I love firearms, but truly appreciate PCP airguns. They are awesome for plinking and small game hunting. Quieter and cheaper than even 22LR. My Benjamin P-rod is so much fun I enjoy it every bit as much as my firearms. Airguns should have a place in any marksman's collection!

puppetmaster983 I got into air rifles to couple of years ago because it just is too expensive to go shoot a powder burners at the range whenever I want. Now I have a backyard range with steel spinner targets and I no longer have a sparrow or rat problem. I'm actually a better shooter now that I do go to the range with my AR-10 because I practice so often in the backyard range.

The good thing about air guns is that you can be serious, hunting, target shooting etc, but they are inexpensive to run and can bring out the kid in us that is ever present lol as you demonstrated perfectly Eric ! atb phil.

An interesting fact- Lewis and Clark had a Girandoni air rifle that fired 30 shots on a single charge and they demonstrated it to Indian tribes to impress them. It was actually a very important part of their expedition.

Those crosman pellets are actually webley accupells and are very accurate. If you want them to be even better you should first sort them and remove any with damaged skirts and then wash them using soapy water and a sieve. Once dry lubricate them using pellet lube, you should then notice a lot of consistency.

There's a lot of negative comments about your Trump patch. They seem to forget that if Trump's opponent had won their 2nd amendment right wouldn't let them pick up a rock and throw it much less own a firearm. Her Australian-type gun control goal would mean confiscation. Ask an Australian how that worked out for them.

Your going to get a lot of people say why not by a .22 rim-fire and there great, rim fire bullets can be a bit unreliable but overall easy and cheap, but for using around your backyard can be loud and dangerous, big plus for a pcp is its quiet and very very accurate, obviously can be just as dangerous as any fire arm but for taking out pest around a farm, backyard, this rifle is perfect for taking out squirrels, rabbits ground squirrels, still only downside to pcp rifles is how do you fill it,with this been a regulated rifle it should be very hand pump friendly as you don`t have to fill to max every time as many other pcp rifles need,so a scuba/carbon tanks make your life easier but then you need to fill these tanks, not a big cost to do this but finding a dive shop or paintball shop that is close to where you live is needed,ATM pcp compressors are very expensive over $1000.

you can expect with a ballistic coefficient on the low end to be .016 but could be .020 but we would have to chrony it a 25 yards, so on the low end here is the results 25 yards 667 fps at 14.7 ft/lbs 50 yards 549 fps at 9.5 ft/lbs 75 yards 451 fps at 6.4 ft/lbs 100 yards 371 fps at 4.3 ft/lbs you should try the the 30 grain h and n pile driver, it has a loopy trajectory from being slower but its a very efficient boat tail pellet, in some air rifles as high as .037 or more ballistic coefficient, so double of this pellet the crosman 14.3, the high ballistic coefficient would mean velocity and energy conservation, and a hard hit at longer ranges given you have a good mill dot scope with plenty click range, also no limits FX adjustable mounts for crazy tests for long range, them mount rings can take any low velocity air rifle and turn it into a long range shooter, years ago i would shim my scope but today no need to shim with adjustable elevation rings, for crazy shots the H&N Baracuda .22 Cal, 21.14 Grains, Round Nose will do it since it has about the second best ballistic coefficient that can really reach out but yet not to heavy

Thanks for the review, Eric! I was about to drop the hammer on a Gamo Urban 22, when I saw glimpses of the Umarex Gauntlet from coverage of Shot Show. My first, and for now, only air rifle is an Umarex Octane break barrel. I have been very impressed with it so far. I placed my order a couple of weeks ago so I could be one of the first to receive a Gauntlet. Projected date of availability is May 19. So, until then, I surf the internet regularly, hoping to find more reviews of it. Thanks for the shot in the arm! I can't wait for the chance to see for myself just how good the Gauntlet really is.
P.S. I didn't go through all the comments, but I'm wondering if I'm the only one more concerned with the air rifle you reviewed than the hat you wore?

