My eMTB weights almost 100 lbs. so finding a bike rack to handle that much weight was impossible to find. A motorcycle carrier was the only solution and I'm very happy with it. Easy on easy off and lots of tie down points. Highly recommend one!
I got one of these in 2015 when they still cost $50 (self-assembly required). I added a long eyebolt at one end, and with it and the ramp I can carry two ebikes with no problem. Just remember to check the ratchet straps often, because starting and stopping can eventually cause them to loosen up.
They’re plenty of options on sizes as well. I have a mid sized SUV which is not as wide as your truck and it fits right in between the bumpers with nothing sticking out. Got at Walmart around 100 bucks. They work great and are solid
I went this route. A con I did not consider was if the the tire(s) lose air during transport, your straps will loosen and your load will fail. Also, if your E bike is full suspension there is another point of potential failure.
I've been racking my brain trying to decide on how to carry a RadRunner and RadWagon which are both about 75lbs. I'm definitely leaning towards a double motorcycle rack but the couple I've seen extended so far off the vehicle. Converting a cargo carrier seems reasonable but then I haven't tried to do it. Have you seen any successful conversations? You made a great point about the road grime getting all over everything. Almost no one talks about using a cover. Either way i'm going to try to find my old soccer shin guards.
This is an excellent option for heavier e-bikes. I would encourage you to paint the ends a bright orange, and/or add small safety flags. Heck, some pipe padding could save some bruises, too!
@@inGearAdventure I actually found out they were the retractable ratchet straps I never heard of them until I saw your video and bought some they are awesome . I used them the other day

Nice!! Thanks for the feedback! Great to hear!
This is exactly what I was thinking. Your the only one that verified it.. Thanks I also have a Yamaya XT250 that can be transported on a MC rack..
It's a great low cost solution!
This is an excellent video on this rack! Thank you! I got an ebike and bought the same rack. Thanks for the demo!
Thanks so much! We appreciate you watching!
Thanks for posting this video. I’ve been wondering if this set up would work.
No link to the rack? 🙄

Great point. It’s definitely a winner for it’s budget to strength ratio! Thanks for watching!

I got the exact same rack for my eBike, very easy and useful.
It's a tank!

Haha! Check out Hollywood Racks. Their ebike racks come ready to haul bikes up to 80lbs!
What did you end up with? I have rad runner too...
I have the same bikes. What rack did you pick?
I want a Hollywood rack, but just can't afford $500 on a rack. Looking for more affordable options!
Would be great to have on from Harbor Freight that could hold 2 e-bikes .
How’s the rattle on this one? I have a 110lb bike… do you think an anti rattle clamp is necessary? I’m just trying to keep things budget friendly.
Which rack is this one?
It sticks out so it can be visible in your side mirrors.
And to remind you of how painful a shin smack can be

What type of ratchet straps do you use?
Anything from Home Depot or Lowe’s!

I used a motorcycle handle bar tie down set up and that rocks
