yeah, that's a huge plothole. Originally, C:V was going to star Jill Valentine (before RE 1.9 was turned into RE3) and some parts of the story would've made much more sense with her, since she was supposed to go to Europe with Chris as per the latter's diary in RE2. The email bit is one of the parts I believe were left over from the very early scenario: Jill gets captured in Europe, she's sent to Rockfort Island and, once she escapes, she sends Chris, with whom she never lost contact, an emergency message. It fits.

But, because of how things went during the development of RE3 and Code: Veronica, Jill never went to Europe (thus creating a plot hole in the series' chronology). In the remake, it is stated that only Chris is on vacation (Marvin says so to Claire) and from the coded message in the STARS office we know he's after Umbrella, while Jill and Barry stayed behind. Which means that Jill's presence in Raccoon City in the upcoming remake of RE3 will actually be justified instead of being totally random as it was in '99 (back then, I remember hoping an explanation on why she was still in America was going to be provided, since I remembered Chris' diary well, but, from the very beginning of the game, it was clear they simply ignored that bit of the RE2 plot).
I don't see the issue. You can send people e-mails without knowing where they are or if they are even alive. This also came out before smart phones were released and cell phones were just starting to become popular for the masses. I'm assuming she had some kind of hope that Chris was seeing her e-mails and Chris ignored them not wanting to get her involved and so maybe replied sparingly or with very small hints just to let her know he was still alive.

Also, she doesn't send Chris an email: she sends an email to Leon so he can get in touch with Chris. As much as I love the game (and I love it a lot - it's my favorite along with RE2), that's one of the many plot holes affecting it: I still believe it was part of the original flowchart when Jill was the one getting caught and, since it was vital to get Chris on the island, they simply rewrote it to better fit Claire. Code: Veronica's plot is a bit of a mess when you really look into it: a lot of things don't really add up (like Alfred writing in his diary he stole his father's ring to open the secret door behind the painting only to discover the lab where he and Alexia were engineered: their bedrooms are behind that very same door!). Although development was never officially rebooted, it was one of the longest of the original games (2 years, just like RE2 - but we all know 1.5 took at least 1 year) and the release date was postponed at least once and I have all the reason to believe they struggled to the very last minute, which would explain the various discrepancies.
It's funny when you think the only scene of Steve that's good is his death. XDXD I hope they make his character better when they eventually remake this.

Fun fact: Chris Redfield is the first ever playable male character in a Resident Evil game who could use the grenade launcher. (As long as you view it from the perspective of Code Veronica having been longer in developement than Survivor) Followed by Ark Thompson, then Billy Coen in Resident Evil 0 and then Ethan Winters in Resident Evil 7 and Resident Evil Village. Ethan Winters is also the first ever playable character to get both the grenade launcher and the flamethrower in the same campaign. Additional fact: To this day, there has never been a playable female character that has had the flamethrower as one of their weapons.

I see you're not counting the Mine Launcher from RE4. I imagine because if firing that weapon made your console catch fire, about five people would notice.

After his whole adventure Chris went home and told himself he’ll never get his ass kicked again. Thus when we see him in RE5, he’s jacked beyond belief. Which is why he also wants Leon to bang Clair. All those workout routines left Chris unable to have kids, so it’s up to Claire to carry the Redfield legacy

ironically RE3 remake was the one that should've stayed remaking similar to the original and RE1Remake/RE2remake, while Code Veronica should've got the remake treatment that RE3remake got. Some content, puzzles, enemies, and rooms in Code Veronica actually benefit by being cut. It was RE3remake that should've kept the stuff that was cut. Clock Tower, The Park, and Nemesis humanoid form(makes him feel less of a threat when he transforms way too early instead of showing how durable humanoid Nemesis was) barely functioning in the acid room before transforming was the stuff that should've stayed

16:34 A problem I have with the story Clair went looking for her brother, ended up on a island, gets to a computer, then messages Leon to message *CHRIS!* and tell him he's being watched. Leon had his working email this whole time! And why didn't she even think about messaging for help? It was Steve that jokingly gave her the idea to ask chris to come. Its something that has always bothered me and I have yet to see anyone bring it up.

