French guy here. I was ready to give some hint on how to pronounce "Cannes" but I have to admit that your mother did a good job. Maybe the sound of "a" is a bit to long though... also you are not forced to yell it like she did and, finally, her face seems familiar ; did she played Kirk in Star Trek ? 💣
Seth didn't say his mother, Hilary, is speaking in this clip; only she'd pronounce the city's name in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region as such. But the 'ah' is a bit too long in this clip. There are others, which are shorter and more accurate, but with less comedic fair.
@@makiburgess5733 Indeed. Guy is also a forename, an old-fashioned one, shared by one of the main characters of Galaxy Quest (best Star Trek movie ever), and it's the french word for mistletoe. Coincidence ? I don't think so.

Looking more closely at the hat tonight, I was reminded of something from my childhood. There was this one time-literally one time-when instead of Halls or some generic, we had Sucrets cough drops. These come in a little metal container, a hinge-lidded tin, and I probably assumed as a kid that these were ten times more expensive than Halls because of this. (Maybe they were.) The tin stayed around, of course, a souvenir of an extravagant purchase, and the modification I made to it was called back to memory by the hat. It just so happens that the changed letters ("a" and "z") on the hat already exist in other places, so mocking it up is simply a matter of copying and moving the letters. Because there was already a letter "E" on the Sucrets tin, I was able to make quick work of copying it onto paper, cutting it out, and turning a cough drop tin into a pocket-sized receptacle for Secrets.
Sucrets are exactly what I am ransacking the drawers in search of! I sat down for a moment to sip tea because I couldn’t find said Sucrets for my throat and happened to read and enjoy your comment!
You just reminded me that I buried a Sucrets tin in the backyard of my childhood home with some secrets in it. I can’t remember what I put in there besides some folded up magazine clippings. I also recently visited that home and they had leveled out the backyard so if it wasn’t dug up it was buried even deeper.
There was a distinct and laudable improvement in that Werner Herzog voice - I trust I will not need to make such a correction again. KUDOS! Also, "Klaus Kinski's Fitz-Caramel-Dos" is just a banger of a line and prop. DOUBLE KUDOS!
Correction: the first year of a dog's life is 15 human years, dog year 2 is 9 human years, then its 5 human years for each dog year thereafter. Not just straight 7-to-1.
I’m not sure my Irish Wolfhounds got the memo. They are very immature, rambunctious 26 year olds. One cries when the other steals her bone/toy the other actually stamps his feet if I’m not paying attention to him. Oh wait, my human adult children are the same. 🤔
@@MS-dh9gh Depends on the size of the dog and it's not really 5 for every year after 2. Up to 16 years old the following is how it is estimated: For small dogs under 20 pounds it's 15 , 9, then 4 from then on. For medium 21-50 pound dogs it's 15, 9, 4, 4, 4, 6, 5, 4, and goes on 5, 4, from then on. For 51-100 pound dogs it's 15, 9, 4, 4, 4, 9, 5, 5, 6, 5, 6, 5, 5, 6, 5, 6. For 100 pounds or more sized doges it's 12, 10, 9, 7, 7, 4, 7, 8, 7, 8, and then 7 from then on.
I dont know what annoys me more. That this is true. Or that i never knew it. Either way. My dog is 4 and his breed gets 21 years for a good run. But i guess if you put a bunch of unconventional math in the way. Its easier to not focus on the fact your dog will die soon
Did it say “SNORE” on the back of his card at the end? 🤣🤣🤣 I JUST LOVE THIS WHOLE EXPERIENCE, from Seth and the crew to all the jackals’ comments (especially the corrections on corrections!!! I so very much agree with the previous correction about “CDs”! No damn possessive apostrophe! Haha!) I love it here. It’s getting greater and greater entertaining.
I know it's been said before but I'd like to state how the corrections with only the crew listening in on the background instead of an audience makes it much more personal and intimate and I really appreciate that.
And also the only audience if we're not counting crew is the digital audience, so his criticism of digital-only shows keeping audiences prisoners is inaccurate. Just saying.
I love corrections so much and I think the reason it gets better and better is the subtle nuances and layer upon layer of jokes. The long you watch the better it gets and when you’ve watched since the beginning it’s just comedy gold. It’s a relaxed version of Seth and the crew that I love. Where would one send fan art if one were to make some?
If anyone is an oldie of YT past, you may know of the channel called Cracked. At the time, it had two fantastic "shows" called After Hours and another called Obsessive Pop Culture Disorder with Daniel O'Brien. The latter, was hosted and written by a current writer on John Oliver's team. Having watched Daniel O'Brien content, I can GARANTEE you that he's the one that wrote that Air Bud bit. It had ALL of his signature flags all over that clip. If you liked that Air Bud bit, I HIGHLY suggest you go check out his catalog of episodes. Its all grade SS primo stuff ^^. Additionally, After Hours was also AN AMAZING show. Also highly recommended
Re: Less vs Fewer - the simple way to remember it is to ask can you count the thing? If yes then it's fewer, if no (e.g. you weigh/measure it instead) then it's less. And just to stand up for the graphics team, they clearly understood that you wanted to exemplify the GOP's reaction to mass shooting, which is to make it "sound" like you want to do something, but don't. Using a sponge attached in a static way would allow some cleaning to be performed. The graphics team way however will just wave around uselessly (see Ted Cruz, Margerine Traitor-Greed, Gozard et al).
Another easy way of figuring out which one is the correct one to use is to "invert" the meaning of the phrase and use an _increasing_ determiner (i.e. "much" or "many") and add the word "more" right after, since it's a lot more intuitive to figure the correct one between those 2. If the "inverted" phrase uses "many", then the proper adjective for the original phrase would be "fewer"; is it uses "much", then it's "less": - "That building has _many more_ doors than Ted Cruz thinks it should" >> "That building has _fewer_ doors than Ted Cruz thinks it should" (that last one is only true when he needs to run away from a reporter's softball question, though) - "Ted Cruz received _much more_ money from the NRA than Greg Abbott" >> "Ted Cruz received _less_ money from the NRA than Greg Abbott" (but they both give craven ghouls an equally bad name)
@@cobrasys Many bravos and much applause for your examples! 😁 (But I think I'll stick with counting or measuring. I'm a bear of very little brain and inverting then reverting sounds a bit complex for my head stuffing. 😉
Having rewatched the entire series recently, I was surprised to find that my favorite entry was actually one of the later sequels, 2008's 'Air Will Be Bud'.

