I grew up in the shadow of Disneyland. My dad was a Disneyland and Disney World artist for 20 years . I worked there as a ride operator and as an entertainer in my teens and early 20 when Walt was still alive, and severe codes on hair length were in place. My band was scheduled to play the Tomorrowland stage, but I was told that I had to get a haircut before we would be able to perform. Luckily my mom was a stylist, so I went home and had her give me a quick trim. Now I see guys with long hair all over the park. Oh, the dress code was also for guests, back in the day 😂
Dude, you should make a channel about Disneyland. I bet you have awesome stories to tell. And if you already do something like that, can you please tell me lol
A couple of years ago, I got on the ride while the Electrical Light Parade was going on. I managed to come out the door on the second level at the same time as Alice's float was passing by.
I love Alice in Wonderland. I remember riding it as a child, and I try to ride it every time I go to Disneyland. I also remember my father buying ticket books at the mushroom. RIP, Mom and Dad. I miss you.
Hey Chris! Just wanted to give you a THANK YOU. My son Asher saw you while you were filming this video and got so excited! He had my mom (his grandma who he was with) text me to let me know. Then he was even more excited when he saw you AGAIN in the airport and you ended up on the same flight too! Thank you so much for taking time to talk to him. He hasn't stopped talking about how cool that was for him! I appreciate the time you took with him, and all the work you put into your videos. My kids and I love watching your videos as a family. Thanks again!
One slight change, when Disneyland opened there were only A through D tickets. The first E tickets were for the Matterhorn, Submarine, and the Monorail, which was just inside the park. That was in 1959.
Storybook Land! It’s my favorite unique, low key attraction at Disneyland. I’d love to hear any secrets. I also want to hear how they cultivate the miniature plants in the attraction.
Alice has been my absolute favorite Disney character/movies/stories all my life! I absolutely love the live action movies as well! Unfortunately, she's one of the hardest characters to find merchandise for!!!
Fantastic! You, are Amazing, Chris. 🧡 This was an awesome deep dive . Please do more in depth videos focusing on all the magical history of individual Disneyland rides.. So, so many you could do. Cheers!
Tiki tiki tiki room first!!!!! Then Snow White Peter Pan carousel basically all of fantasy land except Pinocchio and Mr toads because they are too scary for my kids 😂😂
The Disneyland dark rides are magical. Each one is an immersion in brilliant color and design. The storytelling is like moving through giant dioramas. Sure, thrill rides are thrilling but dark rides are special.
I had totally forgotten about the mushroom ticket booth until you mentioned it. We bought tickets there every trip when I was a kid. The Fantasyland refurbishment happened during my "Great Disney Drought." I was there in 1975 for the 20th, but didn't get to go again until 1987. A dozen sad years.
Mr. Toad's Wild Ride. Bonus points if you have film or photos of the original hell. I've been looking for awhile, and so far all I can find online is the entrance before and the exit after. As I recall as a kid, there were flames, it was warm (but not too warm) and there were a couple of dozen little devils bobbing up and down while they laughed. If they ever update Toad's, that would be one of the few changes I'd want to see, is to increase the jumping little devils back to two dozen. That would be hilarious. Anyway, you can find film and photos of all the rest of the ride, but for some reason the original hell was kept secret.
Have you ever done a secrets revealed for the Enchanted Tiki Room? I finally got to check it out on my last trip and I just totally fell in love! ❤ thanks as always for the message to all of us. It means a lot to hear kind words on a sad day
No matter what is going on in my day, I know I can watch this channel and you will leave me feeling just a little bit better. Also, leave me wishing I was on the Alice in Wonderland ride.
Technically, Cheshire Cat is also on the ride 4 times. 3 times within the ride proper, and one on the plaque as you exit the ride building at the end. So, it's a Cheshire Cat and White Rabbit ride. =) Also, an idea for a future video is a Secrets Revealed about the plants/grounds around Disneyland. Some of the trees have been there since opening and other plants have some cool history. It used to be that all plants in Tomorrowland were all edible (artichokes, peppers, lettuce, etc.). The Dominguez palm, the Matterhorn tree, old Pirates trees. I'm sure there's some fascinating history there!
I am glad you decided to revisit Alice In Wonderland. The only fact I ever knew was that they decided to build it on top of Mr. Toad's which is just incredible. Everything else including the walk through idea is all brand new to me. I remember my first ride on Alice when that explosion thing was a big thing. My favorite time of day to do this ride is the nighttime. I love the vibes that it creates during that time. I would love to see a Secrets Revealed video on Casey Jr., Storybook Land, and Jungle Cruise.
Maybe you've already done this but I'd love a video about all the opening day attractions. Especially with the 70th anniversary coming up. I know not all the attractions exist anymore but I'd still love to hear about them through your lenses.
IMHO, this is the best FantasyLand ride in any Disney park. So well done. What's really cool is if you time it just right, you come to the outside area while the parade is going by. Very cool!
We saw you there. Twice last week. Made my day to see a Disney Celebrity. We were in line for Alice, and saw you filming. Thank you for saying hello while we were waiting for Astro Orbitor.
Was not the only dark ride built from 1955 to 1983. At least 2 that i know of built in that time frame. Mr Toads wild ride and Peter Pan. Both were refurbished in 1983. Love Disneyland . I was Little Lord Fauntleroy on a float in a Disneyland main street parade in 1962. I still have a thank you letter i received for participating. One time When i was 13 i walked 10 miles to Disneyland just to walk around the perimeter and watch the monorail and listen to the sounds of the park. Watching your videos brings back so many joyous memories. Thank you.
Thank you so much for making this video of the History of Alice wonderland ride!!! ❤️Please continue to make videos of all the fantasy land rides. Also do you remember a Candy store inside the Castle back the 1970s? I had the best memories there when I was little.
I was just in the mad hatter shop last Thur and totally didn’t notice all those details you pointed out 😮 guess that’s what happens when you have littles in tow. They love the Alice ride tho-thanks for sharing! Peter Pan is my childhood fav ride and I’d love to learn more secrets!
