Great video, but speaking of “EDC” I only recently heard the term EDC about 5 or so years ago. But in reality I have been EDCing for over 45 years! Had no idea I was an 'EDC' person all my adult life until I found these kinds of channels six months ago. Leatherman/Leatherman Wave, Mag-Lite 3AAA 5" mini, SKA, pen & Sharpie, Victorinox pocket watch on chain, etc... Glad to have found this community!
I enjoy seeing your videos that step out of the box. EDC doesn't have to be variations the same 5-8 items every time. I would get bored with that too! Your truck video was fun to see a different take on the overall theme. I fully support more videos that think outside the narrow EDC box! Also, looking forward to seeing what you do on your 2nd channel!
I find when I spend the money on quality things that I am going to use, I have more value in the tool that I have because it starts to become sentimental to me. My leatherman has been with me through thick and thin. I love this Chanel. It has shown me so many thing that have helped me build the best edc gear that I use all the time
What about when you have all the guns you want and you are walking around the gun show when you see Keanu Reaves? The microtech he bought was calling my name.... $600 though :(
I think the major problem (I fell into this for a little while) is people buy a bunch of crap they don’t need or use. I’ve got so many little gadgets and gear bought over the years that sit in a drawer bc I simply don’t need it day to day. I also agree with you in that people jump to what they believe is the best knife or flashlight or whatever and then realize it’s not a design that works for them. Start budget, like less than 100 total for all your items, swap things out here or there and figure out what you like, then refine it with quality items
Damn man. I really really respect what you said in this video. I like your content, you keep things entertaining. I WANT you to branch out to other things, you make EDC fun and im certain you can make other hobbies entertaining. You have one life, do what you want to do, and if people truly like you, they will follow. Good for you man !
I appreciate your take on EDC. The way you discuss it made for an easy entry point for me. I encourage you to continue to pursue all of your interests and make videos and channels about those things, too. Because you are able to create excitement in others when you share your passion. Keep exploring!!
Love the videos. To the point about the box... You do you! Never give in to the people that say, “Hurry up and entertain me with only what I like!” Drop kick’em and do whatever you want. Keep up the good work.
You absolutely nailed it on your point about costly materials. I use this account purely for commenting on other videos, but I’ve been wanting to start an actual account where I upload my own content. EDC and knives are areas of interest for me. A big realization I had about EDC when first learning about it as a subject is that literally everyone alive has naturally had an EDC, going back to caveman days. Ug and Og EDC’d sticks and sharp rocks. EDC really boils down into two categories: Things that are practical, and things you enjoy having with you. Some EDC kits put more emphasis on practicality, others on personal taste. The truth is, carrying a $300 piece of EDC equipment is always going to be more a matter of personal taste than practicality. There is no one knife, pen, flashlight, wallet, key organizer, watch that has $300-worth of purely practical use. As an example of prioritizing practicality over personal taste, my favorite pen to EDC is the humble Bic Round Stic. It does just as well as, if not better than, any other pen I’ve worked with.
Make what videos you want; have your different hobbies; call this channel whatever you want. One of the many advantages of being your own boss. You do you!
Hey, I gotta say: big props on the SOUND in this video. Just rewatched one of your 2019 videos and the mic sound on this one is vastly superior: so much more depth and clarity.
Every time someone tells me to buy anything GM, I remember how I’ve paid for brakes, rotors, tires, and oil changes on my Toyotas, whereas on my Silverado, I replaced the entire rear differential, the brake lines 3 times, the transmission lines, the blower motor resister twice, and so on. All in the course of like 3 years. Most expensive piece of junk I’ve ever owned. Never again.
Started with one Leatherman that stayed in my car unused for years. Put it on my keychain and found it useful enough to get another, then another, then some lights, then I had hundreds of multitools, Swiss Army knives, lights, knives, and whatnot
I think when getting into EDC (and you eluded to this) you also need to evaluate what YOU are going to use. I don’t carry a flashlight except in my Jeep because I really don’t use one very often at all, others use one daily so it’s a great investment. I feel like a lot of people just jump right into wanting ALL the gear and they don’t really evaluate what they are actually going to use.
Bro, Don't limit your creativity because a few toxic people are outspoken about the direction they think your channel should go in. They are not the ones doing the work and staying motivated to create content for their audience. I am not alone when I say that I enjoy when you deviate and create content outside of what we are use to watching. Keep it up and I look forward to seeing what you have in store for the audience in the future.
EDC is what you carry everyday--that can be anything from tech, your truck loadout, what you carry it in, etc. You make good videos--show what you "carry everyday" and I'll keep watching.