Actually, Where's Waldo in Sweden is more commonly known as ”Var är Valle?” (pronounced var (like ”bar” with a v) air vah-leh). However, some iterations include ”Hitta Hugo!” (meaning ”Find Hugo!”) and ”Var är Waldo?”.
This sent me down a rabbit hole because I've only ever seen "Hitta Hugo!". I couldn't find a great source but going by the publishing dates in on the books in the swedish royal library catalogue it seems to shake down something like this: The first two books were originally translated to "Var är Valle?" in the 80s In the 90s they switched to "Hitta Hugo!". Which is clearly a less direct translation, but I guess they just wanted the title to be more of an instruction ("Hitta") and keep the alliteration. Then in the 00s they seem to mostly just give up on making new translations altogether and just published the english titles or previous translations. It's a picture book after all. And finally in the last decade they're back to "Var är Valle?"
@@havcola6983 That’s cool, I didn’t know! I think I’ve encountered mostly Hitta Hugo and Var är Valle (if any), so that makes sense, being born in the early 90’s. Regardless, it’s all better than Seth’s ”Where is Hugo?” with a German accent, he needed to be corrected!
@@grittybunny Hugo might be a tricky one! They key difference is that we don’t pronounce the ”U” as ”ew” (or ”you”) in any word. The U in Hugo is closer to the one in Pluto, for instance. Something like huu-goh. It’s quite hard to replicate I think, but that should be close enough!

Former reporter/editor here: I suppose whether you can put an apostrophe in a plural initialism/acronym must depend on the style guide. If you adhere to AP style, apostrophes are used with single-letter plurals (“Oakland A’s”) but not with multiple-letter plurals (“CDs”); however, the apostrophe was acceptable in this case as a differentiator so as not to confuse people with a potential “CDS” initialism (like “CDC”). Comprehension comes before style rules.
True. Besides, iirc every word was in all-caps on that board, in which case I believe you _have_ to use the apostrophe to make sure the plural is clearly understandable.
I think you're wrong. All punctuation has a purpose and the purpose is always to add clarity. In the case of CDs literally nobody could misunderstand that it means more than one CD. "CD's" on the other hand is wrong because it introduces the idea of possession which isn't the case in this context. The CD's scratches is valid. The CDs' scratches is valid. I put the CD's on the desk is objectively wrong. Oakland A's is potentially different as the word As exists but it should be 'A's not A's as it's inverted commas and not apostrophes needed.
@@benpetersjones I’m confident I’m correct, and double-checked my AP stylebook to be sure before I originally posted. Like I said: Comprehension comes before style rules. So the rules for punctuation - which isn’t only for clarity, but can be deployed for many purposes - can be broken to aid comprehension. That’s where CD’S comes in (specifically when it’s in all caps). People know what CDs means but it makes it unnecessarily difficult to put CDS in all caps and make people parse the context. I typically just rework to make it unnecessary bc it makes my eye twitch. As far as the A’s go, they fit into the single-letter category so it’s letter+’s, like in “mind your p’s and q’s.”
@@StephanieAly p's and q's is also wrong because there no such word as Ps or Qs. The idea that capitalisation changes the function of punctuation is stupid. If someone makes a style choice to write in all caps then it's always better to drop the caps or use subscript or even 'CD'S and still be correct. Why pick an apostrophe in that case? Why not CD#S or CD;S? An apostrophe has exactly the same connection to plurals as any other glyph except that an apostrophe followed by an s already has a function which makes CD's even dumber.
Seth, "Oh, this is cool: the dog, whose name was actually 'Air Buddy', was in SEVEN of the movies, before he passed away?! ope... I read that in dog movies... he was only in one." Funny stuff. I love to see an 'ope' here and there. Seth's shews his Michigan roots with the 'ope'.

