Me too! While I like The Nightmare Before Christmas, a lot of the cartoon style elements don't really seem to blend well with the "real" feel of ghosts, plantation, etc.

So I was just thinking, it's now haunted Mansion Holiday from August through January. And it is always closed for one month before and after for transition. That means that for 6 months it's haunted mansion holiday, 2 months it is closed, and we only get four months out of the year to enjoy the original haunted Mansion. I think it's gone too far, just make a permanent nightmare before Christmas attraction to the park already, I have not ridden the original haunted Mansion since 2018.
I agree, as much as I like NBC i really hate having to hear christmas music in july. They should really start the holiday overlay mid November, and let it run for the 4 months, and leave the OG up through Halloween.

It is ironic that they're spending all this money on a new line when they could just make everything a virtual queue and not spend the money on the line at all! This looks so much less chaotic!

Great video! Nice to see the haunted mansion is back open for business. I’ve never been a fan of the holiday overlay, though, but I guess it will do. The intermittent video stuttering in this video was kind of distracting. I bailed out after the balcony scene in the dining room.

I was there and a first grader many years ago I'm 60 now I still remember a lot of the features that were there back then I've been to Disneyland several times in my 60 years
It's funny mapping out where different TH-camrs were during that brief stop on the ride. I know for sure Daps Magic was a few cars ahead of you and Fresh Baked David was in the graveyard when you boarded.
The original Haunted Mansion is a classic attraction and doesn't need this overlay of Halloween and Christmas "decorations" to clutter its spooky ambience.
Hey Chris! Another amazing video! OK, I might be crazy or reaching, but I think I found two hidden Mickeys! The first was at 7:19 in the video, on the sides of the blue boxes. The little dots seemed like hidden Mickeys. However, the second one is DEFINITELY a hidden Mickey. Go to 10:08 in the video and look at the plates on the table. Totally a hidden Mickey!!!!!!!! It's absolutely insane how they overhauled practically the ENTIRE ride. I remember the old layout so well. And I loved it whenever "Holidays in Halloween" was ongoing at the Mansion. Well done, Imagineers. You guys did a great job reimagining a beloved attraction for the fans
My wife and I were in boarding group 6 on Monday. We walked right in around 8:30 am. It was so nice having the Mansion back! It seemed like the buggies were running much faster than I remembered.
i think it’s probably due to editing out loud background noises or blurry jostling visuals , could also be an attempt not to get a copy-write strike :/
I believe that the virtual queue is only while they are still working on the reimagined queue area, mainly for capacity reasons. Once the physical queue is done, it should go back to standard standby/lightning lane
I love the Mansion but... As of July 29, 2024, 4:45 p.m., it will be 148 Days, 08 Hours, and 15 minutes until that special holi...day. I'm not sure I can take that many days and be beyond with that overlay. maybe this is the real haunting.
@@ethanshackleton Nonetheless, NBC really gets shoved down everyone throats year round as is. Like a constant celebration of the holidays. Now you don;t even get classic HM at all because of it. It's still the dead middle of the scorching summer season, and we are putting on a seasonal theming way out of season. This overeagerness to celebrate holidays is ironically what brought NBC into existence in the first place.

Wow! The audio in HMH is Really coming through. Meaning I can actually hear the ghost host narration which it usually gets lost in the other audio tracks. It does fade during the dining room and madam leota a lil bit but it's really nice to be able to hear it coming through so clearly.
I really appreciate this! As someone who grew up near Disneyland I never went during Halloween time. It's our family goal to go then. Christmas is magical though too! This ride is in my top faves.

First of all, I only recently have found your videos, and they are just charming and truly delightful. Thank you, sir! Secondly, I greatly enjoy their holiday overlay and really always have. The Nightmare Before Christmas is a holiday tradition and just a wonderful movie in its own right and seeing The Haunted Mansion getting transformed is always a treat! But lastly (I'm sure you saw this coming)... I am not a fan of how early the overlay gets put on. I'm sure I sound like some kind of grouch or something, but it always seemed so odd to me that "how are we going to get our HAUNTED MANSION ready for halloween? We have to get things ready for halloween all through the rest of the park and make it a little spooky but what can we do to get the HAUNTED MANSION ready for spooky time?" Now, I love Christmas too and I get that the Nightmare Before Christmas IS halloween as well as Christmas as a movie, but this overlay really is ALL Christmas. Sure, the spooky characters are represented, but ONLY in their Christmas forms. Now, I'm not completely clueless. I DO understand that this overlay is a massive draw, but so is the Haunted Mansion on its own. I would love to go into Disneyland during October, see all the bits of fun halloween decoration around, and then go into the ACTUAL Haunted Mansion and really let the "ghosts and ghoulies from last halloween" have that much more of an effect. November starts and the holiday overlay is applied, perfect! But, I doubt that will happen, and really it isn't too big of a deal. I mean, the overlay IS a good time still. AND I think I understand why it has been put up HILARIOUSLY early this year. With all the construction going on with other attractions and the continuing construction on the Haunted Mansion ride queue and surrounding area, if they were cleared to open the ride itself, it kinda makes sense to just go ahead and open it with the holiday overlay since their normal time for doing the overlay would be in September anyway. Scheduling wise, it doesn't make sense to have one month of classic Mansion just to be shut down again and have to put up the holiday stuff when they could just do it now and spare the workers for other projects. I only hope that this doesn't become the new normal. Nearly SIX MONTHS of this isn't a "holiday overlay" anymore. It's two rides sharing one spot. I also feel that it is more of the "IP pushing out classic and creative rides" that happens so much. It really seems like Disney won't make "just a ride" anymore and it MUST be based off of an existing IP (but that is a different rant, sorry). Anyway, if anybody has actually read THIS far... I love your videos Mr. Provost. I'm sorry for ranting here. I love Christmas AND the Nightmare Before Christmas but I love classic Haunted Mansion as well. Let's all just have some fun.

Considering that it's been the holiday overlay since August of 2022, it started REALLY early for the 2024 season.

I also feel that it is more of the "IP pushing out classic and creative rides" that happens so much. It really seems like Disney won't make "just a ride" anymore and it MUST be based off of an existing IP (but that is a different rant, sorry).
Anyway, if anybody has actually read THIS far... I love your videos Mr. Provost. I'm sorry for ranting here. I love Christmas AND the Nightmare Before Christmas but I love classic Haunted Mansion as well. Let's all just have some fun.
