Bottom line is this. We’re women, and we weren’t created to share a husband. No woman can handle that kind of constant betrayal of friendship and marriage.
It is only found in areas of tribal conflict or war or scarce resources where there are not enough men to care for and protect the women so children can be raised to adulthood. But it's not the norm by any means historically. It was even seen in indigenous tribes in Midwest plains where many men perished and the surviving men needed to take on several women to keep the tribe in a healthy population. In a global economy it makes zero sense but codify it with religion and voila. It is the norm for women in those cultures. Those women are raised very cloistered and often not very educated.

I hope Christine is getting every single drop of happiness and love that she deserves. To say that Kody was abusive to her is an understatement. She gave birth to six children with this man. She had a child with a serious condition that had to be addressed with an extensive, invasive surgery, and he offered NO support to Christine or his child. I feel so sad for everything she went through! Meri got a raw deal, but Christine was abused.

She used to wear 80’s frosted sparkly eye shadow up until about four years ago. And the black liner under her eyes makes her look harsh and mean. She’s improved so much since then. Her eyes are her best feature. She’s definitely softened her look.

I think people misinterpret her calm, measured demeanor for wisdom. Unlike those brainwashed to it, she freely chose to join a cult that systematically demeans and oppresses women. Something seems amiss in her psychology to make such a decision for herself and her children. Perhaps her LDS upbringing itself was enough of a conservative, patriarchal foundation for her to abdicate her own authority in life and give it to a man. Since her breakup with Kody she's expressed fear of monogamy, as if it means the loss of independence altogether. I don't think she has any idea what a healthy male-female relationship could look like. Talk of going back into polygamy may be a way to protect herself by keeping distance between herself and a man. I hope she can open herself to healthy interdependence with a partner instead someday rather than limit herself.
This family absolutely shows what polygamy is and proves how destructive it is to everyone. As hard as they tried they couldn't conceal the ugly truth. Katie, you do a phenomenal job of laying it out for us.
It almost sounds like Meri wanted to bring Robyn into the family just to stick it to Christine and Janelle because of her having to have the two of them brought into the marriage. Maybe Meri wanted Christine and Janelle to feel the pain that she felt after they entered the so-called marriage to Kody.

I agree. He wanted to marry Christine, a polygamy blue blood, to raise his status in the church. I really believe that’s why. Then he says Christine made his life easier because he wasn’t stuck between Meri and Janelle But once she had those children, he was done with her.

I keep thinking about Kody not being welcomed into the celestrial kingdom because he only has 1 wife. Poor Kody. The whole thing is a disaster. Plural marriage only works out for the men. They get to pick and choose but restrict how the women live. Does anyone remember in one of the tell-alls, when Robyn said that Kody told her he preferred larger women? She said she asked him why he was with her, being skinny and so different from the others.
In another tell all she fat shamed the other wives saying she'd witnessed weight gain, stretch marks, and they were rejecting Kody affections.
I remember watching this interview when it aired and I believe again back when Netflix still carried the show. It was clear back then that there was a lot more conflict and animosity going on than what they portrayed in the show. It's around the same time my interest in watching began to wain, becoming sporadic and finally not at all by 2015.
Boy were we handed a load of crap by this show! I feel like such a fool for thinking things were very different. Your deep dives are demonstrating how so many of forgot what we heard in that tell all.

Robin takes Kody to the side of the house and SAYS I REALLY SHOULDN'T BE KISSING MY GIRLFRIEND WHILE MY WIFE IS IN LABOR. WHAT A JACKASS.
All this info is in the book. So why was Robyn playing " dumb" to the problems? In one episode she asks Meri " were there cracks in the family I missed?".....

Very true. I remember when my 1st husband cheated on me and I found out. It literally ripped my heart out. Now imagine your husband cheating on you in the next room and you can hear it all yet the next morning you are supposed to smile and “keep sweet” while you pretend you are happy about it.

I have never understood what anyone would find attractive about Robyn. She is so negative and whiny. Her actions are always opposite of what she says. She constantly says she wanted this sister wife family yet she separates not only herself but her children as well from the family. She had a hidden agenda from the very start and it was money and she seems to love playing mind games. She’s very devious and so self absorbed. The other wives mostly Janelle and Christine have such loving personalities and they are team players. They work with each other. I don’t understand why any woman would want to live this lifestyle and of course I think they realize what they have missed out on by living this way and how badly they have been used and mistreated especially since Robyn entered the picture.
They were dysfunctional before Robbing came along . Then pretty shortly after she arrived the dysfunction got so much worse .. just imagine the impact that had on the Children.

It’s over. They have all moved on. Kody is still throwing temper tantrums and pointing his finger at everyone else but it’s about loss of control and income.
