Thyroid Tumors in Cats: Benign vs Malignant

In this video, Dr. Mark E. Peterson explains how we determine whether a cat's thyroid tumor is benign or malignant. An estimated 98% of thyroid tumors in cats are benign. Nuclear imaging is an important aspect of determining malignancy: if a tumor is determined to be malignant, we treat the cat with a much higher dose of radioiodine (up to 10X the normal dose).
