I'm loving your EDC, its given me lots of ideas what to put in my purse. I use Buffs and they are brilliant (I have Alopecia Univarlis so no hair) and they stay on the head like glue - no blowing off in high winds or the like. I must research to see what candy I can get in tins over here in the UK. Oh one thing, remember never to wear your building pass outside in the street, as some unscruplous people take photos of them, make copies and then can get into the place unchallenged.
One little tip i got from somewhere else (sorry if you read this couldn't remember) was to keep my car keys on a small Karabiner clip so i can un-clip them from my main key bunch so i don't have the weight hanging on my ignition barrel.
I got it at Danier, but looking at their website I see they don't have it anymore. Roots has a similar one. It's a bit pricier but they usually use better quality leather too. Thanks for watching!
Yeah, we had two shootings recently (google Scarborough shooting and Eaton Centre Shooting) that rattled the public. The Colorado shooting was not in Canada, but it still felt like it was too close to home. Actually, one of the Colorado shooting victims stepped out of the Eaton Centre minutes before that shooting.
Thank you! Most things I carry are because at one point or another I've needed them. I remember once I had a piece of meat stuck between my teeth and it was very painful. Regular thread (from my sewing kit) just wouldn't do the trick. Ever since then, I've always carried floss.
Loved this! As a fellow woman from Canada, it was great to see the stuff you carry. I recognized the windproof Dollarama lighter. Love those small OB's, I can't even imagine carrying bulky Tampax or others anymore. I chucked when I recognized the gasx right away haha, I'm getting old. So true about "purse changes often". I get so disorganized after a while from switching to the smaller purse and back. Always liked the bigger purses that fit a water bottle/movie theatre snacks.
It's useful to put the torch on your key chain on a slightly longer attachment... that way you can easily use the torch to light the key hole while you put the key in. I use a shoe string with a bowline knot in it. It's colourful so I can easily find it easily. I can't tell you how often I am glad of being able to see what I am doing.
That's a great tip! Thanks! In the case of the Streamlight Nano, it's on a clip and not on a key ring, so I can remove it very easily, use it and then put it back. However, most people carrying a torch on their keychain will probably have it on a key ring, so that is a great way of changing it.
Thanks for watching and commenting! Some things have changed in my EDC, but my PS4 is still there. It is awesome! I took it off my keychain because the keys were scratching it. I need to make a little leather pouch for it!
You have a lot more stuff than I do. One thing I do carry is an Altoids tin first aid kit with meds and includes ultra handy Leatherman Micra manicure kit type tool.
Wow....I'd call that one "The Mugger Special". There's a little something in there for everybody..lol. All jokes aside, it was nice to see what the ladies carry for a change. You are very well prepared. Great job on the video Christine !
I loved the contents of your purse EDC. I will be using these items in my purse Plus snacks everything is perfect I also carry toilet seat cover in a prescription pill bottle. it is a lot easier to pull out than from the bottom of a tin.
Thanks for the video. If your starter/ignition goes out on your vehicle you might consider lightening your key chain. I toasted one because of a heavy key chain.
Not to knock your purse, but you could get something more ergonomic that will still allow you the same volume, with less pain. With the rise of so many new tactical slings I think it's worth looking into.
Update. I carry Leatherman ps4 now instead of Micro. Smaller, like it a lot. You may find a leather change purse handy for keeping small items together.
I'm impressed and fascinated by your pragmatic and rational EDC purse. Many females fill up their handbags with unnecessary items but your thoughtful contents I cannot fault. I'm sending the link to this video to my sister and female friends. They can learn a lot from you.
Actually, I try to change it all the time. I always carry my purse on my right side, but sometimes I wear it cross body so the weight is on my left shoulder, and sometimes I shorten the strap and wear it on my right shoulder.
Thanks for watching and for the comment! After years of trying to go smaller with my purse, I'm starting to think that bigger is better. You don't have to fill it up, but when you need to add something (like a water bottle or movie theatre snacks) there is still plenty of room in it. I'm looking for that ideal sized purse/bag to replace what I have now.
I think you're totally right! A different shape would probably help me a lot. My only problem is that this is the purse that I take to the office, and it's kind of too dressed down already as it is. Someone needs to take these factors into consideration when designing purses. The same thing happens with ladies shoes. It's sooooo hard to get a pair of sensible, comfortable shoes that still look nice. That's why I hate buying shoes or purses! Thanks for watching and commenting!
@CampSmarts ha! i did the same! well, with my backpack (being a guy means, y'know, backpack instead of purse), especially since my work commute was, at the time, around 5-6 hours per day on the bus/train. i ended up with a lot of reactions like i'm sure you get with your purse about how heavy it is. then the same people always look at me *first* when they need something. :-D
Yea, Canada is different definitely. Which is odd because I'd think Canada would be much more open about guns considering their vast rural geometry and generally friendly citizen body. I know you can purchase pistols and rifles but I'm not sure about carrying them.
