    ABOUT Dr. Katie Woodley - The Natural Pet Doctor
    =====
    Dr. Katie is a small animal integrative veterinarian who developed a passion for natural medicine while I was living in New Zealand. Her vet career was lucky enough to begin in the beautiful country of New Zealand. She was able to see how living off the land by growing our own vegetables and raising our own animals was the way to live the healthiest versions of ourselves. Her pets were lucky to have lots of open space to run around in and were always at the beach or the river.
    When they moved back to the States five years ago, her husband, unfortunately, developed an autoimmune disease. As they researched natural medicine options for him to avoid the horrible side effects of the treatment options his doctors were providing him, Dr. Katie realized that she was doing a disservice to her animal patients by not offering these holistic options to them. She began down the integrative medicine route and has never been happier. Through nutrition, acupuncture, herbal medicine, essential oils, and supplements, every animal can achieve optimal health or feel their best even when they have a chronic illness or disease like cancer. She currently has a certification in acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine and is continuously learning about the other natural modalities and growing her knowledge base every day!
    She started this business to provide pet parents with more resources for natural medicine advice and care because we need to increase awareness of how amazing natural medicine truly is! Dr. Katie's mission is to ensure that all pet parents have access to herbal medicine, supplementation, and nutritional advice throughout their pet's lifetime. One of her greatest joys is the opportunity to collaborate with both pet parents and other veterinary professionals to ensure access to all available integrative options for pet health care.

    i adopted a 6 year old dog last september , she was heavily overweight and shortly got a very bad ear infection, which until today is still present . I have been to 5 vets , did all kind of blood works, CT scan, steroids, antibiotics etc NOBODY could help. I've given up on Vets all they want is $$$$. As i said her ear infection is still there, not as bad as it was , but. I have changed food (home cooked 50% Meat 50% vegetables) Olive tree capsules , Lions mane , Multivitamins , Salmon oil , green lipped mussels, chia seeds etc. after watching a few videos on Hypothyroidism in Dogs, i think that's what this dog have ? I can't get those supplements here in the UK but i ordered some other Thyroids supplements, lets hope it will help/heal this dog . She is still overweight and sleeps most of the time .

    My cat had T4 levels of 25 and we decided to do the I131 treatment, I believe wholeheartedly in holistic health and am trying to learn more and more when it comes to pets. How would you support a cat after this treatment holistically if all she will eat is kibble? Getting her to keep her weight is priority 1 of course! I am giving her kidney support and liver support from petwellbeing as well.
    Thank you so much for sharing your insight with all of us pet parents 💖

      @@thenaturalpetdoctor Well the supplements and dosages were very helpful but also combined with your advice to not just blindly begin treating for the condition without the full panel of tests. You have a great speaking style and I picked up several very useful tips. Thanks again!

    Does the book ...The Canine Thyroid Epidemic: ...address hyperthyroid in dogs, our dog has just had a thyroid level test because he is not eating, and his level is the highest the Vet has seen. I ordered the book hope it has some answers on hyperthyroid, and hope it is not thyroid cancer that can spread.

    I-131 in cats does NOT "obliterate" the thyroid gland. It's only taken up by the tumor because the healthy thyroid is dormant. HypO is a potential problem if too much of the thyroid has been lost to the disease, but 131 is actually a very targeted treatment in cats.

    My dog has swollen lymph nodes. I got her blood taken they said she has an under active tyroid. My vet believes she has lymphoma but he doesn’t believe in putting your pet through chemo. I’ve been giving my dog a cayenne pepper poultice. With capsule of Reishi mushroom and dandelion root extract. Melatonin at night. Should I get a biopsy? Im super scared don’t want to give my dog thyro-tabs for the rest of her life. Please respond desperately need advice.

    The only things shown to have a strong correlation to formation of the tumor involved in almost all cases of feline hyperT are PBDEs and the chemicals used to replace them. There is no documented correlation between food and formation of the tumor, but there may be some connection to the uncommon, non-tumor, mild T4 spikes.

    My cat was diagnosed 1 week ago with hyperthyroidism, she's 16, she doesn't want to eat and lays around. Her behavior has completely changed. She doesn't like any of the food that I offer her that she's ate for years even people tuna or tuna juice, she eats about 1/8 of a licky stick What do I do? SOS PS I don't think she is responding to the typical meds I was given to administer. 2 pills a day.

      Transdermal Methimazole twice a day on the inside of their ears is a miracle worker for my 2 hyper-thyroid cats. I get it from a local compound pharmacy or chewy. Takes me a whole 3 seconds to apply with the clicker pen. Within 4 weeks my cats gained a lot of weight and normalized. Easy Peasy fix and only $12/month fr local compound pharmacy. Don't give the pills, use the transdermal on the inside of ears. So much easier and effective.

    Excuse me doctor I am using iodine on a tumor in my breast in five days the tumour has shrunk like 60 por cent...my thyroid is also better I had a little lump on my neck..could I give a drop of iodine in my cats food?

      If your cat has hyperthyroidism you should not give iodine. I use Lugols iodine which is transdermal only. I saw how 1 drop shrank a cyst that was was in my dog's ear for a year in a matter of days!

    Really should do separate videos about dogs and cats. The nature of the diseases is quite different, and your presentation doesn't distinguish between them well. You're creating a lot of confusion.
