Installed mine today and could not be happier. Video was a huge help. One tip I can add is that for the top nut connection I pulled the hood pad down a bit and went in from the outside of the car in each direction through the holes/slots in the hood. This way my finger was only a couple inches away using the flexible metal holder. Highly recommend this mod.
That looks great! I really wish that Hyundai would include that hood struts from the factory. I’m super excited for my Elantra N to arrive and definitely this is something that I would add to my new car.
That is a great addition. Always wanted the hood struts like my wife's sonata. If I I'dont score on the giveaway, I'm copying the link to buy. Personally I'd be cool on my performance blue with either of the other 2 but probably carbon fiber black would be the first choice. Keep up the awesome content 👏
Love ur video i am geting my 22 n line elantra on this Monday is a all some car Thank for your tip it help a lot on understanding it how it functions thank a lot
Definitely a great mod to add! Hood struts, in my opinion, adds convenience to opening the hood and somewhat a luxurious touch. I felt like you were talking to me when you said future Elantra owner 😢 because I will own an EN! (I believe!)
I have the Intence Blue (sent a drag video before) the hood struts I think would look awesome on mine love that your keeping the car clean and not ricing out the car hard with useless parts
Sometimes the instructions are more of a hindrance than actually helping. I've done the same thing ( ditch the instructions and figured it out myself ). Great job and thanks for the vid,, !!
Just got finished installing mine using your video. This was super helpful. I will say I don't have 100% confidence these will hold up over time. The bottom attachments don't seem to be super secure. Did a couple of test good pops and opens and the lower clips seem to come a bit loose with each hood pop
I know what you mean about the bottom clip, but it should hold up just fine. You can also turn the bracket a bit which is what I did with mine and that may help. Don’t hesitate to email me if you have further questions about it and I could send pictures.
I love my elantra N I am sti playing with all the features it has and trying to tune it to my driving style but I have only owned it for about a week .... it is a fun car to drive and really enjoying it. The struts would be better then the manual hood Even my 2015 kia had struts to keep the hood up. That was a fun car also but was not a turbo car...
They sell better rubber bushings for the rear motor mount for like $40. I've heard that's the best cheap mod. (Especially in 6spd). But it's significantly cheaper than replacing the whole mount and is a solid upgrade to eliminate some wheel hop
I just installed mine I'm leaving my support bar installed I'm a firm believer in backup. Just in case in the future the shocks fail how have the support bar. It isn't in the way so I'm not going to remove it.
@@klasseact6663 I just ordered them. I got the regular black struts (don't need CF) and they were only $36! Once I get them installed I'll let you know if it clears the catch can.
@@ENtense Okay so I tried to install the hood struts. The cheap flimsy wand they give you detached from each end. I'm in a 100* garage, so now each metal end with the hole (at the ends of the wand) are stuck inside my hood. I tried removing the pop rivels but it's not in there., its behind them INSIDE my hood. Any ideas on how to get these things out?
It looks like the design has changed since this video was released? From the images on Amazon, it appears that the ball on the shock tower bracket is no longer riveted to the bracket. The brackets now have a slot in them and the ball bolts to bracket with a nut. I gather this is done to allow some height adjustment, presumably because there have been some complaints about the driver's side strut hitting the top of the ECU?
You should keep the stock hood rod. Hood struts wear our and will eventually need to be replaced. Also if you ever need to do front suspension work you'll need to remove the mounts, and you'll be stuck trying to find a way to keep the hood open.
So I upgarded all the speakers including the sub in its stock location. And while it sounds great now I do see the need for amplifying the sub. Can you recommend a small that won't add much weight to run a JL 8W1v3 effectively?
That's a mod I can get behind, but I'd probably keep the original prop rod in place for a back up; pneumatic ones tend to crap out at the worst time. Also, I noticed a link for a 64 GB USB drive in the links below. Flash drives in a car tend to fail over time because of heat. Just ordered a 5 pack of SanDisk 32 GB Cruzer low profile drives for $37 off Amazon. My driving playlist I curated resides on my computer separate from the rest of my music. That way, when the one in the car craps out, I can just copy all 856 songs to a new drive, no problems.
Definitely worth the money! And yeah I am keeping the OEM prop rod, I also put the 10mm bolts back where they came out from so I don’t lose them lol. As for the usb drive, I just put that one in there for a reference for others to use to do the infotainment update. But I understand what you mean.
Looks great bro! So how do I join the contest for the carbon fiber(regular)? I can you send a pic of my Black “N” as I wrapped the red ground effect in carbon fiber. The N on both sides is still red. Looks vicious, like a black widow. I can send you pics to show proof!
Very straight forward install. My question is if you decide to take these off some day, will that metal tab they screw into just drop into your hood? I’m not sure why you would take them off, but curious more than anything.
That’s a great question. And from the way these need to be installed, if you removed the mount on the top, then the bracket holding it in would indeed fall into the hood. While getting that piece out will likely be near impossible lol, if you can get it back out, you could always save the metal piece and re-tape it together, and re-install if necessary.
very nice!! may add this, hope it comes in red... that is if i can get the car and they dont mark it up too much. as far as I know its 34K MSRP plus TT&L. Fingers crossed
These are pretty popular on the Veloster N because our hoods weigh like 600 lbs. I wonder if this is part of the frontal crash protection. My Genesis Coupe had hood struts which were nice.
dude PLEASE, i live literally 20 miles from you, i will drive and pick those hood struts up RIGHT NOW as im typing this, lets make this happen man please lol edit: i have a white N, ill take the blue ones even dont care if it doesnt match just almost dropped my old st hood on my hands and just never again, forsure staying tuned to the giveaway
Would be nice to have, but for my driving habits and how little I drive, as of right now it’s not worth the $300+. I’ve heard many good things about it though. I’m sure I’ll get one eventually. Both boomba and SXTH have good reviews.
‼️BEFORE YOU BUY‼️ Black carbon ones at least cause the hood to not sit flush as the plastic piece on top of the ECU slightly obstructs it. I have a 2023 so 2022 might be different.
Finally got my all black struts on Friday and couldn’t wait to jump on this. Rewatched this vid to walk thru the process and it went really clean and ez. I got the top connectors first try so I didn’t need much patience thank god. I did borrow a small tweak however that another random utoober did that made sense to kinda help yourself in the future should u need to uninstall them. I cut the flat metal “feeder strip” in half n bent each of the cut ends in a hairpin about 2 inches long. This, once the top connector is threaded thru, will allow for an ability to retrieve the whole connection due to the bent end catching on the hole it’s fed thru on the hood vs losing the threaded nut to dropping inside the hood if ya unscrew the connector. Not impossible to diy another but ezier to just save what ya got doing virtually the same amount of effort. All in all, awesome simple mod and it actually updates the engine bay and helps bigtime with that redonkulously heavy hood. Reflector next!! Just a few days til it’s here!! Be back on ur channel with that reinstall Brandon!! Thnx brudduh 🤘🏽🤙🏽🤘🏽
The bracket could be modified on the lower bracket, I’ve seen it done already actually. But, it will also depend on the strut bar you have, as there are different styles out there. So there is a chance they may not fit together.

Thanks Brandon I used this vid as a reference today

Just installed mine today. Thanks for the tips!!
I went with Redline tuning. They are a USA company. Alittle more expensive but worth it.
@ENtense I installed these but, there's a gap on the driver's side. What can we do to get rid of that gap
Awesome! That seals the deal