Meeting Alfred is one of the funniest cutscenes because of both Claire's 'backwater base' roast and his reaction being to slam the butt of his sniper on the railing whilst offendedly yelling "HOW DARE YOU".

Thing is with code veronica, the knife is amazing compared to most of the other games. You can rack up so much ammo just by slashing at downed zombies in this game, which helps a ton since you need to resource manage more in this than other games.
Funny thing is it works on big enemies too. Downward knife slashes hit big enemies multiple times. Makes you feel like you're weilding a mini chainsaw.
if you read the book, alexia is communicating telephatycally to her brother while shes incubating in antartica, thats why he is dressing like his sister, she is actually there, through the body of her brother to speak with him
I would've really liked that if it was the case in the novel but ALexia could only communicate with those she infected with T-Veronica. She used her telepathy on Alexander while still in cryostasis to check his mental state. Alfred was just driven insane like in the game. I love that version of ALexia so much, she has even more abilities like telekinesis and pyrokinesis.
It's sad that Steve's voice actor is so over the top. That moment w/ his dad could've been so tragic and emotional. And god I forgot how much I love Wesker's voice in CVX! So sexy.

I actually think the backtracking part with Chris is actually really interesting. You get to finally complete all those tasks you missed. I thought it was awesome!
Yeah thought the way they redesigned the base was genius,although I did give up last playthrough cause I didn't save after doing some stuff with Chris and ended up back at the one of the first couple save points and couldn't be fucked figuring out what to do again a few weeks later. First time playing it was mindblowing tho

It’s clear that Code Veronica has major gameplay design flaws, but you have to admit, the story, atmosphere, and soundtrack are top tier. Awesome video!!
The gameplay is so bad that it actively hampers my enjoyment of the game, so much so that I can't even focus on the positives. Sorry to say, the story and atmosphere are not enough to look past how much of a mess this game is.

Did you know that you can prevent zombies from breaking into the metal detector hallway at the beginning ? You just need to block the shutters by going through the second metal detector with a metal item (the original crest or the first aid spray both work if I recall correctly) before duplicating the crest with the 3D printer. Once the duplication is complete, you can reopen the shutters and the zombies won't break through ! And great video by the way, it makes me want to play the game again !
It's probably not gonna happen and Capcom announced that Re4 is most likely getting a remake instead of Code Veronica but it kinda makes sense since Re4 was more successful than CV.
@John Smith Ehem! Re2 got a remake and that was successful. Sure that game has a few issues and the B scenario is almost the same but it still mostly contains moments on why the original was so good. I can understand if you're not a fan of the remake of 3 since it cuts out most of the stuff, enemies, weapons, the worm boss, most of Nemesis' screen time/bosses, etc. But that doesn't mean it's bad. It's still enjoyable for what it is and I'm excited for the announced remake of 4.
@John Smith Ok yeah I'm not a true fan of the RE games but that doesn't mean I know crap. Yes the remake of 3 has issues but that doesn't mean it's not bad. I find it enjoyable and some of the changes are pretty decent. It's not bad but it NEVER tops the original version. Also just because people like me aren't true re fans doesn't mean we're morons. We're just new to the franchise and for me I'm playing the older games so I can catch up with the franchise. I just need a ps1 so I can play the original trilogy.
@John Smith Fake fan? Code Veronica X was the FIRST Resident Evil I played, followed by 2 (original). It's a 22 year old game. A new version will introduce it's storyline to new gamers and may encourage them to play the original. Then they can form their own opinion. Will it lose some of the magic? Probably. But it could be great. I'm up for flipping that coin.
I think the ending beatdown chris got from wesker was what motivated chris to get boulder punching muscles so that he could have a fighting chance next time him and wesker meet again.

