    I used to spear panfish as a kid.....One fo th thing I did to entice fish into the spear was to thread a smaller twister tail on one of the tines.....then fish will swim right up to your spear to check it out....

      Interesting! If I did that people would probably tell me it's illegal lol

      @@Wisconsin_Fisherman I look looked over the regulations last night before I suggested it to you.....I am from Minnesota, and besides having a better football team than us, your rules on life are a lot less constraining. I might just have to consider moving.

      You betcha I like to explain that right in the intro it’s a better practice then hook and line actually.

    awesome i want to try this...curious how long of a spear did you use? i heard longer is easier - allows you to shoot them from farther away. I wonder if slipping into the water quietly would be better to not scare them

    • @Wisconsin_Fisherman
      @Wisconsin_Fisherman  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would definitely get about a 7 foot spear

      @@Wisconsin_Fisherman thanks. I am in Austin, TX, and it seems in Texas one can spear "non-game" fish - which include bluegill. So...I am looking into it.

    How do you find out witch lakes allow it? I see the counties, but without physically going to the lake, i have no clue (im in Marinette)

    • @Wisconsin_Fisherman

      Any lake in the county that allows it

    I spear a lot in norther Wisconsin. Just hit them in the head and the filets are fine. Also a quick death for the fish.

    Just a recommendation for your GoPro you should get snorkel goggles with a GoPro mount on it I have one and it works wonders that way you could have your hands free from carrying a GoPro.

    • @Wisconsin_Fisherman
      @Wisconsin_Fisherman  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I thought about that but all the reviews say the camera would be out of the water. I’m working on the steady ness and aiming of the camera it is an arms length closes as well if I hold it

    Looks like a lot of fun! Only downside I can see is that you wouldn't be able to put in an all-day session since you're mostly killing the fish as you catch them, so you wouldn't want to wait too long before getting them cleaned. Man, that's making me hungry for some crappie! Grew up in northern Wis, but now only get back once or twice a year to fish. :)

    • @Wisconsin_Fisherman
      @Wisconsin_Fisherman  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It is really fun. Yes each fish you harvest dies. sometimes bringing ice helps the fish last longer in the summer time.

    watching your spearfishing videos gave me the bug. i haven't been out spearfishing in a couple years.... so i justified buying a new wetsuit, 7' spear, dive belt, diver stringer, mask and boots. no excuses now

    That was a pretty cool video!! I’ve never seen any body ever go out a spear blue gills or crappies before let alone even no that you could even do that!! But definitely very cool and a way to not harm the ones you don’t want to flie up and to do a selective harvest I guess you could call it!!

      @Wisconsin_Fisherman  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is if you think about it! There’s a lot of gills in this lake

    Lol tell those rules to the "carp boats" that shoot everything including bass and northern. You can't confuse a bass or northern for a carp.
    On another note im getting more jealous of your boat. Love the open concept of the 185 tiller models
