    I used to own this game and I honestly couldn't get past the third level. Seeing it cracked apart with frame-precision is very satisfying to see.

      Starfish (Reversible Gear) was ultra obnoxious for being an early stage.

      Considering it appears to have so many levels from the first 2, I don't think it's that underrated.

      @@hypercubemaster2729 That's a fair point. It's just that whenever people talk about the franchise, I hardly hear anyone mention this one.

    Having only played SMB2 really, it’s so surreal to see monkey ball games I flat out never played or even heard of. I can’t imagine how hard it must of been to tas a game that, by the title, I can only assume requires touch controls. Also I dunno if I’m crazy, but I SWEAR I saw stages more then once. Not blaming you here, more so the game because the stage pattern was different, but I swear there are stages that are carbon copies and it’s just incredibly weird

  • @Elwood7X
    @Elwood7X 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Seeing as how so many stages in this game are flat out ported from Super Monkey Ball 1 & 2, I wonder how many ported stages use the same speedrun strategies in both this game and the originals.

    • @goddesscarrie767
      @goddesscarrie767 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      a lot of them are radically different to even the TASes of SMB1&2. TnR has incredibly bouncy physics, even more so than normal, so you can do even crazier stuff. 17:09 is a good example of this. Compare that to a run of the SMB1 TASbot of the same level. This one beats it quicker, flashier, and overall just so much cooler.

  • @JoSephGD

    this game's difficulty curve is weird, like why is an early advanced level in the final world? and a beginner level in the world before?

    I never noticed this before, but there are more old stages in this game than I remember. Sometimes they even re-use the same layout twice it seems.
    Also why are some of the easiest levels from the first 2 games placed in the last worlds of this game. Did they think they were that hard???

      Hey, I liked this game! It wasn't great by Monkey Ball standards because of hardware limitations, but I still had fun with it.

    • @deletedaccount3187
      @deletedaccount3187 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@tornadotoss honestly I think people hate it because really only the stages and bananas are 3D rendered and not the characters. But in my opinion, the 2D characters look nice. They could also hate it because the DS only had a D-pad. But it's actually easier for me with a D-pad. There is no announcer. But the voice acting kind of sounded loud to me, so I don't see why people hate it. Also, it could be the artwork of this game that people find not so good. But personally, the artwork for other Monkey Ball games are creepy to me. And the artwork on this one is cute. I loved this game when I was younger, and still do

    • @ProfessorHeavy1
      @ProfessorHeavy1 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@deletedaccount3187 Honestly, the only thing I'd have to say about this is that it's one of the more weaker ones *in the series,* but not bad at all. The visuals are pretty nice, I like the background and the textures are easy on the eyes. Not to mention that the music is quite decent and original, so much so that it was rearranged in the Wii game. The D-pad control scheme was finnicky for me at times, especially on the more complicated stages, and the camera angle can be a bit too much at times. The recycling of stages is another thing that bothered me, but it's not a major thing at all, considering that there are so many stages that it's difficult not to redo some.
      It accomplishes its goal as a DS game, that's really all there is to it.

    • @WECKmaster329
      @WECKmaster329 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ProfessorHeavy1 there is a reason why it's called touch and roll. You get way more precision using the touchscreen to maneuver through the courses. If the D-pad was too clunky or stiff for you, there was always the option of using the touchscreen as analog control.

    • @LalitoTV
      @LalitoTV 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@WECKmaster329 at first I hated how the screen controls were set up, instead of making the perfectly rounded ball icon a stick a la Mario 64 DS, they decided to make use of the whole screen, making it harder to go from extreme to extreme ... Or perhaps not hard per se, just extremely tiring
      But as I played more... I actually started to really love the touch screen controls ('cept for what I said above)
      It is so precise and fast! more so than a stick on a regular controller, especially because those can tear down, have snapback, and drifting
      It really makes me wish for a controller manufacturer that makes a controller with a stick that works with a tiny tactile pad beneath it, and the stick is just a magnet or something,
      So like, kind of like those sticks they make for phones, the ones you need to stick on the screen, but integrated within a controller, that way, you can achieve guaranteed efficiency, no drifting, and an easily replaceable stick, since you'd only need to replace the plastic if it wears down, not the touch pad components