Nothing about this game looked bad coming from saturn/ps1/n64. Was legit mind blowing at the time. Again you had to be there during the time to truly appreciate it
Even at the time I looked the other way. I was a teenager at the time. I replayed as an adult and put it off after an hour. Just not a good game. There were so many terrific trailblazing games at that time like MGS2, Devil May Cry, Timesplitters, Tekken Tag Tournament, even The Bouncer ffs. These games successfully made the next Gen leap. You thought “wow, the future is here!” whilst CV looks like it fell behind. A PS1 game with a PS2 texture smoothing things out a bit, except with worse animations that have your character and zombies all move like stiff mannequins. No thanks 👎 It shouldn’t be remade either because they’d have to make too many changes to make it competent, and that’ll anger the Gen Z people who grew up thinking this was a good game.
I was there, it looked bad lol. Pre-rendered backgrounds were still fresh and even to this day look good. CV backgrounds are bad in comparison and look dreadful by today's standards.
Everybody complains that RE started to get sweird and silly after 5 but it actually it was at CV when it started to have absurd monsters and silly villains. Great video by the way! keep it up!
I honestly thought 5 wasn’t that bad. It felt grounded and realistic minus a few parts *cough boulder punching cough*. This game screams over the top, and so does six, but I feel like most of the over the top ness in 6 is better since it knows what it’s doing and roles with it rather than trying to still be scary.
Craig Adams The voice acting isn’t bad. It’s actually pretty good minus a few people like Irving or Excella. Jill was pretty much shoehorned in, but at least there’s some slight relevance to her being there rather than being able to remove her and have it not change the plot even slightly. The volcano part is where things get weird, I mention the boulder punching part because that’s probably the least realistic part of the game and that’s the icing on the cake (even if it is good for a laugh or for some good memes). Before that part though, it more or less felt realistic/grounded with its seriousness and themes for the story.
Still it's nice when there are memorable villains, Salazar, Jack Baker, it's not about being good much more than leaving an impression unlike Revelations villains.

I can’t believe CAPCOM doesn’t even consider remaking this. This is the RE game that deserves the most remake cause it’s a total balance of horror, mystery, and action. The fact that they’re considering remaking RE4 than RECV tells us that CAPCOM only wants cash.
Code Veronica isn’t the one that people have been calling one of the best games of all time. Even if you don’t agree with it, it still stand as the dominant opinion and that’s what Capcom will cater to

RE4 is still very playable and not really that dated at all other than graphics (and even then they're still pretty good, considering). To remake a game that doesn't even need it when there are plenty of other RE games and sidegames that could heavily benefit from a remake is pretty telling. Capcom has never listened to "popular opinion", so let's not pretend that's a thing. They look at statistics and determine if they're going to sell well. If they cared about popular opinion the terrible RE3 remake would never have been released in the condition it was (and still is) in.

Perhaps Capcom thinks that if people see 4 as one of the best games of all time, remaking it would make it the bestest game of all time while remaking CV is just making a good game better. Remaking 4 will only make another good game but is a complete waste of time to make if the original is still accessible to more recent fans. A CV remake is full of untapped potential by being a weaker entry. If it isn’t broken don’t fix it, CV will clearly benefit more from being “fixed” than 4 ever would.
The remake thing is on a roll. They spent years telling everyone that if there was enough fan support, that RE2 would get the REmake treatment. It did. And it's going really well for them, and the fans. Just calm down. It might be a while but they'll give REmake treatment to CVX after Village and RE4 have settled. And it'll be your favorite, and we'll all enjoy it.

