Recently I brought Lexus 2021 Rx 350, unfortunately, I hear random squeaky plastic noise and I went to the dealer and their technician told me it happening due to cold weather and very disappointed and regard. Please let me know anyone face similar noise problem.
Hey Windy: if you bought this car new I would be creating a paper trail and if they fail to fix these issues you could have a potential lemon law case. My friend was able to win a case for noisy brakes on a Honda Pilot…
@Windy Time hi our is similar problem, last Friday 7 Jan 2021 I went to service center for sixth times and they couldn’t fixed and they keep adding sound damping inside driver side door panel and that didn’t fix the issue. Everyday living with noise.
I have been driving my RX300 now 22 years it’s still excellent internally, friends say, if you close your eyes you would think you were in a new car. Everything still works no problems. The exterior is a bit tattered, mainly due to supermarket car parks. The only downside the fuel consumption 20-25 miles to the UK gallon, less if you are a sporty driver, the time has now come for another Lexus, I think I will try the NX300H .
Is it the same engine configuration? That 3.5 is a workhorse but unfortunately is very thirsty. The NX is a great choice and from what I’ve heard it’s of similar dimensions as your RX.
Have a 2018 RX350 and love it. Noble Brown interior, like yours, and much of the same optional equipment. Your review is accurate, car is great, smooth ride, detail to craftsmanship etc. Gas mileage is not the greatest, but it is a fairly large vehicle. I am 62 and love the quite it provides, if I were 32 I might opt. for something a little more sporty. Reliable and comfortable, that is my "sweet spot". Thanks!
You’re totally right. When we got it we knew this was going to be a comfortable, quiet and “Lexus reliable” The Noble brown leather and the matte finish wood trim never got old. Will definitely not be my last Lexus. We were waiting to see the next NX but it didn’t come soon enough. Thank you for your comment
Wow! You really got my point! That’s exactly how I feel! We pay too much for these cars to be fanboys. I have absolutely no brand loyalty but my best experiences have been with Lexus/Toyota products but I have owned many brands, domestic, Asian, European. Thank you for your comment. I hope you don’t mind if I pin it.
@@JuanCarlosLTO that is very true! Everything still works perfectly on my RX except for maybe the leather seats are a little worn looking with the wrinkles😜
I am still driving my 2008 RX 350 after 13 years in Saudi Arabia that has a hot weather .. but I had no issue with this car but : "Dynamo electricity " I have changed it for about 900 USD
Oh wow! That’s great. I have owned and driven Lexus vehicles in the California desert where temperatures raise to 115-120 (imperial valley) and have never had any overheating issues, old or new. Just great, long lasting cars.
Hi Juan thank you for your great indepth review. My wife and I are in the market for a RX350. I like the color of the interior seats. We like the F sport but don't like the red seats.
You don’t need to use your hand to activate the sensor. You can use your elbow, your arm, anything practically. When my hands are full I just move a part of my body in front of the sensor and it works.
Wow! It never worked for me that great. Actually sometimes I had to reposition my hand in order for it to work and many times I just opted to use the button underneath. Thank you for your comment
You're welcome Joel. I actually edited out a part where I say that this is THE vehicle to purchase used as it should continue to be very reliable beyond initial warranty. Let someone else take the depreciation hit from buying it new.
Juan Carlos, the equivalent BMW would not be the X3, but the X5. I know that because I had an X5 and now have an RX350. The difference is, the Lexus is made to last, the others are not. I will have my RX350 for many years to come.
Hi Jeff, you’re right about it size wise but the X5 is much more expensive than the RX. And yes, that was our plan when we opted for the RX350, keep it for many years beyond warranty expiration. Great vehicle, very reliable… it don’t be my last Lexus, that is for sure. Thank you for your comment
We have the same exact car but 2019, it’s amazing. Noble brown, caviar exterior. Pano roof, mark levnson, rear heated seats, pano camera, etc. We have 15,000 miles on it. We’re from La Jolla too!
That trim level is gorgeous. It never got old. My friend has the 2018 but F Sport. Pearl White exterior with red/black interior. It’s pretty cool but doesn’t feel as premium as ours. Good choice.
Do you hear 👂 any plastic squeaky noise while driving. My is Lexus RX 350 and 4000km . Please let me know. I just regret of buying 2021 Lexus and dealer also not helping.
Crossovers in particular don’t get great mpg numbers if they’re AWD. Those 4 cylinder (turbo) CUVs get the same crappy gas mileage (aerodynamics play into this problem). What people don’t realize is AWD components add a lot extra weight from the transfer case, output shaft, rear drive axle and differential. Not to mention the added load on the engine at any given time. When it comes time to replace tires on an AWD car they all need to be replaced with the same tire too, which can get expensive depending on the tires you buy.
Your so right about AWD tire wear... the body shape plays a role, the weight and the height underneath the vehicle. Ours was FWD but you’re right about the added weight of the AWD system which in the RX is mostly dormant at all times. Thanks for your comment Knuckles
Thanks for the review. We are in the market for a 2018 RX350. Even though our budget only allows us for a used one, your review makes me feel comfortable getting one. Great video. Hope you got your Tesla Model Y.
I’d say that the RX350 is THE crossover for the used car market because of how reliable they continue to be after initial warranty! Another key aspect to it is that Lexus in general don’t change much throughout the years. So the current body style has been around for what, 5 years? And it’s based on the same platform of the prior generation. Very durable, reliable cars. You can’t go wrong with Lexus.
I recently bought a 2018 RX 450h and love every aspect of it! Great car, great mileage, super comfortable and quiet. My first Lexus but not my last, for sure.
@@JuanCarlosLTO Thanks! I just found out 30 minutes ago it’s not an F Sport after buying the car and looking at the original dealer sheet. It’s a f***ing base model. It also doesn’t have heated seats and other features that were advertised…… Why do dealerships have to be such scumbags? :(
I just bought the 2021, not too bad, not great, already going back to the dealer for the transmission. It up shifts too fast causing the engine to bog down and strain, it hunts for gears and sometimes it’s hesitates so bad, it almost stops as I’m trying to turn and accelerate. For 54k this is unacceptable.
Sorry to hear that. In the editing of the video I left out a part where I talk about the issues with the transmission in bumper to bumper traffic where it seems to get lost a bit hunting for gears. Another issue that occurred about 5 times was the dash screen rebooting itself for no reason. Has it ever happened to you?
@@JuanCarlosLTO that hasn't happened, but I dis notice I can't pull up the owners manual as well, we will see what the dealer says tomorrow, but I don't think anything will be resolved.
What they usually do is try to recreate the problem and they usually get away with saying they weren’t able to at the time of testing. Because ours would do it when we’d step on the gas mildly from a stop just to catch up to the vehicle in ahead of us and as we’d start slowing down, second or third gear would kick in and bump us forward. So the conditions were very specific and annoying btw.