My budget kit is some random penlight from my local sporting goods store, a broker strike automatic, leatherman rebar, and a Gerber shard to go with my keys
Couldn't agree more with your first answer. I can't deny that I love me some titanium and M390, but I have a special place in my heart for my $20 CRKT M-16. Thanks for the great content!! 👍👍👍
Taylor, don't let ANYONE tell you what you should or shouldn't do with your time. Please don't give up on the edc thing as I and others really enjoy it, but also do your own thing once in a while too. We share some of the same interests, so, maybe you can do some videos of things other than edc, too. If some people don't like it, too bad!!! Take care my friend. Jim Narze Fellow TH-camr
Long post alert, intended for people looking for a second opinion on how to build an EDC. The way I approach my EDC is something like this: 1. What do I generally need/want to carry tools for? 2. What tools excel at doing as many of these things as possible while taking up the least amount of space? 3. What am I actually paying for? So let's walk through a common scenario most EDCers will consider, which is buying a knife: 1. What do I generally need/want a knife for (my personal reasons, may be different from yours) I live in an apartment in an urban environment, but I love doing things outside such as day hikes with my dog, kayaking, soccer, etc. So let's break that down: - Everyday tasks like slicing food, opening packages, cutting loose threads off clothes, etc. - Casual outdoor use for day hikes and kayaking such as whittling or cutting cord - Sports-related usage such as cutting adhesive wraps and picking dirt out of small nooks - Emergency usage such as cutting my dog or myself free from entanglement - Self-defense - Fidgeting 2. What knife is great for all or at least most of these things? Personally I carry the Benchmade Bugout. It's stupidly lightweight and easy to carry, has an excellent decent-sized blade that can handle 99.9% of my tasks, is very durable for what it is, and is super fun to flip open and closed. And I also I think it looks very minimalist and cool. It's not the ultimate heavy-duty survival knife, nor is it my first choice for self-defense, but it covers so many bases at once in such a lightweight package. It's a great EDC option for me. 3. What am I actually paying for? Minimalist design and good functionality with a high quality blade steel. That's it. Yes the scales are plastic, but I don't need them to be anything else. What tasks could I not do before that would only be possible with the 300 dollar carbon fiber version? None. Would it be nice to have carbon fiber scales and S90V blade steel? Of course, but from a practical standpoint it doesn't really offer additional value for me. Good design, versatile functionality, and portability are king. Sometimes premium materials are a part of that package, other times it's just for show. The Bugout is a great example of that. --- Some other items I carry that follow my EDC mindset: Fisher Space Pen - Closes to small size, opens to normal size, writes upside down and in various conditions Olight S1R II - Small, clips to a bunch of stuff, lots of useful modes, powerful, easy to charge Zippo Slim Lighter - Reusable/refillable, small, fun to safely fidget with, useful for camping/outdoors (especially if you seal it). I personally don't smoke but I appreciate its other uses so I carry one. Paracord quick-release bracelet - I wove this myself using a tutorial video. It's a smaller width and comes apart with one pull, not like most ones you have to spend 5 minutes unraveling. Also much easier to put on/take off. Ridge Wallet - I went with carbon fiber for this one just because it won't dent if I drop it or sit on it weird, also very lightweight. Honestly I wish it had an ID window, I may replace it. --- Hope this was helpful to someone. Your EDC should serve you well and in as many ways as possible without being a burden to carry around. Whatever tools you decide to get, make sure you feel satisfied at the end of the day. Good luck!
I’ve been doing EDC before the term was invented. I enjoy beautiful pricy high quality items as much as the next guy, but I found that the things I actually carry Every Day are practical and economical stuff that I don’t mind using hard. Today the design of the item and its niche within my system decides whether it gets bought and carried.
A few things to always carry. Pen, knife, second knife, FLASHLIGHT, lighter gun, spare magazine. I carry a note pad and aluminum pen and use it almost as much as my flashlight. When I need a light, I dont want to have to pull out my phone and waste the battery. Always carry an independent light. Anything else I need is in my vehicle..which goes everywhere I do.
Dont know if you know this but you can use the pocket clip on your flashlight to attach it to the peak of your cap to use it as an improvised head torch. instead of sticking it in your mouth. the protrect clip obviously has to be the ''wrong way'' around.
you never know how much you need/use a flashlight until you EDC one. A must in anyone's EDC, and probably the first thing you should add to your EDC if you don't know where to start. And it doesn't have to be and expensive light plenty of budget friendly lights.
