I've learned a lot from your videos recently as a returning player. Great info and well presented. While its clear that you know an awful lot about darktide, its also clear that you don't know what "unironically" means
Force swords used to be better than Dueling sword in mobility as they were same as knife for dodging but had no cap on effective dodges. This was changed last year sadly so now Force swords are just good with fun utility but fall behind the dueling sword in general use.
I've tried to fit in Kinetic Resonance in a lot of my builds before, in particular with the Purge and Trauma staves because of how effectively it fills in the single-target ranged DPS deficiency of both of those weapons. I'm happy to see that it's finally starting to get some real love. Kinetic Resonance + Venting Shriek + Empowered Psionics was often considered too meme-y to ever see high tier play, but I still think it has some space in the meta when combined with a Rending Trauma staff. It's going to take more people running it and testing its limits before I think the community will start gravitating more and more towards Kinetic Resonance.
I think anyone who thinks that build is meme'y is trying too hard to be cool and likely hasn't really played it. If you're gonna take brain burst, that's the best way you do it, and it's very strong.
I’m actually glad you mentioned to disable screen effects. I actually gained RL peril playing with this staff in the past. Wish there was something to reduce the noise level but midnight mode seems to do the job for now.
I never realised 400 rating +3 stamina doesn't give 3 stamina... I've been using that for all 4 of my classes since I got them, time to find new ones :(
Two purge psykers makes Havoc 30+ easy mode. Two of our team members had only 40-50 hours in Darktide but make them purge staff psykers or flamethrower book zealots and it doesn't matter. Even the biggest difficulty becomes relatively trivial

Doesn't the 50% larger coherency synergise with the 5% cooldown reduction on elite kill? Or is it bugged/not worth it? I don't see quelling speed being that important personally
It does, also makes you more likely to be in range of veteran shouts and other auras. I think coherancy radius is generally a bit slept on, though quell speed does let you do more comfy sustained damage here when shriek is down.
Tanner you could show DOT damage demonstration a bit easier for people to see with the Mod that shows Debuffs/Dot Stacks numbers on enemies. You can stack 15 Soulblaze Stacks with the Staff at 80% Burn, using Venting Shreak pushes it to 21 Stacks.
No, only Psykers get the force Greatsword. Zealots got the Relic blade, which is a powersword and works very differently with different perks. Relic blad eis hands down the best powersword in the game. With a heat management of 16, you can get 6-8 powered swings
Do you have a recommended build for a second psyker at a havoc level of play? In auric damnation, it seems like you can just go Autogun Psyker, or bring a bubble shield with some other weapon. But in havoc, I don't think you would want to go Gun Psyker.
The visibility mod helps a lot and I'll be using that from now on. Is there anything that also gets rid of the wobbly visual effect on the entire screen when charging the staff? I've tried a couple other mods and none of them seem to cover this
Best purg staff I could find still has like 33% warp resistance at the end of the day but ive atleast got some wiggle room to play around with. Still very effective in terms of the build and I was able to find another one to slap penetrating flames on incase im running melee only. I spent like 3 million dockets and its the best I could do. I kept finding staffs with really low cloud radius but not warp resistance. You do need that quell speed and warp resistance sweet spot but I found what I could find and it works okay.
Build is fantastic, but I do have a question about the Moonlight Greatsword with this build-- in the previous video, it was mentioned that Warp Nexus could be swapped for Penetrating Flame if not using uncanny-- since My Guiding Moonlight (that I'm absolutely addicted to rn) doesn't have access to Uncanny, is it recommended to keep Warp Nexus or swap it for Pen Flames? And as a follow up on that, what would you recommend blessing-wise for the Greatsword provided its being used with this build in mind? Ty to anyone that answers in advance :3
I started with kinetic deflection and deflector, then I dumped it to use the duelist sword, and now I'm back to deflector force lol. There's something to be said to being able to double push bombs, open up shields with a simple push and being able to tank infinite enemies. I resurrected people I shouldn't have been able to thanks to that. Also the point you spend to get it is not useless, its a 5% critical hit chance and considering you even sacrifice maniac to get extra 5% crit on the staff, I can't understand why you don't even consider it
Hi Tanner, thanks for the video. But I have to disagree with the "in fire reborn" talent use in all instances. With the inferno staff you should definitely use it since everything your staff touches will be afflicted with soulblaze so probably half of the enemies in the mission. But if calculating strictly with your kills since they are basically guaranteed soulblaze afflicted kills. Let's assume you would kill 1000 enemies out of 3000 enemies with soulblaze you would then have 100 procs with 10% chance. But if you stay in coherency with your allies, on 4% proc chance the amount goes to 120 procs with 3000 kills from any source from the whole party. So if you use any other staff you should not use "in fire reborn" talent. Because you will simply not have enough enemies inflicted with soulblaze when they die. I tested this when I was doing the "warp battery" penance and I had a lot more consistent procs of warp charges with psychic vampire vs in fire reborn.