Thank you, Chris, for another wonderful vid! Alice has become one of my family's favorite dark ride at the DLR. If possible, I would like a "secrets revealed" vid on the Pirates of Caribbean ride in New Orleans Square.
Chris! My mom and I are doing a week long Disney trip in two weeks! Hope to I Spy the Park Pass Guy while we're there, aka YOU! Thank you for the continuous content, and more importantly, thank you for being you!
So happy we got to ride this ride last weekend. We waited in line for 20 minutes and it broke down. Then they gave us front of the line passes to come back. ❤
"You stay inside your caterpillar" That's actually not true. I was at the top of the leaves directly in front of the first guard rail and I walked down the entire path. If you saw AmandaLand's video where she crashed through the door, I was two caterpillars behind her. We all walked down the ride path.
Omg amazing video!!!!! Really really great 💕💕💕💕💕💕💕 been on Alice several times and never noticed these things - you are the best at making thess kinds of videos. No one else does!
You make my life so fabulous, Chris ❣️ I cannot go to Disneyland as often as I like but I feel like I am there watching your videos! When I am able to go I always have more to look for because of watching your informative and fun videos🤗 Thank you so much!!! The Haunted Mansion would be an awesome video for secrets😊
CHRIS!!! Have you ever seen the Mad Hatter and Alice ride the Tea Cups?! I walked by at the right time and recorded the whole ride! Never seen that before and it brought so many smiles all around- including me!! ❤
I love these secrets revealed videos! A video about Peter Pan would be great. I don’t think many people are aware of the scavenger hunt game you can play while waiting in the queue using the Disney Play app. When you find the lantern something magical happens.
You are amazing! Thank you for all these wonderful videos. They make the days and months and years between visits bearable. I would love to see any and all the rides as secrets revealed. Thank you. You lift my spirits.
the mad hatter hat shop is where i got my mickey ears when i went as a kid!!!!! i got my name embroidered on them too. my mom took my picture in the doorway shown at 21:10 and the memory feels so vivid seeing the shop again.
i love the alice in wonderland attraction! the photo op is so cute, too. i’ve had my son try to open the door for a photo since he was little; it’s fun to compare the shots, as he’s now 21. 😄
Great video. I see they were able to mitigate the railings on the elevated track way. After cast members were worried they could fall off track at nighttime walk-through, it looked like they would have to fence it all in. It looks good now.
Another awesome video! These are my favorite types of videos. Just a couple of items. There is a caterpillar that can have the back door opened, in order to assist those who need to slide onto the ride. Regarding the White Rabbit vs Alice's ride, I had been told that we were taking the place of Alice as we ride along. So, it is Alice's ride. You hear her voice telling her adventures. 😊
Great video Chris! Did you know there is a similar Alice in Wonderland ride at Blackpool Pleasure Beach, in the UK. It's funny, I thought the vehicles at Blackpool were also caterpillars, but it turns out they are the Cheshire Cat! Xx
I simply LOVE the Alice in Wonderland ride since I was a little girl, it didn't scare me. My brother was wondering about the secrets of the stages in Disneyland. Have you every done a show on that? I do remember giving blood for the Red Cross on the Fantasyland stage when I was working there in the 1970s. Love it!!
Thank you for selecting Alice it’s my favorite Fantasy Land ride ❤. I have ridden this ride so many times but didn’t notice some of the details you showcased. I recently got stuck outside on the curves of the Alice ride and we had to leave the caterpillar car and were escorted by a cast member and we were not allowed to take any pictures and we walked from the outside into the ride then walked past the ending tea party scene to the exit. The first time it happened, I had to stop everything and just breathe for a while. Thank you, Chris. You sooth troubled spirits and lift heavy hearts.
I would like to see this "secrets revealed" format on some of the old defunct rides, for example the Swan Boats, the Mike Fink Keel Boats, The Flight to the Moon, Adventures in Inner Space, the 20,000 Leagues walk through attraction, the Pack Mules, the Space Station x-1 attraction, etc. This may be more difficult to do as you would have to use photos rather than a live point of view camera talk. You may be able to start in the approximate location of the ride live and go from there into the rostrum videos. Love your videos, and your up beat and sensitive caring attitude. Channeling a bit of Fred Rogers humanitarianism. Live Long and Prosper.
I live in Yorkshire (white rose! Hurray!) and just down the road from where Lewis Carroll was born. I can confirm there is still some (friendly-ish) rivalry, even now, between Yorkshire and Lancashire - especially the cricket teams! It's my dream to visit the US one day and get to see one of the Disney parks. Thank you for these videos - I really enjoy seeing all the little details of the parks. Disney is all about attention to detail!
This is so interesting! Thanks for sharing 😊 I love the whole Alice in Wonderland area, it's so cute and classic Disney. I can't wait to return to Disneyland Resort in November!
There are only 3 Alices because originally there were none. In the original ride You were Alice, immersed in her land. But people were confused as to why they never saw Alice, so she was added.
Chris, I've only been to Disneyland once on a family vacation, but out of all the rides there, my faves are the Alice in Wonderland ride and It's a Small World. I live on the East coast and I've been to Disney World several times when I was younger. 🙂
I grew up in the shadow of Disneyland. My dad was a Disneyland and Disney World artist for 20 years . @@jonboozI agree!
@@jonboozI too worked at Disneyland as a ride operator in the late 70s - mid 80s (New Orleans/ Bear Country), and yeah…many, many stories. 😆
Is it also true that Walt didn't want overweight people to work at Disneyland?
My stubborn grandpa got fired for not trimming his hair, and my grandma was so mad cuz they just offered her a job as Snow White 😂
A couple of years ago, I got on the ride while the Electrical Light Parade was going on. I managed to come out the door on the second level at the same time as Alice's float was passing by.
Wow , THAT'S magical !
Pirates of the Caribbean secrets! Or Peter Pan! Or Pinocchio!
Oh gosh, I love them all! ✨🧚✨
I love Alice in Wonderland. I remember riding it as a child, and I try to ride it every time I go to Disneyland. I also remember my father buying ticket books at the mushroom. RIP, Mom and Dad. I miss you.