The overspending is definitely a major thing I’ve found that a steam light micro, 4 inch crescent wrench and grabber armbar slim handle 99% of any edc tasks I have if not it’s usually a short walk to my backpack or car
Good point. For a minute there it did feel like I was about to go for more expensive knives, but in the end all I got was a Boker Magnum Brachyptera to shove in my back pocket and forget, and a Civivi Praxis because from what I've seen, I figured it was the best price/value/availability combo. I literally saw a Benchmade Somethingsomething go for ~$2500 around here, so availability plays a part. And an Opinel No. 10 because it was dirt cheap and had good reviews, but that doesn't count, it's for my totally-not-paranoid bag.
Great video. I’m looking forward to seeing your content on the other channel. I do like your MOD content, coffee & whiskey content too! Keep on making them
Just block / delete / ignore the people that complain. Justifying yourself to people who don’t get it, is futile cause they won’t get it. Those that get you will appreciate it regardless of which passion(s) you choose to share. Makes no sense to waste time on those that annoy you, just get rid of them. You don’t need that energy in your life. Your love for the things you do, is validation enough. ❤️ That being said, keep up the good work. I subscribed to the other channel. I take it you won’t be changing the name of this channel after-all. But the other channel reflecting more aspects of you is probably better suited to be known as your name than this channel which is catered.
Taylor just keep doing the videos you want to do. Don’t listen to what other say about what your doing. Keep up the good work with the videos, I love them.
I agree on the flash light vs phone. last year I installed Cable TV for a year and a small flash light clipped onto my hat or held in my mouth was easier when climbing up into attics. more so because alot of attic lights don't light up the entire attic oddly when we're you step is important. and lastly they came in handy when I'd forget my head lamp or needed a guide for a wall drop. I'd stick the flash light in the wall and would search for light in the wall when dropping a line from up in the attic.
Keep doing your thing man. Someone out there is always gonna hate a decision you made, but that’s why you’re your own boss, because it’s your decision.
Tried malt vinegar with fries for the first time like 3 months ago. Not bad honestly. My fries were cold though by the time I got home because I had to walk a mile home lol. Got them from five guys which has some decent fries. Pro tip if you go in like a half hour before close you can either get a loaded bacon but for the price of a regular but cause it's gonna get tossed anyway or you'll get no bacon cause they used it all already.
I’m glad you are going to get back to camping and fishing. You have to go live your life in order to give us the quality reviews and recommendations on gear. Real world user reviews
Try using your hat to hold the light. Even more ergonomic. One of the reasons I carry a light that requires CR-123a 3v flashlights, they’re slightly beefier and hold better in your hand, burn brighter generally and hold well inside the band of your hate above your ear.
This is probably stupid, but my car is part of my “edc,” in that I use it every day! I would love to see more of your truck. I would love to see camping vids, and gear reviews of what you use. I’m excited to see you out of your box!
Haha same here I sent $4 grand in 3 months , wife wasn’t to happy but I was 😂 it gets very addicting .I said the same thing I would never buy a $400 or $500 knife And that has come and gone.

Only available on the USA amazon unfortunately. Even guys carry these clips. I recommend them.
Don't listen to anyone. I liked those videos about your truck. To hell with everyone else. I subscribed to your other channel after watching those videos. It was refreshing seeing your other interests. I also love my truck and think about modding it as much as my EDC. I love all things like you, too. Videos games, camping, etc. It's all cool to see. Especially with your production quality. It also helps that you're a fellow North Carolinian. haha
My summer edc: wallet, keys, phone, tissue in pockets. Sunscreen, water bottle, sunglasses in tie bag. Bought Goruck GR1. Now my edc includes that AND _more stuff_ which I probably don't need in an extravagantly masculine bag. _And I'm having a real good time._
I think videos about you going out and using your edc in real life situations, doing other hobbies you like would be fun to watch, forget all the haters.
Started carrying a Leatherman when I was about 7yo. 25 years later, working with a guy about my age, and a young kid, about 18 who had never seen a Leatherman. The kids said, "that's really cool. Where did you get that? “ While I was thinking about it, the other guy didn't miss a tick and says," A man does not simply get a Leatherman, he is born with it. " Made me laugh my ass off. I agree completely about the flashlight being a well used pocket tool. I got a mini Streamlight rechargeable one in the fall, knowing the Pacific Northwest (And apparently my temporary home in Virginia) are really dark in the winter and into spring. But Taylor, "Who has a shirt pocket?" Really!? I purposely buy Pocket T-Shirts so I am not pocket-less when it's too warm for Flannels. They come in handy all the time.
Hey Taylor what do you say to people when they don’t think you need to carry a pocket knife every day? I understand the concept in my mind but don’t know how to articulate it to others.
