    Just received my Remedy Election Form and concerned about the 'yes/no' commutation declaration under AFPS05/RFPS06 or AFPS15 sections? Absolutely no FAQs or help on which box to select. Concerned I may affect the underpayment owed to me and future pension payments. Can you help? Cheers

    Hi mate good video as always. I am wondering if you could do a video explaining HTD Travel and GYH or answer some questions on those topics? Cheers.

      I'll be doing videos on them in the future. They are on the to-do list

    Hi savvy squaddie, could you please do a video on how to do a self assessment for MoD personnel? Lots of people paying high fees to do something they are capable of themselves and keep their hard earned cash

      Minefield but worth learning and it's simple (on the surface).
      I've just been asked for more details, basically an audit of every journey I've done and why I've done it and show proof of any expenses I've claimed. I'm hoping they mean just car park, taxis etc that I didn't get reimbursed rather than every meal I've claimed for over 12 months!

    Still find it astonishing how the 18/20 years and 40 years old is a thing. In effect the MOD is punishing SP for joining the forces younger. How are they allowed to get away with this?

    • @thesavvysquaddie
      @thesavvysquaddie  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      How is it punishing them? The EDP is a retention tool. It makes that clear too. A junior soldier joining and completing a full 24 year career will hit the EDP point of both the 05 and 15 schemes.

    • @stewie9813
      @stewie9813 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@thesavvysquaddie if you join at age 18 years old you will have to complete 22 years to reach your EDP. If you join at 22 years old you only have to serve 18 years in order to reach EDP as you will be 40 by then. Similar to the over 37 package age debacle, don’t see how this is fair.

    • @thesavvysquaddie
      @thesavvysquaddie  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@stewie9813 Your example is incorrect. If someone joins at 22 years old and only serves 18 years then you will not be entitled to the EDP on the 15 scheme as that is 20 years of service and age 40 or over when leaving. You have to hit both markers. The AFPS05 EDP point is 18 years of service and aged 40. If someone joining at 18 serves until they are 40, then they will hit both markers for both schemes if they have time on both. The individual joining at 22 years old will have to serve until they are 40 in order to receive the EDP on the 05 scheme and until 42 to be eligible for the EDP on the 15 scheme.

      @stewie9813 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@thesavvysquaddie I understand the 18 year old has to serve a full 22 years on both schemes. I was referring mainly to a 22 year old joining circa 2006 who can leave this year with full EDP while his/her younger counterpart has to stay on for another 4 years just because he/er joined at a younger age. In both schemes the 22 year old still gives less than the 18 year old.

    Your videos & expiations are all very helpful. However, there never seems to be any mention of NRPS pension scheme anywhere, not just from TSS. 1986-2009 AFPS75 in payment, 2009-2015 NRPS (deferred till 60 YOA), 2015 - Current AFPS15 (in scope for remedy). Hoping to make it to 60! Really need the RSS to give accurate detailed comparisons. 🤞 Forces Pension Society Member.
    Keep up the good work!

      I have touched in NRPS in my Reservists Pension Scheme video. But information on it is light and it's just a quick overview. But it may help you out.

      @@thesavvysquaddie Thanks. Would you consider making a video to explain the Milroy case that is a big hot potato right now? Particularly the RSD DRoP mis-calculation part. I know many would find it helpful with your graphics and explanations. TY. I’d be happy to share to acquaintances that may be affected.

    When you come to claim your immediate pension/EDP can you choose the date of each month you receive it?

    • @thesavvysquaddie
      @thesavvysquaddie  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      There is no option for that on the form. The EDP/pensions are paid by Equiniti Paymaster. There could be an option to ask them once it's in payment to change the date but I honestly have no idea I'm afraid.

    Its a bit of a step aside, but I'd be curious about your thoughts on the Armed Forces Pension Society. Worth it to sub up early or is the old wisdom of "ignore it til you're about to leave"?

    • @thesavvysquaddie
      @thesavvysquaddie  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Personally, I am a subscriber to them and love what they do and happy to support them by being a subscriber.
      However, if I'm honest, whilst the paid version gives you access to personal help etc, the free articles on their website are enough to get most people by.
      I think most people should subscribe to them purely just to support a non-profit aiming to help serving personnel, veterans and spouse's but I understand not everyone wants to do that.
      So I would say if you don't want to subscribe to them early then, then wait until a couple of years before leaving. They do offer great value for money and are very supportive.
      As a side note, think they missed a trick by not expanding into TH-cam themselves and creating, simple easy to digest explainer videos. But hey, I probably wouldn't be here if they did that.

      I did join them but it was just a waste of money, really hard to get hold felt they were just rushing me when talking to them and for me the information they gave me was wrong
