    I can't be "safe" in the present moment if I am focused on the past or worrying about the future.

      I appreciate you watching the video. How will you start addressing that? If you’re interested in videos on rumination, you can find them at: th-cam.com/users/DocSnipessearch?query=rumination

      This happens to me A LOT. I would absolutely learn about rumination with the link provided. What else has helped me is the free resources on her website. Doc doesn't know me. I'm speaking from my heart and her free resources are extremely valuable and helpful. You're not alone. WE GOT THIS 🙏🏼🙌🏼

    #4 Pick your battles is very serious and important to listen to and heed. I have not been good at doing that. Almost everything has gotten to me throughout my adult life, to the point that my physical health has gone downhill. There were two ongoing events that really put me in a downward spiral & in crisis for a long time plus moving house and downsizing. One ongoing event went on from end of 2009 all the way til beginning 2012 and then another for a few months in 2013. That one involved family mobbing and I don't think that I will ever truly recover from that. It's the catalyst that made me realize that I come from a family of malignant narcissists. And I myself am very likely on the spectrum as well. And then the move took place in 2016. I was and have been really traumatized, in survival mode all that time, plus some periods of crisis too. I looked for help, saw some therapists but none of them really understood and even the DBT therapists turned out to be abusive. And then I chose some of the most unhealthy ways to cope too, making my emotional dysregulation and therefore my reactions to stressful stuff so much worse.
    It took something so serious very recently, that required an emergency room trip to make me realize that raging and ranting about things other people do, even if they are things like betrayal and lying, is so damaging to not only the psyche but the body too. I'm still recovering, which has given me a lot of time to really think about and go over...my life pretty much. And being in my 50s, the time I've lost spending it in such an angry bitter place has been hitting me really hard.
    My reactions felt and seemed out of my control. There would be a trigger and I'd feel the sudden flood in my frontal cortex and start yelling/ranting. After the ER visit, I've had a couple things that triggered me. One in particular is that my (so called) partner has a habit of blaming me for some of his behaviors. I felt the reaction in my frontal cortex. But I stopped the usual behavior. I did speak my mind though, I just didn't rant or yell. I said my piece and then shut up and went about the rest of my night. I spoke to myself and said, "No amount of ranting will change his opinion. He's the pathetic one for not taking responsibility. My health is more important than proving my point by yelling and seething. I know what's true and that's what matters. If I start to rant and lose my sh!z then it will only hurt ME and I will end up in the hospital. And at some point, this will end up ending me. So eff that. I do have the catalyst now of the scary thing of my body breaking down and an emergency room visit to patch me up. But maybe my sharing this can help someone NOT reach that point.

    This is so helpful! I do get frustrated a lot, but when you said to recognize the frequency, duration, and intensity, and celebrate any progress, it helps! I appreciate how you also said that most folks do waste time, but we can make adjustments day to day and that was encouraging.

      @@DocSnipes thank you. I valued all you shared but what I got most out of it was the concept of “celebrating my progress” no matter how big or small but taking the time, taking a moment to acknowledge it and giving myself the permission to celebrate my efforts and good deeds. (Key being no matter how big or small, at least for me because I’m always feeling like there is more to do or more I could’ve done.) also the importance of reflecting on wasted energy, not using that however to guilt myself but instead for the awareness aspect of where I can pull more energy from in future.

    When I left my father for freedom, I lost a lot of security. I see you are helping me get that back. This is elemental stuff that I am working on. Thanks for your ability to see the basics and address it. I am still looking for security day to day. I was the scapegoat and I had to perform (empathically)to survive. A scrapbook helps me see my worth from the past when I had a high measure of esteem before the gangstalking and takedown. You really give to me for empowerment, Doc Snipes. Wow. You are a light in the dark as well as a role model for thriving for me. 🌅 You are like a growth buddy, a friend over troubled waters. You show me I can do this. For me this is about nurturing the nurturer to avoid burnout and trauma. (I got killed, stolen from, and destroyed).

      @@DocSnipes "YEAH IM WORTH IT, IM LOVEABLE!!!" On this side of recovery, I have gone through just existing to now having life; and having it abundantly, but I have been single now for 5 yrs and I know the Lords timing is perfect and He is pruning me and getting me ready for the promise to come. So although I am speaking this into fellow brothers and sisters lives I need to speak this into my own life. Therefore I AM single ,but never alone John 16:32

      If i doesn't bring you joy you are allowed to stop it and give it to the trash. Allow yourself to end things even if you didn't succeed. You are an adult you dont need to feel guilty. Just stop it and put yourenergy in something that you like doing!

      @@levilabs1781 Hey friend, I think some of us have a perfectionistic mindset, whereby we feel if something does not meet a high standard in terms of quality, then we' d rather not produce. And now I believe that we should just trust in our abilities talents and skills and just produce and progress with our projects, even if we think they are not yet perfect, focus more on progress and less on perfection.

    • @levilabs1781
      @levilabs1781 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@winnypsychologist2560 It's true. This has been a big issue of mine for a long time, I'm in the process now of deciding what to make as content and in what way to do it. For example, too many topics on one youtube channel will make it unpopular.
      Also, I don't want to reflect poorly on minority groups that I would partially represent if I made content as a member of them. As well as having small amounts of information that need to be kept private. I'm going to record video freely but review it before posting. I also have to finish soundproofing the area where I will record :). You are right though, and thanks for the encouragement.