@@JuanCarlosLTO sitting at the dealer now, tech says that's the way it works, is looking into a software update and will open a case with Lexus, so it's noted. They are very nice but it's not acceptable at this price. I may go over to Tesla
Our best ownership experience has been with Lexus/Toyota products. The transmission of the RX350 is not their strongest point though. We are really liking our Model Y but it’s no Lexus when it comes to build quality, it’s nice but no Lexus. It’s a whole different experience. My wife doesn’t care about cars, literally but loves the Model Y. The technology is so advanced in comparison to our RX350 but the transition to a fully electric car is very particular. I’d say test drive one and see if it’s for you. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.
Thank you so much for your comment. I believe there’s a lot of value in these amateurish user reviews as we actually spend our hard earned money on them vs professional car reviewers who know infinitely more about cars but don’t have that connection with them. I think the RX is THE premium suv to buy in the pre owned market for its reliability and longevity.
The Tesla Model Y rides like horse drawn buggy, the ride is bumpy like hell! I test drove it, returned and never opened a web page or catalog with a Tesla ever again. Get the Audi Q5, you will not be disappointed.
I have a 2016 RX' AWD Base for almost 2 years but I've put on alot miles, so I can say this car isn't meant for everyone because most folks will not enjoy the transmission and cornering of this vehicle, but I love it as I've had zero issues and have done all maintenance on my own.
That’s one of my favorite things about Lexus, you can do a lot of the maintenance yourself. The cornering? Didn’t bother me at all, soft suspension but I never confused this for a sports car. Thanks Richard
@@JuanCarlosLTO Just curious have you driven it with the base 18" wheels? I have a set of 20" F Sport wheels I've yet to put on but was wondering if that made a driving difference.
I did. I once got a loaner with the 18” and honestly I didn’t perceive a difference. I’m sure there was but not to a point where it was annoying or anything. Those F Sport wheels are super nice… I would 🤣
The executive package give heated rear seats, rear window sun shade, panoramic sunroof that goes to the back seat, power folding rear/reclining seats, LED auto leveling headlamps, double pane windshield and front side windows.
Sounds about right but mine had the extended panoramic sunroof. And yes, didn’t have the nicer lights or the rear heated seats among the rest of the things you mention.
Don’t own a new gen yet but we have a 04 and a 2012 rx and they are the most comfortable, reliable vechicles I’ve ever owned. Even the 04 with150k mile runs and drives better than much newer suv I’ve driven
i have a 2019 with only 15k miles and the leather seats have a ton of wrinkling already. how do you keep your seats looking new? up until a year ago it was kept in a garage too but your seats look so smooth and new.
Honestly I did nothing. I actually found these seats kind of hard and firm and the leather not as soft as other premium offerings. For contrast, we had a Lexus SC300 and the leather was very very soft but prone to wrinkling and breaking. We don’t use covers etc but we are careful not to load heavy stuff directly onto the seats and take care getting in and out of the car as well to prevent stress damage from constant friction. 🤷🏻♂️
@@JuanCarlosLTO thats really odd. my seats are getting wrinkled prematurely. i guess i gotta be more careful then. thanks so much for the reply and content!
Nice review. I’m back and forth about a used Lexus versus a used Toyota SUV of some kind. I’m comparing cost but also what years are the best year(s) for a used car model. Your video was quite informative. Thanks for your great information 👍🏽; it was helpful.
I highly recommend this one as a used car model. My friend still has his 2019 RX350 and has had zero problems with it. You can’t go wrong with Toyota either. I always liked the Toyota Venza which critics agree is Lexus-like appointed and it’s a hybrid. It didn’t sell in big numbers but it is a great car to buy used although not cheap.
I plan to buy an SUV next month. And I'm thinking between Audi Q5, BMW X3 and RX350(which you mentioned in your video) Thanks for your review, it helps me make up my decision in some way!
I really like the Q5. I didn’t have the greatest experience with an A4 so in my opinion it doesn’t hold the reliability card of Lexus and/or the resale value. I like the X3 because it’s rear wheel drive based but I think it has the smallest interior of all 3 so I don’t know your particular needs but I don’t need a larger vehicle. Good luck with your car hunting
@@JuanCarlosLTO Thanks for your reply. I owned NX 300 before and I had great experience with it so I actuaclly prefer RX 350 out of 3. But I guess I'll try all of them at 4s shop before make the decision.
Before getting the Tesla we were waiting for the next generation NX that’s based on the new RAV4’s platform. Seeing the new Toyota Venza I would think that the NX will be a great choice for us since we don’t need the bigger RX…
Nice review! I bought a 2018 RX350 couple months back and love the vehicle so far. 2:02 I'm able to use my elbow if my hands are tied to open the trunk. Are you sure you had no luck without using the palm of your hand?
That’s what another subscriber told me as well, mine wasn’t as good with the hand gesture, kind of hit and miss. Good choice with going used on yours, I think I left out the part where I say that the RX is great for the used car market as it’s cheaper than new, body style is the same and is really reliable.
Someone else commented the same. I’m glad it worked for you, I was just never that lucky and often just opted to push the button. Thank you for your comment
Funny we just got this car today! We also tried the BMW x3 and we liked this one better. The bmw was a 2020. Hope it won’t give me any problems. Our Lexus is the same color as yours and same rims only the interior it’s call caviar.
The RX is a better used car purchase than the BMW. I’ve had many BMW’s and they fall apart after the initial warranty so they get pretty expensive to repair and keep on the road if you didn’t buy an extended warranty or bought it certified pre owned. The RX will last you a long, long time.
Great review. Gracias. I am about to purchase the 2021 RX350 F Sport. I wish I can shortcut the process and get a good price without the haggling. Years ago I used to call the Fleet Manager and deal directly with them but things have change. Any advice or video on how to get a good price for a new car? I have $10K down payment but I'm honestly turned off by the back and forth. Thanks.
Luis you’re not alone in that dealership haggling feeling. I hate it too! I usually reference Edmunds.com. They have a car pricing tool that gives you a reference on what people are paying on average for the vehicle you want. Sometimes is a little off though but, it’s a starting point. When buying the RX, think of the following: it’s a vehicle due for a redesign. Toyota/Lexus usually hold on to their redesigns more than other brands. The RX350 is riding on the same platform of the prior generation Toyota Highlander which saw a redesign on 2019. So my guess is that the new generation RX350 will come in mid 2022. So, a vehicle at the end of its cycle usually means better incentives, rebates and discounts. The only problem you may face is the fact that there’s a vehicle production delay at the moment and my guess is that dealers may be less willing to drop their prices on the RX. It’d say that if it wasn’t for that, you could get the RX for around 10% less than MSRP or around Invoice. If you live in a metropolitan area you might be able to get quotes from different dealerships. Good luck and sorry for the long reply