I'm from a country that does not allow me to carry knives D: that being said, due to currencies, your budget videos really helped me a whole bunch! i am slowly buying better stuff to replace what i have currently, and i have... an EDC... and a CDC(Car Daily Carry? lol i dont know what to call it) looking forward to upgrade more and more!! oh and the leatherman wave+ i own is the BEST purchase I've made thus far, costs me a months worth of dinner(yeah food is cheap as heck here!) but its worth it!!! Hoping to see more targeted budget EDC from you!!!
I've got a wide variety of EDC items I carry, but one thing seems to elude me. I know it isn't the norm, but having dumped my 'standard' wallet, there are times I need to carry business cards. Most of the CC wallets (I carry a Ridge) are simply too small for the cards to fit. I need to be able to provide clean, standard sized, professional cards to my clients and customers. I'm really looking to carry about a dozen or so cards with easy access to pass over when needed. Any suggestions?

My leatherman has been with me through thick and thin. I love this Chanel. It has shown me so many thing that have helped me build the best edc gear that I use all the time
$500 knife, at that price i'm buying a gun!!
Lol 😂 pretty much..
I felt that way for years, and bought many guns, but finally bought my first $500 knife.
@@grantgibson480 we banter
@@grantgibson480 diminishing returns. By that logic, buy a $1 knife cuz a $20 knife isn't 20 times better.
I was about to quit this video and then he said "my long term goal for a watch is an Omega speedmaster moonwatch"...... now I'm a subscriber!
EDC and camping gear would be interesting. A light day hike gear list would be pretty neat. Honestly just have fun.
Yes please!
Keep up the good work.
lol Wife didnt believe me you answered my question about "why GMC over Toyota?", great channel!!
Toyota all day bro!
Hey your truck is part of your edc love that vid. You have to have hobbies keep it up
I also thought it was a great video and I’m excited to see how you’ll branch out. Keep up the awesome work!
I agree dude. We all love gear we all love games we all love fucking guns and trucks, you’re completely right he needs to do what he loves
@@andrewalvarez7121 i absolutely agree
A bit late for commenting but i don't care
He must be pretty built if he carries a fucking truck everyday
Every time someone tells me to buy anything GM, I remember how I’ve paid for brakes, rotors, tires, and oil changes on my Toyotas, whereas on my Silverado, I replaced the entire rear differential, the brake lines 3 times, the transmission lines, the blower motor resister twice, and so on. All in the course of like 3 years. Most expensive piece of junk I’ve ever owned. Never again.
Your Tundra is a GM....
"Malt vinegar on fries? Hell Yes!" Subbed!
Taylor your real fans love you as a person - record about any hobby and we will continue to watch you, keep up the great content

Long post alert, intended for people looking for a second opinion on how to build an EDC.
The way I approach my EDC is something like this:
1. What do I generally need/want to carry tools for?
2. What tools excel at doing as many of these things as possible while taking up the least amount of space?
3. What am I actually paying for?
So let's walk through a common scenario most EDCers will consider, which is buying a knife:
1. What do I generally need/want a knife for (my personal reasons, may be different from yours)
I live in an apartment in an urban environment, but I love doing things outside such as day hikes with my dog, kayaking, soccer, etc. So let's break that down:
- Everyday tasks like slicing food, opening packages, cutting loose threads off clothes, etc.
- Casual outdoor use for day hikes and kayaking such as whittling or cutting cord
- Sports-related usage such as cutting adhesive wraps and picking dirt out of small nooks
- Emergency usage such as cutting my dog or myself free from entanglement
- Self-defense
- Fidgeting
---
Some other items I carry that follow my EDC mindset:
Fisher Space Pen - Closes to small size, opens to normal size, writes upside down and in various conditions
Olight S1R II - Small, clips to a bunch of stuff, lots of useful modes, powerful, easy to charge
Zippo Slim Lighter - Reusable/refillable, small, fun to safely fidget with, useful for camping/outdoors (especially if you seal it).
---
Hope this was helpful to someone. Your EDC should serve you well and in as many ways as possible without being a burden to carry around. Whatever tools you decide to get, make sure you feel satisfied at the end of the day. Good luck!
Youve probably seen it by now. Lol. But ridge does have the quick draw now. Perfect for IDs
Dead batteries in a dedicated flashlight can be replaced in seconds. A smartphone needs a few hours to charge. I prefer the quicker option.
The great pocket debate will continue on the podcast my friend!!! 😜 #teamslantpocket #teamballroom
14:17 same, I ride dirt bikes, mountain bikes, play hockey, I build computers and I am starting to get into the EDC community
It’s totally cool man, mix it up make it diverse. Coffee, camping, fishing, do what feels right to you.
you never know how much you need/use a flashlight until you EDC one.
