It really annoys me when they invent all of these excuses and reasons why they joined LIV. The only reason is money and for what it is worth, I get it. No need to be embarrassed. If someone is stupid enough to throw that much money at you for doing an easier job, I get why you would take it. Stop with all of the nonsense reasons, we are not daft.
The problem is all of the excuses that have been made! Just fess up and don't try to say it is for the good of the game, or be with family or to travel more. It is greed, pure and simple.
@@ericzellershow I am all for a free, open and capitalist society, with genuine competition. What LIV is to me, is not competition, it is simply paying as much money as possible to crush an institution that has grown the game, has been given millions to charity and local communities and has nurtured up and coming pros over decades. For the guys getting bought out to play LIV to sue or claim they should still get to play on the PGA Tour, after turning their back on them is really a new low. I used to be a PGA Apprentice, and I think this is the best thing for GOLF. The PGA was so stuck up with there monopoly, they had forgotten where they came from. The PGA was founded by hard working golf employees and not elitists. Today the people who run the PGA are a bunch of elitists.
Also, those who actually work at golf courses (grounds crew) around the country, are some of the worst paid in the country. PGA should offer some incentives or a union for those who make it all happen.
Good points. I use NASCAR as an analogy. They left the smaller tracks that helped build the sport to cookie cutter bigger tracks, and years later NASCAR has lost a tremendous amount of followers. The PGA has left many courses that helped them grow. Sure some have been affected by the ball going farther, but that could have been addressed years ago. Jack Nicklaus said as much years ago. I’m happy that LIV has come along.
@@daniellarsen889 A union is not necessary, required, or needed. That will make it even worse. They are hard working people, no doubt. Why should they get all the exposure, growth and top level competition to hone their skills and become Household names enabeling them to earn millions in advertising endorsements and then just walk away? I think they should be under contract. I like both leagues. However since I stream everything now, it is nice to watch LIV on youtube for free instead of having to subscribe to other services. I expect that will change in the future. but for now I think its kind of cool.
If they are successful, it will of course change. They will also need to generate far more money than the PGA as they are spending more. Just like football in the UK, they try to share the coverage between more entities whilst they keep their prices the same. In effect, they sell you less for the same price and in turn expect you to pay someone else more for what they have taken away.
Anyone who says that this league is ruining the Spirit of golf has not been out to a public golf course in the last couple years. I go on golf trips every year at a golf 2 to 3 times a week. It’s full of normal every day people who have speakers and are playing music, having a drink, and just having a good time. If that’s ruining Golf then I’m all for it.
The most amazing thing is that the PGA Tour has suddenly increased the prize money on offer for their tournaments. Another aspect is that Saudi money is also extensively involved in the English Premier League, and NOTHING is being said.
The Saudi Investment Fund is a majority part owner in a single football club in a league of 20 clubs....hardly ''extensively involved'' in the English Premier League...
2 clubs in the Premier League. That works out as 10%. Hard extensive is it. Also the League itself is not backed by saudi gov. Obviously PGA are going to increase their prizes, it's a defence mechanism.
The Saudis have stakes in Starbucks, Bank of America, Berkshire Hathaway, Qualcomm and Uber. So if anyone in the US or anywhere else, have supported any of those companies, you are directly involved, as much as the LIV golfers are!

LIV Tour was designed to coexist with the PGA Tour and other tours. But PGAT wanted to retain their monopoly. So they have done everything a monopoly can do to take down a competitor. But monopolies are full of bureaucrats and they can't compete with new AND BETTER ideas and they can't compete with proven champions and savvy businessmen like Norman and Phil Mickelson. The better product will prevail and LIV is the better product.
How is LIV golf a better product? Be specific. It is a watered down product with fading has been stars, who get paid just to show up and play a tournament that is run like a corporate golf outing. We all know you just think LIV Golf is a good idea because your a Trumptard and as such what him to get back at the "disloyal" PGA Tour.
It wasn't about retaining a monopoly. The PGA Tour is protecting their sponsors who have invested in them and the players. No one is mad at them leaving. Players on the PGA Tour have said as much. What they are mad at is these LIV players wanting to come back and play the PGA Tour whenever they feel like it. You can't have it both ways. The LIV players made their bed now go sleep in it.