But how many enemies would you assume you apply soul blaze to? Because they just have to die with the dot applied. Regardless of how they die, or who kills them. I'd say half? would at least be assisted by you? So 150 procs? It really just depends on how the assumptions play out, and if you are in coherency with everyone, or applying soul blaze to everything.
@Gw2Zoke That's why I used the inferno staff as the example for in fire reborn calculations. That will be the ideal scenario since the staff itself gives the soulblaze. But with any other staff your only way of getting soulblaze to targets is with venting shriek, perilous combustion and wildfire without any blesses on the staff. Venting shriek being the best option and then it's a matter of luck with the other 2 talents how well they trigger and spread but it will only be a small fraction in comparison to inferno staff.
Moonlight Greatsword chads rise up! (seriously though this is a great video, thank you!) Btw though, what are your thoughts on taking Kinetic Flayer? (the other Brain Rupture upgrade)? Seems like the high rate of fire on the staff could combo well?
It is pretty obvious for all the classes that there is a "gunner", "tank" and melee side of the tree. Pretty sure the idea with Empyric is to allow the psyker to be more shooty, but in a game that spawns mobs out of LoS behind you, being a pure gunner is kind of meh.
Is it brain dead to consider taking the aura increase for my teammates in random lobbies that have a hard time sticking together during hard fights?, just to carry a bit harder
Tanner, I noticed you didnt discuss the other brain rupture talent: "kinetic flayer" which procs every 15 seconds on specials elites and monstrosities 10% chance with all attacks. I find this talent very useful since it gives a free brain rupture to aforementioned things and which means a guaranteed warp charge from elites and specials. It's a win-win no? What do you think about the talent?

I find that in havoc runs, gunners require multiple brain bursts to kill… I mean it’s still damage that contributes but it seems so inefficient that it’s almost like I should bother when it takes that long to kill one unit while vets take a fraction of the time?
If you want to do brain burst on 30+ havoc, you need to use the middle keystone with empowered psionics for the +50% damage to brainburst. This would result in a lot more downtime between venting shrieks, requiring at least one or two manual full quell before it comes back up. Upside, is they will be 100% free and 50% faster brainbursts (with out needing to waste your ability) and refund a charge on gunners/shotgunners. Note: If you are holding a charge, the kinetic flayer auto brainburst every 15s still gets the +50% damage bonus but doesn't use a charge.
For the dueling sword, is cleave damage important? I have a roll with all 80s except for cleave which is at 60, could I use that or should I keep trying to get a 60 mobility roll?
I dump cleave cuz i dont really know how its useful otherwise and I dont use the dueling sword to horde clear anyway. I have one with 60 mobility I just havent used it to even notice a difference if there is one.
@7:02 Remember darktide newbs, SLIDE dodging IS a thing. Except when your Ogryn, but who tf is playing Ogryn on auric damnation, and on hi lvl havoc anymore? Damn Fatshart devs keep nerfing the big man to the ground 😢
I partially agree with this one but you're missing a huge opportunity to actually make the haeder missions so much easier. Swap brain rupture for smite and take the far eight node that gives 5%toughness when an enemy dies with warp flame and then you can take the --40% perils generation effectively to your build..... reason being it that you can get an extra 2 full charges from the flame staff or an extra decent charge of smite. Another thing I've noticed is that all of the other perils reductions stack and the ore you use smite the longer you can actually run it, especially with venting shriek because you can trigger it without interrupting smite so you're stunning/damaging stuff then vent to set them ablaze and continue with smite to kill them and gain a boat load of toughness. Key point I want to make is that even with 30% less toughness I'm generating more toughness than I actually have to generate so taking a reduction doesn't actually mean anything to me
I'd also like to add to this that soul blaze on the great sword with the crit chance increases it can take in perks and blessing also makes auric and higher an absolute murder fest of overclocked toughness even with the reduction because if you rack up the perils for damage increase with the staff, get like 20 quick kills with the sword to stack up its own crit chance then use the spec..... each enemy hit rolls for crit and then that causes soul blaze even on death it triggers the 5% (3.5% after reduction) toughness regen so you can fill from empty and still have excess that's wasted just from this 1 attack and as a bonus everything in front of you is now gone 😅
But you want high peril, you don't want low peril, and every second you're smiting, you're not purging, and smite does shit all damage compared to inferno. You're getting plenty of toughness regen already, and what's the point of toughness on smite anyway, if you've turned off the enemy AI there's nothing to remove your toughness. All you're doing is dragging out the encounter, or forcing your team mates to make up for your lack of damage.