You do you bro! I love all those other things too… cameras, camping, trucks, guns etc….
People hit you with the EDC version of "Stick to Sports/Shut up and Dribble". Do what you do, man!!!
Check out the Spartan blades Zelos if you haven’t already. Love that knife. Superb quality and craftsmanship.
That being said, keep up the good work.
You tell em man! I will watch any content you make and support you and your content. Keep the second channel and screw the haters!
Well it would be good for you to explore how these other activities affect your edc.
So happy to hear u say u want to venture out from just your EDC nesh. Well done we all have more than one hobby.
What do you think of a new Landrover car to keep around. Will it be easy to do maintenance on it or too expensive?
Tell me the best travel coffee maker and grinder. Not too expensive on the grinder.
Haha same here I sent $4 grand in 3 months , wife wasn’t to happy but I was 😂 it gets very addicting .I said the same thing I would never buy a $400 or $500 knife And that has come and gone.
Yeah my wife would use one of those knives on me herself to see if it was worth that much money 😂
I thought knives over $250-300 significantly drop in value quickly? My bugout cost me $150 and I don't want to spend much more than that 😅
agentmikster44 lol I’ve spend 1200$ on knives this month alone😂

I have the Civivi Banter in my pocket and I love it. Small form, sharp blade, and it feels like a quality piece.
Where can I find a spring loaded tab flipper where the flipper tab stays tucked in til you need it? I only see zero tolerance do this but not many employ this method.
New Subscriber here and new to the EDC world and just starting over because I have some kinda cheaper stuff. Really like the way you handle your channel bro! God Bless!
OMG! A dedicated Flashlight is amazing. When someone gave me a Flashlight I didn't think much of it... and now I use it several times a day! It's kinda crazy how much I use it

Would a headlight generally be more useful than a handheld flashlight 🔦? 🤔🤔
What's a good EDC Quick Disconnect Key device? I have a key for work that I would like to be able to detach quickly and is light and small, it will only hold one key
I used to have a list of edc that I would pack in various pockets. I printed it out and framed it. I love gadgets.I have a necklace that contains a knife (knifelace) which is a bit too heavy, but the same company also has a tacticlip hairclip that is has a sharpish edge and other things.
It also helps that you're a fellow North Carolinian. haha
Can someone tell me the name of all the pieces of gear on the picture of this video? Besides the banter.
Your Chanel is one of the only ones that has an emphasis on knives/gear that would actually work outside haha
What is the Best Damn 14500/AA EDC flashlight?
I think videos about you going out and using your edc in real life situations, doing other hobbies you like would be fun to watch, forget all the haters.
Yea, do what YOU wanna do. Don't let people tell you what to do... keep up the great videos!
I literally just bought a Sebenza yesterday. However, I'm going with a Celtic theme and the Irish bog oak just fit.
Started carrying a Leatherman when I was about 7yo.
25 years later, working with a guy about my age, and a young kid, about 18 who had never seen a Leatherman. The kids said, "that's really cool. Where did you get that? “
While I was thinking about it, the other guy didn't miss a tick and says," A man does not simply get a Leatherman, he is born with it. "
Made me laugh my ass off.
Good content man!
A Leatherman is like a second dick
what was the name of that bourbon you mentioned 🤔
You are literally the same as me. I love tech, edc, gaming, coffee, and cameras. If only you could do it all on your channel. I support you doing everything you want. Be like peter McKinnon and focus on one thing (edc) while mixing everything else in. He's had plenty of coffee videos and has a wallet video and all kinds of stuff. Keep up the great work I love your channel.
Thanks for the variety and perspective 🔥🔥🔥🔥👌👌👌👌
true man dont let anybody tell you to stick only in one thing. life is short explore and do what makes you happy👍🏼
Don’t listen to negative comments period. All the other stuff is a nice to watch and it’s a great switch up. A lot people can definitely get caught up and almost addicted to just one thing and it’s not good.
I EDC superglue and a heatgun instead of a flashlight, so I can glue my phone to my shirt when I'm using the flashlight and melt it off when I'm done
Taylor: "who has shirt pockets? I don't!"
Best Damn EDC logo right behind him: "dude I'm right here"
😁
I'm from a country that does not allow me to carry knives D:
that being said, due to currencies, your budget videos really helped me a whole bunch!
i am slowly buying better stuff to replace what i have currently, and i have... an EDC... and a CDC(Car Daily Carry? lol i dont know what to call it)
looking forward to upgrade more and more!!
oh and the leatherman wave+ i own is the BEST purchase I've made thus far, costs me a months worth of dinner(yeah food is cheap as heck here!) but its worth it!!!
