Tommy, maybe THIS is the reaction that finally shows you why all of us Losties would sacrifice everything for this band and why Lord of the Lost is not just a band, not just music, but a worldview and a comprehensive sentiment that goes beyond what most people can fathom. We're talking about many bands in our daily lives or after watching your reactions, but LOTL cannot really be compared with anyone. Not only because the diversity of their creations (being genre-fluid) makes them stand out anyway, but also because everything that makes these guys who they are sets them apart from anyone else. The story about your dad, what you shared with us, how you were bursting into tears, I will never take this open view on your heart for granted. These moments, how "Lighthouse" made you forget about the entire world and transported you into your own emotional sphere, are something I will never forget. It is absolutely heartbreaking what happened to your dad and you, but it means the world that you allowed us to see your soul. This is what makes your reactions, but also you as a human being, different from all others. I'm sure that all the feelings that were evoked within me while seeing you tearing up will haunt me for a while - but not in a negative way, just in the most connecting and deepest way you can imagine. Thank you from the bottom of my heart - but since I also shared a lot of emotional stories with you, the willingness for connection comes from both sides. Really look into the "Swan Songs"-albums, my friend - "Lighthouse" is a part of them, and the orchestral ambience of these masterpieces will enable you to see an entirely different facet of LOTL. "Blood & Glitter" is still a reaction you shouldn't forget about though!✨️😝🩸
Thank you Elendil! I've loved getting to know you, and so grateful that you would even let me in. Yea, I wasn't ready for this song. The way he sing "Wake Up" just was so haunting to me and familar. Truly beautiful, and even in German it was equally as powerful! Amazing song. Thank you for taking time to get to know me, and I'm honored to call you a brother!
Hi Elendil, what some amazing words, truly well said. I know of no other band that releases an album, then releases the "Naked" versions in the swan songs, and then hits you again with the Swan symphonies! Beyond talented!
This is weird. I don't mean this in a disrespectful way, pls, but the english version did not do anything for me personally, like most of LotL's songs. I wanted to quit already, but then watched the german version. I had chills all the way through and almost cried. This is not because I'm German, but there is something very different when an artist writes and sings in his native language. There is something very authentic and genuine about that and I wished more artist, also LotL, would do this more. Because it's beautiful. Much love my friend, you know we are brothers in arms in this, as I also lost my father as a teenager. It was a very different situation, but the sting aching in my heart will never go away.
Agree with you, the German version is something very special. On a selfish/personal note, I am glad they sing in English, but would not hesitate to buy all their albums again if they were sung in German.
Just what the Doctor ordered, a double dose of LOTL. What a fabulous reaction, spilling your soul to the world. It takes a lot of courage to to say what you said, and I and all here are truly grateful for your honest and heartfelt reaction to the songs. This band knows no limits, the hard rock and almost growling of Loreley to an emotional rollercoaster like these two. The German version sounds a little heavier, but my god what a talent they are. Thank you Tommy for this, what an incredible reaction, take care of yourself and thank you for letting us into your life a little with a truly heart wrenching story, so so sorry for your loss. Vielen Dank!
Thanks for these two great songs and for sharing your feelings. Despite everything that you've been through, you made it through and you turned out to be a great human being who touches the lives of many.
I heard this song for the first time and I was in tears after the first few notes. That's what this band does to you. It touches your soul on a completely different level. I only discovered LOTL a month ago and was immediately a big fan. I'm discovering all their great music at the moment and like you, feel that they are great and humble people. Now I'm looking forward to seeing them live for the first time at the end of March. Thank you for your honest reaction and I am very sorry for your loss. I've been following your channel since the beginning and I have discovered many great songs and artists through you. Thank you for that and also for providing such a beautiful community in which everyone can be who they are.❤

This is probably my favorite song from LOTL. I discovered them early in the pandemic when I really needed a band like them. I'm glad to see them getting more well-deserved love Edit: Now that I've watched the full video, wow, thank you for sharing. It takes a lot of bravery to be vulnerable like that

I've listened to it probably hundreds of times (both versions) and every time the feeling is extremely deep... Lord Of The Lost is my favorite band and I adore their music: it's become a very significant part of my life!
