Idk why TP is so universally underrated. I’ve played all the mainline Zelda entries and TP has been always been my favorite by far. It’s the ultimate classic Zelda experience.

Jose's favourite game is Wind Waker, and he knows his stuff when it comes to Zelda. This was a fair and honest review that points out the flaws with Twilight Princess generally and how most of us we're a bit underwhelmed by the graphics since it wasn't anything like the 2011 tech demo.
i think 2011 tech demo Link might be in smash 3ds. TP Link's model there looks extremelly similar to that tech demo iirc, not the wii u version of smash bros, but 3ds

Ryan Clay The changes to the Tears of Light did nothing. You still had to backtrack the ENTIRE AREA. It made a the 40 minute side quest into a 30 minute side quest. They should have just taken it out.
I love this game so much. I'm gonna buy it as soon as I can on March 4th. But I will admit they could have done more, I mean, I'm exited as hell, but maybe they could have updated more models. Doesn't stop it from being my favourite loz game though.

dragonwarriorz1 I don't, and I'm a gamer, but lets be fair. They do so because they feel that people have not fairly thought about a product before making a judgement call.
I really wish they would have added more realistic lighting to this game like they did with Wind Waker HD. Wind Waker has incredibly stylized visuals, but with the improved lighting, the world feels much more real in spite of this. The way light hits objects in Wind Waker HD just looks fantastic. If they did the same in TP HD, I think the visuals would look more up to par with today's standards, but it would probably change the atmosphere in certain areas, so they probably opted not to alter the original too much.
Put them side by side and the difference is pretty insane. This game is nothing more than what you'd expect it to look like when running on dolphin but the detail in the original game is far less.
Twilight Princess is the best game ever made in my opinion, a MASTERPIECE, a WORK OF ART. They could have done more with the graphics. Look at Wind Waker HD. They could've upgraded the shaders, the lighting in general, and overhauled the textures. They can't just slap a couple of new textures on in spots and up the resolution and call it an "HD Remake". As a person who has played TP several times through, and racked up about 400 hours total, I'm really disappointed in this. I can hardly see a difference between this and the original. Shame.
Bought it and love it. It definetly does look alot better then what you see through vidoes of gameplay. its just one of those things you need to experience personally on your tv and then youll understand. Still my 2nd favorite title in the series.
It is only upscaled in resolution and some slight texture work. It does not run at 60FPS and the graphics were reused rather than remastering/overhauling it.

For me, I didn't really like playing this game without a notched octagon GameCube joystick. Sometimes it's easy to miss jumps because link is either going slightly left or slightly right. I heard they modified the controls but it doesn't feel like it.
The resolution has been increased from 480p to 1080p, the textures have been improved, you can make use of the gamepad for a few things like aiming weapons and equipping inventory, there’s hero mode which is basically hard mode, amiibo support and a new optional dungeon that can be unlocked by using the Wolf Link amiibo, I’d say pick this version up
Get a reviewer who knows what their talking about he said this game was for the gamecube when its sole purpose was for the wii. The wii version came out is November 2006 the a GameCube version was released after in December
I can agree that the lack of lights casting shadows is a big drawback, especially after I played Majora's Mask 3d version on the tv, which looks fantastic imo. I'm still not sure if I should get it or not, very tempting but the price is still pretty steep.
Imo it’s hands down the best one out there, it may lack in graphical performance, but it’s by far the best Zelda visually. The design and colors are just far better
Only con was the graphics and it got 8.6. I haven't played a Zelda game that was below a 9 in my life. Think this holds up well and even though they didn't put as much into the graphics as Wind Waker's update, I think it still looks amazing.
Man I really hope Skyward Sword gets an update like this too, maybe even on the NX. I would love to play that game in HD, its graphics are way more suited for an HD remaster - like Wind Waker was, plus I would just love to play the game without motion controls being forced upon me..
As someone who just acquired a new wii u just to have a LOZ marathon, and who has also never beat this game, this remake is more than welcome. Had it one day and Im already in Goron Village.
Does seem a slightly lower score for a few missing shadows. I think in a recent voice chat Jose questioned the need for a remake of this game at the time. It looks like that feeling is reflected in the score. There is no consistency in the reviews, like others have said, how can the latest COD receive a higher score for such a dire game?