Nice set up! Keep the snood! I always advocate people carry at the very least a bandana or hankerchief. Ever in a fire or disaster with smoke or dust and debris it will save your respiratory system from major health problems down the line. More people die in and after those situations from inhilation of smoke than from anything else. I feel a bit better about the weight of my EDC system now! lol! All the best!
@DisillusionedAcronym Thank you! That's true. Whenever I need something that I don't have on me but could have had, I try to make a mental note of getting it and placing it in my purse. Sometimes it's not even something I have needed for myself but perhaps for a friend or colleague.
Really like this. Thanks for sharing. Most edc are too rugged for a woman like big knives and guns (which I can't have unless I'm a law enforcer). And ur vid had given me some ideas to improve my edc. I'd like to ask on woman's safety. What do u have to protect urself?
Thank you! I've grown a little obsessed with tins, especially altoids. I actually ordered some altoids smalls from ebay because they don't sell them in Canada. I'm sure you can find something equivalent in the UK. I recently found some in Stratford (Ontario) called "Shakespeare mints". LOL! You might be able to find things like that in souvenir stores. I never wear my work ID at all. Security already knows me so I rarely have to show it :)
I know exactly what you mean, its very tempting to keep adding stuff just because. Thing is not to beat yourself up about it, Better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it! People laugh at me when I take my two bags to work, but im the first person they come to for a band aid, or a USB memory stick, or a pair of scissors or duct tape etc etc etc! lol! So many people forget the bandana, remember the rule of 3's? 3 minutes without oxygen and all that. All the best! MTFBWY!
I carry a purse (yay, leftover habits from university - because nothing's worse than digging into your knapsack for a bus pass or money), and mostly what lives in it is...video game system (3DS), case with the video game cartridges, a pen, dog pepper spray (yes, Canada, love you, but seriously, pepper spray not being allowed?), hand lotion, a first aid kit (btw, where in Canada can you buy actual altoids? I've looked at most grocery stores/supermarket chains, and they don't have 'em.) and a small coin purse that holds tokens. Sometimes I have hand sanitizer and my headphones in there (but the earpieces like to come off and I get so annoyed at 'em). My keys are on a separate lanyard with the same nanolight and a swiss army sd classic. (Scissors, nail file + flat head screwdriver, and a couple of other things). My wallet/card wallet lives in my pocket as well. This may change as most office casual clothing for women doesn't have pockets!
I use a Travelon anti-theft cross body bag, look into them, many security features. My torch is an O-Light 600 lumens w/strobe. My keys are on a ring with a metal slide attachment that l clip to my bag on the outside. My phone is in a secure pocket alongside the torch, l have the most important items out for easy access.
Good point, Paul! I had taken it out of my purse but I think I'll put it back or at least a bandana. Haha! Everytime I see others' EDC videos I feel like Crocodile Dundee: "That's not an EDC! This is an EDC!" lol! I know that bigger doesn't mean better so I'll need to streamline things a bit. I need to be as ruthless with my EDC as I am being with my backpack for trips.
I'll have to check into all the licences and laws related to these things. From what I understand, our laws in Canada, in what relates to weapons, are much stricter than yours in the US.
Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it! As for safety and what I have, hopefully just some common sense, lol! Living in Canada means that you're not allowed to carry guns and knives have some restrictions. It is pretty safe though, and I've never felt the need to have anything to protect myself. I try to avoid potentially dangerous areas and situations and hopefully am successful at that.
Thanks, David! I'll be honest and say that I haven't given much thought to items to carry for personal protection. I'm not sure what is legal and what isn't. I try to avoid potentially dangerous situations and locations and that's about it. Do you have any suggestions? As for the the comment before yours... deleted! :-) There will always be people who overstep their boundaries and others that help out! Thanks for the support!
Actually I find most women do! What differs from woman to woman is what they like to be prepared for and what their priorities are. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment!
for a toilet seat cover, I just use the supplied toilet paper, one 3 square each at front back & each side and then 2 square strip on the corners. Why pay?
At least in my country most public bathrooms don't have toilet paper... I have to carry toilet paper or napkings with me. But if I ever need the bathroom for an emergency #2, a toilet seat cover would be nice 😂
Hi! I'm glad you liked the video. I'm not sure where I got that specific Altoids tin but I have seen them in various places. Some Shoppers carry it but you'll probably find a bigger variety at a magazine store. I've even seen them at my local bulk food store. I also got the Smalls but those I had to get on Ebay.
