I have never blamed Meri for feeling a way about Janelle. Janelle was married to her brother and then started hanging out with Kody without Meri’s knowledge. I understand why she didn’t trust her. I like Janelle, but she’s not innocent in this feud.

Well actually grooming is when a predatory person builds a relationship with a child OR an adult in order to exploit them, which Kody certainly did to Janelle. Grooming can occur in cults as well. Look it up if you are unsure.
People can be groomed into cults at any age. Kody’s church is a cult, make no mistake about that. You are talking about grooming children for sex, and that is different.
And then Robyn was brought in. I believe Robyn han an ulterior motive and scammed Meri into divorcing Kody so she could be the main wife and destroy Meri's status in the family

Janelle has said on the show that Kody put his name on all of her children’s birth certificates…Christine would not because she grew up in polygamy and was always scared.
I’ve never been a huge Meri fan. But I understand how harmed she is by this culture. She’s suffered so much.
I think the whole plural marriage is insane.
As much as I like Janelle, the whole sister in law to sister wives thing was always weird. No wonder Meri was “mean.” How is she supposed to be cordial with her brother’s ex wife and her new bestie who are now sleeping with her husband. Plus her fertility struggles on top of it, and then how Kody continued to act as Robin came along. Meri kinda has the right to be the “villain” since this weird thing was the foundation of their family and no one has seemed to ever care about her
It's sad that she was raised to believe this lifestyle was worthwhile bc despite everything you recapped, she wouldn't leave. That's the real tragedy. She didn't have to be as sad as she was or become a villain, but her beliefs and loyalty and complete lack of boundaries turned her bitter and resentful. That's no way for anyone to live. I hope she gets the support she needs to really see the bigger picture and that she doesn't bury her head in the sand on any of it. The only way to truly heal is to see it all and admit to your role in it

Kody pursued these women because of what they could do for HIM. Janelle had a house that he needed, Christine had the religious royalty that he needed, and Robyn had the 'experience' that he wanted. Everything for HIM!!!
After 63 years nothing much surprises me when it comes to people.
After 52 nothing surprises me much either. And it truly seems to be only getting worse and worse. Idk if it's because we didn't have internet back then but the level of awful seems 10 times higher. The thing's we heard of back in the day were bad but things like Dahmer and Gacy a so many others were about as bad as it gets and it almost seems like mankind has to keep finding new and worse levels of depraved.

IMHO it’s different because they’re members of a cult who are forced to live with each other & taught from a very young age that having normal feelings makes you a bad person. Well, it’s old news now- but the secrets are slowly coming out. I think, Janelle met Kody and was so enamored by him - she was willing to settle for the scraps. It’s never discussed, but there was a story about him stopping for lunch with Janelle and suggesting she needed a guy like him. Honestly, I think she decided from the moment she met him - that she would do whatever it took to be with him. Bizarre that her mother was also pulled into it.
Janelle said that the moment Meri introduced Kody to the family, she felt a strong connection with Kody and that she's meant to be in the Brown's family
This lifestyle is messed up and sucks for everyone.
I think Kody was very manipulative, he and Janelle fancied each other and they had great chemistry.

So this explains why Janell and Kristine always made Meri feel like an outsider and never liked her or included her. They were jealous of her because she was the "Legal Wife" and even though they had all the kids for Kody, they could never hold that title. Then to have Robin come along and snatch that title right out from underneath them, that must have had them sneathing.

It probably bothered them more than a little, but with Meri being the first wife, she felt free to make all the decisions and run the show. I can see both sides of it. She liked the idea of having a sister wife but then when the intimacy with her husband was obvious, she couldn’t take it. She probably took it out on Janelle and Christine and their kids subconsciously. They had to take it because she was the legal wife. Remember that Janelle left long enough to go to college and buy a house for her family then Kody begged her to come back. They still didn’t have a house.