The first one was really good. Just a slow, meaningful track with heart. I dig it. I have been very vocal about the loses I have dealt with over my 47 years. It never gets any easier, you start to expect it from everyone. In some of our cases we have lost everyone. I'm sorry Tommy about you losing your father. It's a rough thing knowone should have to go threw.
thank you for showing us your feelings. Last November I had the honour seeing this song performed live at Leipzig Gewandhaus. I wish you had had the chance to be there. Take care. Please feel embraced - I fear the loss of my parents totally, knowing we do not have very much time left. So I feel you very much. Greetings from Germany.
Hello there. Another great reaction from what is fast becoming my favorite TH-camr. This was emotional and shows a vulnerability that takes courage to show in today's world. Please, keep on this journey. Also, if you are looking for another double whammy from LOTL, may I suggest Till Death Us Do Part & My Constellation. They are a part of a full story and, while still emotional, are more on the laughter side of things. Again, thank you so much for the reactions and understand, that with time and effort, all will be better.
WOW! I'm really honored to even being considered that to you. Thank you so much for the kind words and the encouragement. I truly love that we are building a inclusive community here that focuses on our love for music and relationships.
I love the way you REACT to the SONGS, and I love it even more how you react to German songs (LORD OF THE LOST! "Lighthouse" and "Wie Ein Licht In Dunkeler Nacht"). This video of yours really captivated me
You are incredible, lovable, feelfully ... in the best way and my heart goes wise open, listening to you and your sad life-story. I'm so sorry for what happened to you. Always it is to great to listen to you and oh yesss ... Chris' voice is not from this earth. I love both versions, but never would miss the german version since i listened to it. It's more in a flow and sounds so strong and energetic. And again his voice ... I'm full of hope that he does this more often: Singing in German
I cried my eyes out when I heard this song for the first time. My daughter wanted to take her own life 3 years ago. This song hits me hard. Those are the exact words I wish I could have said to her during that period. Fortunately she's alright now. But still I get emotional hearing this song.
Thank you for being so open and sharing your deeply personal story. Under no circumstance should you apologize for your reaction. It was real and raw and shows the overwhelming power of lyrics, text, and music. How and what one reacts to is always personal to the individual; it is sometimes unexpected, and when this happens to me I embrace it wholeheartedly. Your honesty, warmth, enthusiasm, and the fact that I can see you feel the music makes you one of the best reaction channels on this platform for me. ♥️
I dont really know what to say. When I started this journey of building a community around music. The focus was for authenticity and being able to be real. It still makes me feel a bit cringe crying because I really am deeply empathic, but I also dont want to be "That person" on the internet. I have had a few songs on my journey that have broke me. I'm just thankful to meet people that feel and want to experience music with me.
I think it's really cool that he first listened to the entire song and then reacted, not like many others who pause at least 100 times and talk in between
Greetings and Love from Germany again 💚. Awesome reaction like always, buddy. And great you did both versions. I'm honest now, i've heard both versions here together with you for the first time. And cried with you together. After I regained my composure, something caught my eye. Chris didn't translate the German text one-to-one into English, although I assume that the German text is the original. Well, i thought i translate it for you, word for word?, verbatim, from german to englisch. First the englisch lyrics from 'Lighthouse'. "You're sleeping with no chance to dream. Life has become a silent scream. You've gone through hell. You've lost your fight. But it's time to rise, the time to rise. Wake up, wake up Light a candle in the dark Wake up, wake up Light a fire in your heart We are your rock against the flood. So don't let go. We are your lighthouse in the dark. When all seems lost So don't let go, don't let go Deep in the shadows, beauty hides A wondrous world is yours to find The code is black with this invite And the dream is a life, embrace the night Wake up, wake up Light a candle in the dark Wake up, wake up Light a fire in your heart We are your rock against the flood So don't let go We are your lighthouse in the dark When all seems lost So don't let go, don't let go You're one of us now This moment's to share, there's hope in despair Wake up, wake up Light a candle in the dark Wake up, wake up Light a fire in your heart We are your rock against the flood So don't let go We are your lighthouse in the dark When all seems lost So don't let go We are your rock against the flood You're one of us So don't let go We are your lighthouse in the dark When all seems lost So don't let go Don't let go Wake up, wake up Wake up, wake up No, don't let go. (The End) Well, my friend, and here is the translation of "Wie ein Licht in dunkler Nacht" (Like a light in the dark night). Some nights it appears to you as if no man were near to another. Not moon nor star, You stand