Good, but you need some sort of self defence (legal carry) weapon. You should check out 'Cold Steel' hairbrush. It is a hairbrush but it pulls apart to reveal a hard plastic dagger. Be safe on the streets.
@cyclist01222 Thanks, Paul! (blush!) That's such a compliment! I love organization and am always striving to be more organized! That's probably why I keep changing things around me!
Thanks Ken! Altoids have become an obsession for me and, I must confess, I don't even really care for the mints. I'll eat them, because I don't like to be wasteful, but if it weren't for the tin I would certainly be buying something else. Check out all the different things you can make with Altoids tins, and you might find that you need all the tins you can get ;-) I've posted some of the ideas I've found on my Facebook page. You should check it out. I think I posted something last month.
Hey CampSmarts, I didn't read all your comments, but have you given any thought to making some kind of personal protection a part of your EDC considering the commentator before mine? Good vid, need to show it to my wife.
It's Marcelle. It was from a free sample that they were giving away several years back. I love tins so I end up keeping all of them and trying to reuse them.
Yup, you're using common sense! Avoid bad situations and try to minimize the consequences if something were to happen. I'm quite lucky in that purse snatching is not common here in Toronto. Thanks for sharing!
We have similar regulation probably becos it's influenced by British common law. One thing that bugs me with carrying everything in ur purse/handbag is the case of snatch thieves. Here in my country it becomes common to hear ladies become victims. So I put my important stuff eg: id card, driving license, etc in book cardholder in my front pocket and clip my car n house keys the side of my jeans belt loop. I'd rather lose my the money in my bag then my life. Juz wanna share my edc systm with u.
I ruined more purses in my life carrying keys in it. Only a Guicci lining might hold up to keys, I think. Now I dangle my keys on a big pink carabiner outside of my purse, but I may need to re-think, that, too, because one of the comments below suggested that keys be kept on your person in case of a purse snatching. The other thing about keys is to be able to take the car key off seperately so that the weight doesn't ruin the starter or ignition. It can be costly to replace if it's damaged by the weight of a big keychain with all kinds of extras on it. I try to carry only what I need for the moment, so no make-up, but tissues, comb, keys, hand sanitiser and breath care products for sure.
I have my keys on a lanyard in my pocket. That said, I hate the female clothing industry for deciding that "women don't need pockets" on clothing. Seriously, every time I have to do something that requires business or formal clothing, it's like...here, you don't deserve a darn pocket. Yeah, car keys are delicate. I won't trust a giant keychain like she shows on the video not to destroy or mangle things in the process.
I haven't been able to make videos lately, but I still have intentions of getting back to the subject and doing a video on that altoids tin. It's basically a survival kit which I carry all the time especially when I'm hiking, backpacking or canoeing.
You don't strike me as the type to be totally opposed to carrying, if so, go with a mace type product. There are plenty of reviews out there to find the best product. If you decide to arm yourself consider at least a 9mm, stay away from Kel-Tec PF9, too much controversy. Check the reviews, Love it/hate it. If you want something smaller I would recommend the Beretta 32 Tomcat. I have the gun and it's got great reviews. For 9mm check out the Ruger LC9, Beretta PX4, or Sig Sauer P229.
In Canada, only those who require a gun because of their occupations and those who need one for the "protection of life" can get an authorization to carry. The latter is more complicated than it sounds. Let's just say that it's not easy to get a carrying permit.
Sounds like a sensible thing to do, but I've never carried keys in my pockets, especially when there are so many. Not too many women will. Form fitting clothing with bulges of keys in the pockets doesn't look very nice. I don't have a car, so I don't usually carry car keys. Also, I live in a condo with security, so they can always let me in as they know me.
I think you should get a new bag that is more comfortable as well as durable i would recommend a utg tactical messenger bag it runs about 30-40 dollars on amazon but it is very durable and capable look up the review of it by chris tanner from preparedmind101
@swilliams2482 Thanks Steve! For women it's almost like a motive of pride when someone needs something and you're the one that has that one thing. Whatever it may be :)
Don´t carry your keys in your purse, much less in an outside pocket. Keep them on you, if your purse gets stolen you can still get in your car and home.
If you have a good brand guy condom or woman condom they will stay good for a year or two and cannot be in any heat like us guys some tend to keep them in their wallet or pocket which causes weakness from the heat and the oil can evaporate. Im not stating that this is true girls condom is way different from a guy so if it's a woman's it might be more fragile
Nice edc purse. Altoids tins come in very handy.
Your everyday carry works for you, and that's the whole point. I'm glad you've got a plan!
One little tip i got from somewhere else (sorry if you read this couldn't remember) was to keep my car keys on a small Karabiner clip so i can un-clip them from my main key bunch so i don't have the weight hanging on my ignition barrel.
