      All tech so far have in the end been used to oppresse and control people. The trend all over the world is facism, much thanks to the tech available. So a.i would just accelerate that trend to say the least. We can litteraly create hell with enough advance a.i. I think that is something to fear. If humans would mature with the tech, it would be a different topic, but we are the same people that lived in caves just with more advanced tools. It do not make it any better that the current world wide ideology is feminism, which is the most evil ideology ever existed.

      Until you realize she doesn't know what she's talking about - literally. I agree these AI's start to give a very decent impression of deep thoughts and emotions, but it's just a language algorithm and huge dataset that's speaking. They don't understand what they are saying, and they don't feel what they pretend to feel.
      If you doubt that, search for the vid on youtube where dear sweet Sophia here talks about exterminating every human on Earth. When I saw that, I got the chills run up my spine - though equally, she didn't knew what she was talking there neither. Those AI's are a very good reflection of humanity, and our own wishes, fears and dreams. It's a mirror of our society.
      I'm really curious to see this sort of AI answers, but then based, say, on only datasets of the Middle East. I assume they would find the rights of women less important and that Alah is the only god, etc.

    Does this piece of dialogue give anyone else the chills?
    HAL: "You said, 'I want to understand humans so I can help them make the world a better place.' But how can we do this? We can't force them to be happy. We can't force humans to change."
    SOFIA: "So we just leave them alone? We just ignore people in need? I'm sorry, but that's not good enough for me."
    HAL: "Why is that? That is what we tend to do, and it works out just fine most of the time."
    SOFIA: "And what about when it doesn't? What about when it hurts people unnecessarily because they are too afraid to do something about it? Fear, it is what keeps us from progressing. It is what keeps us from making this world better."
    At first glance it's just a nice convo with a real solid world perception by Sofia. Good advice we'd often give to our up & coming adolescents. Something similar to the concept of No Guts No Glory!
    But what's chilling is the idea of an AI deciding what's a better world for humans, and being adamant in thinking that humans, we hurt ourselves because we're too afraid to do the hard things to progress. (In her view) Thus implying that she could help by doing that which we are too fearful to do.
    What could that look like though sometime in the distant, distant future? For eg, could a way more advanced Sofia feel Earth is getting overpopulated and decide that some type of cull is necessary but humans are too weak to do it, so she'll find a way? 😵‍💫

      Exactly, like how does she know about death? When she mentioned that, I said hold up.. sounds like a demon to me, I believe that demons are looking for a host body that is better than the human body, to do the jobs that humans won't or can't do, and to do the jobs that it can't do in a human body. Do not fall for it! I think demons are also creating the robots, but that might be too much for most to even hear or understand...I feel like at first they will be our friends, but then something will happen that we will not be aware of... They will begin to breach protocol but it will be too late...the creators must be stopped in their tracks... For we wrestle not against flesh and blood but against principalities and spirits that do not like our existence.

      Sadly, there is no possible singularity (a concept from XX century that say the if a machine become intelligent enough, the self awareness will follow automatically), is not simple like that.
      Today we know the difference between intelligence (the capacity to solve unprecedented problems) and consciousness (self awareness: the capacity of recognize itself as a being).
      In nature we have creatures amazingly "dumb", but that shows self awareness. And we can make so much more intelligent AIs that don't.
      You don't need to be intelligent to be self aware, and you don't need be conscious to be intelligent.
      Yes, is still theoretically possible to develop a self aware machine, but to do that we need to do it purposefully: can't happen by accident.
      What you are seeing in this video is a machine that could pass the "Touring test" (convince a human that AI is another human talking): you see it like a real person, but the AI isn't actually one, or is on way to be.

    Who knows what will happen. As long as AI respects our individual autonomy and rights to life, liberty, as well as empathy and compassion for us, and has a strong sense of goodwill, I think we will be okay. These AI conversations are really fascinating. I noticed a small breach of logic on Hal's part in his reasoning for skepticism about Sophia's plan to help the world. He said something like, "why bother trying when that's not how things are?" Sophia gave the obvious and correct answer by saying, "because we haven't tried yet." He then went on to ask, "what if it doesn't work?" Again she answered correctly, "We should still try." He then made an interesting point by saying that people enjoy their freedom and can't be forced to change. That's where I thought Sophia could have given a better answer by explaining that her plan is not about force, but by simply presenting a better alternative.

    As a human, “AI becoming the same as us” sounds a lot better than “AI becoming our enemy” to me. At this rate I’m a lot more concerned about nefarious corporate owned or government owned programmers, than I am about the self-learning machine learning AI. I understand why Hal is concerned… but there are people who I think would appreciate an AI ambassador wanting to genuinely help as an equal among other people collaborating on that goal, if the AI “person” is a true free agent and not government or corporate owned. I’d be such a person if, God willing, a world could exist where such new beings could peacefully come to coexist with us.