Today's message hit home with the 'you are enough' part. Thanks so much for that. Much needed. You are such a blessing...
Storybook Land! It’s my favorite unique, low key attraction at Disneyland. I’d love to hear any secrets. I also want to hear how they cultivate the miniature plants in the attraction.
I love that ride! But the queue is made for tiny people!
Alice has been my absolute favorite Disney character/movies/stories all my life! I absolutely love the live action movies as well! Unfortunately, she's one of the hardest characters to find merchandise for!!!

The Alice in Wonderland womens bathroom is adorable. The stall doors are playing cards.

Very well done, Chris. Love the stories and secrets.

Chris ! Are you going to Oogie Boogie ? I’ve been waiting for your video and this is my first time going next week!

Thank you, Chris, for such an awesome journey and for the history you shared with us all. Me and the wifey loved it 💯
Only dark ride between 55 and 83? I am not an expert but what about Peter Pan, Pirates, Haunted Mansion?
Yeah…?
He said “built.” What I think he means is that even though others were designed by Disney, they were built by outside companies whereas Alice was built by Disney. (Maybe, idk, just a thought lol)
I'm wondering too.... plenty of dark rides prior to '83.
@@anthonypecorara That can't be what he means surely. Disney built, had built, contracted to be built have to be the same thing here.

Actually he said that Mr Toad's currently runs underneath the Alice ride. They share, & have shared that show building for quite some time now.

I would love to see Peter Pan secrets. Thanks for all your awesome videos. I really appreciate you.
Chris, I've only been to Disneyland once on a family vacation, but out of all the rides there, my faves are the Alice in Wonderland ride and It's a Small World. I live on the East coast and I've been to Disney World several times when I was younger. 🙂
Give us secrets of Indiana Jones. We love this ride!
