With only 400 miles done on average per year bearings components will wear when not being used because of lack of usage. That's why we see Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Aston Martins etc with 10k needing rebuilds at lower intervals, because they aren't being driven enough!!

Maybe I am biased because I have travelled 66 times around the sun, but modern "sports cars" do not evoke the same emotions in me, like this specific Aston. Thanks Iain for showing us this classic beauty.
I love this style of Aston, such a brutish good looking car and such a beast. A dodgy water pump after 25 years is minor in the whole scheme of owning this beauty. Thanks for sharing.
Like a Bentley , on steroids! Remember meeting Roger Towers , the Aston Martin historian, at Newport Pagnell, whilst having a tour of the factory, circa 1998. He spoke of the V8 with great affection, and the fact you could potter it around town without a hiccup, no oiling up of plugs , no low speed misfire , absolutely no problems , then floor the throttle once out of town it would soar down the road without a puff of smoke or drama, magnificent engine, completely un flustered.
What a beautiful car! What else do the Brits have up their sleeve? Thank you Ian and company! A special thank you to Harry’s Garage for helping to bring us Tyrell’s Classics.
this car is the most beautiful car ever made .its the car i had a big picture on my wall ,and still love it ,not one of those Italian things .its a true muscle car in looks ,power, and stance
This was my no 1 UK Super Car too. Could not afford it. But life graced me with another UK special small series production sports car; A BAC MONO 2018, 2.5L. I love it. Have driven it up and down Sweden, a couple of trackdays, in total about 10.000KM. Rolls like a Rolex, just rolls on without hiccups. Superb UK technology! The Briggs Brothers in Liverpool certainly know what they do! Looking forward to their new releases 20204-2026.
I did enjoy a lot! Although I rather like the 550 too. OMG First world problem, that I will never get LOL Thanks MrT! It was a wonderful video! Now to the next!
Such a stunning colour from the 1990s and what a glorious sound. At the time, around the mid 1990s, shades of teal and cyan were quite popular over here for a while and quite some marques did offer something similar. Whenever I see a classic in it, my heartbeat still does go up from sheer joy. Such a contrast of what is popular today, although some distinctive colours seem to have returned on the road here, such as copper, lime, light blue and red. Thank you so much again Ian for a new delightful upload. Happy Easter 🐰🥚🎁
On the water pump failure when you were explaining that I was also thinking for 25 or 30 years it's been under pressure - those bearings. You restore so many low mileage exotics but I would venture to say that time is also a factor in component wear. Thanks for another great video that was both entertaining and educational Oh - one other thing. I'm really surprised at the difficulty in servicing such simple things in relatively modern cars these days. I have a 2011 Mercedes-Benz E class and to change the windshield washer tank I had to jack up the front of the car, take the wheel off and take the fender lining off just to get to the tank On another channel this shop owner from Kansas is showing us a modern Audi that needed a simple thermostat change and the whole front end of the car was disassembled to access it. Hats off to the mechanics these days that have to work under those conditions
Love these Aston Martins. Muscular and at the same time refined styling. The ZF 6 speed looks to be the same design used in Corvettes from 89 to 96. Google says ZF s6-40. Corvette and Aston both ran T-56s in the late 90s to 2000s. Both reliable transmissions, Shifting the ZF was a bit bulky with the factory Corvette shifter. Like the air bags, 6 speeds were rather new in the 90s. Air bags were not as tightly packaged as they are now as they are now, quite new technology. Aston needed to comply with national standards on a budget, compromises were made to keep selling cars. Lotus and other small batch hand built cars did the same. 20 years earlier it was bumpers and crash standards giving the stylists a challenge. I don't think I'd be staring at the steering wheel if I was fortunate to own one. Looks like a comfy spot to enjoy a grunty V8.
Thanks for sharing that beautiful car again. As for a mere 550 bhp, I can get myself in trouble with only 320, and that’s split across a car and a motorbike! Great video, thanks again.
I remember the glorious ever increasing whine of the Roots/ Eaton M90 (?) blowers mixed with the burble of the V8 under acceleration, a lifelong Memory for me when visiting Tickford Street. Thank you for such a memory in this video Ian.
That poor cyclist must be getting used to Iain blasting past him on the acceleration straight. He seems to be in every video! Also, nice to see Iain co-ordinating his trouser colour with the car again 😉. This has to be one of the most informative and engaging channels on YT; Top Gear for the thinking man.
Perfect timing, favourite thing about a Sunday. Thanks for doing what you do Mr Tyrell I almost forgot, that Aston is stunning and is definitely one of my favourite old Aston shapes.

Iain Tyrrell, as British as the Aston Martin 🤗 One thing I noticed is how “civilized” the Aston Martin sounded. No big roar, just a pleasent whine from the super chargers.
I totally agree with Iain. This car is very Special, and with everything. It is the power, the Design and it peeks wirh how rare it is. By tje way, to me this Aston martin Green is by far the Most Beautyfull.
Utterly glorious.... Saw one in Towcester back in the day finished in red (it was definitely a Vantage don't know whether it was a Le Mans but boy did it look special). Have met a few times through a mate Kingsley Riding-Felce who was the MD of Aston Works. A fascinating guy but shares a love of tractors yep. I said that out loud.... So long as it goes suck squeeze bang blow who cares....
Had the same view as LJK Setright with turbos past - where the delay could be measured using an egg timer. Current turbo equipped engines are very different with essentially negligible to nil lag.
Great car, I could watch this for hours, when Jayemm tested a Vantage similar to this he found it quite pokey inside, he didn't quite have enough room, that made wonder a bit because Jeremy Clarkson tested the original ones back in 1993, he's 6'5" , I can't remember him having trouble fitting in one, although Jeremy was quite a long thin build back then whereas Jayemm is short legged and big bodied, it kind of worried me a little, because if I ever won the lottery this would be first on the shopping list, but I worry I won't fit, I'm 6 foot and over 20 stone, I've heard u say you're 6 foot, so how comfortable was you driving it, you never raised it as an issue, thank you for the great video, Happy Easter

To the waterpump problem: it got loud, but its not leaking! 👍 Thank you so much for this video - I really forgot this supercar over the years!
I agree with your reasoning to justify the water pump failure. Also, you need to factor in the fact it’s 25 years old. Time is also a factor.
Agree even cars at rest in storage will find the oil degrades…. And if you put the age factor in it’s not unexpected in my opinion. Water pumps fail today especially with the modern plastic variant, never understood that invention… apart from cost to manufacture being its existence.
That pump has had water/coolant against its seals for 25+ years fiat-> ferrari replace the pump, blame father time not the car.
@@Tracertme Not only things like fluids degrading but also seals drying out through lack of use and lubrication.
