Richard found peace in his lovely wife Joyce Lapinsky and he was never embarrassed to admit that. Here is their love story and the last message he wrote for her before he died th-cam.com/video/9J5-PCfu58U/w-d-xo.htmlsi=xQphvHgFL1LY2hoK
This may sound horrid to a lay person but as a hospice nurse Parkinson’s is a terrible lingering death! I’m glad his sweet & funny heart stopped before he suffered for yrs & yrs!
I always liked Richard. I was very happy to see him on Curb Your Enthusiasm. He did a great job and made me laugh many times. Back in the 80's my mom had a crush on him. Richard had really great hair back then. Such a funny guy. RIP Richard.
That's beautiful. I've realized that many people had a crush on him. His co-star Cheryl Hines has also confessed to having a huge crush on him. He was indeed a great man
Of course I've seen him on Curb Your Enthusiasm but my memories that I enjoyed were when he was on the I think it was The Tonight Show I thought he was very funny
I’ve always enjoyed his comedy but seeing him on Curb was the best. It was like giving us a glimpse of himself in real life. His standup sometimes seemed like he was putting on an act with his quirky behavior to be funnier. Seeing that he was somewhat like that in real life made me appreciate his stand up even more. He really talks like that and behaves like that. He was funny all the way to the end. That’s impressive. Much respect dude!
Alot of the best moments on Curb are with Richard Lewis. My favorite is when Larry reserves the seat at the funeral and Richard Lewis is already there. And he tells Larry, "Reserved? This isn't a Knicks game." 😂😂😂😂😂
Boy this was insanely touching and brought me to tears. I became a fan the second he walked onscreen during the first season of Curb. I need to travel back in time and enjoy his previous projects/ specials
The way I look at it, he got to do what he wanted (and made a very good living doing so) and lived to a good age. And he didn't have to suffer years of Parkinsons or any other debilitating illness. Most of us will never be so lucky.
Rest in peace Is Richard. You left your mark in the comedy world. You've done it all, so now it's your time to just relax And be at peace. You and larry david were hilarious. You both played off each other like you probably have done all your lives. Genius❤
I always loved his humor. I started watching him when I was a teenager ( I’m in my sixties) I’m sorry for his family and for Larry David. Rest in Peace. Amen.
I saw Richard at the Improv on Melrose back in the summer of 1981. Just by coincidence, I met him 5 days later at a party in Studio City. He couldn't have been more approachable and was certainly appreciative when I told him how terrifically funny I though the was. At that time he wasn't widely known and was so dedicated to his craft that he would sometimes do his standup at a nearby park just to work a crowd and get that much more experience doing his act. Within a year I saw him on the new Letterman Late Night show on NBC. It was one of those rare moments where you get to meet someone before they explode on the Hollywood scene. R.I.P. Richard.
Bless him. He was openly discussing the past, but tacitly addressing the future. He was a wonderful man, and brilliant on Curb Your Enthusiasm. He is unforgettable. R.I.P., Richard.
Comedy never dies Brilliance of laughter A smile or two Medicine for the soul For me and you Insightful at times Tears and a head shake Right on for that punchline Make no mistake Hard work and time A stand-up merry-go-round Bright lights and hecklers From clubs from town-to-town His talent well-defined Comedy never dies He was one of the great ones Brilliance applies
My dad has Parkinsons and is only 3 years younger than Richard. Really is putting his mortality in perspective and what limited time I have left with him.
'but today he made me sob. And for that ill never forgive him' 😭😭 larry loved him so much. Hope in heaven they acknowledged he created the 'blank from hell'
When I was a kid I first knew about him in robin hood men in tights. He played one of the greatest hilarious villains prince john along with roger reese. RIP to both of them!
He gave us so much. It was time to lay his burdens down. Another reason I’m so content to have been here on the earth to enjoy the comedy and warmth he gave us.
Much luv from Bucharest Richard❤. I fondly think and remember you Prince John in tights. Hope to meet you and Lar' someday in the ether hangin' out on a cloud watchin' some Seinfeld. With Mrs. and Mr. Costanza too. Jerry' folks, Uncle Leo...(me and uncle leo are both born on the same day)
Richard Lewis was not only one of the funniest men alive he had the best hair when he was young man that put my long hair to shame. He had the best head of hair ever and it looked good on him! He'll be missed!
Curb Your Enthusiam really spoiled us well. Years of Classic Comedy to appreciate from some of the Greatest Comedians and Writers to ever do Comedy. Richard was Amazing, and we get to enjoy his memory. I was 12yrs old when I 1st saw him as King John in Robin Hood: Men in Tights. I've been laughing ever since. Bless his Soul. The Comedy Club in Heaven so many of the Best Comedians up there😢💗
He was such a great human being and one of the best comedians of all time. Rewatching his show Anything but Love with Jamie Lee Curtis. So funny great actor too.
Knowing how debilitating Parkinsons can leave you in the end, Richard Lewis dodged a bullet but he was unfortunate to get hit several other bullets along the way. I haven't seen much of his work but what I have seen, has been some of funniest stuff I ever did see. RIP Lewis😢
When he couldn't bring himself to lend Larry his putter after Larry agreed to donate his kidney is as funny an idea anyone has ever come up with. I will laugh about that scene till my dying day.
Norm, Louis, Gilbert, nd now Richard -- the world is definitely lessened by their absence; grateful for their unique talents and dedication to making a troubled world look at itself and laugh.
Alot of my favorite moments on Curb are interactions between Larry and Richard. When Larry reserves the seat at the Funkhauser funeral and Richard beats him to seat, pisses off Larry and tells him "Reserved? This isnt a fucking Knicks game." 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 Rest in Peace Richard Lewis. Richard once said, "I'm looking for a woman who will love me for the man l might have been." Funny, touching, your humor really moved us, Richard. Farewell.
I always loved Richard Lewis, I saw him at Elaine's in New York City back in the 90's and he was hysterical. He kept his written jokes on paper bags - so funny, I will miss him as one of the bright lights of comedy. He used to arrive at his venues in a white emergency vehicle with big red crosses on the doors.. Love you Richard - hope you are laughing with all your buddies that went ahead of you.
RIP BROTHER, MAY THE LORD OUR GOD YESHUA HA'MASHIACH FORGIVE YOUR SINS AND TAKE YOU HOME SO YOU CAN DO YOUR STAND UP FOR OUR KING OF KINGS IN HEAVEN...
Rest in Peace! I loved him, thought he was the best comic ever! My dad had Parkinson's, diagnosed after a spinal fusion way back in the 60's....Wherever you are, keep them laughing....

I am heartbroken. I watched his career since he began and I adored him. Love and light to his wife.
What a wonderful person and talented comedian. The world will miss him! He was beyond talented. RIP
I never saw his stand up, only know him from Curb. Fantastic character and such great chemistry with Larry. A life well lived.
Richard was a hugely underrated comic
This precious man. I'm so sad to lose him. May he Rest In Peace. Much love to his family and friends. ❤
He will be missed. He and Larry’s chemistry was priceless
Alot of the best moments on Curb are with Richard Lewis. My favorite is when Larry reserves the seat at the funeral and Richard Lewis is already there. And he tells Larry, "Reserved? This isn't a Knicks game." 😂😂😂😂😂
The chemistry was natural because the two were friends since age 12
Boy this was insanely touching and brought me to tears. I became a fan the second he walked onscreen during the first season of Curb. I need to travel back in time and enjoy his previous projects/ specials

He actually did battle illness for many years, but true enough. I agree.