but mute, clad in heavy black. Shine! Shine! Like a light in the dead of night. Shine! Shine! Your light is multiplied a thousandfold. The long shadows fly away, and our world steps into the light. The gloom dies at dawn, can you behold it? And our world steps into the light, If only you choose to. A black shadow lies on you. No matter where you go. The coldness reaches for your heart. And no one hears, what plea you make. Shine! Shine! Like a light in the dead of night. Shine! Shine! Your light is multiplied a thousandfold. The long shadows fly away, and our world steps into the light. The gloom dies at dawn, can you behold it? And our world steps into the light, If only you choose to. A star in the night, a fire that burns, all that is you. Shine! Shine! Like a light in the dead of night. Shine! Shine! Like a fire in the night! The long shadows fly away and our world emerges into the light. The dark dies at dawn, can you behold it? And our world emerges into the light. The long shadows fly away, Just say a word, And our world emerges into the light. The gloom dies at dawn, Can you behold it? And our world emerges into the light. If only you choose to. Shine! Shine! You are a star! (The End) Well, i love the original german lyrics, but i think the lyrics of 'Lighthouse' i even love a bit more. Anyway, again it shows what a genious in songwriting Chris really is. Hey, buddy ..i wish you a peaceful weekend & stay safe❤
@@howlandgrowl Thank you very much for your feedback. To be honest, my English is so bad that I preferred to use the translator. Without it it would have taken me days. But I don't use the one from Google but one called "Lyrics Translate" because I know how messed up the Google translator can be. That's why I just looked at how big the difference between the two is when translating. And hell yeah, it's big. I just don't understand why Google is so crappy at translating. Well, in Google's defense, many wonderful German texts are often written very poetically and are difficult to translate properly, as the English language is very limited in terms of versatility. Nevertheless, I think the English version is more suitable.
@@stefanstock953 I think you are being a bit hard on yourself concerning your English, it is very good. I tried for many years to learn German, and apart from the word order, time, manner, place etc. I was completely baffled. Then adding two or three words together to make one word blew my mind. I know quite a few German words but nowhere near enough to put a proper sentence together. It really is a strange song when you compare the two versions, the German song seems to be completely different in context to the English version? Not sure which one was first, but maybe the English version or vice versa could not translate directly and have the same meaning? At the end of the day, two magnificent songs, regardless of language.
Your reaction is so pure and honest. Thank you for sharing it! I'm deeply sorry for your loss and can relate to that, I lost my mom a few years ago, but never have I interpreted the "wake up" the way you did it! That's what music does, everyone can take out the bit, that suits his/her own needs at the moment. Thank you for that other dimension you see in that song. Those two songs became very important to me during the last years and brought me through a really though time. The german version a bit more than the english one, due to the fact, that in my opinion the german lyrics are a bit more on point and more emotional for me. It's really fascinating, that you (I asume that) don't understand the lyrics and describe that version as more emotional and deeper in a way.
My respect for showing your deepest feelings, it's very rare and takes enormous courage. This is surely one of my faves from LOTL (which are my favourite band, as you can imagine) and I'm happy they're finally getting the recognition they deserve. I'll check your other videos soon, stay just the way you are. Live from Rome, big hug
Ive loved diving into their music so much. One of my absolute favorite songs is Voodoo Doll. Thank you so much for being here. I appreciate the kind words so much!
i lost my father at 12, mother at 19 (not a contest, everyone feels and reacts differntly, just saying i emphasize a lot). some people/memories will never leave your memories.
It's nice to see that German music is received so sensitively in America and is not always as terrible as it is shown in many other videos. Kind regards from Germany ❤
Thank you for sharing your story. It's incredible how music can make us feel these things in a different way. I'm sorry you lost your dad this way, I can tell he helped make you a good person, too. I lost my father when I was 2, I remember nothing about him. I wonder what kind of person he would have been today. Yeah, LOTL bringing in the onion ninjas again... The German version messed me up a little here.
Thought I would wait a couple of days before making this comment. As we all know with LOTL it's not a musical journey they take us on, it's a visual experience too. I have listened/watched these video's hundreds of times since their release, and I think we all know the meaning of this song. I'm sure many of you will have noticed this in the videos, but for those who have not maybe watch again. All the scenes with Chris are shot in greyscale, whilst all the scenes with the beautiful Jessica are in full colour. Just adds another level of this bands attention to detail, and gives me extra goosebumps every listen.