Fabulous and honest review. I think that you will miss your comfortable Lexus ride when you trade it in for the Tesla. In a couple of years Lexus will have fully EV models and possibly we will see you back in another Lexus review at this time 😊
You’re not wrong for guessing that. In other comments or videos I’ve said that although I don’t have any brand loyalty, my best ownership experiences have been with Toyota/Lexus. We’re enjoying our Model Y right but we’ll see in 3 years what’s out there and what manufacturers have for us then. Thank you for your comment
Yeah, not great right? I had a lifelong MPG of 21.5 but the efficiency or lack of is contingent on your driving patterns and habits. Most of the miles I put on my cars are highway miles. The 3.5 is a great engine but it’s thirsty too. I don’t know if yours already came with the 8 speed transmission mine did. I think yours is, not sure, a 6 speed.
My exact car color/interior except you didn't show the windows/sunroof roll down from outside by holding the unlock button I use it to release the indoor heat on extreme hot days
Pecioso y muy elegante color!!! Pedire que el emblema derecte los rostros para mayor comodidad tio!!! Padrisimo diseño con todo y los contras que no te pareciero bien ....ya nos haras otra reseña próximamente con tu auto nuevo
Is the RX 350 their medium size SUV? we are looking for a medium size just for my wife, my tern son and my 90lbs goldendoodle. We wanted to get the 450h just because its hybrid but even used is so expensive and I don't know we will be saving any money on long run by going with the hybrid compare to the rx 350? Also what used year do you recomend?
It is a midsize SUV with plenty of space for what you need it. For 2018 they added a third row version but that third row is cramped and not suited for adults on a longer trip plus it kills any storage room. Your spot on on the hybrid dilemma: expensive and it’d take you years to offset the extra money you spend on it. As far as what year to get: any generation is just as good but it grew a bit bigger for its fourth generation (2015-present). The generation before it is more of the size of the current NX. Have you looked into the Toyota Highlander? Same platform, powertrain… less money but obviously less premium feel. The latest generation Highlander is already on a newer platform as well.
Agreed the MPG is beyond unacceptable.. I have a 2020 & I’m getting 15 mpg.. owners should sue for the false EPA. It’s not even close to the EPA. Someone I know has a 2020 X5 M50i V8 turbo with 520hp. His MPG is way better than my car & he drives real aggressive.. The only good thing is the RX takes 87 octane.
Yes, the MPG is very disappointing. To give context, I’ve had other vehicles that are unacceptably far from the EPA numbers, like my 2006 Civic Si. The opposite? An Audi A4 Quattro that was rated at 29 I believe but would often get 32 MPG highway on longer trips. And yes, the fact that you can use 87 octane is a huge advantage over other premium brands. Thank you for your comment
Fun fact: that 2009 A4 was in a class lawsuit for excessive oil consumption 🤣... so what it made up in gas, went to engine oil. I only kept it for 1.5 years and 30k miles and it needed a quart of oil between oil changes
@@JuanCarlosLTO Thanks! you know I’ve owned several Volvo turbos in the past & that’s what happens with turbo engines usually ( oil consumption). Turbos end up being higher maintenance due to engine working more & heat. I noticed the most manufacturers are going turbo & the Germans are going 48volt mild hybrids will be on most cars with turbos. MB & Audi are doing it, I believe BMW is but not sure
BMW is doing it too. I mean, I get it, better fuel efficiency and car manufacturers today build cars for the first owner only so they don’t really care about longevity of their products. I still favor normally aspirated engines and traditional automatic transmissions vs CVT.
I believe it was the premium package with the Luxury package, Mark Levingson Premium Audio Package and the cold weather package. It wasn’t the top trim level which I think included the triple beam lights but it was up there. It had the power moonroof and aluminum rails too. It retailed for about 57k. Thank you for watching my video Stephanie
Wife and I were car shopping July 2020 and drove a new one. We were looking to trade her vehicle so would have been her’s. I had always wanted a Lexus and found them to not be as high priced as I thought, however, guess I had higher expectations and really was not that impressed and my wife wasn’t either. We actually purchased something I would not have expected and bought a 2020 Hyundai Palisade Limited. Drove better, sits and rides better and lots more standard equipment and we both love it. Was a little less money but not much. Great video Juan. Thanks.
I really like the Palisade, good choice! Hyundai/Kia/Genesis have been making great vehicles lately, I was eyeballing the upcoming GV70, gorgeous vehicle. I heard that for a while Hyundai couldn’t meet demand of the Palisade, that’s how popular it is. As far as the RX350, I’m a little bias, as Lexus is our favorite premium brand so the RX checked most of the boxes. Let’s see what Genesis does with the premium crossover segment. Thanks for your comment
I’d say, Hyundai/Kia vehicles always depreciate at a faster rate than Toyota/Lexus. Pure speculation: the Palisade/Telluride came out in the middle of the pandemic therefore I assume many paid over MSRP so I project a lot of these people are going to be upside down on their loans for longer than normal. I wonder what it will do to resale prices. 🤷🏻♂️
@@JuanCarlosLTO we traded our Palisade in October 2021 not planning on it for a 2022 Genesis GV70 Sport Prestige. For these reasons, wife loved the GV70 (and still does), got a GREAT trade at time and did not have to pay over MSRP for the Genesis. Had lot equity in Palisade and have lot in Genesis. Genesis first vehicle she has ever owned that not found something she didn’t like. She has zero complaints about it. If my wife is happy then so am I. I have a work vehicle provided to me but personally own a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado RST Z71 that I bought in November 2020 before Market went crazy. Have lot of equity in my truck and could sell a make lot of money but couldn’t replace it. I do think that Toyota and Lexus will hold their value but also think the Genesis will also.
I really like the GV70. So much that it was going to be our car. I kept pitching it to my wife as she’d be the daily driver. Remember that the debut got postponed. So the timing was wrong for us and went for the Model Y Performance. I do think there’s good choices outside of Toyota and Lexus… I’m actually waiting to see how we like the Mazda CX70. I want a RWD based crossover and Lexus doesn’t offer one that isn’t based on a truck. That’s why I like the GV70 so much. Congrats on your purchase
Sorry! I bought it new for 52k. Its MSRP was slightly above 57k. At the time I sold it it had about 33k miles and we loved it and highly recommend it in the used car market as Lexus are super reliable vehicles that do well beyond initial warranty.
The Fit & Finish with Lexus and second to none. Much better than a Tesla. The interior of this vehicle shows luxury unlike the Model y. The F sport is the way to go with this model.
Which Lexus do you have? I agree. Lexus are built like tanks and the interiors are durable. I actually test drove the F Sport RX back when I bought this one but the wife liked this trim better. I wanted white f sport with red interior. My best friend ended up buying the F Sport
Great choice! I really thought we would keep RX for a very long time but I just can’t seem to keep cars past 2-3 years. You’re good for years if you want to keep it. Could we say the same thing about MB or BMW?
Exactly. We live in California so the AWD will hardly ever kick in and it doesn’t enhance the driving dynamics the way the AWD system in the Audi with Quattro or the SH-AWD on Acura products.
