I would argue the 90's was the best era to be alive because pretty much every genre of music reached it's peak, the party culture was at it's peak and it was the beginning of the music video era. I love Guns N Roses and Metallica though Motley Crue music is also true rock.
Metal fingers was started by Ronnie James Dio because his grandmother did it to protect him from “the evil eye” so he introduced it so his fans would be protected too.
My mom has been a teen since 1980 and she was a heavy metal girl for life she also went to see Motley Crue at The Whiskey A Go Go and US Festival in 1983

The hand gesture was made well known when Ronnie James Dio was in Black Sabbath, which he adopted from his southern Italian grandmother called the Malocchio-Evil Eye. People in the states mainly think ir is the devils horns sign, though not true

Hi pretty Russian Lady, the way that you said the band's name was perfect. You don't have to worry about the two dots above the letter's "o" and "u", you said the name correctly. The dots don't mean anything. According to the story about that from an interview that I watched on the band. The singer Vince Neal said that when they were trying to come up with a name for the band and finally all of them agreed on the name Motley Crue, Vince said that they just happened to be drinking a brand of beer called "Löwenbräu" at the time. As you can see, there are two dots right above the letter's "o" and "a". Vince said that he thought that looked really cool, so he decided to use those same kind of dots in the band's name. And as far as the devil horns hand sign that they flash in heavy metal music over here, metal singer Ronnie James Dio is often credited with popularizing the devil horns hand sign in heavy metal, but others claim that Jinx Dawson of the band Coven was the first to use it. Dawson, the lead singer of the band Coven, is said to have used the devil horns before anyone else, as evidenced by their 1969 album artwork. Dawson has said that the gesture is universal and belongs to everyone. While Ronnie James Dio, the man who popularized the hand sign says that his Italian grandmother used the sign to ward off the evil eye, also known as malocchio. He began using the sign after joining Black Sabbath in 1979, when he wanted to set himself apart from Ozzy Osbourne, who flashed double peace signs on stage. The devil horns hand sign is not universally known as a heavy metal hand signal. In some cultures, it's meant to ward off evil spirits. Being a songwriter, vocalist and multi-instrumentalist myself, I played in rock bands in the late 80's and early 90's, so I know quite a bit about a lot of these bands. I even got to meet a few of the musicians in person as well. You had a great reaction to the video. Nice job! 😊🎹🎸🎵🎶🎼👍❤❤❤❤

No, that's the sign language gesture for 'I love you' (it represents a combination for the sign language letters: I, L and Y). 🤟 The rock/metal devil horns are represented with a tucked thumb. 🤘
When the sign is made with the thumb extended, it’s sign language for “I Love You”. When it’s just two fingers without the thumb, it’s satanic (Baphomet, the goat demon) and used a lot in rock and metal by a lot of people that think it means “metal music”.
