    I love the idea of using squares of different colors to help plan the colors of other projects. Way easier than using a color wheel for color-challenged folk like me. I have loads of scrap yarn to work with. Would you recommend using yarn of the same weight for the squares?? Great, easy-to-understand video. Thanks for sharing.

      So glad you like the video. I like having the sample squares, because the yarn catches the light differently once it is worked up into a texture. Easier to picture a finished project this way. I do them for all weights of yarn that I have, but I group them based on the yarn weight so I can plan my projects better.

    Hi!
    Thank you for lovly show. I wish to know if the material is cotton. I also wish you to show it slower. Because as biginner one dont know s wich hole and such a things.
    Thanks

      Thank you so much, I am using an acrylic yarn, but cotton will work great too. If you would like the video slower, you can slow it down using the playback speed under settings option. Hope this helps. Enjoy

    If I wanted to make this bigger, would I just repeat round 4?

    • @jspcreate
      @jspcreate  12 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      Yes you could, keeping in mind that when working in the same direction like most granny squares, the bigger it gets the more it will skew, so I find after about round 9, you start to see it slanting. This is because in crochet the stitches are offset. The way to get around that is to work back and forth. My next tutorial I will be working a simple granny square similar to this one, back and forth. I will have that out within the next 2 weeks. Enjoy

    Do you have a tutorial for a half easy breezy square? I’d like to try to make a vest on the diagonal.

    I’m glad you liked my comment but you didn’t answer my QUESTION. Why do you start a round or row with a Chain 3 instead of just crocheting a double? Is there a technical reason? I’m learning so much from your videos and am glad I subscribed to your channel. As soon as I can afford it I’ll be joining as a member.

      It took me a bit to send the response, hopefully you got to see it. I will repaste it here too, Let me know if you need more clarification on it.
      So glad you found this video. The ch 3 is needed to bring the working yarn up to the right height of the rest of the dc stitches. So if you were to start with a dc, it would be on a slant and not the same height as the rest. There is a "standing double crochet" stitch which can be used in place of a chain 3 when starting with a new colour, or there is also a "stacked stitch" which I need to do a tutorial on next. But the chain stitches at the beginning of a round are to "square" up the stitches so the sit properly. I find it easiest on the first round to use a ch 3, but if you were to join a new colour to a round that starts with a double crochet then you can take a look at the standing double crochet here th-cam.com/video/mtiv8bXr3qM/w-d-xo.html Hope this helps, let me know how it goes. ❤

    I saw your video on how you make these sample color squares using the basic stitches so I immediately came over here to see how to make this and now I have a QUESTION. Why do you start with a chain three, which counts as a double crochet, instead of just doing a double crochet to start the round or row? I look forward to receiving an answer.

      @ Yes it does help and thank you for responding so quickly. Thank you too for providing the link to the standing dc. I will be looking for your video on a stacking stitch. Being new I have never heard of either stitch. I’m going to check out the link and practice the standing dc and see if I like it better than the chain three at the beginning of a row. I don’t like how the chain three looks as it never seems to lay nicely and leaves a small gap between it and the dc. You are a great teacher/instructor.

      Thanks so much. I will get making that stacked stitch video to because I am using it more and more these days. It works well for dc and hdc beginnings. So glad this has helped you. 🤗

      @ The standing dc video is just what I needed!!!!!! I thought I was the only one who thought the chain three looked awkward. I also like the invisible join you did there and here as I too don’t like the bump that is left with the traditional way.

    • @jspcreate
      @jspcreate  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks so much for your feedback. I try to not go too fast or too slow ( so the video isn't too long). There is a speed setting option under settings where you can slow down the playback to see something slower, of course then my voice will be slower and lower lol, but hope that helps a little. Is there a certain spot you would like to see slower? I can take this into account when making future videos and do a slowed down part of the square. Let me know, would love to have your feedback..Thanks for watching.

      You can go into your settings, top 3 dots and choose to slow the speed down in the options. I do that a lot ;)