"What was that music?" - the sphere Hunter.( that made me laugh by the way) And the best one Steve saying I love you to Claire and sphere having the best blank look on her face lol. @RoboTurkeyNinja No, there were more than a handful of ugly games on the Dreamcast. A lot of first party games looked good, but there was a lot of 3rd party ports of PS1 games and sloppy low budget games.
When I was younger, I remembered X-Play reviewed this game when it first came out. But literally the only thing I remember from it was Steve saying, "I CAAAAAAAAN'T!" in the whiniest, most nasally voice imaginable.
VERY USEFUL TIPS: When you get to the Tyrant boss in the airplane equip your Grenade Launcher, put in 3 B.O.W. Rounds inside and take some Acid Rounds. As soon as the cutscene is over fire 3 B.O.W. Rounds and 2 Acid Rounds, hit the button and he’s dead. Also, save your powerful fire (I think) Bow Gun Arrows and shoot them all at Alexia, don’t stop shooting! After a bit (You may have to heal once) she will transform and go to the second form of the boss. You should be fine after that. Hope this helps.
CV is my favorite as well, i also think it had the best music compared to all the other RE games, this gets a lot of hate because it's one of the more difficult ones, but i love a challenge and getting that A rank was the ultimate challenge loved it!
Agreed, Code Veronica is easily one of the best RE games alongside RE2 (original) and the RE1 remake. I can understand why some people may not like it, but for me the positives vastly outweigh the negatives.
This game has such unique place in my heart, i played it when i was 12 before getting in depth with RE stories (since english wasn’t my first language it was hard for me as child to fully understand the whole story) but i was so investigated in CV story which made it my most favorite game of all time, i love the atmosphere it really made me on my toes the entire game it was and still unique experience. And this is my first time in your channel i must say you have a great soothing voice miss i can hear you talk about my favorite games all the time 😅 keep the great work

I pretty much agree with you in every point made in the video. I just feel the need to point out some minor details: 1 - Enemies don't respawn, but there are certain areas where new enemies appear after specific checkpoints reached. 2 - You can prevent the zombies entering the security box - metal detector area by triggering the system before picking the items. The zombies won't break the windows, but they will be on the hallway outside where you got to use the Eagle Plate. There are 2 fuel tank you can use to kill them faster and you got better weapons and more ammo at that point. 3 - You can kill the Tyrant on the plane without using any weapon at all. You got to hit him with the cargo about 4-5 times, it is easier said than done and it will probably hit you quite some times, so if you are low on ammo, but high on healing items it is a good strategy. You got to pretty much run in circles around him until you listen the cargo catapult signal and shoot. 4 - You underplayed the annoyance the crystal ball - monster Steve section. It is along with the moth hallway the worst parts of the game. :) These are just nitpick on a great video. Keep up the good work! :)
Surprisingly this is the only game that made the knife a legit good weapon, the sound it makes on enemies while swung in a downward position is so satisfying
Idk the crystal ball and steve fight are exaggerated imo, the ball puzzle only killed me once in my first playthrough , and steve you just run and heal when he hits you its really easy
Nosferatu has always been my favorite Resident Evill boss. I remember fighting him for the first time as a kid late at night alone. Him and his theme that plays during the battle creeped me out!
What a great video. I just finished replaying CV and so many of the things you said made me shout "EXACTLY" out loud. Especially when you brought up that freaking elevator in the training facility. That elevator can burn in elevator hell. Honestly my biggest problem with the game was the amount of time I spent watching doors open. Pure agony. I enjoyed Claire's half but by the time I got to Chris and saw I had to go through the military base again I became super bored. Also in regards to Chris, I love him but I feel like he steals Claire's thunder and finishing the last fourth of the game as him was stupid and weird and it felt like a huge disservice to Claire. It really felt like this should have been a solo game for Claire.
I remember getting A rank in this game and felt that was a pretty significant accomplishment, seeing you describe all of this in detail I now know why lol
When I first found out Steve was a character in the resident evil franchise it was on The dark chronicles he had a mature voice that's what I liked about him. But on this one he just sounds like a bootleg Sonic the hedgehog or even a reject.
Your reaction to Steve's death was delightful, lol. Love CV, but I'd forgotten about some of the more frustrating elements. Especially that airplane fight!
Fun fact, he’s not only the mocap for Dante (in addition to VA), but he’s also the one for Chris, especially in RE5. So imagine Dante punching a boulder. Now it makes more sense. At least to me it does. Haha.
At this point I think I've seen close to all of your RE videos and all I can say is thank you. In the last few months of a not so chill deployment and right in the times I needed it most, this channel has taken me back to my childhood and some of my favorite memories playing through these games. Don't ever stop.

I never have been played this game but the scene when Steve dies made me feel sad, was like when Jack dies in Titanic 😭. Thanks to this video i'll buy it for Xbox one this week :3 .