I’ve actually come to enjoy more this style of comedy bc of Seth. As in, less performative than is usually found everywhere else. When I come here to watch, it’s always like a fellow neighbor down the street talking to me and cracking dry jokes about everyone else. 🧐👏🏽😄
A heads up for Seth & the crew: Corrections is appearing outside the Late Night enclave. I found a fellow jackal wandering around over on Beau of the Fifth Column’s marvelous channel, attempting to provide a Corrections entry. Gave ‘em some solidarity (it was a solid correction!). You’ve unleashed a jackal revolution!
🐾
👍 I just came from there myself. We are everywhere. Everywhere that counts.
Haven’t seen you there, but I’ve spotted a couple of others.
Beau rocks
Oh hell, are we becoming JAnon?
French guy here.
I was ready to give some hint on how to pronounce "Cannes" but I have to admit that your mother did a good job.
Maybe the sound of "a" is a bit to long though... also you are not forced to yell it like she did and, finally, her face seems familiar ; did she played Kirk in Star Trek ? 💣
Right, she really looks like a character Shatner played… lol
Seth didn't say his mother, Hilary, is speaking in this clip; only she'd pronounce the city's name in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region as such. But the 'ah' is a bit too long in this clip. There are others, which are shorter and more accurate, but with less comedic fair.
@@milesgillespie6665 Ok. You'll have my reply in a few days in a segment called "French correction". 🤪
And guy in French is pronounced “ghee,” like the Indian ingredient.
@@makiburgess5733 Indeed. Guy is also a forename, an old-fashioned one, shared by one of the main characters of Galaxy Quest (best Star Trek movie ever), and it's the french word for mistletoe. Coincidence ? I don't think so.
Seth is just on fire right now. I admit I am late to the party but he lured me in just before COVID broke. Seeing him work from home helped me through a really tough time and I think I can speak for a lot of us when I say he made me feel less lonely in isolation. I am so thankful for Seth and his whole staff and crew.
The graphics department's version of a sponge on a stick is as effective as politicians are about gun control, so I think they did a good job.
Yes! And I was going to point out, a sponge on a stick is called a mop. The old mops from the 80’s. So yeah, perfect analogy for or government.
I originally questioned it, yet I agree especially as the sponge is brand new so has never done any actual or meaningful work... exactly like politicians. Throw on a publicly funded overpriced suit and you got the image of importance with no actual work required... and perhaps talk about the evils of the overabundance of doors in our country.
@@Valerie-mz4et they still make them, but yes the kids only know of swiffer...

Seth complaining about a fifteen minute video that was posted as a web exclusive is hilarious. The self-referential humor is always fun.
P.S. Love to see Kimmel got the soup.
It is fun, but he should direct it somewhere different than time. It gets fewer and fewer entertaining to hear the same joke in different versions. Still love the corrections tho xd
Omg thanks for mentioning Kimmel, I was a little lost. You reminded me of the whole plot.
Gotta love corrections!

When Doyle died 'the queen' was not yet queen, she was 4 years old and it would have been George V to reclaim the title from Dead-Doyle.
DEAD-DOYLE RULES!
That is some deep jackaling right there
Before he became Dead Doyle, Sir Arthur received a letter from a Russian lady who (instead of Dear Sir) addressed him as "Good Lord!"
Well, depending on your beliefs about the afterlife, it would seem to be significantly more convenient for Dead-Doyle to be un-knighted by Dead-George than by Live-Lizzy!
Did anyone else catch the sign Wally “Two Trees” is holding in the photo? “SETH SUCKS” 😂😂😂
Sure did! I was surprised Seth didn't comment on it.
Did you see where Seth put his finger when pointing to Wally "Two Trees" on the photo? Made it look like Wally had a 😉 third tree! LOL
I was surprised Seth didn't mention it as well!
Thank you for saying so! I was thrilled and shocked my picture was used. Thought for sure there would be a "jackal" comment
Corrections is a high point of my week. It’s so silly and beautiful.
Correction: CD is an initialism not an acronym. (Acronyms form a word like PIN, initialisms you say each letter like ATM.)
It was an acronym until someone made up the word initialism, which is not a word my swype keyboard knows.
You are displaying some next level jackaling. Thanks.