@wobin_dwonderdog not everything has to be about damage, if you're playing a team game use smite as your utility to be able to push forward. Yes high perils mean more damage and damage reduction but if the enemy can't deal you damage and your team is cutting them down with less risk of damage then why worry about it? The encounters don't have to take longer mainly because you can sprint, smite and move on, if the team is well put together you can actually ignore quite a lot of the chaff mobs purely because of the psyker using smite then venting because they'll just die to dots. The only thing I can't keep up with is a team of knife vets and zealots. You don't need to build to be a loner and deal all the damage yourself when you play party, my build is high crit and high dots stacking with mass hoard clearance. I regularly play party with a friend who uses a vet build made for killing armour and monsters, between our 2 builds we carry most games we play and when we get our 3rd guy in playing zealot we pretty much run with gold toughness the entire game with zealot slashing through the hoards to make a path through the burning chaff that I've set alight while the vet takes down the ogryn and bigger enemies. Beleive it or not but I also have a psyker build specifically for tanking which runs +11 stamina and deflection that works insanely well as a point guard when we don't have a slab playing
@@christopherhall2028 I see, yes, I was watching this video from the point of view of high level havoc, where not doing damage is not an option, but at lower difficulties, you're absolutely correct.
@wobin_dwonderdog I've not reached the higher level havocs just yet but working my way through when I have time, I'm mainly running t5s and t4 aurics at the moment because by the time I get to play I'm too tired to concentrate properly and I just want something chill to run through 😅. The high crit high blaze stacks works really nicely for me because even high intensity t5 aurics are a fairly comfortable run through, given that everything will be on fire or spreading the flames..... 1 thing I feel that does get missed a lot about wild fire though..... is says it cannot pass on more stacks than the killed enemy, but when playing in high intensity missions or basically any mission that is regular t4 or higher mobs spawn in high enough number that you can kill 10+, pass on 10 lots of 1 stack, vent then move on. I'm still not completely sold on the keystones because dealing extra smite damage is nice from empowered psyionics, the damage reduction and ability cooldown is great from the left side and the attack bonuses are great from the right side..... the only thing that keeping me to the left side is being able to get a vent off every 5-10 seconds 😅
I feel like the mini patch that came out the other day changed how the flame staff staggers. I had a pox burster run right thru my column of flames and explode on me for whatever reason. 😭
I am genuinely a little shocked that people are recommending using Smite with purgatus on this video so I'll give a tip. You *need* something that can handle ranged targets consistently with the purgatus or you're quite literally setting yourself up for failure in anything that's remotely challenging.
Would love to use mods again, but no matter what I try, I can't get them to work again. Sad stuff, cause I never saw the I Wanna See mod before. Great guide however.
W.r.t. the "psyker squishy" meme: I mean, psyker is squishier than other classes in a vacuum, so I kind of get it. Pretty sure you've said before that (heavily paraphrasing) "technical optimization that requires you to commit literally zero mistakes the whole match is only technically and not actually optimal". You can play worse as vet and be as tanky as a psyker played better. That makes psyker squishier overall on average. Also, because Fatshark is the way that they are, I've never been told by the game that critting with purg staff applies extra burn stacks. I believe you, as you clearly know your shit, but how'd you figure that one out?
correction: the armoured ragers now have carapace as their body armour since the update EDIT: i am a fool. i should learn to watch the whole video before commenting lol
Kinetic deflections is very bad, and once you are at critical peril, block meter does not transfer to stamina, u get staggered and open to damage. Very bad with ambush scenarios with carapace elites and hordes surround you in seconds. Stam is a better option for short and long term survivability.
What? If you reach max peril while blocking, it starts using your stamina instead. If you didn't have stamina to block at that point, that just means you weren't managing your stamina.
At the beginning I though mods were just quality life changes, but right now they feel like cheating.(I don't use mods) The purgatus staff is OP, let's make it more OP giving visibility.
you wont blow up if you just hold block unless if you push with the force swords at max peril then you will explode (ive done that a few too many times)
The only time I really ever use it is if I have a chaos spawn on me and I cant go anywhere and in that instance its useful. I just use it to not get chunked and often times there arent enemies around for you to dump peril on anyway.
