    Glad that Sony is keeping the features I love, considering LG has left the phone market. I'm also hoping this means a price drop on Xperia 1 III. The one mildly annoying thing is knowing about the Thermal Issues as I drive for a living, so phone is on the window sort of on a holder while I do deliveries and can cause some running heat.

      @MuhammadKharismawan 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Yeah, kinda hope phones have more low thermal, focused mode where everything is put down other than the one on the screen.
      GPS is always a thermal and battery hog, but I hope at least the HS power control make it not as hot as charging while using GPS.

    Love what they did here. Incremental updates where needed (brighter screen, battery, selfie cam, 512GB standard), and some cool improvements (variable optical zoom on the telephoto, VideoPro added, new Music pro). People will whine about TOO FEW MEGAPIXELS! Lol, but I'm all for rocking the 12MP and having *super* fast continuous shooting frame rates and write speeds, and don't overlook that lower MP count allows for much larger pixels on the sensor, and the associated low light advantages that come with it. And they kept all the great stuff (3.5mm, expandable memory, physical dualSIM, no damn notch, etc.). So overall a great device, *but* not quite sure it's worth an upgrade from my Xperia 1 III at $1,600 plus no high speed charger in box.

    The 120fps shooting, sun viewable screen and 5K mAh and actually, 512 gb now... That's actually a detail most people gawking at the 1600 tag gonna miss.
    I still think Sony would better placed putting out a 5mk4 for us normies to use, but these feature set on the 1mk4 is just great to see.

    I am pretty sure the reason people are "disappointed" by the xperia iV is simply because of how good the previous phones were.
    Sony phones already had a lot of features, there's only so much Sony can do now, as it's difficult to further "complete" an already complete package.
    I am just thankful they are sticking to the features they already have, and not cutting "legacy" features.

    Hey Juan, great video. On the photography side of things, I wish we can have, let's say, a dedicated 50mm lens on the Mark V. The leap from 24mm to 85mm feels a bit much, in my humble opinion. There has to be a middle ground focal length to fill in the blanks, so to speak. What if I don't want to shoot wide, but don't want to zoom in, either, and I want a perspective close to what my eyes saw? And no, I don't want to settle for digital zoom and sacrifice image quality in the process. Just my humble thoughts.

    Don't mind the megapickles, but I do wish they'd made the sensor a wee bit bigger (physically) for more light gathering. That said, those are still pretty big pixels compared to most flagship 50 MPs... and hardly anyone else does 4k120 tele, so that's still a big, big plus!

    • @SomeGadgetGuy

      I don't yet. Sony is a little inconsistent in which apps make the jump to older phones. Often I'd lean towards "probably not", but it is an editing app, and not something camera dependent. I'll move my prediction to an "uncertain maybe".

      I use audio evolution, but it doesn't have one auto silence tool like audacity (at least i don't think it does). I just ripple cut. Mostly use it for podcasts though, so it hasn't been TOO bad compared to desktop editing.

    My favorite smartphone manufacturer I can never afford. The only Xperia I was able to get is Xperia ST21i back in 2012. I just love their design when it comes to smartphones. Classy without flashy gimmicks and I swear one of the only if not the only manufacturer who still implements LED notification.

  • @ThePieareround

    This is the only kind of smartphone I truly salivate over. I mean I'm not even using anything remotely like it and may never choose to, because my phone only really needs to be a good communicator with the ability to do social media and nice automatic snapshots. That's why I moved from an LG V20 to a Pixel 3XL to a Pixel 5. But boy does this kind of pro device with such targeted hardware really make me wish I was doing a job that would benefit from its unique strengths.

    Next thing I'm waiting from Sony is some sort of R version of their flagship, as they do with their Alpha cameras. I think this will complement what they're already greatly achieving.
    We'll just have to choose between what we want then.

    • @Sabundy
      @Sabundy 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      May I ask what you mean by R version?

    • @lionelb8227
      @lionelb8227 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Sabundy
      Sony with their Alpha 7 cameras for example, has a normal 7, an S and an R version. The standard 7 does most of things well, and then there are the other 2. The S stands for "sensitivity" if I'm correct and it's the one with the lowest resolution. On a big sensor it makes each pixel bigger.
      The R on the other hand is for "Resolution" (again I'm not 100% sure about that) and it's the highest MP count from the Alpha 7 range

    Imagine that Sony makes a desktop experience available on the retail version of this thing. That's like way too much power than I really need but, if I had the money, I could even go and try photography and more creative work because of the number of things I could do with this phone. It's insane (and this one isn't even ready, so we're missing what the retail could get)

    Bugs on my Sony Xperia 1 II is minimum to zero, I only dislike the auto-brightness because sometimes it is so dim that all.
