Thanks to following your excellent instruction throughout your videos I have seen my game improve by an average 6 strokes this year. I appreciate your explanations of the club forces and directions of either end along with your points on the downswing and shoulders in this video. Not using my upper back and shoulders enough is a common fault in my swing, and it’s my signal that I’m using my arms too much. To remedy that it helps me to focus on aiming my lead shoulder to the ball on the backswing and then aiming my trail shoulder to the ball on the downswing. When I get it right my shoulders tend to stay on plane better. My arms become more passive and follow my shoulders, and my weight shift improves as well. Again, thanks to your instruction I became aware of things like this and it has helped set me in the right direction for things to work on in my golf swing.

I think you nailed it with the concept of moving the lower body first before bringing the club down. For me this is important because it helps me keep a better tempo & not rush the downswing because I'm too eager to hit the ball.

Great video. Completely agree with focusing on activating the lower body during the transition to encourage shallowing the club naturally. What also helped me, was understanding how the takeaway affected the momentum of the club in the down swing. An overly inside take away encourages the club to loop into a steep, over the top path during the down swing because of its momentum. Having the take away on plane or slightly outside can help prevent this effect.

Another great explanation Jon, you are the best instructor on TH-cam, can you do another video on staying down through the shot, and coming out of it.

I went down to 5hcp. On my quest to further improve and shallow better i got a lot of heel strikes / shanks / weak fades

Man people really overcomplicate things. Look at the section of the ball you need to hit in order to hit a draw/fade, then hit it and figure out proper club face control after that
