Lexus RX was the best selling luxury SUV in US last year.
Dave, the pros and cons along with the recommendations for alternative SUV's was about as fair as any I've ever heard. This is coming from a guy who's a long time Lexus fan and current owner of a 2017 RX350. The comfort and reliability far outweigh any other valid negatives you pointed out.
Oh come on - NOBODY in their right mind would recommend a Jeep Grand Cherokee. EVER. It is a piece of junk, and everyone knows it. And I don't care if your Uncle Fred had one for 18 years and never changed the oil; it's junk. Therefore he is not credible.

I am actually looking at hopefully if my dealership I work at which is a bmw dealership we have a 19 RX awd and if they can trade in our 19 terrain denali for the RX even my wife like the RX also by the pictures and the video I sent her how do you like yours

I'm on my 3rd RX, first Hybrid. These are some of the best cars on the road- I've had zero issue mechanically or otherwise. Can't wait for the 2020 upgrades- Apple CarPlay and new touchscreen. European models can't compete with Lexus for reliability and re-sale value. Purchase time!
Waiting for 2020, it finally gets Carplay, Android Auto and touch screen. Also no more mouse knob and more usb ports.

We have a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee and a 2008 Lexus RX350. My dad will be replacing the Grand Cherokee with a Lexus when it finally goes because the Lexus is just that much more reliable and comfortable.

I just bought my custom-ordered 2019 RX 350 a few days ago. I did much research first, and decided that this vehicle was the best choice for me. There is no perfect automobile, but I wanted safety, reliability and comfort, and I believe this RX will give me all that. So far I'm very happy with my RX.

It’s between the RX and the Lincoln Nautilus for me. Nautilus seems to be a lot more bang for the buck. If I could just get over stereotypes. The only thing the Lexus has going for it is the reliability reputation.

Its getting to the point now that if you are thinking about holding on to your SUV beyond the warranty, there are really only 2 options MDX and RX 350
And CX-5/9 even though it is not a luxury brand.
@chak lee my neighbor's i328, on the clock almost when warranty expired; power steering system, furl pump, AC, four shocks/struts and a bent wheel. And he babies that car, 52k for a 2013.

Is the RX 350 their medium size SUV? we are looking for a medium size just for my wife, my tern son and my 90lbs goldendoodle. We wanted to get the 450h just because its hybrid but even used is so expensive and I don't know we will be saving any money on long run by going with the hybrid compare to the rx 350? Also what used year do you recomend?
Pillow softness suspension it's just like driving in luxury and you feel so comfortable with this SUV you can easily fall asleep and fall in love with her. 😍
2020 RX will be refresh and the best part CarPlay and no more joystick.

Why would I want to pull a horse trailer with a Lexus that's what Fords and Chevys are for. However no connections for rear seat passengers is disappointing
The RX is not a tow vehicle. If you need to tow anything, use a properly equipped pickup truck of your choice.
And the Audi Q5 is sooo expensive to operate ( premium fuel @ $1.00 per gallon above regular fuel), and service expenses, which eclipse those of the Lexus RX by far. I'll stick with Lexus.

It won't downshift unless you floor it (yes, I know. Mpg efficiency); upshift way too early then downshift when there is any incline. During traffic, it hunts for gear🤬

You missed another negative - no option for rear climate controls. I'd even be happy with just one zone for the rear. Not acceptable for a luxury SUV IMHO.

If you want to keep your SUV more than 3 years, the BMW will nuke itself & your wallet as collateral damage. But the Lexus will just keep going & going & going……
The X5 is more of a Drivers car but get an extended warranty, if you get one and sell it before the warranty expires.
You mentioned Audi as an alternative. Not sure based on what? Cost, size, resale, reliability. I prefer the Audi’s look but nit sure about the rest.

MDX is nowhere near the RX350. I've driven both and Lexus is the choice one should make out of all the luxury SUVs on the market !

Build quality is great on this thing but i couldnt force myself to make the purchase. I went with a MDX Hybrid for better the driving dynamics.

While I love the quiet and smooth ride of the RX, I really find the lacking tech and the sloping rear to be deal breakers. The other luxury, and non-luxury players have really beating Lexus with tech and safety features. I'm not a Hyundai Palaside or Kia Telluride customer - but both of those give Lexus a run for it's money in quality and really put Lexus to shape with tech. I'm currently shopping for a replacement vehicle for my lease and the Mercedes GLE 450 has great tech and a good ride with the optional suspension packages but doesn't match the quality of the Lexus it materials or overall peacefulness. The BMW X5 has a great engine, tech, and great acceleration. Even the Audi Q7/Q8 offer so much more in tech and features than the Lexus SUVs. I personally believe when Genesis launches their GV80 next year it will really increase the pressure for the value luxury SUVs (which seems to be where Lexus is trying to position itself with the current RX). I really like the low cost of the Lexus RX compared to BMW and Mercedes (even the lower models mentioned in this video), but that low price comes with far too many shortcomings for me.
There is no significant tech missing from this car, especially in a couple of months when it gets the final piece of the puzzle (Carplay and Android). Your hyperbole aside, there is nothing missing here except a USB port here and an air vent there.