@@rgetso well unfortunately for you it's probably not going to happen. You see the PGA Tours' bylaws state no release for any north America tournaments. It also states only 3 releases per year. So go play the LIV tour all you want, but don't bother coming back here, you're not welcome. It's plain and simple. By Bryson, have fun with your exhibitions. The 4 majors are governed by their own respective associations. LIV is probably not going to get world ranking points, because their events are 54 holes. Correct - had PGA even been willing to let the players own their own likenesses (for EA Sports etc) - but oh no; they had to control it all - including paying bureaucracy great salaries etc (while 'pro's' who were at the bottom of that years performance were earning peanuts despite being part of the 'entertainment'). Players want more financial security - more flexibility in terms of number of games paid - and didn't want to have to kiss the 'ring' and say thank you to the overlords every time they were given permission to go take a pee.
The PGA Tour does over $1 billion in annual revenue and makes over $200 million in profit and their executive board members each make over $1 million/year in base salary, yet the PGA Tour uses a loophole in the US tax code that allows them to declare non-profit status, and pay no taxes.
It's all about the money. End of story. End of argument. End of these interviews on "why did you join the LIV Tour?" It's real simple. PGA and LIV in current form should never be brought together. There is a lot of difference between them. The fundamentals in PGA are strong. They have training programme for boys and girls, they have junior championships for boys and girls. There is a selection procedure to join PGA tours. They are associated with USGA and R&A, with OWGR. The LIV does not have any of them. They just buy players from the market, similar to Slave Trade. It is always welcome to get new ideas. LIV should have consulted with USGA, R%A, and OWGR before they launched a 54 hole system with players bought from the market. They should have started Ladies tournament, juniors tournament. There should have been training schools for boys and girls. Money doesn't buy these things. The only one that would thinks Tucker did a good interview here doesn't know $hit about golf, just like Tucker. BTW... Bryson is the kind who is his own best friend, because no one else likes him.
Bryson has been a lightning rod since his early days. From how he swings, to the clubs he helps design and the way he plays the game, anyone surprised by his decision to step away from the antiquated thinking of the PGA has not been paying attention. If the PGA is really what it thinks it is...the holder of the sacred cup, they would not need to threaten, retaliate or even respond to models like LIV and the others that will surface. Golf is an amazing game and deserves to grow into the forms that engage the most people. Despite it's growth, the fact that the PGA has held the sport hostage for so long is unfortunate. Golf cannot be compared to other mega pro sports like baseball or basketball. The economics and logistics make that impossible. However, it can be compared to other professional sports. Imagine if motor sports had followed a similar path where all professional races were controlled by a single group. The players making these decisions are doing the right thing for themselves and the rest of us duffers around the world.
It shouldn't be surprising that anyone would go and get all of that money, I'm not sure how much his signing bonus but I'm guessing it's 100 million or more
I don’t like when they make the excuse about PGA tour not having guaranteed money… it’s golf… you compete and earn your money. If you get last, you don’t deserve money.
You’re wrong. The pga makes billions off the player’s. Advertising them. If the player earns his pro card he deserve a payment for every tournament he inters (base salary).
I’ve played golf (not well) my entire life, in my fifties now. That said, I’ll still watch PGA tour events and LIV events. You play the course, not those that are in the same tournament. You’re trying to beat the course and possibly shoot the lowest score to win. I see nothing wrong with there being the PGA and LIV events.
Your read on this is off base. This isn't about playing the course, it's playing the money. These guys dreamed of playing on the PGA tour. Now they dream of the money. Blood money.
Perfect question from Tucker. Golf - the PGA version - has always been a hallmark of pure capitalism, pure meritocracy. If you don't literally "make the cut" the first two rounds, you go home actually losing money (you have to pay expenses for you and your caddie, including his salary). You only get a paycheck (and the resultant sponsors, hopefully) if you play well. Now the LIV is changing that. It's basically turned a boxing "prizefight" into a salaried UFC, with players following the orders of their bosses. Kudos to Tiger for apparently turning down about $730 M.
$730M was too low. If Tiger was CEO of LIV, then they would have a broadcast partner in a few weeks, more fans. People would show up just to see Tiger at the event and possibly tee off.
