I have discovered a good way to rack up AA base miles is to book hotels through AA. You have to pay for the entire stay in advance with no refund if you cancel, but you can get 15K base miles on a 3 day stay
@@balloonpark This past spring, I got them both 1 month apart, and my player 2 got them 2 days apart. No issues, and we have 4 credit accounts and a couple hundred thousand miles.
🐒 I think citi will be the exclusive card for AA. Would be nice to transfer TY points to AA when that happens, but I am worried they will devalue the program significantly for that. Will be snagging the inflight offer for the barclays card next time i fly AA now
Realise how the FAs on american flights only promoted barclays credit card instead of citi. Yeah I guess the welcome offer is way more generous than citi's
I do have the black Amex however ironically I only fly UNITED for domestic travel and over seas I like flying SWISS , Austrian & ETIHAD Best airlines in my book…but being a black Amex card holder I do like the centurion club lounges at some airports…
@@AskSebby the $20 is new this year! We were there in January and were surprised because the previous times we’d been it used to be $10 which I thought was a great deal!
I’m on 5/24 and want to get the sapphire preferred in April once I’m back to 4/24, should I wait until then for the CSP or preferably get the Barclays AA card? (I was thinking of getting the AA one either way but after I got the CSP)
🐒 I have the Barclays AA card. I like it. But would be fine with the Citi version. It’s really similar. Just moved from Boston to OKC so new JetBlue card and lounge would have been more interesting to me if I still lived there. Just canceled my JetBlue Plus card b/c there is no JetBlue service at OKC.
🐒 i'm not a beach person (haven't been impressed by any beach destinations other than hawaii) and have two aspires, so the hilton aspire credit change significantly impacts me. i originally planned to get the credits back next year at kwetu nairobi and the hilton samarkand regency, but both are now off the list. i could use the credits at the waldorf in versailles or the conrad in tonglu since i go to france and china often, but that's suboptimal and not a long-term solution. i suppose i do enough aspirational travel that my effective annual fee of $350 is justifiable, but this one really does hurt.
🐒 I think the Hilton Resort credit is overrated on the Aspire card. If you could use your free night certificate for a resort i think it'd be much better.
🐒Just completed both Barclays AA & Citi AA SUBs for me and my player 2. I have used many of them for Carribean and US domestic flights and finding great value. You mentioned the possibility that Citi might transfer to AA now, and if the ratio was decent that would be wonderful. Would 1:1 even be possible?
The impending JetBlue lounges is certainly welcome news. One might say it's been a long time coming and likely needed to remain competitive in the premium segment. I can't understand why passengers on coast-to-coast flights in Mint wouldn't qualify for entry though. Appreciate that it might be for crowd control though then it means they'll still lag behind the big-3.
🐒 the thing that really sucks about AA losing the barclay's card is that it takes away a SUB to get AA miles. When planning a trip for my parents, I had to get them to open both cards and now it's not going to be an option soon if this deal goes through
🐒 1) Sounds like Citi exclusive, would make sense, seeing as you can't apply for the Barklay's AA Biz card anymore. 2) Never flown JetBlue & have no plans to, but I might one day & it can't hurt to have another player in the card/lounge game. 3) Nope. No AmEx Platinum as of yet, & haven't used my new Biz Gold for that yet, either.
Recently canceled Citi Platinum AA because they cut my credit line by half and got the Barclays Aviator Red AA to replace it, so now it looks like Im getting the Citi Platinum back? Wow.
It's Bar-CLAYs, not Barkleys. LOL. Source my godmother was a vice president for them and I spent almost everyday after school at her office when I was a kid.
I’m not surprised .. Barclays customer service has been a major challenge for me. Their interest rates are terrible. Especially for those with great credit. Super frustrating .. no ability to discuss or adjust. Doesn’t want to make you use the card much. I guess we’ll see .. thx Sebby ..

Better get it sooner rather than later with the expected changes!

I wonder if Citi AA Executive will ever get AUs into Alaska lounges. Or if BoA would ever make a premium Alaska card.
LOOOOOOONG overdue for BOA to do a premium Alaska card

I ain’t gonna lie… Sebby seems like a cool guy. I hope one day that I get the opportunity to shake his hand and drink a cold one 🍻
Barclays issuing that new Jetblue card?
I just got the Barclays AA card! 🐒
Nice!
Those views of the Roku LXR are bringing back memories!!

Citi blows. Their credit policies are just idiotic.
Damn, was looking to book Baker's Cay before the end of the year. WTF??

Lots of international markets have 2 issuers of the same AA card. In Canada 🇨🇦 both TD & RBC issued AA Advantage in the early 2000's .
The best Barclays card I’ve ever seen is the uber Visa card. Sucks that it’s gone.
How are you liking Waldorf Pedregal? I can tell from the fire place and tv location.
Beautiful property, great service. Just wish there wasn’t a $20 up charge for the buffet breakfast 😒
It also seems like a super popular spot to redeem free night certificates. At check-in, they mentioned that 70% of guests have Diamond status 😂

If AA does go with citi, I'm glad i got the SUB on the barclays and mid tier citi one. Hopefully citi gets them as a transfer partner too.

Many all-inclusive resorts not included in the credit. This is a pretty big facepalm in my eyes.