If anyone is interested this sells for like 5€ currently on PS4 and XBOX One. I suggest you all buy it now. The last old school RE game. Also why I always hear people to save ammo? I have played all RE games and in all of them I killed every enemy that I saw. Never had a problem with ammo. I mean you use Shotgun and Grenade Launcher on big groups and the tough enemies and the handgun on single enemies and such. Same with all RE games. So yeah just blast away!

It’s funny how camp Alfred is, and he’s decidedly straight in the absolute worse possible way with Alexia. That’s not even just subtext, Shinji Mikami himself confirmed that the twins shared at least one kiss that happens in-universe right when the VHS stops filming them and cuts off, and Alfred built his giant diorama clock thing that has the little figurines of himself and Alexia kissing right at the end in reference to that homevideo in-game. The official novelisation doesn’t even hide it cos we can read Alfred’s inner thoughts and he has to “suppress his sexual arousal” around her.

yeah, that's a huge plothole. Originally, C:V was going to star Jill Valentine (before RE 1.9 was turned into RE3) and some parts of the story would've made much more sense with her, since she was supposed to go to Europe with Chris as per the latter's diary in RE2. The email bit is one of the parts I believe were left over from the very early scenario: Jill gets captured in Europe, she's sent to Rockfort Island and, once she escapes, she sends Chris, with whom she never lost contact, an emergency message. It fits.

@@3rdwavemedia906 Not sure what you mean. As per RE2 (original), Chris and Jill didn't go on vacation: they were supposed to investigate Umbrella's European HQ. But, because of how things went during the development of RE3 and Code: Veronica, Jill never went to Europe (thus creating a plot hole in the series' chronology). In the remake, it is stated that only Chris is on vacation (Marvin says so to Claire) and from the coded message in the STARS office we know he's after Umbrella, while Jill and Barry stayed behind. Which means that Jill's presence in Raccoon City in the upcoming remake of RE3 will actually be justified instead of being totally random as it was in '99 (back then, I remember hoping an explanation on why she was still in America was going to be provided, since I remembered Chris' diary well, but, from the very beginning of the game, it was clear they simply ignored that bit of the RE2 plot).
I don't see the issue. You can send people e-mails without knowing where they are or if they are even alive. This also came out before smart phones were released and cell phones were just starting to become popular for the masses. I'm assuming she had some kind of hope that Chris was seeing her e-mails and Chris ignored them not wanting to get her involved and so maybe replied sparingly or with very small hints just to let her know he was still alive.
@@AgentSmith-oh7sb Claire infiltrated Umbrella's European HQ looking for her brother and almost got killed in the process: she clearly had no idea where he was, otherwise it would've been incredibly foolish to do what she did. Also, she doesn't send Chris an email: she sends an email to Leon so he can get in touch with Chris. As much as I love the game (and I love it a lot - it's my favorite along with RE2), that's one of the many plot holes affecting it: I still believe it was part of the original flowchart when Jill was the one getting caught and, since it was vital to get Chris on the island, they simply rewrote it to better fit Claire. Code: Veronica's plot is a bit of a mess when you really look into it: a lot of things don't really add up (like Alfred writing in his diary he stole his father's ring to open the secret door behind the painting only to discover the lab where he and Alexia were engineered: their bedrooms are behind that very same door!). Although development was never officially rebooted, it was one of the longest of the original games (2 years, just like RE2 - but we all know 1.5 took at least 1 year) and the release date was postponed at least once and I have all the reason to believe they struggled to the very last minute, which would explain the various discrepancies.

If any RE game is in dire need of a remake/re-imagining it's definitely Code Veronica. There's so much to love about it.
It has lots of materials to play around with for a remake/boot, it does feature luckluster monsters but awesome weapons and locations, A remake is indeed good
ironically RE3 remake was the one that should've stayed remaking similar to the original and RE1Remake/RE2remake, while Code Veronica should've got the remake treatment that RE3remake got. Some content, puzzles, enemies, and rooms in Code Veronica actually benefit by being cut. It was RE3remake that should've kept the stuff that was cut. Clock Tower, The Park, and Nemesis humanoid form(makes him feel less of a threat when he transforms way too early instead of showing how durable humanoid Nemesis was) barely functioning in the acid room before transforming was the stuff that should've stayed

A problem I have with the story
Clair went looking for her brother, ended up on a island, gets to a computer, then messages Leon to message *CHRIS!* and tell him he's being watched. Leon had his working email this whole time! And why didn't she even think about messaging for help? It was Steve that jokingly gave her the idea to ask chris to come.
Its something that has always bothered me and I have yet to see anyone bring it up.