Wrong. Sponsorships already turned PGA golf into a "boxing prize fight". Except players just wear advertisements on their clothes for guaranteed money...including the opportunity to sit on their butts and play when they feel like it. The LIV Golf format has a team aspect where the up and coming stars are placed on teams with veterans. The veterans continue to play hard throughout the whole tournament to help their teammates get money for their families. LIV golfers don't get to sit out of tournaments. Their best 48 play every tournament and the shotgun start essentially adds pressure to every shot because the leaders can't really play it safe....and they all play the same weather conditions. If the top 48 golfers in the world played at LIV, then we would basically get to see a major championship for every event. Instead we get the PGA Maxi Pad Memorial where the top 20th golfer is the strongest in the field. Get real.
I think Tiger has been paid handsomely, like a few million extra per appearances in Dubai and other places on his personal global golf journeys. If he was 28 or 30 and healthy, he would have gone in a minute. This is not what it appears to be, similar to just about anything that we've seen since March 2020. Tiger can barely make it around the course these days, he is not going to fight against those who've helped him become the biggest name in Golf.
@@PowersFamily2011 Thank you. They also don’t talk about the time it actually takes to actual play tour golf. You barely get time to see your family. You barely get rest. Who cares how many events you play if you have the right amount of points? The people at the top making the money. People bring up Tiger as if he wasn’t the first sporting billionaire and isn’t one now. Over 90 percent of his money was made off the course. Also conveniently people forget about “The Match” thats way more like a prize fight being 1v1 and on pay per view
Only woke and jackasses can ruin the integrity of Golf like it has done on other sports. Golf doesn't need people to grow the game, it's been great for 150 years and is played in 150 countries and is one of the greatest games in all of sports for the young and old.

Bryson in the interview toad Tucker that he went to make his family financially secure and he said would you have turned down the offer I got which was say at least a hundred million dollars so now he is financially set. We must understand that Bryson's contract is for 4 years and if you break it you have to pay back five times what your bonus was so Bryson would have to pay back 500 million dollars to get out of live golf. Bryson is now starting his second year with Liv golf he has three more years to play in the league to obtain the entire 100 million dollars so he's going to remain positive about Liv golf until his contract is up or their league fails. The PGA has already changed the upcoming format. More players get paid and more money goes to the winners and top players. It’s still not at the level of LIV but they know it’s time to change. Personally I think the PGA will have to merge or accept the new LIV tour. Tiger only has a few years left and that is the biggest prize for anyone. Rory is good but not the draw of Tiger and as more young players go to LIV or even their version (I’m guessing that’s coming) of the “minor league” tour the pga will be begging for some sort of resolution. If the manufactures haven’t dropped the players who have gone to LIV and the players still get sponsor money what leverage does the pga have? TV rights? Nope. LIV is already looking at going to Australia and the pga never managed that so they better get some new leadership or they are doomed. In the end it’s good for the game to have new formats and more competition. Golf is a tough game to sell to kids and youngsters. It takes something special to take some kids away from tv or video games or even a pickup basketball game to go play for 4 hours or more and have to pay to play around rules and old school dress codes. Golf has to change things up!
Yes, I'm sure the PGA will have to start playing 3 round no-cut tournaments with less drama and less competition in order to 'compete'. BTW, no one seems to talk about the fact that LIV payed LIV players a huge bonus to join BECAUSE the PGA Tour threaten to ban them from their tour. If that hadn't happened, they would have just been playing for the tournament winnings. I'm all for LIV if they allow anyone to compete and get onboard. No way they will do that. They don't want talent, they want NAMES.
This all reminds me a lot of World Series Cricket back in the 70s. Those players were banned from international cricket. WSC introduced the limited overs or one-day format to cricket which was faster paced and, as the name implies, meant the game was over in 6 hours rather than 5 days. In the end it rejuvenated cricket and was incorporated into international cricket competition.
It’s not the same. The top cricketers at the time were struggling to make a living financially and some had second jobs. These golfers are mostly multi millionaires. . There are players on the pga tour who have never won anything but are multi millionaires.