Hey how's it going ? I currently have a 2017 RX 350 F Sport. It's a great and reliable car. Mt only grip is the engine. BMW has M and Mercedes has AMG. Wish it was a better performance engine in the suv. Give this about 350-400 HP !! I test drove a BMW X3 M40i that engine put you in your seat ! 382HP !!!
It’d be nice but the RX is a front wheel drive platform so it could never handle like the other 2 you mention. Reliability wise it will run laps around any BMW/MB product. Actually Lexus doesn’t have a product to compete with the Germans as the GX is truck based. Don’t take me wrong, I love how BMW’s drive and have had 4 of them but they aren’t reliable enough to own long term past initial warranty. My 1989 BMW 325i is still going strong at 227k miles but they don’t build them like that anymore.
I did. 2 weeks ago. We just wanted another RX350 and checked out both the hybrid and the non hybrid. We liked it but it felt different. Specially and obviously more so the hybrid. The droning was excessive. The turbo 4 was fine but it did make me long for the old normally aspirated V-6. Everything else was good. The interior is just as nice but updated and the exterior looks better IMO. We almost bought the hybrid version but there wasn’t one available and we had to wait about 2 months. One thing I wasn’t in love with is the fact that Lexus has changed the way they bundle their option and we couldn’t get what we wanted without having to get the higher trim levels. They have also itemized some options but again, they’re only available if you upgrade in trims. If I wanted to stay with Toyota/Lexus I would take a very close look at a nicely optioned Highlander and save a few bucks. Do you have one?
@@JuanCarlosLTO I have a 2018 RX350 near 100k mi, looked at a 2019 Highlander Bronze edition the other day for $40k, more than the RX is worth, think I'll keep the RX for now. The new RX exterior definitely looks better, but the turbo 4-banger is a concern.
I think you’re better off keeping the Lexus. I think it’s a better car than the 2019 Highlander. I just don’t see how it can be an upgrade to what you already have. As far as concerns with the 4 cylinder? I’m Toyota/Lexus bias but I don’t have any concerns with the new engine choice. The brand has a history of reliability that is beyond question. Sure, there’s always one but the trend is to go 4 cylinder with turbo and or hybrid… or electric 😑🤣
It is but, the hood is short and angularity is downward (meaning you hardly see any hood) Great visibility. The seat has height adjustment and the one I had had the telescopic power steering column so in short, the seating/driving position is highly customizable. Hopefully your wife can find the optimal position for her.
@@JuanCarlosLTO ok ,cool ! Thanks for the reply back , I know what I'm getting , so just have to have her test drive a few , think she'll like the rav 4
@johnbart8454 the RAV4 is a great choice as well. I love the current generation and it has so many different trim levels it’s easy to find the one that fits your needs.
@@JuanCarlosLTO I'll be getting the Toyota Sequoia platinum series ! Dig the 19 cup holders ! Lol.. plus the big arm rest storage area ! But mostly the strong V8 & longevity of the motor ! GM & the rest of them went to hell !!?? I liked the Tahoe but the fuel systems is bad & radiator & several other issues ! Plus to much electrical stuff to go wrong !!
@johnbart8454 you can’t go wrong with Toyota. My dad bought a Toyota Tundra back in 2001 and it still runs great. That v8 is indestructible. Tahoes are not that bad actually. I have plenty of experience with them and they can take a beating. They do have some shortcomings in the interior quality etc typical GM product and you’re right about electrical issues but the power train and suspension are surprisingly good. But yeah, my money would be on the sequoia
Those years had less trim levels than now. Mine was short of the very top version which had the nicer headlights and a couple of other things. My guess is yours is the base model. It’s got everything you need, more bang for your money.
That was my first choice when I started looking at the RX. The F Sport offers slightly more aggressive looks with the front splitter and the black cladding. The interior looks more sporty with the shift paddles and the brushed metal accents and the color scheme. It’s still an RX, but it does look less bland than the one we got eventually. My best friend has a white FSport with red interior and that’s probably my favorite combination
Oh, I don’t think I answered your question. No, i don’t think this is a man’s car. This is a family hauler that is comfortable and reliable! That doesn’t mean a man shouldn’t drive it, but I don’t think it is a man’s car in the traditional sense of the term.
It sounds really good. It’s the upgraded Mark Levingson. Remember that for that year it didn’t come with Apple CarPlay or Android Auto but the RX has great acoustics.
Hands free tailgate allows you to have your hands full & move your elbow towards the Lexus badge. I saw Brock Frady do it and it looked pretty simply. He was holding a plant, not something too bulky, so that made it obviously easier. I'd prefer that leg kick option but it's not horrible either.
The leg kick is better and honestly, for the time we had this one, the sensor wasn’t that quick to respond so I never used it as a first option. Great vehicle overall, BTW.
My wife had 17 MPG and I used fuel additives. I used Krogers additives first, then SeaFoam just to make sure. And the MPG went up to 21.1 then back down to 20.9 FYI.
Honestly, I really like the F Sport treatment on Lexus vehicles but I wasn’t in love with the fake engine sound fed through the sound system. I do, however, like the aesthetic touches of it like the red interior, alloy pedals, and the body accessories. Thanks for your comment
Awesome review. Just what I was looking for. Also, something to keep in mind for future videos - the periodic like/comment sound throughout the video was pretty distracting and took away the engagement of the review. Besides that keep up the great work, need more genuine reviews like this out there.
Thanks for the advice. I’ve actually lowered the volume of it for other videos so will keep that in mind. As far as the review, it is my honest review, these are great vehicles and although I have no brand loyalty, this is my 3rd Lexus and fourth Toyota product and probably won’t be my last. I was hoping that the NX would be available by the time I was due for a replacement...
Hi Chris, I’d try Edmunds.com. It’s a great starting point. My guess is that you can get a good deal, close to invoice as the redesign is near. One thing that might work against you is the shortage of vehicles due to production delays currently.
If I remember correctly the highest trim would get you the triple beam lights and different wheels among other things. They’re a rare sighting though. Nowadays you can get the lights as a stand alone option.
I can only compare it to our prior vehicle: 2018 RX350. If the RX was a 2, this is a 3.5? Maybe, I’m not an expert at rating this. The RX was quiet and smooth, this is not that. The 21” wheels with the low profile tires don’t help. The lack of an option to close the massive sunroof doesn’t help either. I remember that in our RX I would close the sunroof cover for quietness during a phone call through Bluetooth. I don’t know if you follow Alex on Autos but he’s one of the best at rating cabin noise with actual stats and comparisons. More context: louder modern vehicles I’ve owned? 2011 Nissan Juke, loud (8). 2009 Honda Civic Loud (8)
🤣 sorry Blocked Account I thought this comment was on my Tesla Model Y video. Noooo 😑 this is a quiet smooth ride, the highlight of this car is how smooth it drives. A solid 2. The height and shape of any suv has a toll on its quietness... but this one is quiet.