Do not get me wrong, I thoroughly enjoy Twilight Princess but after seeing the updates done to Ocarina of Time, Wind Waker, and Majora's Mask this seems very lazy. I was actually suprised Jose cited issues with the graphical "clean-ups" considering he defends Nintendo games often on Voice Chat. I just feel like Nintendo gets away with putting out inferior games because of the nostalgic reputation they have built. It's why they can put an interation of "New Super Mario Bros." on every single one of their consoles. Why does this keep happening? I would like to see Nintendo take more chances and stop cashing in on jaded icons.
I think the controls are the selling point for me, that and it was a good game no surprise there. I really like these hd zelda games. i hope they do skyawrd sword didn't beat it because of the controls.
As a HD port, I think an 8.6 is fair enough. They didn't do much aside from update a few textures and up-scale to 1080p, not as drastic an update as Wind Waker HD, which almost looks completely different.
There are two types of people that should buy this game. the zelda fanatic and the people who missed it the first time around and have not played this game . So not me i have played the game before on the wii and im not a fanatic zelda guy
You should definitely get a backwards compatible Wii, or a GameCube, or both! Amazing consoles that don't really get the credit they deserve. I can list so many awesome games on the GameCube alone... F-Zero GX, Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, Four Swords Adventures, Mario Party's always good, Double Dash, Metroid Prime 1 & 2, Super Mario Sunshine, Resident Evil remakes, Resident Evil 4, Pikman 1 & 2... the list goes on!

Hmmm...Gamecube, Got both Windwaker and Twilight Princess, add the hard to get NES Zeldas and OOT HD with Master Quest plus two Metroid games and two starfox games. WiiU only has two Zelda Remakes from said gamecube, No Starfox, No Metroid.... And Nintendo has board meetings on figuring out why the WiiU is selling so poorly compared to it's older systems....
It was a fantastic game relative to the time. It's still good, but a lot of bigger, better games have come out in those 10 years. I assume you're a young'un if you're surprised by that notion.

+bungi fish The upgrade in its graphics werent as significant. Windwaker had higher poly models, an upgraded lightinig engine, remodeled some areas entirely, higher res textures, etc. This remakes only really big change are the textures.

Wind Waker has incredibly stylized visuals, but with the improved lighting, the world feels much more real in spite of this. The way light hits objects in Wind Waker HD just looks fantastic. If they did the same in TP HD, I think the visuals would look more up to par with today's standards, but it would probably change the atmosphere in certain areas, so they probably opted not to alter the original too much.
the original is much more darker than this remaster, I bet they went the skyward sword route for it, it feels more kiddie than its tone originally was
Whoever says this looks exactly like the original one on dolphin, has absolutely no idea of what he's talking about.
Put them side by side and the difference is pretty insane. This game is nothing more than what you'd expect it to look like when running on dolphin but the detail in the original game is far less.

IGN gives twilight princess for Wii a 9.5 and then gives the HD version a 8.6. WHAT?
Twilight Princess is the best game ever made in my opinion, a MASTERPIECE, a WORK OF ART. They could have done more with the graphics. Look at Wind Waker HD. They could've upgraded the shaders, the lighting in general, and overhauled the textures. They can't just slap a couple of new textures on in spots and up the resolution and call it an "HD Remake". As a person who has played TP several times through, and racked up about 400 hours total, I'm really disappointed in this. I can hardly see a difference between this and the original. Shame.

Bought it and love it. It definetly does look alot better then what you see through vidoes of gameplay. its just one of those things you need to experience personally on your tv and then youll understand. Still my 2nd favorite title in the series.

