- The college application process is an extremely stressful one. I hope this video helps you map out for the UC applications (UCLA, UC Berkeley, UCSD, UCI are the ones I applied to).

DISCLAIMER: Not a college admissions officer at any of these schools! & even perfect candidates can get rejected simply because of factors like luck, socioeconomic class, and a lot of other bs! I don't even know the exact reason I got in, but these are things I noticed from my peers/classmates at the UC schools!
This was one of my most requested videos and I wanted to talk about the UC application process and some general rules of thumbs. This was not a flex :( Also, I did NOT have perfect grades/gpa by anymeans..... soooo yea LOL I failed APUSH exam hahaha!
Always exceptions for people who have low test/grades and extreme circumstances -- use your essays to explain! Let me know if you have any other questions about college/uc berkeley! I will try my best to answer them via comments or IG DM!

Hi I have a question. Do you think I could make it into some UC’s?
I got all A’s freshmen year but they were prep classes. Then I started taking honors classes and wasn’t used to it. So I got a C+ I’m english and a B+ in math the first semester of sophomore year. I got all A’s second semester tho. Now I’m a junior taking 2 AP’s and 3 honors and getting all A’s but I’m so worried. Senior year I’m taking 3 AP’s and honors. I’m hoping it’ll seem like I’m improving. From going from prep, to honors with eh grades, to all A’s in honors, and then to all A’s in AP’s and honors. I am starting a new community for environmental awareness and I have many extra curriculars. And my like “theme” of curriculars and my career goals is helping people. So I’m hoping with my essay it’ll be enough to get into some UC’s
@@nicoleortiz130 Oh sweet, sounds pretty solid actually. Essays are super duper important so make sure you are able to express your thoughts and activities to the best of your ability on your essays and don't procrastinate PLEASE Also, make sure to have a good connection with teachers and have them know you better because it makes it easier to ask them for good recommendations for the different college apps and scholarship apps. I'm sure you'll do well in the application process and I wish you the best of luck! (Also, make sure that the major that you want to take is apparent in your extracurriculars, so if you want to major in biology or nursing it would be good if you volunteered at a local hospital)

if you have an option between ap calc AB or BC you wanna end up taking BC because although it's unofficial you basically have to do AP Calc BC in order to get in with any sort of engineering or cs major

Hi, so I was supposed to take a couple ap tests this year but due to the corona virus and stuff they did not sign me up. Is ap tests really a big part? My 9th and 10th grades were okay but not the best but I did end up increasing a lot and ended my junior year with 4.45. Is having a increase in gpa throughout the highschool years a plus by showing improvement

Not sure if you still reply to comments but I need help!! My freshman year was spectacular for me, with mostly As and a few B's . However, I had to transfer from a private school to a public school during my sophomore year. It was definitely a huge change for me and a whole new environment which I had to get used too. My gpa just for my sophomore year was a 3.2 (ish..?) . In currently a Jr and have straight As so far!! Do they still look at senior grades though and do they look at academic growth within the years in hs ?
Just make sure not to fail classes senior year, the college/university you decide to attend do ask for your final senior transcript at the end of the year. Good luck!
I screwed up my first half of sophomore year with a 2.1 gpa 😔. i made a promise to myself to challenge myself to get straight A’s from now to senior year. if i get get straight As with Honors and AP courses along with exceptional scores, do i stand a chance in getting into a UC school? UCLA and UCI are my dream schools.
honestly yeah, and u could make a great story about your change in mindset. just make sure u focus on things other than extracurriculars as well
colleges like to see growth and improvement, so yes you have a chance! you can state why you had bad grades on your PIQs but make sure to demonstrate how you’ve grown and improved

I think it'd be great to talk about how you've improved and what you found out about yourself through that process that made you be able to excel and find your passion :)

no! I think that's okay! As long as you are getting mostly A's and still challenging yourself with a few honors classes. I think it's way better to have a slightly easier course load and do better than do all AP classes and get straight C's.

I'm a junior now. Don't stress it I just started the majority of my main ecs and still am starting a new project or two. Try to turn your passions/hobbies into smthn productive but unique to you like a business, podcast, internship, blog, website, portfolio, volunteering.
Yup yup, I agree with Lyssa. I'm a senior rn and I just recently committed to Cornell University. woo woo! Make sure to do things you are passionate about and don't be afraid to go out of your comfort zone to go above and beyond. Also, make sure you are close with your teachers and they know you. This helps a ton when asking for teacher recommendation letters for the common app, uc app, and scholarship essays. My parents wanted me to go to community so I was about to but I'm glad I tried something new!
Gahhh I’m a senior in IB. Do you feel that IB has prepared you well for Berkeley?
I do! In terms of rigor, I think IB did prepare me. In terms of type of style, I wish Berkeley was more like my IB holistic liberal arts education style. Sadly, it's a little big too large to create that intimate experience, but you can still make one for yourself.

Freshman year 3.0 sophomore 1.57 jr 2.0 :/ smh I’m so stressed and mad because I’m going threw so much stuff I wanted to get a 3.0 or 4.0 gpa this year but I got a 2.0 so I’m in a hole but I’m studying and hope omg to get a very High sat and or act scores so I hope that helps what do u think?

what if our high school doesn’t offer ACT/ SAT test. I live in the UK and I don’t think we get offered these. In year 11 I got four 7’s (A), four 8’s (A*) and one 9 (A**)
UC Berkeley also takes IB test scores too! I think for international students there's other special tests you can take instead of ACT/SAT!

Aesthetic Army I’m also applying from the UK and I did the SAT with essay + am doing the subject tests after coronavirus - you can sign up on the collegeboard website and make an account, they have lots of dates that you can register to take the test at different centers around the country (hopefully this helps)

In all honesty, I didn’t do as great as I wanted to in high school. I was in the top 100 out of 600 students and my ACT scores weren’t that great. However, I did join a few clubs and did a lot of community service hours. I’m already going to a college in my hometown, but I plan on transferring to UC Berkeley later on in order to peruse my PhD in English. Do you think I still have a chance at transferring to UC Berkeley if I do really well in college, and get more involved? I hope you reply to my comment, I would appreciate it a lot. (:

The answer is a clear yes. There is not an answer, depends on all factors, ecs, gpa, sat, essays, but i will tell you c/d grades probably not, but take 6 aps junior year pass them all write a killer essay about your mindset change and youll have a damn good chance

this is the year your gpa will start to matter for the UC's! Even if you had a rough 9th grade, that's okay they don't look at 10th grade, grade's! Try your best to do well in your classes, get involved at school with a few clubs, and don't forget to not be so stressed out!

@@hazel6137 You are in borderline zone plus you have a downward trend but it is not the end of the world. Junior year is the most important and UC likes an upward trend. Focus on your killer essay. Yes, you can explain it in your college app. I know someone who got family issues with Junior year downward trend but was able to get in. You got this.