More money and less hours. Who wouldn't jump ship for that. Think about every person who left a job for better money, benefits, hours, or quality of life. I've known people who took a job for less money just to have better quality of life. With LIV, they get it all including the money. A part of me asks where is their loyalty and partriotism. After all, LIV is backed by the Saudia Arabia government. They have been one of our allies in that region but can hardly be trusted. But if you look at the rules and the way the tournaments are structured with payouts, I think it would be hard for any player to turn it down. And if all the best players join the LIV, that's less competition for Tiger Woods and maybe he will win another few majors and eventually beat Jack Nicklaus' record. Doubtful, but possible. With Tiger's best golfing days behind him and his limited schedule, I'm surprised he didn't jump ship other than he is still chasing Jack's record on the PGA.
The players in liv are not the best. Besides dechambeu, there are no young players. Look at how these guys did in majors. They act like it’s not about the money, which irritates me. PGA looks a bit like the Masters excluding black players from the field back in the day... or Muirfield excluding female members. Not for the racial implications, but just in the retrospective perception of how close-minded, exclusive, and uncompromising they appear in the face of a changing landscape. It will be a blemish in time for the PGA.
What did they have before the PGA? Monopolies are illegal for one and everyone has a right to compete including organizations period. NFL and NBA weren't always just one organization.
Most LIV critics are hypocrites. They have no problems with NBAs heavy ties and investments with China, or with multiple arabic countries' investments in the english premier league. This is all about money, from all sides: the PGA, LIV and the players.

However, just as I feel about the teachers that complain (and they do have a union) about the lack of income - they choose that profession, they know the pay scale, and they DO have a choice.
Hmmm. So the PGA tour is for elitists and the LIV tour is good… sorry the LIV tour only want the elite golfers. Not sure I understand your argument

Why he joined liv? Money. Very simple.

He doesn’t care about fans, or golf. It’s simply about the money, “we did this for the money”
So what.
Why is he using his liv golf money to create a golf complex for young kids 🤔
LIV was the single best thing 2 ever happen 2 golf
Ever since LIV and PGA have been going at it, I instantly remember WWE vs WCW...and we saw how that turned out. I like the stir up it's put in the golf world as a consumer, and it will be fascinating to see if the same results occur from what happened to WCW.
WWE is nothing like PGA .... Wake up ...
@@johnb2905 I never said WWE is like the PGA lol. I gave an example involving them. …Pay attention…..
@@MrFergusonLawn Yes, but the PGA Tour is absolute in it's commitment to competition, and upping that competition. LIV is like the WWE, offering more 'entertainment' and a different format. There are so many things I dislike about LIV, but setting aside all others, just the fact that the leaders are not coming down the 18th hole, that they are all playing a scramble-like format--is totally stupid.
@@wreckim ok, but they have a ton of talent now. Regardless, they have a product with top talent and money. They aren’t going anywhere. If anything, temptation for upcoming players and current players for more money less work is gonna be there.
If we look at the “economics”. Bro just say your doing it for the cheddar
Tucker is on a roll. His head was spinning when Bryson was talking about the technical stuff he has worked on. Bryson is so cool and a great golf ambassador.
You would have thought by going to SMU Bryson dechambeau would have been able to give a good reason why he went to live golf. I am tired of hearing how long he hits the golf ball there are probably at least 10 members of the PGA who hit the ball as far as he does. Oh by the way since Bryson says he is so great how many Liv golf tournaments has she won how did he do in the Masters, l o u s e y. He was a big sensation when he was hitting it 330 yards off the tee John Rahm hits the ball that far now and has a better all-around game. Bryson you made your bed and now you're stuck in it for another 3 years you have to remain positive and speak positive about your league because you're under contract. This was a b******* interview. P. S h e a
Seing how professional athletes in other sports have guaranteed income through contracts, I understand why people want to play with LIV.
golf is different always has been. are tennis players paid contracts. nope.
If they are on tour, they are guaranteed income through sponsorships, how else was Phil Mickelson was able to lose $40 million gambling? I have no problem with people getting whatever they can, but at what point do they not sell their soul? His comparisons about the pizza shop, Tucker should have said "the new pizza shop didn't butcher people in my business though".
"I'm all about growth in the game of golf" .. I stopped after that line. Just man up and say you couldn't not take the money, nobody would care if they just say that. They're trying to make it seem like they're pioneers of some sort when they just took a pay most people would also take. Cheers Cryson.