The 2019 Lincoln Nautilus compares better to the RX than some of those mentioned. With the 2.7T engine, it has 335 HP and 380 ft/lb torque which blows away the competition. Both Exterior and Interior are way more elegant too. JMO though.

Negative and why I won't buy; the center stack is WAY too wide and tall and prevents me from moving my right leg on a road trip, say on cruise control. I feel soooo boxed in in this car.
Exactly how big are you? Perhaps that's the problem, not the car, because there is PLENTY of room in the front.
@@mrsj1417 Mrs - can you move your right leg, to the right? I'm not big at all and the high and wide center console prevents me from doing so. This is a trend in car design.... the consoles have are now very high and wide, needlessly making the driver very boxed in.
Jeep makes cool trucks and stuff, but i've seen fairly new Jeeps Cherokees and or Durangos taping valves... they may be cool, confy but def not reliable.

Not a fan of the front grill. Lexus/Toyota need to offer Carplay/Android Auto on all vehicles. I would not purchase a vehicle without Carplay.
Yeah, that grill is hideous, I just don't understand why Lexus stays with it. To get a good quality car I'll overlook a lot of style issues, but that grill is pretty close to being a deal breaker.

Agreed - I'm looking around for a luxury SUV to use as a limo, and the leg room isn't actually all that good. (if I did get a Lexus, it would be the RX450HL, but it has the same leg room I think)

Because it's quieter. Because it rides better. Because it has more weld points and therefore won't rattle as much in 5 years. Because the engine and transmission are 150 years old and therefore likely won't have any issues. Because it's a luxury car, not a Hyundai. Because some people like vanilla ice cream and some like chocolate. Because if buying a car was a non-emotional purchase we'd all be driving Corollas, which is all 99% of drivers need.

Audi Q5 2.0 just feels way underpowered compared to V6 in Lexus and that engine has lots of known problems. Their 3.0 TSFI engine is much better both in terms or power and reliability if you want an Audi.
Really? I had the opposite experience. I have the 2019 RX450hL and it feels dead slow to me. 0-60 in 7.7 seconds while the Audi does it in 5.9. Pretty much the same as Mercedes GLC Turbocharged 4 cylinder.
Lexus F Sport is a joke. It's pretty much just styling. If you want speed, you're going to have to look the german counterparts. Audi SQ5, GLE AMG, X5 M.

My wife just got a company car and I took over her 2019 RX 350 and got rid of my 2015 Mercedes ML 350. Big mistake on my part, the RX 350 looks decent and I am sure it will be reliable but it is boring vehicle to drive. Very poor acceleration, especially for a vehicle with a 3.5 liter V-6, feels and sounds like a 4 cylinder Camry. I would say the ride is just ok but there is a fair amount of road noise that is annoyng for a supposedly luxury vehicle. I would not purchase this vehicle again.
The Q5 is not in any way comparable to the RX350.
Lexus needs a all new because this model is 7+ year old. I have 2019 Lexus RX 350 f-sport and love it. However NO CarPlay. Quiet smooth great however more steering feel would be great
The current body style of the RX was introduced worldwide in October of 2015 for the 2016 model year. The refresh will be out in late 2019. Full redesigns happen every 6 years on this model.

Ive been driving my Lexus 350 for 6 months now. Its the non sport version. I absolutely cant stand it. Responsiveness and engine power reminds me of a toyota corolla.
The sensors are the most annoying things ever. Beep everytime you go through a drive through. Ive had my brakes slam a couple times for no reason.
The 3 modes you can drive in are all the same...just with different torque kicks. Simply a bad joke.
The gas mileage is awful.
The music setup is super inconvenient. The user flow of the screen menus are garbage. The app my lexus came with has one star...rightfully so.
Just an all around bad vehicle. I will never buy another lexus after i turn this piece of crap overrated thing in!

Omg I can’t agree with you more! I had the RX 330 for 10 years and it was the most reliable, comfortable car I’ve ever driven. The ride was a dream! I bought the RX 350 last June (first brand new car I’ve ever bought) and it pales in comparison to the 330 (which I wish I kept). I love Lexus, don’t get me wrong, but they cut corners with this one. I feel every bump and every turn. It’s even worse for passengers! Everyone who rides in it feels the same thing. BTW, you can turn all those sensors off that bug you in the drive thru. It’s on the steering wheel controls but your manual can show you as well. I kind like mine but can see how it would annoy someone. I’m seriously considering selling mine this year. What a huge driving disappointment!

That's why there is a thing called test drive .. to buy the vehicle and then complain about the way the transmission normally functions says more about you