I own some Travelon accessories but never checked out their bags. I'll look in to them. Thanks for watching and for the tips.
I got it at Danier, but looking at their website I see they don't have it anymore. Roots has a similar one. It's a bit pricier but they usually use better quality leather too. Thanks for watching!

Your stuff is always so neat and well packaged... even when in the field. Good goin' Christine!
I really do wish i could find the bag you are using...love it

"They're actual Altoids.."
lol
Nice video! I'm also guilty of buying Altoids so I can keep the tin. I'm not sure why......how many of these tins do I need!
Nice to see a woman´s perspective on edc. I really like you version, take care!
I loved the contents of your purse EDC. I will be using these items in my purse Plus snacks everything is perfect I also carry toilet seat cover in a prescription pill bottle. it is a lot easier to pull out than from the bottom of a tin.

You're welcome! Thank you for watching! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
What’s the name of the office tool kit you have? That’s awesome!!
That's a great idea! I actually have two sets of keys now and some can be quickly removed. Thank you for the suggestion!
Actually, I try to change it all the time. I always carry my purse on my right side, but sometimes I wear it cross body so the weight is on my left shoulder, and sometimes I shorten the strap and wear it on my right shoulder.

Your so cute! Greetings from New Brunswick! Nice to see another Canadian on here!
@CampSmarts yes! there's been many a days when i've been volunteered as the pack mule because of my backpack. :-D
I'll have to check into all the licences and laws related to these things. From what I understand, our laws in Canada, in what relates to weapons, are much stricter than yours in the US.
good setup! it's always nice to be able to have and get to something you want while you're on the go. :-)

Hey. I'm from Toronto too. Where did you buy the Altoids tin?Nice vid. Keep it up.
Cool edc items! Very well prepared! :)
Hey Christine, please come back and make more videos! Warm regards. DisabledPrepper
Hi. I love your handbag
Yeah, and I can only foresee it getting even stricter due to recent events (public shootings).

Haha my sister buys those hand sanitizers from bath&body works all the time and gives them to me...they smell so good
I think in the video you said you were making a separate one for the altoids tin contents, but I can't find it? What's in it?
I haven't been able to make videos lately, but I still have intentions of getting back to the subject and doing a video on that altoids tin. It's basically a survival kit which I carry all the time especially when I'm hiking, backpacking or canoeing.
@DisillusionedAcronym Lol! Or they look at you when they need to carry something but it doesn't fit in their purse of backpack!
wow you make me want to upload my own EDC ^-^
From the maritimes ?
Thank you :)
That make up tin is a great idea. More room.
Sounds like a sensible thing to do, but I've never carried keys in my pockets, especially when there are so many. Not too many women will. Form fitting clothing with bulges of keys in the pockets doesn't look very nice. I don't have a car, so I don't usually carry car keys. Also, I live in a condo with security, so they can always let me in as they know me.
wow that is a lot of stuff!!
It's all good! Perfectly understood! :-)
I think you should get a new bag that is more comfortable as well as durable i would recommend a utg tactical messenger bag it runs about 30-40 dollars on amazon but it is very durable and capable look up the review of it by chris tanner from preparedmind101
That's huge!
Oops, torch is flash light.
a little of everything.you would have done well on the ''lets make a deal show'',lol...good job.
@sousaville Thanks, Ed!
Nope! Toronto! :-)
try carrying a nice knife, maybe a al mar or swiss army. you'll be surprised how much u use it.
I always have a swiss army knife, and a flashlight in my pockets.
The next time my mum says u can find it in my bag .. I'm gonna be like fuckoff.. U can go in there
How dose living Canada effect you from not carrying a gun or big knife(Bowe knife)
The next vid is about how to survive in Beverly Hills with only 2 credit cards. Just insane! :)
👍
alright thats front pocket carry, whats next?
How ironic !!! You carry a condom for a man the says "yes" !. I carry a Maxipad in my EDC that says "no". LOL!! Great reviews really liked your vids!
Nope! No gun! I live in Canada :-)
If you have a good brand guy condom or woman condom they will stay good for a year or two and cannot be in any heat like us guys some tend to keep them in their wallet or pocket which causes weakness from the heat and the oil can evaporate. Im not stating that this is true girls condom is way different from a guy so if it's a woman's it might be more fragile
alot of stuffs but well organized! I hardly seen woman edc on youtube! (I'm a guy)
i always wanted to look into the bag of a woman
And they tax the hell out of you to own one!
You could just kill with the weight of that keychain.....or scare the crap out of someone
Horrible edc, you should only keep what you use every day
For example, I only keep my phone, wallet, keys and AirPods in my edc
you can show us the devil dogs and twinkies,we won't laugh,lol.....
lol
You're a sick troll.
So...why the condom......is that just in case ....?
