Met a guy in Mexico who was driving one of those from Alaska to Argentina, for the second time! Great rig.
I am a vinyl wrap guy and that clear vinyl over the brushed is a brilliant idea I can't wait to do some projects with it looks sick

I could not figure out where I had seen that rig before. Then I watched. I work in the port of Tacoma and I drive past there every day sometimes twice a day.

The little Hilux that could! That's an astonishing amount of weight for a Hilux to lug around, testament to the Toyota Engineers. Try and put that much weight on a marginally engineered little modern ute and she'll break in a pretty short amount of time.. especially with the amount of weight that's well past the rear wheels.
Right? Its pretty gnarly. But youd be surprised this thing only weighs about 6500lbs! Crazy, right?
@@Down2Mob that's surprising since I thought the weight shedding was a recent trend. Maybe this rig is light because they weren't building for the luxury, campground experience and functional choices are always lighter than towed versions of home furniture.

I would love a small camper like this for a family of 4. Everything seems to be way to big and overbuilt.
SO MUCH LOVE IN THE YODERHOME😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂. It's funny to me because I don't have a daughter. I'm sure the rear bumper isn't the ONLY thing talking a Pounding. To bad there aren't more of these in the U.S.
I like your approach to 4x4 camper life. I don't have a 4x4 or a camper (but I have a bunk in my Prius V that is definitely a 'gateway drug'). A couple of questions I have that might be widespread: 1. Gas mileage? This is a broad topic. What kind of gas mileage do you guys actually get? What are the advantages/disadvantages to diesel trucks? How is gas mileage affected by camper shell type, add-ons on top, weight? What's the percentage of time spent at 30mph+ and slow speeds on the off road? 2. How reliable are used vehicles? It seems I could spent over $100k on a brand new Mercedes MacMansion on wheels, or $2000 on a creaky but maybe fixable 1990s veteran. 3. Is it all just you and your buddies out there? I'm not the kind of person who wants to drink beer and back slap or subject my girlfriend to it. (Not so much a judgement of others as an admission that I'm weird and noisy enough all on my own.) 4. What are the mistakes most people make? As in what are the things noobs think are must have that turn out to be, 'see! yah didn't need that at all'...'but you really need....' Thanks. Wait... one more: The Tesla Cyber Truck-- can you and your brain trust figure out what the Cyber Truck might be like with a pop-up camper, or if it seems just too constrained to fit anything good.... (I have this sort of day dream of driving up to Alaska, and having to spend a couple of days with an extension cord slowly charging it up...but overall having a great experience.)

I know its a camper, but 14 to 20 mpg for a 2.7 4 cylinder diesel? thats pretty terrible to be honest. My 5.7 Liter V8 Tundra isnt much worse
The Free Raven he said it is a 2.8 liter diesel and Stated it was 17-20 mpg. Actually this is Typical for a 1991 vintage Diesel on a Truck or MH Chassis.
But being non turbo naturally aspirated and a wind catching wall along with the gearing that's not bad,most of the 4 cyl gas yota rvs get the same or less mpg.
All about pushing that big wall of wind
