Absolutely agree with you about children on farms. The important thing to remember is, to a child a farm is an adventure playground and they have no filter or risk awareness. I believe the sooner you introduce your kids to farm life and risks the better, make them aware.
Royal Queensland Show also known as Ekka to us locals is starting on August 6. We don't have tractor pulling or anything like that, but there's livestock judging, dog trials, axe man comp, animal nursery, fashion parades, rides, showbags etc. It hasn't been on since 2019 because of the pandemic so it should be awesome!

I can remember my dad saying about a bloke that rent's one of the farm cottages complaining about the noise of the tractors! Why don't they bugger off back to the town! This was on one of the farms that only had tractors when there was a job to do! 6000 pigeons is a fantastic haul and a fortune in cartridges! Really sorry to hear about the child and totally agree the law should be changed.
My small Yorkie is always in the cab with me, so I know where she is, at all times. Even if I just jump put for a few seconds, and the dog jumps out, I would rather put her back 100 times back with me, than loose her. She is with me all the time on the farm. Another great video, thanks.
So sorry to hear about the terrible accident. I used to have a child seat in my ford 7610 about 30 yrs ago, and had a serious bollocking from HSE, and raised exact same issue as you. My Angharad was about 2 yrs old, but i was given 24 hrs to get the seat out, or be prossecuted. My condolences to the family, cant imagine their grief
Hello everyone on the farm ,when ever i see a dog in a cab i start to feel sick ,when I worked as a fitter I pulled into a farm yard ,tractor pulled up door opened ,one collie jumped out ,the next missed the top step and put its leg through the middle step ,will never forget the sound of that poor dog ,because it was a working dog it sadly had to be put to sleep ,
I completely agree olly I've got a 4 year old daughter and I have in the cab with a seat belt far safer than her outside because you can't always guarantee they haven't escaped out of the garden it only takes a split second and they can gone.

Aw Olly, what a great looking show. I absolutely love the noise of those tractors when pulling. It is amazing to see what can be done when a bit of hard work and brain power is out to use. No idea how they managed to source two plane engines but fair play to all involved.
I went to Great Eccleston tractor pulling quite a few years ago. As you say, the noise is amazing! Night time pulling is amazing to see! Sad news about the child being killed. I’ve been out spreading lime on barley stubble today. So feeling 90%. Silly season is here!

Great video again Olly. I use to watch tractor pulling on Eurosport in the 90s. I can remember one tractor called " Desperate Dan " and one called "Red Alert"
It's was packed out Sunday at show. Saw you too but didn't bother you.😂 Also ppl need to realise how much crop/food 6000 pigeons will eat in a day, filling their crops few times a day. Its good for you as you'll get more yield and in long run good for consumers as larger yields, more food produced will bring the price down as not in short supply like at the moment with the war and grain shortages.
I have been a tractor fan as long as I can remember.I used to ride in the cab of local farmer well before I was 13 and sit on the tool box never was felt I was in danger.I was 16 when I drove my first tractor and it helped me to learn to drive a car..It’s sad a fatal has accident to such a young child and feel sorry for his family..
Yes they are safer in a tractor cab but teles don't have room inside the tiny cab for anything apart from the driver and are inherently blind to see out of of the cab at best of times

As far as I've read. the 13 rule only applies if they're the one operating it, in terms of being a passenger they can ride as long as they're above 4 foot 5 or with a booster seat if less than that
So I looked up what 6000 less pigeons would mean to you, they eat a average of 35g a day which equals 210kg a day of your crop 😬 I think I'd be taking another bunch off too.
I love a good tractor pull and such a shame the one in my village (cumbria power weekend) has been stopped due to lack of people willing to help set up but was a brilliant weekend with most of them pluss a few different pullers as well as a truck show with a few stalls i need to get to this one in the next few years

I've been covering the wheat, and earlier, the OSR, of late and the pigeon will be back just as strong after drilling. It's a never ending ongoing job.

Poor child, thoughts with the family..... 6000 pigeons, each can eat twice its own body weight in a day, that's potentially 1000 tonnes lost in a year ( I know that's not all grain, but how much of it is, and how much grain is not produced because of the damage to developing plants!) Why do people moan ? If the don't like the country matters don't live in the country , when I was on the farm , they built a number of large houses behind the farm . The Residence then tried to get a petition up complaining about the smell and noise coming from the farm 🤷♀️ until one of the locals that was asked to sign a petition ask them the question , what was their first ? It never got any further . I heard about the accident , so sad and as you said that when that law was out we used to travel about standing on the link arms or drawbar or sat on the mudguard , there's now passenger seats and seat belts . Condolences to the poor family , its truly heart breaking .