He said later on that economically, it makes sense..no one going to liv has denied that
Well you shouldn’t have “stopped after that line.” Your take sucks, watch the video
This move is so Fox News 🤮
Golf has to change things up!
well said
Yes, I'm sure the PGA will have to start playing 3 round no-cut tournaments with less drama and less competition in order to 'compete'.
Rory and tiger don't belong in the same sentence, draw or talent.
All these complaints about the dirty Saudi money but isn’t taking that money from them and using it positively in America a good thing?
This all reminds me a lot of World Series Cricket back in the 70s. Those players were banned from international cricket. WSC introduced the limited overs or one-day format to cricket which was faster paced and, as the name implies, meant the game was over in 6 hours rather than 5 days. In the end it rejuvenated cricket and was incorporated into international cricket competition.
It’s the same exact thing your correct
It’s not the same. The top cricketers at the time were struggling to make a living financially and some had second jobs. These golfers are mostly multi millionaires. . There are players on the pga tour who have never won anything but are multi millionaires.
@@andrewgrimshaw5180 thats not many considering the amount of players are on the tour. PGA is very cutthroat
One day cricket was introduced at the professional level in 1963 in England. It was called the Gillette Cup.
@@nickhanlon9331 Ah, yes, I remember now, it was a while ago that I saw the documentary on World Series Cricket. Thanks for the correction. It did introduce the coloured clothes and day/night or floodlit cricket, right?
Wow Bryson!??!?!? That pizza analogy was pretty......how do i say this......Stupid.
Bryson explaining my swing. Thanks, It's hard for me to put it into words and he nailed it.
I disagree with this. I believe in every sport you want all the best employee in the same league. Golf has never been a team sport it’s always been an individual sport
I respectfully disagree as both High School and Collegiate golf is scored both as individual AND Team. LIV is the first attempt at professionals playing as individual and team outside of the Ryder Cup, President's Cup, and other such competition so the Team concept is not alien to pros.
Like the man said that 128 million from Saudi Arabia is why he's playing.
And you wouldn't?
@@grep67 Other, much better players than Bryson didn't, so why are you intimating everyone would. It's not as easy a decision as you're making it out to be. But, that's the problem these days, people feel they are entitled to comment even when they only have a rudimentary understanding of the subject matter.
@@jonburrows8602 , you think a lot of yourself, huh ? GFY
I fully agree with allowing the competition of LIV golf and detest this coordinated effort to take it down, but Bryson isn’t nearly as smart as he thinks he is.
Oh but he's a trend setter. All they care about is the money.....period!!!
Big fan of Bryson!
Live and let LIV!
After a couple of more seasons, this is going to be a force!
Let them qualify for Majors!
No it won’t lol
He is a fine young man and highly intelligent.
@@Malcolm.Y He's a jerk and a complete pseudo intellectual. That's why he didn't have many friends on the PGA Tour.
It's just the same crappy format of boring modern golf but with different backers. Who cares.
If anyone was offered the opportunity Bryson was offered you’d take it. With all that money from LIV he can do a lot of things he is passionate about. His TH-cam channel for example. Bryson is doing a lot for the game of golf, attracting a younger audience for one. He isn’t a sheep following the herd. Respect to Bryson.
MLB just dumped Topps from making baseball cards, that has more of a negative effect on sports than LIV ever will.
WHAT! Topps has been making cards for how long? Wow
What?!? No more Topps BB Crads?
Tucker represents the LGBTQ on Fox.
@@cats5351 🤦♂️ No he doesn't. You don't seem to know what "represent" means
Hmm. Well I’m glad my dad and I saved every topps card we had. Value must go up even more 🧐
I'm shocked that Tucker never asked one question regarding Saudi Arabia financing LIV
"A lot of opportunity..." (Opportunity, of course, meaning Cha CHING!)
So you work for free and don’t care about money
@@FP194
All I ask is that he's honest. He's not dreaming of the OPPORTUNITY of playing in freaking Saudi Arabia. It's obviously the money. Why can't he just say that? (it's probably part of his contract).
@@PaulSchober , how the phuck do you know what he thinks ? You pompous assholes act like he cheated on you. Get a life, Karen.