B-Kato felt as development went on making code veronica another Claire and Leon game would of made people feel like it was just Resident Evil 2.5

Thing is with code veronica, the knife is amazing compared to most of the other games. You can rack up so much ammo just by slashing at downed zombies in this game, which helps a ton since you need to resource manage more in this than other games.
Funny thing is it works on big enemies too. Downward knife slashes hit big enemies multiple times. Makes you feel like you're weilding a mini chainsaw.
the knife doesn't feel too op either! I wish the ports of the first 3 games would balance the knife like this.
if you read the book, alexia is communicating telephatycally to her brother while shes incubating in antartica, thats why he is dressing like his sister, she is actually there, through the body of her brother to speak with him
I would've really liked that if it was the case in the novel but ALexia could only communicate with those she infected with T-Veronica. She used her telepathy on Alexander while still in cryostasis to check his mental state. Alfred was just driven insane like in the game.
I love that version of ALexia so much, she has even more abilities like telekinesis and pyrokinesis.

With RE3 getting a release in April, RE Code Veronica will almost certainly be the next remake. Code Veronica needs it badly considering it aged poorly graphic wise.

I actually think the backtracking part with Chris is actually really interesting. You get to finally complete all those tasks you missed. I thought it was awesome!
Yeah thought the way they redesigned the base was genius,although I did give up last playthrough cause I didn't save after doing some stuff with Chris and ended up back at the one of the first couple save points and couldn't be fucked figuring out what to do again a few weeks later. First time playing it was mindblowing tho

The gameplay is so bad that it actively hampers my enjoyment of the game, so much so that I can't even focus on the positives. Sorry to say, the story and atmosphere are not enough to look past how much of a mess this game is.

Did you know that you can prevent zombies from breaking into the metal detector hallway at the beginning ?
You just need to block the shutters by going through the second metal detector with a metal item (the original crest or the first aid spray both work if I recall correctly) before duplicating the crest with the 3D printer.
Once the duplication is complete, you can reopen the shutters and the zombies won't break through !

It's probably not gonna happen and Capcom announced that Re4 is most likely getting a remake instead of Code Veronica but it kinda makes sense since Re4 was more successful than CV.
@John Smith Ehem! Re2 got a remake and that was successful. Sure that game has a few issues and the B scenario is almost the same but it still mostly contains moments on why the original was so good. I can understand if you're not a fan of the remake of 3 since it cuts out most of the stuff, enemies, weapons, the worm boss, most of Nemesis' screen time/bosses, etc. But that doesn't mean it's bad. It's still enjoyable for what it is and I'm excited for the announced remake of 4.
@John Smith Ok yeah I'm not a true fan of the RE games but that doesn't mean I know crap. Yes the remake of 3 has issues but that doesn't mean it's not bad. I find it enjoyable and some of the changes are pretty decent. It's not bad but it NEVER tops the original version. Also just because people like me aren't true re fans doesn't mean we're morons. We're just new to the franchise and for me I'm playing the older games so I can catch up with the franchise. I just need a ps1 so I can play the original trilogy.

A new version will introduce it's storyline to new gamers and may encourage them to play the original. Then they can form their own opinion. Will it lose some of the magic? Probably. I think the ending beatdown chris got from wesker was what motivated chris to get boulder punching muscles so that he could have a fighting chance next time him and wesker meet again.