Please re-visit 8x56R cast bullet testing! I'm gonna bug you until you finally do. I've had great results with the Lee 205gr and a nice thick powder coat. The .329 mold is undersized and you'll be lucky to find one of those rifles that slugs any less than .330". I polished my Lee .329 sizer to .332 and have also sized down the Lee .338 cast bullet and have had some luck. It's no surprise that you didn't have any luck when you tried it, Lee really should have made that mold more like .331" or at least .330".

if you really want to get into accuracy potential you need better pellets. those Benjamins are ok for plinking but for target I use RWS
in Canada, the reason I decided to buy a .22 airgun is because of the relatively low bullet weight, allows me to shoot up into trees for birds. with a .22lr shooting into a tree without knowing a mile past your backstop isn't possible.

I think you guys would be surprised by the amount of liberals watching these videos (like myself) who aren't bothered by Eric's hat (or political stance) at all. He's a great guy who provides great educational content and leaves it at that.
Imagine he wore a hat that said "I support gay rights" or something similarly "controversial" instead. Would a lot of you conservatives freak out and throw a fit? Probably not, because we're all really here to see the guns Eric shoots and to hear him talk about it.
That being said, I'd like to see less emphasis on airgun reviews.

None of them could get one from the manufacturer. Three of them actually badmouthed the gun and tried to sell me something else. If the only people who can get this gun are the You Tube hawkers who sell you on something you can't actually get.....WHAT GOOD IS IT!!!!

It's slated to be available in august. Calm down. Eric is playing with a prototype model they sent him to overview, it's not for sale to the general public yet.

Don't know where you got your info...don't really care! Total BS! Umarex has the gun on their website, not as a pre-order but as a back-order! Can't produce enough to meet demand! Every other site I went to has it in inventory but not in stock! So if you're going to lie make it better than this one! In any case...my query still stands..."If you try to sell what can't be had, What good is it!!???"

They. Will. Be. For. Sale. In. August.
Umarex ALWAYS has coming soon products as backordered. Don't believe me? Go ask the lads at AirgunDepot, or Pyramyd Air, or Umarex itself. My information comes from emailing Airgun Depot, who talked to Umarex, and were very helpful and polite.
Go ask one of the places I told you, they will help you, also, take your meds.

My Gauntlet safety can't be engaged after the gun is cocked but it could be engaged only when the gun is uncocked
Do you have any suggestion ?

This is one of the most promising air guns coming out this year. I hope it exceeds expectations. If not 300 is not a whole lot to loose.

Love the HAT... How do you fill your air cylinders. You periodically do an air gun review. They are getting more popular in urban environments. Would like to do a couple air guns myself but the ones with the recharge capabilities seem they would be a pain in the butt and hard on the shoulders to keep pumping up manually. I am think of just staying with a spring or gas piston type. Electric 4500 max psi air pump costs are out of sight. Carbon Fiber storage Cylinders are only good for 15 yrs. and are super expensive also. Taking them somewhere to get them filled is another pain also.Whats your views.
Thanks keep up the good vids. Edw.L.

Dude beeman kodiaks 21 gr for a .22. They are all around the best. And they have copper plated. And take that sucker out to 100 yds. I can do pretty well with my hatsan 150 torpedo.

I really enjoyed this video. I've been looking for a fairly inexpensive good airgun. ....this may be the one. There are way too many squirrels in my yard.

Lucky you! I got very few of them. I have to build me a feeder to bring them in, they are very delicious .

Big fan of your videos, Eric, Chad an everyone that works on the channel. Could you consider placing a large sheet of paper behind small targets like these so we can see the shots when they are not on target? That would be especially helpful for your air rifle videos. Thank you!

Enjoyed your video, Eric! Especially cleaning out the "army men", Ha! I still have this gun on my wish list; just not ready for the extra expense of the tanks, pumps, compressor's, etc..
