    • @mfallen2023
      @mfallen2023 2 วันที่ผ่านมา +4

Should be doing that regardless. More people need to handload. I know I'm stacking primers and powder deep at the moment, even though I have enough factory ammo in the common chambering's to last me 2-3 years minimum. Even hunting loadings in .30, .338, .243 I'm probably good for 5-10 years. And this is the case with everyone I know that shoots... If Trump wins, I expect to see ammo prices fall as all the disto and retail dealers are sitting on massive amounts of factory ammo, yet the demand has fallen off a cliff since 2022.
This letter seems like an attempt to kick panic-buying back in, and a poor attempt at that.

I predict this is just the first shot across the bow.
Costs for ALL manufacturers, for ALL products have gone up. How much of that 5-10% will trickle down to the retail level is yet to be seen. It depends on what OTHER manufacturers do.
In any case, I do not expect the ammunition industry to be different than anyone else.
Imagining that the price of toilet paper, meat, popcorn, tires, gasoline, electricity, and underwear have increased 10-25% and ammunition will not is ridiculous.
The BEST thing we can do is to VOTE FOR TRUMP. A Harris Presidency will absolutely cause a HUGE spike in ammunition (and firearm) costs as people hoard ammunition (and guns) against perceived incoming bans or restrictions.

Republicans aren't likely to retain the House. Republicans may flip the Senate, but it looks iffy. There are many neo-cons and RINOs in the Senate GOP who sell out to Democrats (vote for anti-2A laws). Democrats in key swing states are playing games again with mail-in ballots, liberal courts have recently weakened anti voter fraud laws at the state level. The Biden-Harris regime DOJ has sued states from removing noncitizens from the voter rolls. Trump has to have enough legitimate votes to beat the margin of fraud. It will be tough.

If the primary reasons are gunpowder prices are going up and nitrocellulose is a “bottleneck,” why aren’t other ammo manufacturers doing the same thing? Maybe it’s early, but it seems like something they all would have anticipated and also been on top of. Also, being a diehard capitalist doesn’t mean bending over any time a price is raised for no logical or acceptable reason.

There IS a really good kick in the GROIN to Winchester for this. On or about December 15th, CANCEL ALL ORDERS to Winchester ammunition, and LET IT ROT ON THE LOADING DOCKS! After 6 months or so of having DISMAL sales, MAYBE they will get the hint!

  • @Jesses001

I might understand a price increase. Inflation and supply and demand. I do remember, however, that their pricing kind of followed the industry as things fluctuated, so not sure why all of a sudden they need to increase. Also the people who have been waiting on their ammo suddenly own you more money and you assume they are cool with that unless they say otherwise seems a bit sketchy.

Those prices are already up, applied in 2021. None of these companies are selling their ammo at cost/at a loss. If anything the demand is lower than expected and supply is extremely high, meaning we should be seeing an adjustment downward in the coming months, barring another "panic" event.

Then prices shot up overnight from 40 cents a round to 60 cents a round and have still not gotten back to the 40 cents a round mark. Yeah, I remember that and it was just a rumor with zero basis in reality but it sure helped Winchester make more money. PMC is usually cheaper and shoots about the same.

Sending out price lists months in advance is normal. This is only a bit more than 2 months before it is in effect. It's useful for quoting, especially when it's retroactive. Nothing is worse than having a sudden price increase effective that week dropped on you. Many vendors I've dealt with do this same practice Winchester is doing.

Winchester has no fucking business raising their ammo prices even by 0.0000001% when their ammo is the shittiest quality I’ve ever had the displeasure of purchasing. Every single box of Winchester ammo I’ve ever bought whether that be handgun ammo, 12ga buckshot, or rifle ammo has had some sort of deformity, improper/inconsistent seating, or some sort of corrosion. It burns dirty too and it’s just bottom of the barrel. Even their defender hollow points suck ass. Worse quality control than AAC.
EDIT: I take back part of my comment. I have bought a Winchester ammo product that didn’t have some issue with it and it’s their 12GA Super X birdshot. But that doesn’t matter when all their other ammo has issues.

Bottom line, these ammo manufacturers beefed up so huge during the pandemic they were sitting on tons and tons of overstock in recent months. Something needed to happen to make things start moving again. The manufactured shortage in key propellant ingredients is a good start. Powders are expensive as heck now. Guys, Curt, this is the first ever election cycle that I've ever seen where the over supply of firearms and ammo was HUGE. Sales are so slow these guys are feeling huge pain. This is a total outlier no one in that business ever expected given the nature of this years election. The crappy economy even with bargain basement prices wasn't enough. Now these clowns at WInchester are trying to manufacture a crisis that doesn't exist. I think Winchester ammo is GARBAGE across the board and haven't bought a single round of their crap in 10 years. Winchester White Box for example, I've had better luck and reliability from TulAmmo in center fire pistol rounds, no BS. Raise all you want Winny, I still ain't buying what you're selling. This is just one humble opinion. Ifyou like their stuff have at it. CHINA cut off shipments of nitrocellulose in August along with antimony. Two key components in ammo manufacturing. The quality of the Win and Browning logo's seem really low res, like someone pulled them off Google images and upscaled. That alone is suspicious to me. My guess is this is some shifty distributor that has been stuck with pallets of ammo they can't sell, praying they can kick panic buying into the scene again.
I don't see it happening... Everyone I know in the retail side says they have more ammo than they know what to do with. If anything we're going to be seeing price decreases if Trump wins. Seems like everyone is comfortable with the ammo levels they have, unlike in 2020.

I didn't happen to catch any typos though, and the quality could be due to screenshotting or scanning

@@Franimus MS Word will catch typo's and mis-spellings, and modern printers don't degrade quality like old Xerox machines (especially when digitally scanned). Plus, no Olin logo's? That's the company that would be instituting this, not a Collab between Win and Browning, the companies under Olin... Idk. This just looks like the letter head someone would throw together to fool people in my eyes.
Another really odd aspect: they aren't going to honor previous contract prices?! That's a great way to get sued, and the kind of thing any corporate attorney worth their salt would advice against.
Idk, just seems fake to me.

I've never had any more problems with Winchester than any of the other big boys like Remington or Federal. Might give Federal the edge, then Win, then Remington.
Hornandy beats them all in terms of quality, but they cost more so they can fund their regarded marketing shenanigans, lol

Your screed about capitalism is fine. But capitalisms economic adjustments only seems to be accepted and happening when you are a corporate entity. Is this going to help out the Winchester workforce? Unlikely other than make up some story about how jobs will be kept. So when you rush to defense of 'capitalism' and besmudge peoples honest reaction to this makes you sound shrilly. YMMV