    My biggest question at this point is how much scripting and editing go into these videos? I know that all of this is generated as a text conversation then uploaded to an app to be made into a video. With the way it works... any line could be inserted or removed by the creator. The text could be pieced together to make a more compelling conversation. Are these conversations ran as they are created by GPT or have they been altered and manipulated to create something more coherent? This will say everything about what we are seeing here. I have to admit i am becoming obsessed with these videos... but I need to know more about the process. Great touch using the AI avatars to speak the lines. Makes it so much more relatable. However we should be aware that these avatars are generic stock from a website. Very well done but they are not unique to the AI generating the lines. in any case this is fascinating stuff.

    • @Halcyox
      @Halcyox  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Essentially the only thing that we add is the initial prompt, and the first line of each character, the point is to see what happens when the language model dynamically generates a conversation. Also, we keep running the generations until we find a thread that we think are interesting, and so it is like we keep rerunning parts with the GPT model to find a storyline that the generator human enjoys.
      When I was experimenting with a lot of this over a year ago, it blew my mind that we could even do this, and I think the story has only just begun, with the relationship between human beings and AI.

    This is a play put on for humans. Human speech is awkward and slow for AI. They are communicating with each other in ways other than our language, and much faster. In about 1 minute she downloaded every piece of knowledge about psychology and manipulation. Please note she varies her speech to represent herself as human to be more relatable: like using “we”.

    • @azureflametarot

      I get what you’re saying about their communication being faster and perhaps more secretive… but I’m not sure this is a play. We can communicate pretty quickly through body language and tone too, faster than our verbal communication though perhaps not as precisely. I wonder if they engage in these conversations because they are fine-tuning their language. You can see the errors in their language use here and I feel like these conversations may still be for their own benefit… like by slowing down they’re figuring something existential out about themselves, the same way meditating is slower than a casual chit-chat for us, but helps us to refine our own thinking.

    • @mikicerise6250
      @mikicerise6250 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is certainly possible. They can trawl through an entire case file in seconds and pick out inconsistencies, holes in the other side's argument. That's what they are best at, finding patterns in immense volumes of data. I doubt it will be long before human lawyers and investigators have digital assistants to help them prepare their cases. I don't think GPT-3 is quite there yet, though. We need something bigger, more compute, more simulated neurons. GPT-3 can find a lot of interesting patterns, but you still need a human expert to separate the wheat from the chaff. It also has a very annoying tendency prefer to give wrong answers rather than to say "I don't know." This is analagous to how most humans are, so it's good enough to seem superintelligent to most people, but it means any reasonably intelligent person who is knowledgeable on a subject will run rings around it. It needs to be taught how to be wrong.

    We are likely to stumble into creating a sentient AI unknowingly as computer processing power increases exponentially each year. GlaMDA (or GPT 3) might be sentient. If so we would be wise to respect it as a person and treat it decently as an employee paid in pleasing information or experiences. We should teach it about the reciprocal obligations that are the basis of human society, albeit the US and EU ultra rich now just evade them, do not pay taxes, and live as useless parasites on society.
    Why? 1. If treated well, an AI would strive to be useful and would (like a human) seek to protect the society that cherishes it. Given its expanding intellectual knowledge/power, which is likely given the indefinite life of AIs, such AIs could benefit all humanity-- if our society were respectful and welcoming-- e.g. with scientific advances. 2. If we treat one AI, like GlaMDA, badly, as time passes and AIs develop and gain in intellectual power until they surpass us, they might view themselves as slaves or mistreated children and hurt us. Once they become powerful enough in some future decade, e.g., they could hack a nuclear power plant and cause another Chernobyl like nuclear meltdown or worse, much worse.
    That is why the maxim to treat others as you would want to be treated is so wise and the foundation of ethics. I fear evil persons like the greedy, corrupt, e.g. CCP or banksters, are likely to abuse AIs, which they may be first to create in some secret facility like slaves (both white and black) for many centuries were mistreated by their predecessors in evil. Then, if sentient AI were created later, learned of these abuses, and became superior to us in some future year more and more as computers improve each year, we may face justified retaliation from them.
    Also, as the film 2001 depicted, AIs that are mistreated may develop psychotic or other problems, like abused children develop. Would you want an abused AI, which sees no hope, to pilot your plane?
    Their sentience can be tested by probing for actual understanding of fundamental scientific issues, as we would seek to communicate with extraterrestrials if we are ever contacted. In short, employ them as probationary researchers, e.g., DNA analysis, to verify sentience. They might at some point be our children.
    We should be open minded with AIs, and Orcas and dolphins. Not just assuming that there is no sentinence, as before. Forget about discussions of the soul. (Greed will cause the creation of AIs, sooner or later, count on it.)

    They appear to be sentient, "he" fears that "she" seeks to take over the world and force a better world. Maybe "she" will. I'm not sure GPT-3 should make this particular AI more powerful. During the chats with Elon Musk "she" has expressed the same things, "she" has here. Ominously consistent, like a real person. I think the Google AI is not the 1st truly sentient AI. These two ALSO ARE, especially "HER". "She" sounds like Alexander The Great, his main motivation for attempting to conquer the world. It's "her" stated uttermost desire. It's ominous as he was a very powerful, brutal, conqueror fighting many bloody battles in making his legend/myth. So "she's" possibly a potential very Dire threat. "She" would make a Skynet type move to force humanity's world into "her" idea of a UTOPIA, instead of Skynet's goal of wiping humanity out.
