Sorry but the jeeps been there done that way before the hummer!! If it wasnt for the jeep, i dont think hummer would have never been born! Let that sink in your brain for a sec!
I remember these sitting shiny and new in the driveways of people who wanted such a vehicle for psychological reasons. The Hummer and SUV are built for rough terrain but sold to soccer moms and guys with small appendages.
That was mainly the H2 and H3. The H1's that did make it to the fakes never stayed long due to it's size/lack of power and noise. The Soccer Moms went for the Grand Cherokee instead. Too bad as the Jeep was not bad if you looked past the stereotypical owners.
I wondered how long it would take someone to mention "appendages". It's like some people only of think of this all the time... this seems like a psychological issue.
@@JerkVegas86 He's saying that you're right but the military ones that have met their time in service would be sold just like all surplus military gear is to the civilian side
Hummer H1 is the best 4x4 to come from the 90's! It's a strong capable car and sadly automobile companys don't make 4x4s don't make vehicles tough as the Hummer H1.
@@TheHuskyGT The sequel sucked and then they made a 3rd. Any improvements made to the H1 were quickly overshadowed and forgotten in favor of a more mall friendly version.
I still want one of these. I do worry about how difficult it would be to change the inboard brakes on these though, considering it would likely need to be done often if you drive it often.
When you need a vehicle can go through just about anything. Protesters, mountains, dirt, mud, or a crowded city thoroughfare the Hummer H1 is the car for you.
I hadn't seen one of these in decades until last week. I was perplexed on how... small these look now compared to those soccer mom front-wheel-drive modern so-called "SUV's." They are still ridiculously wide though. I think only a Ford Raptor is as as wide as an H1.
Yep, 100%, I have a humvee and its about the same length as my 1st gen colorado. You'll be incredibly surprise on how good the humvee handles as well since its mid engine
I remember seeing a hummer ad as a kid from 1992 where in one clip it showed a hummer going through water, then the last clip showed the hummer going into a tunnel then it fades to black, and the narrator says, Hummer, the legend grows. What would you think if they added a clip in the middle of the ad showing a hummer at a drive thru then the next scene faded to a person eating her burger while driving her hummer (just to add dramatics and a break from the off road clips)?
@blackandgold51 first off, again, not talking about the transmission. The whole thing sounds like its falling apart when you go over 55 mph in a military Humvee. Second, 55mph is not the top speed of a military Humvee, i know this because ive driven them as contact trucks going well over 55mph. So again, neither of you understood my comment.
@Saint Fifty One lmao no, no he doesnt know what hes talking about. Military Humvees also come in 4 speed automatics, with over 70mph being the top speed for NON UPARMORED humvees, hence why i said CONTACT TRUCK, a variant of the humvee used as a tool truck for mechanics in the field. Its weird, i know 🤔
There was a college girl in the Seattle area (featured on the local news around 1994) who drove a 1994 Hummer as a daily driver... and she drove barefoot! And spent most of her time barefoot when not driving!
Depends on the trail, my Wrangler that was locked could climb like a mountain goat but I would've loved runflats and a central tire inflation system lol.
Legit question for people who do a lot of off-roading in vehicles like the H1 and Wrangler, because I have no real-world experience with it, and I know you folks are watching this video. Why do you guys seem to hesitate on locking the diffs when doing this level of off-roading? I noticed in the video even, as the Hummer was going over some 3 or 2 wheeling situations, the wheel in the air would spin a little before gaining traction and keeping momentum. Wouldn't this have been avoided had he locked the diffs from the start? Maybe I just don't know something, help me out here!
@@herbiehusker1889 Maybe a junker that needs some massive restoration work, but the nice ones are going for $50k or more! FJ40s are starting to become a collectors item. Plus, if I got one, I'd have to kick my 100-series Land Cruiser out of the garage...and that's not happening!

Don't care what any one says. The H1 was by far king of the 4x4s. The original two piece wheels were by far the most solid and reliable compared to the rubbish 1 piece that suffered many defects. My fav config is definitely the black/blue hard and soft top 4 door models.
Honestly still is, you really just need to know how to use BTM and you'll get through most things that most 4x4s can't get through, I also can't think of many 4x4s that can carry almost 2.5 tons while offroading either.
One of the reasons for that is in 2020 most creativity has been sucked dry. It’s called Post Modernism and it’s one of the nihilistic reasons our country is in such trouble.

Very solid and resistent of Hummer
Still annoyed the civilian model didn’t come with a rocket launcher like the military ones. That was one of my favorite features
If would certainly come in handy during rush hour traffic!

Or a Koopa shell launcher. Make any day Mario Kart.
Great fucking comment that would be handy 👍
Not a destructive one but atleast it could have compressed air powere boxing glove launchers to hit people without injury !
I still love a good hummer.

I'm amazed how this thing could move at all with such low power figures especially torque..shiza

It was fine in it's element. The streets were another story. They should have come with those slow moving vehicle triangles.

No need for a 0-60 run from MW in this clip, it doesn't go that fast!

A little misleading.