I must admit that I completely forgot about German version of this song. And Lighthouse is a beautiful song, but I never had deeper connection with it, but today German version was like *instant goosebumps*. Chris' vocal feels much more emotional.
People sometimes say german is so harsh, how come his voice is so much gentler and deeper (or is it just my ears?) in the that version 🤔 and I think it is great that there is people like you who are strong enough to show their emotions❤.
Thank you Tomy for opening up your emotions😪 Lord Off TheLost is a quality band, sing in German or English.....emotions, voice, words, music always remain emotional........
Much love dear friend! I believe we have to get back to the beauty of emotions and our humanity. To grow together in love, and be a positive force in each others life!
Just an amazing reaction, and a true one. There is another song from them that is so so emotional. It's called One Last Song. I'm sure you will get emocional with this song which is about singing one last song and do everything we want before leaving this world. Love your reactions!!
Dear Tommy, if you did not found it, here are the german lyrics from "Wie ein Licht in dunkler Nacht".
Leuchte! Leuchte! Leuchte! Leuchte! Du bist ein Stern! With the help of google translator and my brain, here you have the translation back: Like A Light In A Dark Night Some nights it seems to you as if no one person was close to the other. Not moon nor star, you just stand there silently dressed in heavy black.
Shimmer! Shimmer! Like a light in a dark night. Shimmer! Shimmer! Your light will be multiplied a thousandfold. The long shadows fly away, and our world comes into the light. The darkness dies at dawn, can you watch it? And our world comes into the light, if only you want. A black shadow lies on you, no matter where you go, The cold grabs your heart, and no one hears what you ask.
Shimmer! Shimmer! Shimmer! Shimmer! Shimmer! Like a light in a dark night. Shimmer! Shimmer! Your light will be multiplied a thousandfold. The long shadows fly away, and our world comes into the light. The darkness dies at dawn, can you watch it? And our world comes into the light, if only you want. A star in the night, a fire that burns, you are all that.
Shimmer! Shimmer! Like a light in a dark night. Shimmer! Shimmer! Like a fire in the night! The long shadows fly away, and our world comes into the light. The darkness dies at dawn, can you watch it? And our world comes into the light. The long shadows fly away, just say one word, and our world comes into the light. The darkness dies at dawn, can you watch it? And our world comes into the light. If only you want.
Shimmer! Shimmer! Shimmer! Shimmer! You are a star! All my love to you, take care. Petra from Germany.
@@TheWolffAndTheMelody You're welcome! 😊 Sorry for my bad english. I fear, my translation of "Leuchte" is not completely accurate. "Leuchte" could also be better translated in "Shine on". ....but I guess the meaning is close. Hope you will be able to find the strict translation with the help of better or native speakers. Please feel hugged. Petra
It's a bit strange but I listen to the song quite often these days. My mother died suddenly at the beginning of October and I was with her too. I held her hand. I always thought my parents hated each other. But my father only has one wish. To follow her. And it looks like he's almost there. Feel depressed. And yes, Chris should sing in German more often. Because the German language is predestined to play with.
Hallo.
you must must must listen to "Ribcages" & "Euphoria". These 2 songs complete the incredible spectrum of LOL's ability and talent. Been writing and producing music for 45 years my friend and I tell you THIS band is one of the greatest bands I have ever come across.
It's nice that you react to it, but the German translation into English was so horrible that I could hardly translate it myself But it was still a very emotional text and a very nice song, I can confirm that, greetings from Germany
I often wonder if they had chosen one last song for Eurovision, if the results would have been the same? I just don't think blood and glitter was a song that would appeal to the wider audience?
@@howlandgrowl I agree, I saw Blodd and glitter in the pre finals, my first thought was.. this is gonna be last. It's just not the music for this type of event. I think they were inspired by the success of Italy's Måneskin with their rock song Zitti e Buoni, so they tried to pull the crowd with a rockier song...
Oh jeesh! I also lost my sister a few years ago so I feel for you deeply! Sending you love and light. If you are on any socials and need to chat, let me know!
Thank you for telling your story! Love!
Thank you for the powerful song!