Nothing about this game looked bad coming from saturn/ps1/n64. Was legit mind blowing at the time. Again you had to be there during the time to truly appreciate it
Even at the time I looked the other way. I was a teenager at the time. I replayed as an adult and put it off after an hour. Just not a good game.
There were so many terrific trailblazing games at that time like MGS2, Devil May Cry, Timesplitters, Tekken Tag Tournament, even The Bouncer ffs.
These games successfully made the next Gen leap. You thought “wow, the future is here!” whilst CV looks like it fell behind. A PS1 game with a PS2 texture smoothing things out a bit, except with worse animations that have your character and zombies all move like stiff mannequins. No thanks 👎
It shouldn’t be remade either because they’d have to make too many changes to make it competent, and that’ll anger the Gen Z people who grew up thinking this was a good game.
I was there, it looked bad lol. Pre-rendered backgrounds were still fresh and even to this day look good. CV backgrounds are bad in comparison and look dreadful by today's standards.
Everybody complains that RE started to get sweird and silly after 5 but it actually it was at CV when it started to have absurd monsters and silly villains.

I honestly thought 5 wasn’t that bad. It felt grounded and realistic minus a few parts *cough boulder punching cough*. This game screams over the top, and so does six, but I feel like most of the over the top ness in 6 is better since it knows what it’s doing and roles with it rather than trying to still be scary.
Agreed, while the gameplay certainly took a different direction in 4, the stories definitely started to feel sillier by Code Veronica.
I’ve always said this and thought this game doesn’t get criticized enough for that. This game paved the way for 0, 5, & 6 story wise
Craig Adams The voice acting isn’t bad. It’s actually pretty good minus a few people like Irving or Excella. Jill was pretty much shoehorned in, but at least there’s some slight relevance to her being there rather than being able to remove her and have it not change the plot even slightly.
The volcano part is where things get weird, I mention the boulder punching part because that’s probably the least realistic part of the game and that’s the icing on the cake (even if it is good for a laugh or for some good memes). Before that part though, it more or less felt realistic/grounded with its seriousness and themes for the story.
Still it's nice when there are memorable villains, Salazar, Jack Baker, it's not about being good much more than leaving an impression unlike Revelations villains.

I can’t believe CAPCOM doesn’t even consider remaking this. This is the RE game that deserves the most remake cause it’s a total balance of horror, mystery, and action. The fact that they’re considering remaking RE4 than RECV tells us that CAPCOM only wants cash.
Code Veronica isn’t the one that people have been calling one of the best games of all time. Even if you don’t agree with it, it still stand as the dominant opinion and that’s what Capcom will cater to

RE4 is still very playable and not really that dated at all other than graphics (and even then they're still pretty good, considering). To remake a game that doesn't even need it when there are plenty of other RE games and sidegames that could heavily benefit from a remake is pretty telling. Capcom has never listened to "popular opinion", so let's not pretend that's a thing. They look at statistics and determine if they're going to sell well. If they cared about popular opinion the terrible RE3 remake would never have been released in the condition it was (and still is) in.

Perhaps Capcom thinks that if people see 4 as one of the best games of all time, remaking it would make it the bestest game of all time while remaking CV is just making a good game better. Remaking 4 will only make another good game but is a complete waste of time to make if the original is still accessible to more recent fans. A CV remake is full of untapped potential by being a weaker entry. If it isn’t broken don’t fix it, CV will clearly benefit more from being “fixed” than 4 ever would.
The remake thing is on a roll. They spent years telling everyone that if there was enough fan support, that RE2 would get the REmake treatment. It did. And it's going really well for them, and the fans.
Just calm down. It might be a while but they'll give REmake treatment to CVX after Village and RE4 have settled. And it'll be your favorite, and we'll all enjoy it.

I played the Dreamcast version of CV when it launched, it blew me away at the time.

VERY USEFUL TIPS: When you get to the Tyrant boss in the airplane equip your Grenade Launcher, put in 3 B.O.W. Rounds inside and take some Acid Rounds. As soon as the cutscene is over fire 3 B.O.W. Rounds and 2 Acid Rounds, hit the button and he’s dead.
Also, save your powerful fire (I think) Bow Gun Arrows and shoot them all at Alexia, don’t stop shooting! After a bit (You may have to heal once) she will transform and go to the second form of the boss. You should be fine after that.
Hope this helps.
I prefer to use the explosive arrows on the Tyrant on the plane. They have him limping within seconds.

