Solo Female Motorcycle Camping in the Rain | Balsam Lake Provincial Park | Canada!

Welcome to Camping with Kim - my new camping channel and my seventh adventure!
Join me on my summer camping adventure to Balsam Lake Provincial Park in Ontario Canada. I ride my Honda CBR motorcycle 1.5 hours north east of Toronto through some beautiful side roads and see some quiet lakes, locks and waterfalls.
It’s not a long ride but it’s also my first time riding with a large bag loaded with camping gear, so I take it easy with lots of breaks. With the added rain necessities, I was really packed to the brim. Admittedly, it was rather disheartening to hear that my first motorcycle camping trip was going to have rain but I was determined to go through with my adventure nevertheless.
I was incredibly lucky and arrived at camp to setup my tent before it started pouring rain. After taking some videos outside, I was able to take shelter and wait for the rain to pass to finish unpacking.
Trying to be compact, I brought the bare minimum to make a simple self-cooking dinner in my steel bento box with a simple drink on the side.
Some nearby campers graciously surprised me with a free bag of wood! So friendly! They stopped and said they saw my red sports bike and knew I wasn’t going to be lugging wood all the way from the gatehouse. Because of them, I was able to enjoy a nice fire while I snacked on some chips, instead of playing on my phone all night.
I wake up the next morning to a tremendous amount of rain pitter-pattering on my tent. It was a wonderful sound and made me glad I didn’t bail on this rainy adventure. I generally tend to follow the don’t-eat-in-tent rule, but I went ahead and made a quick pancake breakfast in bed.
The clouds parted for a brief moment, and allowed me to go on a short hike along the lake front of Balsam Lake. There is a large boat launch in the park where I spotted a giant catfish swimming just below the floating docks. Maybe next time I should bring my fishing rod to try my luck at catching some largemouth bass and crappie!
This park is very accessible due to the short drive from Toronto and I feel like I would visit again to get on the lake.

Hi Kim, Dave from Ohio here. I really enjoyed your motorcycle trip to Balsam Lake. It amazing how much stuff you packed. Sorry about the rain but it was a good thing in bringing your motorcycle cover🏍️💦. I enjoyed dinner with rice which made me happy. It was nice that the neighboring campers gave you wood for a fire. Hi Dave! Thank you :) I've met the nicest people while camping - of course there can be exceptions but I think generally it draws the nice-people crowd :) I hope to try some more motorcycle camping soon as it gets warmer ☀️

What a great video. I am amazed you can pack all your kit on the bike in one bag. I like your cooker. I'll have to look that up. I've been riding motorcycles for almost 50 years and camping on them almost as long. It is a wonderful way to travel.

Thanks fellow rider! You must have a lot of riding experience with 50 years! The freedom on a bike is quite different! I'm still getting used to riding on bumpy dirt roads and my sports bike isn't really helping lol. I'm always looking for smaller and lighter camp gear because I'm addicted to camp gear shopping (haha) but also I want to try backpacking some day too.