@@Noggintoggini often times forget to block while reviving with psyker and its a bad habit but im rarely ever trying to revive without stamina or if its too risky anyway. I need to correct that habit though it just kind of slipped through my play after awhile prolly cuz its a psyker thing.
@@gumbo8043 You can still push, just don't push attack. It is very great for something like combat blade with the push stab that can be spammed really, really fast. Push attacks and sprinting will use stamina and you can still block just fine with 0 stamina.

so what is the curio rate to stamina that give u a real 3 max
410 and above gives you a full 3. A 400 is actually only a +2.5
I find that in havoc runs, gunners require multiple brain bursts to kill… I mean it’s still damage that contributes but it seems so inefficient that it’s almost like I should bother when it takes that long to kill one unit while vets take a fraction of the time?
If you want to do brain burst on 30+ havoc, you need to use the middle keystone with empowered psionics for the +50% damage to brainburst.
This would result in a lot more downtime between venting shrieks, requiring at least one or two manual full quell before it comes back up.
Upside, is they will be 100% free and 50% faster brainbursts (with out needing to waste your ability) and refund a charge on gunners/shotgunners.
Note: If you are holding a charge, the kinetic flayer auto brainburst every 15s still gets the +50% damage bonus but doesn't use a charge.
Nice video quality bro, fucking clean.
Bold of you to assume I don’t enjoy being blinded by warp fire.
For the dueling sword, is cleave damage important? I have a roll with all 80s except for cleave which is at 60, could I use that or should I keep trying to get a 60 mobility roll?
I would keep rolling as the boost from mobility caps out at 60, cleave isn't great but it does apply to all attacks.
for this build in particular it would probably be ideal, since you'll be using purge for most enemies regardless.
I dump cleave cuz i dont really know how its useful otherwise and I dont use the dueling sword to horde clear anyway. I have one with 60 mobility I just havent used it to even notice a difference if there is one.
I like this drip. 😮
This build would work with either 1h/2h forcesword, yes? Duelling sword is just not fun anymore.
How do you get red gear?
I thought it wasn't in the game yet
Just a visual mod
The mod is called Red Weapons At Home, its on Nexus if you wanna get it.
I kinda missed unhinged tanner ngl
Beef says kinetic deflection is for keeping peril up when you have a boss aggro
how can i make my weapon red?
Mod
HOW BIG FOV
tanner will you play warframe 1999
Balls
Cock
I feel like the mini patch that came out the other day changed how the flame staff staggers. I had a pox burster run right thru my column of flames and explode on me for whatever reason. 😭
Charged flame doesn't stagger really.
Need to use the single burst primary fire to stagger.
@@level12lobster8 that'll do it
12:47 well yes, but actually, no
I am genuinely a little shocked that people are recommending using Smite with purgatus on this video so I'll give a tip.
You *need* something that can handle ranged targets consistently with the purgatus or you're quite literally setting yourself up for failure in anything that's remotely challenging.
Not to you Tanner but the commenter's that I've seen actually suggesting this somehow in the comments.
I believe you, as you clearly know your shit, but how'd you figure that one out?
correction: the armoured ragers now have carapace as their body armour since the update
EDIT: i am a fool. i should learn to watch the whole video before commenting lol
I don't think this is a bug either as bulwarks and reapers have had unyielding as their main armor type for ages.
If you didn't have stamina to block at that point, that just means you weren't managing your stamina.
how much crack is bro on with this upload schedule
why do you sound so angry, thats a nice build :D
thats just my voice
now lets see u play it
Meta? I don't even know-a!
This mod better not awaken anything in me
Bro first thing he goes over is to have a mod like bro I'm on console 😭
My content is not made for people on consle at all. If you're serious about games you'd use a pc
@TannerLindberg I totally agree I wasn't upset about the mods I was just like fuck I can't use that damn
@TannerLindberg and if I could afford a PC I would but yk the money situation is bad rn
Great, now everyone will run this :(
At the beginning I though mods were just quality life changes, but right now they feel like cheating.(I don't use mods)
The purgatus staff is OP, let's make it more OP giving visibility.
One of the strongest meta builds ever? How? Psyker can't equip krak grenades.
GLORP
Bro figured out my brainburst tech for dealing with gunners
I've never taken Kinetic Deflection. I need my peril to kill targets, can't be wasting peril on blocks!
you wont blow up if you just hold block unless if you push with the force swords at max peril then you will explode (ive done that a few too many times)
It pretty much Gurantees you get to revive your teammates since you pretty much have 2 stamina bars
12:45 it's pronounced [im PATH ick], not [imp e THAT ik] 😂