CV is my favorite as well, i also think it had the best music compared to all the other RE games, this gets a lot of hate because it's one of the more difficult ones, but i love a challenge and getting that A rank was the ultimate challenge loved it!
Agreed, Code Veronica is easily one of the best RE games alongside RE2 (original) and the RE1 remake. I can understand why some people may not like it, but for me the positives vastly outweigh the negatives.
This game has such unique place in my heart, i played it when i was 12 before getting in depth with RE stories (since english wasn’t my first language it was hard for me as child to fully understand the whole story) but i was so investigated in CV story which made it my most favorite game of all time, i love the atmosphere it really made me on my toes the entire game it was and still unique experience.

The Anti B.O.W grenade rounds and around three Explosive Arrows also finish the second Tyrant extremely quickly
Yes, The bowgun was heavily nerfed here, but thankfully they introduced the explosive arrows, only use them to take out bandersnatches
Alternatively, if you have a full round for the bow gun, you can unload the whole round and kill him just like that
I pretty much agree with you in every point made in the video.
I just feel the need to point out some minor details:
1 - Enemies don't respawn, but there are certain areas where new enemies appear after specific checkpoints reached.
2 - You can prevent the zombies entering the security box - metal detector area by triggering the system before picking the items. The zombies won't break the windows, but they will be on the hallway outside where you got to use the Eagle Plate. There are 2 fuel tank you can use to kill them faster and you got better weapons and more ammo at that point.
3 - You can kill the Tyrant on the plane without using any weapon at all. You got to hit him with the cargo about 4-5 times, it is easier said than done and it will probably hit you quite some times, so if you are low on ammo, but high on healing items it is a good strategy. You got to pretty much run in circles around him until you listen the cargo catapult signal and shoot.
4 - You underplayed the annoyance the crystal ball - monster Steve section. It is along with the moth hallway the worst parts of the game. :)

Surprisingly this is the only game that made the knife a legit good weapon, the sound it makes on enemies while swung in a downward position is so satisfying
There's also that special green-colored grenade launcher rounds for the tyrant.
Idk the crystal ball and steve fight are exaggerated imo, the ball puzzle only killed me once in my first playthrough , and steve you just run and heal when he hits you its really easy

Explosive bow gun bolts make the second Tyrant fight and Alexia fights super easy.

What a great video. I just finished replaying CV and so many of the things you said made me shout "EXACTLY" out loud. Especially when you brought up that freaking elevator in the training facility. That elevator can burn in elevator hell.
Honestly my biggest problem with the game was the amount of time I spent watching doors open. Pure agony. I enjoyed Claire's half but by the time I got to Chris and saw I had to go through the military base again I became super bored.
Also in regards to Chris, I love him but I feel like he steals Claire's thunder and finishing the last fourth of the game as him was stupid and weird and it felt like a huge disservice to Claire. It really felt like this should have been a solo game for Claire.
I remember getting A rank in this game and felt that was a pretty significant accomplishment, seeing you describe all of this in detail I now know why lol
When I first found out Steve was a character in the resident evil franchise it was on The dark chronicles he had a mature voice that's what I liked about him. But on this one he just sounds like a bootleg Sonic the hedgehog or even a reject.

Also why I always hear people to save ammo? I have played all RE games and in all of them I killed every enemy that I saw. Never had a problem with ammo. I mean you use Shotgun and Grenade Launcher on big groups and the tough enemies and the handgun on single enemies and such. Same with all RE games. So yeah just blast away!

It’s funny how camp Alfred is, and he’s decidedly straight in the absolute worse possible way with Alexia. That’s not even just subtext, Shinji Mikami himself confirmed that the twins shared at least one kiss that happens in-universe right when the VHS stops filming them and cuts off, and Alfred built his giant diorama clock thing that has the little figurines of himself and Alexia kissing right at the end in reference to that homevideo in-game. The official novelisation doesn’t even hide it cos we can read Alfred’s inner thoughts and he has to “suppress his sexual arousal” around her.
I got this on Dreamcast when it was first released. I forgot how camp the dialogue was. Also, just replayed the original remake thanks to your inspired video. You were right, it's one of the finest games ever made.
