I still remember Doug's Vantage "bumper to bumper warranty"
Yeah those were the days
Beautiful memories, you can’t forget his FAMOUS Land Rover “bumper to bumper warranty”
OGs remember...also the Range Rover. Car Max still hates him.
I've been feeling dejavu' all day today. Did Doug re-upload his old car video? Or maybe had buyers remorse and bought it back? 🤔
th-cam.com/video/qaEjAO8E4IE/w-d-xo.html
So many flashbacks with this thumbnail. I was shocked when it said 27 minutes ago instead of 8 years ago like I was expecting, I love how Doug's come full circle.
I swear, if Doug reviewed again a Nissan S-Cargo or Cube, which he owned, I would definitely freak out.
Those were the days...
@@christianabad9982 Nissan Cube 😂
@@christianabad9982Nissan S-Cargo looks like upgraded Nissan March 12S.
Doug is the kind of guy to review the same car multiple times just because this time it's on CARS AND BIDS!
Doesn't sound like a great guy tbh
Im wondering if he charges a fee for a review on his channel so it can sell for more in cars and bids
@@Caamhobart No he doesn't. This Vantage is mine
Yeah he also is the same guy recently, to review overly expensive vehicles that no body really wants.
I have begging him to do a Honda Accord.
But he did the Integra so I’ll give him that!
I was thinking the same thing
These mid 00s astons aged beautifully , unless you're a car geek you wouldn't believe they are 20 year old cars
They are absolutely beautiful.
Ever since they left Ford, they’ve had a renaissance of what their cars should really look like, sound like, and perform like. Aston Martin has been the name of excellence for a long time.
So did Jaguar
And I agree on the point he made about the very first models being the better looking ones. I feel the same way about Audi R8 Typ42 before it received an engine update.
@@mrlookagain1142so too are Nissan with R35GTR, Chevrolet with 2009 Corvette C6 ZR1, and Ford with 2006 Ford GT.
I feel like were being click-baited by thumbnail showing him OUTSIDE with the car, then to be disappointed he's in his dungeon.
Why is he always doing that?
Why does it matter? The audio quality is clearly better in the studio
I really don't like the underground carpark/garage videos.
The background just seems so dark and grungy. Maybe it'd look better if it was painted a nice white with some art work or posters on the walls.
What? There's terrible echo. @@alamandrax
I don't understand if he's already outside with the car, why can't he just do the review right there?
Coincidentally, the first repair bill will also be the cost of a new small crossover.
Isn’t it lovely
Not really, they're fairly reliable as far as british cars can go
@@blackshadow7192I have seen a video where a mechanic said , Aston Martins are more expensive to maintain than Ferrari , Bentley , jaguars etc...
@@milans3747 Massively untrue. Ferrari especially are far more expensive to maintain. These vantages are parts bin specials and are fairly bulletproof. They have a timing chain which is great and lots of their parts are from Ford, Volvo and Jaguar. You see a few of these online with some serious mileage. Their only downfall is on the electrical side of things but that will be the same for pretty much every car from this era.
Funny, I’ve had mine 3 years and the only things I’ve fixed are the door struts and an alarm sensor (battery had gone bad after 18 years). Total in parts was under $500. Outside routine maintenance, which has also been pretty cheap (thanks Red Pants!). It’s been rock solid otherwise.
Also I’m researching getting something like a 570S or F430 and their parts and maintenance are drastically more expensive.
But hey, these myths are keeping the prices low so enthusiasts can enjoy this bargain car.
Aston Martins of this era were simply beautiful!
Some of the most beautiful cars ever made
I completely agree but also, have you seen the DB12? 🥵
@It's pretty ugly.
Mid-late 00s were peak Aston Martin. Stylish cars, great engines, and plenty of secret agent swagger. The design aged like fine wine.
@ DB12 is good looking in the current market, but compared to this is so over styled. The original V8 Vantage is the perfect Aston Martin for me. (By original I mean this one, though the previous gens have a soft spot to me too)
Throwback Thursday for Doug!!
ASIMO JAILBREAK DEV OMG
Keep the rewind jb forever or else
Hello vro
You know Doug loves a car when he reviews it multiple times. The good old days when Doug used to own this car.
Even this Vantage looks pretty much the same as the one he owned😂
He doesn't love it, he's just boosting cars & bids sales
He gets to drive an Aston Martin for free while simultaneously advertising his website and giving himself content for his channel. He cracked the code.
Yeah, that’s not the reason, it’s just because it’s being sold. I wonder if that’s an option? Paying extra time have him review your car
@@pepeelpoyoable right, because its being sold on HIS website, doing this car review is not only content, but self advertising, that's how he has cracked the code.
I remember when Doug was reading his angry comments with this car about driving in the snow and it was one of the funniest videos I’ve seen.