LIV golf is just not interesting. It's not competitive.
@Chip in4seven Plus the love of money is the root of all evil.
He needs to rethink his pizza analogy...the pizza employees leaving the old place are getting banned, not the customers. Also, who says the new pizza place is better just because it spends a ton of money. We’ll see how much money LIV actually makes. Seems like a bad investment for the Saudis...money to burn apparently. At least some of the money is going to Americans though
Yea that one didn’t land. PGA is not banning the fans…
Why are they also obsessed with growth? Our courses are crowded with amateurs and it's become almost unbearable to play.
Sounds good... only problem is if you watch LIV it's pretty boring. No cut... same guys every week. It's exhibition golf, NOT an open tournament. In the PGA events you have up to 200 pros competing on Thursday and Friday to get into the weekend part of the event. It's exciting to see them compete and every day is a different mindset.
pga tour is a crap, players on the lower end struggle while the tour has pocketed tens of billions over the years.
PGA Tour is the same guys every week thanks to exemptions, they play on mundane resort courses which means it ends up as a putting contest which IS boring.
@@dart1806 You have a good point and I agree they need a restructuring. However so far LIV is extremely boring. Maybe it will improve and I hope it does. But purely from a spectator's point of view (mine) PGA events are far more entertaining.
@@christopherfranklin972 There is no format where putting isn't a huge part of the game. Par allocates 36 strokes per round for putting so you can't get away from that. But a big part of putting is approach shots, sand and chipping. If you don't like putting then golf is not the sport for you.
@@JackRainfield You not only missed my point entirely but also make false attributions, where exactly do I say I hate putting?
You need to reply to what is actually written not what figures in your imagination.
I have played the GAME of golf for over 50 years so am fully acquainted with the number of strokes allocated to putting.
no golfer wants to watch the best play 3 rounds with no cut and nobody cares about the teams because teams only matter when its for country.
150 mill has nothing to do with it.
Does the PGA own the golfers? Were the golfers drafted into the PGA?
I don't care an iota anout golf, but the PGA seems to be making asses of themselves over this LIV issue. It is the old mentality of business, 'we won't adjust our model to compete, people love us as we are'.
Will the PGA become KMART to LIV's Walmart? The decision is only up to the fans.
They lie rather than saying it’s about money. They are no different than Lebron James supporting China. Just because the NBA supports corrupt governments doesn’t make it ok for these guys to do the same.
How do you do that???? Steroids' Tucker Steroids mostly.
Wow never knew nothing about this guy until now he’s amazing God bless him.
I learned about him in one of the last golf video games, he could make up some holes faster than I wanted.
Even if you don't agree with it, I think he brings up valid points. I agree with him that in the end there will be a blend and the tours will learn from each other and coexist.
Very well spoken Bryson!!! Congrats!
Very well crafted.
He’s so full of himself it’s hilarious, everything he said was planned and written for him, he’s not a good person and if you ever follow him in the course one day you’ll see what I mean. There’s a reason he’s the most hated man on the tour and if you really wanted the opinion of LIV you should of interviewed someone with credibility
like camero smith, he would say something like "money" right away lol
I mean it’s an interview of him, of course it will be all about him and his opinions, he’s a great player and gets a ton of hate, billy horchsel is way worse than bryson.
A very genuine interview .. thank you Bryson .
How they gonna ban golfers...its ridiculous!
It's their tour/company, they can do whatever they want.
How is it ridiculous? What other company would allow you to moonlight for a competitor?
PGA looks a bit like the Masters excluding black players from the field back in the day... or Muirfield excluding female members. Not for the racial implications, but just in the retrospective perception of how close-minded, exclusive, and uncompromising they appear in the face of a changing landscape. It will be a blemish in time for the PGA.
Well said, sir.
Agree
Actually you Fox News /Trump culties are the hypocrites. The Saudi royal family are much bigger killers than the average Chinese company. Both are wrong and you should criticise both, don't put your stupid Trump cult identity before basic principles.
C'mon meng... Mainland C. And S. Arabia didn't nothing wrong... They just have their own rules that people must obey.... 😂😂😂
Providing opportunity? It provides opportunities only for the select few that were offered huge amounts to play there in the first place! How is buying your entire field growing the game?