Tom and I met Bill Paxton from Big Love years before he was on the show. We met him at the Hyatt hotel in the Cayman Islands filming Havana. He was so sweet and so thin in person. Really nice guy. RIP Bill 😔
Meri just doesn’t defend herself against these people and they paint her to be the worst human being ever. This never made sense to me and led me to believe she must be hiding something. Maybe she’s just blindly protecting them out of some sense of loyalty. It couldn’t be me cuz I would blow up their spot after they accused me of being all the things they’ve said about her
I've always felt like Meri had every right to resent Janelle. Janelle has said several times that she and Kody had a connection from the first time.. their eyes met and that was it. The thing is.. she met Kody as Meri's SISTER-IN-LAW! Also.. Christine has mentioned several times about the right and wrong way to get a new wife to join the family. From things that were said, I think Janelle went to Kody and said she'd dreamed she was his wife. Very suspect … Jannelle is married to Meri’s brother; Kody starts flirting with Jannelle while she’s still married to Meri’s brother; no means Mary’s brother; suddenly, Janelle is joining Meri’s marriage & “family” as a sister wife; & to top it all off, Kody‘s father & Jannelle‘s mother get together. This goes far beyond just odd.
Then add in that Jannelle started having a bunch of kids w/ Kody & Meri couldn’t get pregnant after Leon’s birth. No set up for feelings & resentments there.🤦🏻♀️

I watched it. She’s not telling the whole story. Also want to ask her are you lying now or were you lying then. She said she never attended public school. But there was an episode that she met up with a childhood friend from kindergarten or 1st grade.

Janelle said on the show recently that Cody was on all her kids birth certificates. Christine on the same season maybe the same episode said that was why Janelle's kids had a harder time when Cody stopped seeing them. She said it was easier on her kids except maybe Truely because he was hardly around once Robyn came on scene so it was a long time ago her kids got used to it.

I have always felt empathy for the OG3, I think it’s sad how everyone acted as if Meri is the bad wife. If you have ever been in a relationship with a manipulating narcissist who is also a cheater , why is it so hard to feel empathy instead of judging them. I have always understood how Meri felt, how crazy it must have been. Polygamy in general is a crazy life than you add the crazy narcissistic, ego driven, manipulation of some men no wonder some of these women come off as crazy.
I used to work with Jenelle at Nice Corp here in Utah. We were visiting and she asked me if I wanted to meet Kody and she showed me his picture. My response to her was that I was too jealous to ever be in a polygamous relationship and that it would be better for the family that I stay far away from it.

I always got the impression that Kody and Janell’s marriage was one of convenience. Janelle never seemed to be very jealous over him, not like the other wives. She didn’t ever seem to need him at all. I always thought she was to only wife who was in it for the family, not Kody. She wanted to have kids and make her own money. The other wives would help her raise her kids. I always assumed their tension was Meri being controlling and aggressive.
I don’t understand why so much jealousy. They know what they are getting into. They say they want this life. So do they like the feel of the pain they go through. Are they so insecure. I just don’t get it. Just stick with one man don’t get involved with this bullshit.

For all the reasons stated above why Janelle, Christine felt a bond ( hiding children, husband etc) is probably part of reason they had resentment against robin also. She comes in last, yet ends up being a legal wife who get to claim Kody publicly as her husband and also her children ( not even his biological ones) as Kody’s children. I would be pissed too

Meri’s biggest mistake was divorcing Kody so that the twit could marry him. There was no way this was her idea and alarm bells should have been going off like crazy in her head. I think if the show continues it should be called “They were sister wives” and only have the ones who left.😊

What I don't understand is what would he get arrested for he's not married to all of them he's only married to one there's no law that says he can't have four girlfriends and a wife girlfriends and one wife and they all just get along there's no law against that I don't understand why they had to hide everything
Because they were cohabiting in the same house. In many states that's the part of the statute that makes it illegal. In other states you just "have to be living as man and wife" to make it illegal. What ever way you cut it, it was illegal.
I thought it was because they received food stamps and other state aid, and the state would have gone after kody as the father of the children for restitution. I also thought it was said the wives would take turns filing for bankruptcy.