I cried my eyes out when I heard this song for the first time. My daughter wanted to take her own life 3 years ago. This song hits me hard. Those are the exact words I wish I could have said to her during that period. Fortunately she's alright now. But still I get emotional hearing this song.
I'm so glad you guys made it thru! So much love your way friend.
I think it's really cool that he first listened to the entire song and then reacted, not like many others who pause at least 100 times and talk in between
Appreciate you friend
@ The Wolff And The MelodybYour reaction after the video of the English version was so emotional, I even had tears in my eyes 🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺
This caught me off guard. Thanks for being here friend.
Wake up, wake up
Light a candle in the dark
Wake up, wake up
Light a fire in your heart
We are your rock against the flood.
So don't let go.
We are your lighthouse in the dark.
When all seems lost
So don't let go, don't let go
Deep in the shadows, beauty hides
A wondrous world is yours to find
The code is black with this invite
And the dream is a life, embrace the night
Wake up, wake up
Light a candle in the dark
Wake up, wake up
Light a fire in your heart
We are your rock against the flood
So don't let go
We are your lighthouse in the dark
When all seems lost
So don't let go, don't let go
You're one of us now
This moment's to share, there's hope in despair
Wake up, wake up
Light a candle in the dark
Wake up, wake up
Light a fire in your heart
We are your rock against the flood
So don't let go
We are your lighthouse in the dark
When all seems lost
So don't let go
We are your rock against the flood
You're one of us
So don't let go
We are your lighthouse in the dark
When all seems lost
So don't let go
Don't let go
Wake up, wake up
Wake up, wake up
No, don't let go. (The End)
Well, my friend, and here is the translation of "Wie ein Licht in dunkler Nacht" (Like a light in the dark night).
Some nights it appears to you
as if no man were near to another.
Not moon nor star,
You stand but mute, clad in heavy black.
Shine!
Shine!
Like a light in the dead of night.
Shine!
Shine!
Your light is multiplied a thousandfold.
The long shadows fly away,
and our world steps into the light.
The gloom dies at dawn,
can you behold it?
And our world steps into the light,
If only you choose to.
A black shadow lies on you.
No matter where you go.
The coldness reaches for your heart.
And no one hears, what plea you make.
Shine!
Shine!
Like a light in the dead of night.
Shine!
Shine!
Your light is multiplied a thousandfold.
The long shadows fly away,
and our world steps into the light.
The gloom dies at dawn,
can you behold it?
And our world steps into the light,
If only you choose to.
A star in the night,
a fire that burns,
all that is you.
Shine!
Shine!
Like a light in the dead of night.
Shine!
Shine!
Like a fire in the night!
The long shadows fly away
and our world emerges into the light.
The dark dies at dawn,
can you behold it?
And our world emerges into the light.
The long shadows fly away,
Just say a word,
And our world emerges into the light.
The gloom dies at dawn,
Can you behold it?
And our world emerges into the light.
If only you choose to.
Shine!
Shine!
You are a star!
(The End)
Well, i love the original german lyrics, but i think the lyrics of 'Lighthouse' i even love a bit more. Anyway, again it shows what a genious in songwriting Chris really is. Hey, buddy ..i wish you a peaceful weekend & stay safe❤
I did a google translation and the German version made absolutely no sense compared to the English version. Thanks for the proper translation.
At the end of the day, two magnificent songs, regardless of language.
much love friend! Thank you for writing them out!
@@TheWolffAndTheMelody awe, no big deal, i was curious, so i had it done anyway, cause i wanted to check them out for myself.
Thanks, man! All the best for you! ❤
Much love dude! Keep makin that sweet music❤
Thank you so much for sharing. Sending you love friend. I really loved the flow of the german version.
Goosebumps ❤. One of my favorite songs. Greetings from Germany.
Much love friend! Greetings from West Virginia!
Thank you! Much love!
Appreciate you!
Oh I loved each second of both songs ! Thanks for sharing !
Appreciste you friend!
i lost my father at 12, mother at 19 (not a contest, everyone feels and reacts differntly, just saying i emphasize a lot). some people/memories will never leave your memories.
Much love Pat.
It's nice to see that German music is received so sensitively in America and is not always as terrible as it is shown in many other videos. Kind regards from Germany ❤
much love friend!
The German version messed me up a little here.
yea dude these songs were beautiful! My heart goes out to you friend.