@@JuanCarlosLTO I have one and I think it's worth it for sure. Mine is a 07 with 200k miles. I drove my Lexus thru a flood.. like 4ft deep water, and she made it 😂
Haha. Back in college I had a 1988 Toyota pick up, 4 cyl, manual transmission. I lifted it, big tires etc and put over 200k miles and sold it running perfect. Toyota/Lexus are super reliable, long lasting
@@JuanCarlosLTO yeah I got my Lexus to drive my bulldogs around....and I got hooked instantly 😂 .best daily drivers ever! This way I can save my classics for the summer time. I love the old Pontiacs and Buick
Yeah man, we have to go way back to drive something with true character. My 1989 BMW isn’t a classic but it’s my daily and I love driving it. From Buick I like the Grand National and from Pontiac the original Firebird and for sure the 4 door G8.
I test drove the RDX and the super handling AWD is amazing. But I don’t think that the same person that it’s looking at a Macan is also considering a RX. A nicely equipped Macan gets expensive quick.
Do you mean the RX350 with the F Sport package? If so, I test drove it and I really liked it but my wife liked this one better. My friend did buy the F Sport white with red interior, looks really nice
@Juan Carlos LTO I have the F Sport in Matador Red with Black Interior . Series 3 means it's the fully loaded package. I got extras like side running boards, led illuminated steps, side trim and front deflector bra. Love the car. I have a 2018 and battery needs to be replaced now. Only issue so far.
@Juan Carlos LTO Yes. I have those! Awesome. One thing I noticed is to lower the backseat you have to lift a lever, but I have buttons that do that. Also, I noticed you have an analog speedometer and tachometer, and I got the digital ones. I paid extra but these little things make the interior that much more enjoyable.
Yes, the top versions of the RX do climb up dramatically in price for an SUV that starts in the high 40’s. As far as complex electronics, I do believe that it’s with any vehicle in the segment and in my experience Lexus’ models tend to be more reliable long term.
I love your take on it because some people have dinged me here for saying that. Just because I said the real life MPG isn’t great it doesn’t mean it’s a bad car. I love Lexus, we’ve had 3 of them and will probably get another one one day… but yes, that 3.5 V6 is a legendary workhorse but efficient it’s not.
That has been my experience with other Lexus/Toyota products. I drove a truck past 250k and sold it running perfectly. The tires have a monitor and the pressure was always on point. The 3.5 engine is not the easiest on gas.
Too late 🤣. So far so good. Nothing in my experience is as reliable as a Toyota/Lexus... so I’m prepared for it. I hardly keep any vehicle out of warranty and this Tesla won’t be the exception. I do hate taking my cars to the dealership for warranty claims. We’ll see how it goes with the Y. Thank you for watching my video.
Tesla When I need fuel, I want it to be available! I watch the electric vehicles lined up and waiting for a port at the fuel station on the New Jersey Turnpike. I’m not ready for electric and electric is not ready for me!