You Seth, Wally, and your incredible crew of Corrections are just the highlight of the week! Each week is better than the last, which doesn’t seem possible, yet here we are! Thank you!!
I can't believe Seth literally kept that joke under his hat for the whole segment. Bravo.
I actually came to the comments to find out what the nine of diamonds joke was referencing. Can you enlighten me?
Yeh, I didn’t get it either.
Many corrections ago he talked about meeting a magician at a party maybe who started a trick but only got halfway through-if I’m remembering it right- and he’s been finding the card on a few occasions since then
Gotta keep up with the 'Corrections' lore!
Chris? Angel in a March corrections, saw people discussing it in another comment here
Looking more closely at the hat tonight, I was reminded of something from my childhood. There was this one time-literally one time-when instead of Halls or some generic, we had Sucrets cough drops. These come in a little metal container, a hinge-lidded tin, and I probably assumed as a kid that these were ten times more expensive than Halls because of this. (Maybe they were.)
The tin stayed around, of course, a souvenir of an extravagant purchase, and the modification I made to it was called back to memory by the hat.
That is a sweet memory.
Memories are so lovely to have. ty. v
I love stuff like this. Did you ever do that thing with the land o lakes butter box, before they took the kneeling maiden off the box?
There was a distinct and laudable improvement in that Werner Herzog voice - I trust I will not need to make such a correction again. KUDOS!
Also, "Klaus Kinski's Fitz-Caramel-Dos" is just a banger of a line and prop. DOUBLE KUDOS!

Correction: the first year of a dog's life is 15 human years, dog year 2 is 9 human years, then its 5 human years for each dog year thereafter. Not just straight 7-to-1.
What!? That is WILD
I’m not sure my Irish Wolfhounds got the memo. They are very immature, rambunctious 26 year olds. One cries when the other steals her bone/toy the other actually stamps his feet if I’m not paying attention to him. Oh wait, my human adult children are the same. 🤔
Doesn't it depend on the breed?
Yeah, I have to disagree with the "English major" as well. CD's and CDs have two meanings. CDs is correct.
I look forward to Corrections every week - it never gets old, and it really caps the excellent shows Mon - Thurs...
the "less and less, fewer and fewer " gag is so very much appreciated man...nice work!
Pandemic Seth Meyers got me through the lockdown period and this is an extension of that. Love it
After this horrific week, this was needed more than usual. Thank you, Seth and crew, for Corrections.
This show is getting funnier and funnier!!!! Thanks Seth and Team. Keep up the fantastic work!
I like how he made this episode 15 minutes long
I love corrections so much and I think the reason it gets better and better is the subtle nuances and layer upon layer of jokes. The long you watch the better it gets and when you’ve watched since the beginning it’s just comedy gold. It’s a relaxed version of Seth and the crew that I love. Where would one send fan art if one were to make some?

Jonny Olice's piece on Airpods was amazing
If the "inverted" phrase uses "many", then the proper adjective for the original phrase would be "fewer"; is it uses "much", then it's "less":
- "That building has _many more_ doors than Ted Cruz thinks it should" >> "That building has _fewer_ doors than Ted Cruz thinks it should" (that last one is only true when he needs to run away from a reporter's softball question, though)
- "Ted Cruz received _much more_ money from the NRA than Greg Abbott" >> "Ted Cruz received _less_ money from the NRA than Greg Abbott" (but they both give craven ghouls an equally bad name)

I honestly think the graphics version of the sponge on the stick is more in line with how congress tries to help. They take something that wouldn't be useful and somehow make it even less useful.

I couldn't find a great source but going by the publishing dates in on the books in the swedish royal library catalogue it seems to shake down something like this:
The first two books were originally translated to "Var är Valle?" in the 80s
In the 90s they switched to "Hitta Hugo!".

I literally spit my toothpaste out all over my mirror laughing last week during the Werner’s Original segment. So well done to you.

Hey Seth real quick, I was watching the corrections from September 20th, you know, cause I have a life, and you were talking about how Wally was born with a cue card that said “it’s a boy.” In the explanation of how you obtained said cue card, you mentioned that there is a ceremony in which the card is removed from the child, and I feel it necessary to say that that ceremony and process should be called a circuecision.

Hey Seth! I’m a long time fan! Just my opinion on ‘the cardboard in the hat’.
It is better to keep the cardboard in the hat when it’s brand new to stop your sweat from damaging and staining the brim lining.
When the cardboard falls out or deteriorates, it is done. It prolongs the hat life especially in summer.
