison of the 4cyl models which is what 90% of people buy, and in that regards, the GV70 blows the 4 cyl BMW away.

If you have that kind of money 70-80K, you are already in that serious class of luxury or sport luxury tier. For me, I ain’t driving up in no Kia, I meant Hyundai, I meant Genesis! 😂😂
No thanks to the BMW. I'd rather drive the damn thing I paid so much for vs having it sit in a repair shop any day.
That’s too funny. But yea, don’t believe everything you see on the net. We have 3 bmw’s ranging from ‘18 to 23 now and only reason they have been to the shop is scheduled maintenance.

I’m averaging about 9.5l /100km in my mixed driving in my GV70. Best I’ve managed on highway I have got 7.5, and routinely get in the eights.
It’s a brilliant car, and costs far less than the comparably equipped X3.
Good…because a guy like me who drives BMWs would never consider a fancy Hyundai as an alternative. I love the stiff ride and the extra cost…it’s definitely worth it.
i drove them both and found them to be... virtually identical. pick the one you like the look of more or get a better deal on, in pictures and in video the genesis looks better, in real life the genesis destroys the bmw on the oustide but the bmw is actually a little bit better on the inside, although both are really good. the genesis actually might have had slightly better steering and handling but it was very marginal difference. i will probably buy the bmw because the materials are a bit nicer and i don't pay mark ups, but it's very 50/50
I most definitely respect your opinion on critiquing these two models , however I would most definitely have to agree to disagree on the part when you stated that the genesis has “ better steering and handling” that couldn’t be farther from the truth. BMW is still that ultimate driving machine, from its driving dynamics, direct steering, etc etc, most of your car enthusiasts runs to BMW. The materials in the BMW that you’ve mentioned are better no doubt with its’ fits and finishes. Don’t get me wrong, the Genesis is a BIG step up from its’ competitors like the long lost and probably forever more Infiniti brand and other Japanese brand my I add. The Genesis brand is definitely a nail biter , but to compare it to the Germans like BMW, genesis STILL has a ways to go to even become a Huge threat. These are Just my opinions as well , and you can also reject them or accept them, but I wouldn’t say that the BMW, and the Genesis are a 50/50 more like 60/40…not many of your car enthusiasts or non enthusiasts are flocking more to the Genesis brand than BMW. I mean you pay for what you’re get. Yes, the Genesis does have a great warranty than its’ competitors , but why would you offer such a warranty?? Kind of makes me wonder ,but again these are just my thoughts!
To be fair I drove the base versions of both, I also compared a 3 series m340i to a g70 turbo 6, and the bmw killed it so I would imagine comparing the m340i to the gv70 turbo the bmw would win in the handling department, I would say if you are going turbo 4 the genesis had more steering feel in base form
Go with genesis as the bmw Will spent most of its time in the shop
The B58 engine and ZF transmission are very reliable. There’s a reason Toyota used it for the Supra. And BMW is now far up in the Consumer Reports reliability ratings.

This is totally a personal opinion from you guys or you are paid by Hyundai. No way in hell would I ever consider a Hyundai GV70 over my X3 M40i. What!! I love the work you guys do, but no way.
That Genesis looks weird! And the interior is kinda ugly. It’s nice, but that BMW is the bad _____!! BMW hands down!
My 2023 BMW X3 M40i arrived on 12/22/22!!!!! I got everything on my car except rear passenger heated seats and manual real window shades and the spare tire. You dudes are so clueless, it’s definitely a guys car with the steering wheel as thick as my arms. No jiggles…I have no idea WTF your talking about. A BMW driver is not even going to consider that Genesis…I’d rather have a VW, and when you go to a BMW dealer and you’re concerned with the $$$$…you’re at the wrong place.
But the GV70 is very nice
@@drivingca, oh yes and that’s why there’s something for everybody. I recently drive the G70 Sedan…it was OK, for I’d be in a VW Arteon before the Kia Stinger or the G70.

Had a 2021 BMW 430ix that was going to be my dream car for a while. Shopped hard against Mercedes and Audi and it was a no-brainer. Seven months later I traded in the BMW dream car… Actually a nightmare. The electronic problems were ridiculous.
Got a GV70 3.5 T and drove at 31,000 flawless miles. Just traded that in on a genesis G80 awd 2.5 sport prestige and now have 8000 flawless miles since Christmas. Glad BMW has its fanboy club to keep them in business…I’ll never try another one.
There was a time when BMW did mean "ultimate driving machine" but those days are long gone. Just like Mercedes reliability. Genesis if they can keep this up could become a new marquis brand.
I dislike the interior of gv70 too.. I like the Volvo XC60 or Porsche macan

I've owned and driven many Porsches and the interiors are definitely not the selling point. The GV70 absolutely kills them on interiors.

@@mohitarora9362 Genesis just got started, give them credit for that. But being loyal to BMW is different. I personally think both are nice cars. But ride quality is important when you are charging people over 60 k, and that goes for BMW.
you are talking to a guy that had 3 BMWs and I'll take my GV70 over all of them except maybe my 2002 530i. You can't compare a modern X3 with this. especially if you take price into consideration.