The only downside the fuel consumption 20-25 miles to the UK gallon, less if you are a sporty driver, the time has now come for another Lexus, I think I will try the NX300H
.

Great and honest review for our regular viewers who are not fanboys for any automakers.
Wow! You really got my point! That’s exactly how I feel! We pay too much for these cars to be fanboys. I have absolutely no brand loyalty but my best experiences have been with Lexus/Toyota products but I have owned many brands, domestic, Asian, European.

Hi Juan thank you for your great indepth review. My wife and I are in the market for a RX350. I like the color of the interior seats. We like the F sport but don't like the red seats.
I plan on getting one of these around the end of the year. Such a beautiful car.
Well, you’re getting a great vehicle that will last!
Elbow and arm work just fine.
Thanks for sharing this video.. planning on purchasing a used one.
You're welcome Joel. I actually edited out a part where I say that this is THE vehicle to purchase used as it should continue to be very reliable beyond initial warranty. Let someone else take the depreciation hit from buying it new.
This was incredibly helpful and I finally ordered my 2021 RX 450h F last week!
Thanks Longfellow! You’ll love it. When are you expecting delivery?
Juan Carlos, the equivalent BMW would not be the X3, but the X5. I know that because I had an X5 and now have an RX350. The difference is, the Lexus is made to last, the others are not. I will have my RX350 for many years to come.
Hi Jeff, you’re right about it size wise but the X5 is much more expensive than the RX. And yes, that was our plan when we opted for the RX350, keep it for many years beyond warranty expiration.
Great vehicle, very reliable… it don’t be my last Lexus, that is for sure.