@@TheWolffAndTheMelody Thank you. Sending you hugs if you want them
Thought I would wait a couple of days before making this comment.
Wow I never realized that! Thank you so much for bringing that forward. Thats so amazing.
I must admit that I completely forgot about German version of this song. And Lighthouse is a beautiful song, but I never had deeper connection with it, but today German version was like *instant goosebumps*. Chris' vocal feels much more emotional.
Its amazing how music can just hit. Im glad you enjoyed this!
@@TheWolffAndTheMelody No music, no life ;-)
@@peoplenotabigfan.2008 So true!
People sometimes say german is so harsh, how come his voice is so much gentler and deeper (or is it just my ears?) in the that version 🤔 and I think it is great that there is people like you who are strong enough to show their emotions❤.
Oh I thought it was so beautiful here!
Hmm just reflecting on his voice, feel like there is different emotion in the voice in German.
Lord of the Lost from Hamburg/Germany. :D I tell you we have a lot of great and fun bands here. ;-)
Yea you really do! This song though....damn.
I actually did that song
Oh yeah I forgot it!!! Just found the video. Sorry, my fault 🤣🤣
@@thedarkboy676 Oh your good dude!
Dear Tommy, if you did not found it, here are the german lyrics from "Wie ein Licht in dunkler Nacht".
In German:
Wie Ein Licht In Dunkler Nacht
In manchen Nächten scheint es dir,
als wär kein Mensch dem andern nah.
Nicht Mond noch Stern,
du stehst nur stumm in schwerem Schwarz gekleidet da.
Leuchte!
Leuchte!
Wie ein Licht in dunkler Nacht.
Leuchte!
Leuchte!
Dein Licht wird vertausendfacht.
Die langen Schatten fliegen fort,
und unsere Welt tritt ins Licht.
Das Dunkel stirbt im Morgengrauen,
kannst du es schauen?
Und unsere Welt tritt ins Licht,
wenn du nur willst.
Ein schwarzer Schatten liegt auf dir,
ganz egal wohin du gehst,
Die Kälte greift nach deinem Herz,
und niemand hört, was du erflehst.
Leuchte! Leuchte! Leuchte!
Leuchte!
Leuchte!
Wie ein Licht in dunkler Nacht.
Leuchte!
Leuchte!
Dein Licht wird vertausendfacht.
Die langen Schatten fliegen fort,
und unsere Welt tritt ins Licht.
Das Dunkel stirbt im Morgengrauen,
kannst du es schauen?
Und unsere Welt tritt ins Licht,
wenn du nur willst.
Ein Stern in der Nacht,
ein Feuer das brennt,
das alles bist du.
Leuchte!
Leuchte!
Wie ein Licht in dunkler Nacht.
Leuchte!
Leuchte!
Wie ein Feuer in der Nacht!
Die langen Schatten fliegen fort,
und unsere Welt tritt ins Licht.
Das Dunkel stirbt im Morgengrauen,
kannst du es schauen?
Und unsere Welt tritt ins Licht.
Die langen Schatten fliegen fort,
sag nur ein Wort,
und unsere Welt tritt ins Licht.
Das Dunkel stirbt im Morgengrauen,
kannst du es schauen?
Und unsere Welt tritt ins Licht.
Wenn du nur willst.
Leuchte!
Leuchte!
Leuchte!
Leuchte!
Du bist ein Stern!

Oh i'm sorry for what your going thru friend
Wow i didn’t know of the german version thank you
Yeah they’re great .. with check out more of your channel heh
Hallo.
you must must must listen to "Ribcages" & "Euphoria". These 2 songs complete the incredible spectrum of LOL's ability and talent. Been writing and producing music for 45 years my friend and I tell you THIS band is one of the greatest bands I have ever come across.
Ohhhh sweet! I will have to check it out. I really love what they are doing.

´this song is such an emotions killer
I like the German version of "Lighthouse" much better. The lyrics are more profound. I would love it if LOTL would sing more in German.
That would be cool to hear more in German.
It's nice that you react to it, but the German translation into English was so horrible that I could hardly translate it myself
But it was still a very emotional text and a very nice song, I can confirm that, greetings from Germany
❤ love this song so much❤! 🥲 Thanks for your reaction ❤ (i have lost my dad too, when i was 23 years old and my brother was 17)