It is only upscaled in resolution and some slight texture work. It does not run at 60FPS and the graphics were reused rather than remastering/overhauling it.

For me, I didn't really like playing this game without a notched octagon GameCube joystick. Sometimes it's easy to miss jumps because link is either going slightly left or slightly right. I heard they modified the controls but it doesn't feel like it.
Not every game has to be modern for you to enjoy it and my experiences with twilight princess still has me get my wii version back out and playing it

The resolution has been increased from 480p to 1080p, the textures have been improved, you can make use of the gamepad for a few things like aiming weapons and equipping inventory, there’s hero mode which is basically hard mode, amiibo support and a new optional dungeon that can be unlocked by using the Wolf Link amiibo, I’d say pick this version up

hate to burst your bubble but it was a GC game first and ported to Wii last second, hence why the Wii version is flipped horizontally.

I can agree that the lack of lights casting shadows is a big drawback, especially after I played Majora's Mask 3d version on the tv, which looks fantastic imo. I'm still not sure if I should get it or not, very tempting but the price is still pretty steep.

This version actually has much better frame rate and non screen tearing unlike the previous versions plus the texture detail looks worlds better.

Only con was the graphics and it got 8.6. I haven't played a Zelda game that was below a 9 in my life. Think this holds up well and even though they didn't put as much into the graphics as Wind Waker's update, I think it still looks amazing.
I was thinking the same about the windwaker hd update but I think cell shaded games are a lot easier to transfer to hd

Does seem a slightly lower score for a few missing shadows. I think in a recent voice chat Jose questioned the need for a remake of this game at the time. It looks like that feeling is reflected in the score. There is no consistency in the reviews, like others have said, how can the latest COD receive a higher score for such a dire game?

Do not get me wrong, I thoroughly enjoy Twilight Princess but after seeing the updates done to Ocarina of Time, Wind Waker, and Majora's Mask this seems very lazy. I was actually suprised Jose cited issues with the graphical "clean-ups" considering he defends Nintendo games often on Voice Chat. I just feel like Nintendo gets away with putting out inferior games because of the nostalgic reputation they have built. It's why they can put an interation of "New Super Mario Bros." on every single one of their consoles. Why does this keep happening? I would like to see Nintendo take more chances and stop cashing in on jaded icons.
You know why is different, because Nintendo didn't do the remaster, it was produced by other studios.

As a HD port, I think an 8.6 is fair enough. They didn't do much aside from update a few textures and up-scale to 1080p, not as drastic an update as Wind Waker HD, which almost looks completely different.

You should definitely get a backwards compatible Wii, or a GameCube, or both! Amazing consoles that don't really get the credit they deserve.
I can list so many awesome games on the GameCube alone... F-Zero GX, Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, Four Swords Adventures, Mario Party's always good, Double Dash, Metroid Prime 1 & 2, Super Mario Sunshine, Resident Evil remakes, Resident Evil 4, Pikman 1 & 2... the list goes on!

Zelda Twilight Princess was perfect on GameCube and pretty good on Wii. But it's even better on Wii U. IGN scores don't mean anything at all to me but I like hearing other people's opinions. Anyways, this is the very last time that we will ever see the one true Link...the lefty Link.

WiiU only has two Zelda Remakes from said gamecube, No Starfox, No Metroid....
And Nintendo has board meetings on figuring out why the WiiU is selling so poorly compared to it's older systems....

+bungi fish Wind Waker HD had a lot more time and effort put into it. TP HD just looks better. They should have given it the Wind Waker HD treatment and actually messed with some of the character models and improved the shading and lighting everywhere.
+bungi fish The upgrade in its graphics werent as significant. Windwaker had higher poly models, an upgraded lightinig engine, remodeled some areas entirely, higher res textures, etc. This remakes only really big change are the textures.
