There's a tool that you can purchase at your local auto parts store that slides between the door panel and the window crank that will remove it for you. There's a small clip that holds the crank handle to the window regulator stud.
Thanks so much for posting this. Body shop replaced a side mirror for me but left the door light switch unplugged and hanging out below the door panel. This vid saved me a trip back up to the shop. Thanks again!
Great instructions. I've never taken a door to a modern car apart, and was pretty apprehensive that I might screw something up. After watching this, it was as if I knew what I was doing. Thanks for making this job easy.
Thank you for posting this video. It helped us out so much in removing the door panel so we could replace the speakers in my husbands truck. Would never have guessed it could be quite so easy!

I have a 2007 Silverado Classic that has had a rattle in the drivers side door since I got it. It was driving me crazy. thanks for posting a video on how to get the door panel off without damaging it!! (the electric motor for the window had a loose bolt) Thank you.
These guys are so helpful. I love your videos and have been watching them for years. Love the production, simple and straight forward. Thank you guys so much!
Just wanted to say thanks for posting this Mike. It helped me out a couple times now! If I ever need to order anything I'll certainly keep 1A Auto in mind. Thanks again, much appreciated!
We currently do not have an auto repair video that shows you how to do this. We'll keep this request in mind during any future repairs that we make to this particular vehicle.
This was so helpful, just replaced the driver door catch strap today on my 04 Silverado 1500, was easy as pie, getting that panel back on by yourself is a pain tho.
Good video, just not exactly for a 99 GMC Sierra SL. Cover plate removal is fine. However there are no bolts on the front. There's only one just forward of the door release. 8mm. You also need to pry out the door/window switch assembly and unplug it. Everything else is pretty much the same.
Great video but I would really expect you to use trim tools to do this instead of a screwdriver due to the fact trim tools don't damage paint they don't damage door panels. But thank you really for the video was helpful
hey mike, im replacing the door speakers in my 04 gmc sierra, do i have to take the entire door panel off? or can i just take the grilles off? and are the rear doors(crew cab) the exact same removal?
I have a 2001 Silverado 2500HD. My driver side interior door pull, trim piece around the electric window/door lock switch, and door lock need to be replaced. Can they be replaced individually, or do I have to replace the entire interior door panel?
Hi Andrew, You may want to pull the blower motor out of the housing to see if there's debris or anything in there making noise. I'm not sure it you can add a little bit of white lithium grease to the shaft. If you turn it by hand you may be able to hear the squeak. Hope this helps you out. 1aauto.com 866-403-3393
I need to replace my master switch panel on the drivers door side of my 2005 Chevy Tahoe but I didn't see a video for it. Do I need to remove the whole door panel because it seems like there is a screw holding the front of the panel, so that I can't just pop it up. It also looks like there's a white bracket that the backside of the panel pops down into but that white piece appears to be broken. Can that white bracket be replaced without replacing the whole door panel.
Great video. Just what I was looking for. On the driver's side my mirror adjustment rocker switch controls the mirrors and extending the mirrors. When I move the switch to the driver side position it stays but doesn't get a good enough connection to switch off the center mirror extender position. I have to press it down as if it's not getting a good connection otherwise the mirrors just extend. Can this be cleaned?
We currently do not have an auto repair video that shows this particular procedure. We'll keep this request in-mind in the event that we need to make this repair in the future. Have a great day! 1aauto
+tunercars3 Thank you for watching. At this time we do not offer the door panels, but we offer the window switches at www.1aauto.com/search?q=window+switch&year=2005&model=1719
+Diana Espinoza You might be able to remove the door panel. If you can remove it enough to reach inside, you might be able to pull the latch rod so that you can pop the door open. Hope this helps you out. If any of our viewers needs to repair their GMC Sierra 2500 here is a link to them parts that we carry for these vehicles goo.gl/JvyQn3
1A Auto Parts thanks, that's exactly what I was trying to do, took awhile, but I got it off. What is the name of the part where the door handle goes, that little spring that allows you to open/close the door handle properly? Need one.
+Diana Espinoza If the spring is part of the assembly we may not have one. We may carry a replacement door handle for your vehicle that includes the spring. Here is a link to our website if you would like to take a look. 1aauto.com
1A Auto Parts thanks for the response! I had to buy the entire door handle, as the smaller parts aren't sold apart. Got it fixed, thanks to watching this, thanks for the awesome video!
If you're making a DIY video how about using the proper interior trim tools? They're cheap, they don't wreck the plastic parts and they're the right way to do it. The plastic "pin" is usually referred to as a "christmas tree" and the "small size Torx" is T-15.

Worked great. My wife is impressed with the fact that she didn't have to take her truck to the shop to replace the catch strap. Thank you!
Nice work. Congratulations on the successful repair. 1aauto.com 866-403-3393

The fuse should stop the chime but the removal of the fuse would also keep the radio from coming on.

Great video, you've picked up a customer here...Thanks!
Thanks for checking us out. Have a great day!
Great instructions took my panel off 2day. Step by step exactly
Thank you very much. The door panel came off just like you said. I was done in 10 min.
If the grilles aren't popped into place or screwed in, then you may need to remove the door panel.
You guys do good work, thanks for "not" having music in the background.
Joseph M doorhandles on a silver Rado change the pants in the door handle is
Joseph M change depends in the door on a Silverado Chevrolet 2003
I wouldn't even object to the music other channels use (for the most part) except that it always seems to be at least +6dBm higher than the speech...
Thanks for posting, made the speaker change-out in my '05 Silverado totally painless!
very good vid. you just saved me a door panel. Glad I didn't just rip it off thanks again
Unfortunately I think the door chime is built into the system and can not be turned off because it goes through the radio.
@bigmanb326 we have a video on that, search for '1AAuto remove manual window handle'
You made it clear and easy to understand. Thank you

Thanks for the great video. My interior blower fan makes noise when i accelerate. can this be lubricated ??