It’s pretty cool but doesn’t feel as premium as ours.

i have a '19 with 15k miles currently and my leather seats have worn terribly. they have a ton of wrinkles in it. how are yours?
Depends on your needs and want your RX to be. AWD or FWD your choice. On many cases they knew.
DID a video on my 2014 RX 350 and show how much it has worn over the years but i love the car overall !
Since we're considering a Lexus RX 350 but hybrid your video is still helpful , thx

I just bought a ‘17 F Sport, I found this video to be extremely informative. Thank you sir!
Great choice. My friend bought a 2018 back then, F Sport, white exterior, red interior; gorgeous
Thank you, Juan. You covered a lot of my questions! Good job.

Thanks man! My third Lexus and I’m sure it won’t be my last.
The Tesla Model Y rides like horse drawn buggy, the ride is bumpy like hell! I test drove it, returned and never opened a web page or catalog with a Tesla ever again. Get the Audi Q5, you will not be disappointed.

Great review! Really insightful!

Thanks S Harris! It was a great SUV to us.

Nice car & Happy to see you again :)

Interesting that they did change from the rear emblem wave opener to the foot kick opening you mentioned.
They did? Great, the wave is pretty useless. I think I first saw the kick method on Ford products years back.

@@JuanCarlosLTO Reliability was a big factor in my decision. I don't plan to get rid of this vehicle at all given it doesn't fall apart on me.

We’re enjoying our Model Y right but we’ll see in 3 years what’s out there and what manufacturers have for us then.

hey y’all! Just wondering what’s your RX350’s gas mileage? I have a 2012 RX350, mixed driving (mostly city…) is 13.8mi/gal (~17l/100km)

Hi can you tell us what sunglasses you have? They look great
They’re from Prada. Thanks!
@@JuanCarlosLTO yea but my wife wants a mid size Lexus suv. It sounds like the rx350 will be a good fit.
I don’t think there’s anything else in the premium segment market that matches the reliability, build quality of the RX.
@@JuanCarlosLTO I’ve heard the subaru cvt isn’t bad only if they didn’t simulate fake gear shifts
Juan what package is this? The Luxury package?
I am curious about trade value and long term reliability of this vehicle. 5 year old Hyundai Palaside versus five year old Lexus RX 350.
Nice review.. however, I was waiting for milage and price you bought and what would it cost these days?
Sorry! I bought it new for 52k. Its MSRP was slightly above 57k. At the time I sold it it had about 33k miles and we loved it and highly recommend it in the used car market as Lexus are super reliable vehicles that do well beyond initial warranty.
The interior is so much better than the 2015
Agree. The one on the 2015 was a very weak point.
I love the grill. My copy is white.
White is my favorite color. Pretty forgiving… most of my cars have been white
I think the Lexus grill is awesome, you know it’s a Lexus.
That’s true. I see it got a bit smaller for 2023.
@@JuanCarlosLTO RX 350 F Sport
Great choice! I really thought we would keep RX for a very long time but I just can’t seem to keep cars past 2-3 years. You’re good for years if you want to keep it. Could we say the same thing about MB or BMW?
is it worth it to get the 4WD? like he said it only kicks in when traction is needed which is like never where i live
Exactly. We live in California so the AWD will hardly ever kick in and it doesn’t enhance the driving dynamics the way the AWD system in the Audi with Quattro or the SH-AWD on Acura products.
Honest review
Thanks Ron!
Esta super bonito :) si convienen las llantas grandes 👍🏼
Sí amiga, aguanta los banquetazos 🤣
La Tesla no aguanta banquetasos?
No 😭 ya le di uno
Did you test drive the new RX and what's your opinion?
I have a question for you ! My wife is 5 ft tall , will she be able to see the end of the hood & road close to her ? Driver side dash looks high up
It is but, the hood is short and angularity is downward (meaning you hardly see any hood) Great visibility.
I don't have the memory seats or HUD. I think mine is even less than a base model somehow. Everything else looks the same.
Those years had less trim levels than now. Mine was short of the very top version which had the nicer headlights and a couple of other things. My guess is yours is the base model. It’s got everything you need, more bang for your money.
What’s the MPG you get?
On this one was about 21 MPG combined city and highway. What about you?
@@JuanCarlosLTO Thanks for your quick response. I don’t own one. But thinking of either buy this or an ES
Either one is a great choice. The ES will be better on gas for sure.
@@JuanCarlosLTO i got rx450h and 26mpg for nyc.
That’s actually not bad... like 20% better than the non hybrid? Plus I’m guessing it might be a little quicker from a dead stop.
What do you think about the new Lexus UX?
I mean NX.
Siempre me gustó Lexus y en negro es muy chuli. Feliz día amigo !
Saludos Mayka!
Looking at a 2017 Fsport RX. Would you consider this a mans car?
What is the stereo like?
It sounds really good. It’s the upgraded Mark Levingson. Remember that for that year it didn’t come with Apple CarPlay or Android Auto but the RX has great acoustics.
What year is it?
2018. Thank you for your comment
Nice I'm looking into purchasing one .
@@truearies3075 you won’t regret it. Specially if you are looking at long term ownership.
I have the 2019 Atomic Silver with the parchment leather. The vehicle performs well.
Awesome combination, that silver is way easier to keep clean and is pretty classy as well
@@JuanCarlosLTO i am getting nori green color or atomic silver in 2024
but not the L model just the base one / simple one
I particularly don’t like the L too much but hey, if people really need that third row…
I’m not a big fan of fuel additives. I used to use them when I drive beaters decades ago. I’m glad they worked for you
If you opted for the 20 inche tires.you should have gotten the Fsport trim.
I meant the NX redesign

