    It's a phone I'm considering after using the Xperia 5 series phones. I like the fact that all the cameras are now using Exmor RS technology. The price is the only issue. By the way, the model in the UK has 256GB rather than 512GB. The storage seems to be region dependent.

      Right. Looks like in Europe, the model is 256GB not 512GB. Maybe that's why it comes earlier than in the US

    At this rate, this phone are no longer suit to be compared to any other phones like Apple or Samsung. This clearly not for an average consumer. Buy this only if you're planning to use it for professional purposes, or, if you have that much of a money. Otherwise, just stick to normal smartphone.

    • @TKBay
      @TKBay  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I can confirm stabilization is only a 30 frames per second. From testing out the 4K 120 I can also confirm that there is no shaking once you slow down the frame rate to 30 or even 60. So yes stabilization only at 30 fps

    • @torimc
      @torimc 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TKBay Yes, i understand that @120 Fps it shouldn't be an issue because you use it for slo mo's only. But to me, knowing that i cannot get a fluid 4K@60Fps stabilised video, is a real deal breaker.
      4K@30Fps is the same stabilisation limit of last year's xperia 1 iii, so no progress at all!
      While other phones out there that cost less, do stabilise at 4K60.

    • @troy5568
      @troy5568 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@torimc Sony does shoot higher bit rate 4K 60fps videos though. In fact, the bit rate of the Xperias's 4K 60fps videos is 10Mbps higher than 8K 30fps videos of the Galaxy flagships. The higher bit rate is certainly causing more stress to the SoC, and having stabilization will just make the phone overheat faster.
      Besides, you have the likes of Google Photos that could stabilize your footages anyway, so it would be better to have the electronic stabilization in the post-production instead so that the final video quality would not be destroyed by intense active EIS during shooting.

      The question is for how long do you want to have great performance, because even the SD 8 Gen 1 can be overclocked (CPU and GPU) to extreme levels and defeat the Apple A15 Bionic inside the iPhone 13 Pro Max, but that's only for a few minutes (or maybe even seconds) before it starts to throttle down due to heat, or worse, could even lead to hardware failure.
      Performance is not handled by Sony, as they are simply using the best available Qualcomm flagship SoC every year.
      Also, what's with waterproofing that you're talking about? Literally everyone knows that it was Sony who brought water resistance in the smartphone world, so no need to even ask that silly question on a Sony Xperia phone.

    Hi, thanks for this video, one big point :How is the battery life of the new Xperia?
    At beginning the watch shows 07:06pm with a battery status from 48%, at the end from video it shows 07:24 and 41% battery status, means the Sony needs 7 percent battery in 18 minutes. That's not so good if you extrapolate this numbers in a daily use. The phone looks great, but my apprehension is the battery life...Think the display is the battery killer. And with a price from 1400€ or 1600$ it must be a good battery and have to come over a day also with heavy usage. What do you say? Thanks, nice greetings Mike.

      For that amount of time, he was operating the phone at full brightness, powered a small external monitor, and opened a heavy game to demonstrate the features.
      Of course those things will considerably drain the battery, unless the battery size is equivalent to a power bank.
      But for proper endurance test results, GSMArena has garnered a 100-hour endurance rating for the 1 IV, which is 14 hours short from the S22 Ultra but is 13 hours longer than its predecessor.

    • @hazza_007

      @@troy5568 7% in 18 minutes is unacceptable doesn't matter what was done with the device. That's almost 1/4 of the battery in 1 hr usage.
      GSMArena isn't a good indicator for battery life. We need to wait for an extensive battery test before we can say anything about battery life. However considering it doesn't have a LPTO screen the 4K screen will definitely suck battery hard

    • @TKBay
      @TKBay  2 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @michaelhuber2013
      @michaelhuber2013 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thx all:), but how much improvement is possible with a finished software? And since the XZ3 the screen is a battery killer, and I think no software can change this.... And why Sony don't use a LTPO screen, image that Sony would use an 4k LTPO screen, that would increase battery life on a high level like other flagships. I'm a little bit afraid that the M4 will be not a real upgrade to my XZ3 in battery life. I love Sony phones but the only point of criticism is the battery. I think without this it could be a perfect phone.... Nice greetings M.

They never will tell you, in the beginning, what their plans are. For this price point, they need to be at least 4 OS updates and 4-5 years of Security updates. Also, that same 4-5 years of Firmware updates. Sony is asking for a great deal of the customer base, at this price, year in, year out. This is a niche phone, for a very certain consumer.
