I hope enough channels show this love and we get a sequel or successor. The more I'm playing of it, the more I'm seeing all the potential. For some reason it reminds me of Hateful 8 as well, which is one of my favorite films
From what I can recall, I believe both Reservoir Dogs and Hateful 8 were inspired by The Thing. Hateful 8 even has a cut soundtrack from The Thing that never got used.
I wished there was some physical copy of the remake, a limited would have been cool. Huge fan of the game, mostly because of the movie. The game itself had some limits but I can't help to wonder what kind of peak gaming could we reach if we had a modern The Thing game. The biggest obstacle would be the mentality that most gaming companies have. The current level of crisis is not merely political, but also caused by the "let's play safe mentality" developpers have. The original company at the time took some big risks with their mechanics. How many modern companies would do the same? How many would study the lore, to its details?
Nightdive should get a preservation award! Nice feature, 17k is v close i see ! The original was kinda the first time i saw real time npc behaviour feedback...it was pretty big,
It's such a great game. And they removed the scripted enforced NPC transformations too, now squad members infection status depends on if they have been injured by a Thing. I don't understand why the original dev didn't include Ennio Morricone/John Carpenter's original score ? Maybe it was too expensive on Morricone's part ? I would like to see them remaster the first two THIEF games. Though the evil EMBRACER GROUP owns the rights now. So, fat chance.
When the trailer came out for the original my dad then showed me the movie, same when rockstars the warriors trailer released, he showed me the movie before buying the game. Cool dad
I’m really enjoying this game so far. I was aware of it from way back when but never had the chance to play the original, nightdive delivers again! I really hope this game sells well because I’d love for them to get a hold of Jaws Unleashed. Seeing this old licensed game released now gives me renewed hope for it!
I loved this game back in early 2000s, my life now is constantly on the move so have no console but as I'm back with family for 3 weeks over Christmas I'm gonna use my little bro's Switch and blitz through this remaster.
I was a fan of the game when it originally came out. I played it a few years ago for the first time in years, & while I enjoyed it, it does lose its way after a while. The first 3 levels ooze atmosphere & I found unsettling, but when it gets to the long shooting sections, its just not as enjoyable. I think it is a good game, but it was just too far head of its time. The potential was limited by the technology, & there ended up being a lot of unnecessary long shooting sections. I still plan on getting this though. I would also like to see a new game based on The Thing. One that fully explores the potential & ambition this game had. Imagine a game based on the film with the level of attention to detail like Alien Isolation had?
The thing 2002 a Cult classic? I mean it sold very well when it launched. Anyway its a decent game that became good or even great for those of us who are fans of the 1982 movie. Back when i got it for pc it sure had its issues but i loved it because im such a huge fan.
@joethealternativegamer3935 Yeah today it would agree it is a cult classic. Im gonna have so much fun replaying this without the ammo/health shortage and infection bugs fixed. I will definitely play this on the hardest difficulty and not be tortured for it 😆
Hoping for more remasters from the 2000s games. Didn't have the shiny graphics of today, but man did they have awesome gameplay. Didn't care for Killing Time. I did buy P o'Ed on sale, but didn't care for it. Medal of Honor remains the best FPS game on PS1. I thought The Thing Remaster was gonna be $20, but it is $30 like Turok 3. Gonna wait for a sale or physical copy. These Nightdive Studios releases go from $10 to $40 now. They need to make a proper remaster for Redline. Almost bought the Steam version, but it isn't actual remaster. So, got instead Vladik Brutal and G-String during the Steam sale. Both are 1 dev passion project FPS games. Way better than any AAA or most 1990s throwback FPS games. Shame the new Delta Force multiplayer is free to play garbage that copies: Call of Duty and Battlefield with a lame futuristic hero shooter set up. Only hope is the Black Hawk Down campaign lol.
@@FlaqkoGTA I honestly did not know! I have it for my Gamecube I think, but I didn't know they were remastering it... imma get it on payday fs unless its broken or shitty
@@joethealternativegamer3935Beamdog remastered Never Winter Nights and has kept the game alive for us old school diehards. Servers for open worlds are still around after YEARS of the game being around. Thank you Beamdog.

From what I've heard, t game sold well enough to green light a sequel. Unfortunately, the dev/publisher took on too many projects and then got closed down back in the 2000s. I'd say Cold Winter is an underrated M rated PS2 exclusive. It and Soldier of Fortune 1&2 could use a remaster.
This is a REALLY good remaster.
Anyone saying otherwise clearly hasn't played the original PS2 version or the original PC copy.
:)

Exactly!
Aliens vs Predator 2 would be the best remaster for me of all time. Definitely would love a remake of this game even more.
That rebellion or monolith!?
@joethealternativegamer3935 Monolith 🙂
@ FEAR!!!
Who owns The Getaway? Remaster that! Loved that game!
Sony :(
This game needed a remake. A completely new The Thing game needs to be made, really. If done right, it would be one of the best horror games ever.
A remaster is fine. A sequal would honestly be the best game ever made if they make it like the movie
I’d prefer a sequel or spiritual successor
I gotta play this one day
Reach out to night dive and play it now :)