He looks like a retired Mexican capo that now lives comfortable in the us
Haha 😂
Well done review.
Thanks Tom!
How much should I expect to pay for a new 350 AWD F sport, can anyone help me?
Hi Chris, I’d try Edmunds.com. It’s a great starting point. My guess is that you can get a good deal, close to invoice as the redesign is near. One thing that might work against you is the shortage of vehicles due to production delays currently.
And I really like that trim... white for me with red interior.
Somewhere in the ballpark of $58K.
My favourite car❤
Lexus is my favorite brand. And I’ve owned a few. That was my third Lexus
@@JuanCarlosLTO Fantastic. 🎉
Your vehicle is pretty loaded, im surprised you dont have the triple beam headlights
If I remember correctly the highest trim would get you the triple beam lights and different wheels among other things. They’re a rare sighting though. Nowadays you can get the lights as a stand alone option.
Do you lease your vehicle?
No, we bought it and financed it.
How do you rate road noise on highway on a scale of 1 to 10 , ( 10 being worse )
@@JuanCarlosLTO are you saying older RX 350 are much more smoother and quieter than the new once ? What year is the model you just reviewed ?
RX was a 2018.
@@JuanCarlosLTO so what are you comparing it to ? 2018 rx 350 vs ??
🤣 sorry Blocked Account I thought this comment was on my Tesla Model Y video. Noooo 😑 this is a quiet smooth ride, the highlight of this car is how smooth it drives. A solid 2. The height and shape of any suv has a toll on its quietness... but this one is quiet.
Is this car still for sale
No, i sold it to Carmax. Thank you for watching my video.
Muy hermosa tu camioneta amigo, saludos
Next review you might want to step back 2 steps so we can see the car rather then just black paint.
Noted! Sorry Paul, I’m just getting the hang of it with car videos. They’re extremely difficult to shoot for an amateur like me.
Thank you for your comment
@@JuanCarlosLTO That's what I thought your doing a good job keep it up!
How much are you asking?
I sold it to Carmax after I made this video. Thank you for watching my video
Get the 400H FTW!
At the time it was considerably more expensive. A lot; otherwise a great vehicle.
I get 32 to 28.mpg on rx450h fsport consistently never seen under 28 mpg
What’s the EPA rating on it? Sad to see this great engine go.
@@JuanCarlosLTO 28 hwy and 31 city
@@bladerunna2022 that’s great! Yeah, the 6 cylinder is gone for good for 2023.
I would take the Porsche Macan or Acura RDX. Not impressed with the Lexus for 65k expected more.
I test drove the RDX and the super handling AWD is amazing. But I don’t think that the same person that it’s looking at a Macan is also considering a RX. A nicely equipped Macan gets expensive quick.
Lexus will outlast tesla. Wouldn’t want to keep changing out a battery that cost 20k
True! Me neither 🤣
@juan if you sell let me know I want to buy your car
Oh I sold it a long time ago. Great vehicles
I have the Series 3 F Sport. It has a few more features.
Do you have the triple beam lights as well? Those are cool. Mine didn’t have them
@Juan Carlos LTO Yes. I have those! Awesome. One thing I noticed is to lower the backseat you have to lift a lever, but I have buttons that do that. Also, I noticed you have an analog speedometer and tachometer, and I got the digital ones. I paid extra but these little things make the interior that much more enjoyable.
Of course they do. Everything adds to the experience. Great SUV’s!
I would never pay 65k for a new Lexus RX350 way overpriced. Too many complex electronics that when break out of warranty cost a lot to fix!
Yes, the top versions of the RX do climb up dramatically in price for an SUV that starts in the high 40’s. As far as complex electronics, I do believe that it’s with any vehicle in the segment and in my experience Lexus’ models tend to be more reliable long term.
2:02 you can use your elbow. it doesnt have to be your hand.
I hate the giant fish grill on new Lexus and Acura cars. BMW and Audi did that crap too which ruin the looks of these cars.
They just keep getting bigger! 🤣. It started with Audi and now most manufacturers are doing it.
I love my 2021 and it is a beautiful car…. TERRIBLE gas mileage!! It sucks but I’ve gotten used to it.
2:00 You don't need to touch it and just move your elbow in front of it if your hands are full. Problem solved!
I would do that but sometimes it wouldn’t work 🤷🏻♂️
The reason ur getting bad mileage is because ur tires are flat buddy
They were within tolerance.
@@JuanCarlosLTO Doesn't sound right bud. That car you have will last you 150k before you have to touch it except oil and window wiper fluid
That has been my experience with other Lexus/Toyota products. I drove a truck past 250k and sold it running perfectly. The tires have a monitor and the pressure was always on point. The 3.5 engine is not the easiest on gas.
No sound
I do ..not ..like the new front of the lexus ...horrible ..looks like a semi coming down the road .. Not a nice car look
Haha. To each their own. Grills keep getting bigger and bigger 🤷🏻♂️
Model Y about reliability? Think twice!

When I need fuel, I want it to be available!
I watch the electric vehicles lined up and waiting for a port at the fuel station on the New Jersey Turnpike.
I’m not ready for electric and electric is not ready for me!