Doug: “I’m selling my Aston Martin the day before the warranty expires!”
Also Doug: “personally I think it’s much more reliable than most people assume!”
Thats exactly why I bought our old one back!
Doug the type of guy to go from being a car reviewer to being a car salesman
2 replies, none visible. TH-cam is so radical left now they’re censoring comments on a car video 🤡
@@lookoutforchrisI can see both replies for now, they're both some scam bot comments.
I've had a 2007 Vantage for almost three years and it's a great all around car. With 200TW tires, it's even fun on the autocross course (video proof on my channel). One thing Doug doesn't mention is that the car is quite DIY friendly. Since purchasing it, I've installed track pads and high temp brake fluid, O2 sensors, a serpentine belt, and an oem Sports Pack suspension kit, all at home with regular tools. Thanks to Ford interchangeability, some of the parts weren't even that expensive. And I "fixed" the infotainment with an Echo Auto and a bluetooth module that streams through the CD Changer port. It was a dream car of mine since it came out, and I can't think of much else I'd rather have for the price
I love hearing that from owners. I hope to own one as well one day. It would have been a better purchase than a new Ridgeline, but finding one and then getting financing are the obstacles for plebians like me who don't have 40k burning a hole in their pocket. Working toward it though. Still prefer old cars over all the modern safety beeping and warnings. 21 years driving with no accidents.
It's amazing how something can look so modern and so classic at the same time.
It´s interesting when you look at the Porsche 911 of that era. You just see an outdated Porsche. When i look at this Aston i just see a perfect, timeless design. Pure dream car back then for my 20 yo self and still is today.
Doug is the type of guy to review his own car… from 8 years ago!!! #bumpertobumper
Whoever Doug's video editor is, NEEDS to buy and install the Acon Deverberate 3 plug-in. It will REALLY help the indoor echo. It's cheap and very easy to install. PLEASE get it and use it. Thank you!
The entire production quality is a turn off. It’s become difficult to even listen to.
Never get tired of Doug's explanation of a fly away parking brake
I didn't have the heart to tell him it's "Fly-off". ;)
I still remember the Aston Martin vs Minivan video where Doug pulled a Vacuum out the Aston Martin
I have an 09’ manual 4.7 coupe with 106k miles. It has been my daily driver for 5 years until I got a great EV lease deal 3 weeks ago. It’s now a weekender… for now. it has been the most reliable car I’ve owned and I will never sell it. (Prior cars- 300zx, m coupe, Volvo s60r (has the same mirrors as the vantage actually), e46 m3, m2 competition, 2023 ford bronco. The vantage is incredibly reliable if you take care of it. I do my own oil changes every 3k miles, and it takes less than 45 minutes. The only thing I’ve had fail in the last 5 years of ownership is the auxiliary fan, which was $600… trust me, don’t let the perception of a few that have never owned one, ruin potential ownership. It’s a gorgeous, high quality, and special car. Buy one!
As a fellow owner I agree. Cost and reliability myths hurt value though. I’ve had way more problems with BMW’s, VW’s, even my Macan had a lot of issues. This thing is rock solid so far.
This brings back old Memories of early Doug Videos! Also i feel the Aston Martin Vantage (or any Aston Martin for that matter) is timeless in Design
Yes Aston Martins are often insanely expensive to fix if something breaks even here in Europe, while usually European Car Brands are way cheaper to fix and repair as long as you live in Europe
But just like with a BMW M5 V10. it's still worth all the Hassle everytime you drive it.
I always considered getting a Vantage V8, and then for a while a V12 (they used to be way cheaper back around 2013-2014) should have gone for it back then
Prost & Cheers from Berchtesgaden in the Bavarian Alps
I think BIG NEWS should only be announced when the car being reviewed is not listed on Cars and Bids
Mick still works for Aston Martin
He did my 2013 vantage that I got on C&B last December!
Is that short for Mike Krack?
how do you know?
The sound & styling alone is worth its weight in gold. That & the fact that Jeremy Clarkson waxed lyrics about this car.
Doug pumping the value of a sellers car, must be one of his friends, we’ve seen this video remade like 3 times
This is the first time he’s reviewed a v8 vantage of this generation since he owned his over 7 years ago lol?
Aston Martin has produced some of the most beautiful vehicles ever.
I love watching Doug caress the car's interior at 3:48
Clear taillights modernize the V8 Vantage so much much prefer them over the red ones
Nah... Red ones are better, especially when the car is silver. It's an Aston Martin, not a Lexus.
Been watching since the bumper to bumper warranty days. damn 8 years of falling asleep to doug videos
I dig the tachometer and speedometer sweeping in opposing directions.
Doug’s checking the rear view mirror right after getting on the accelerator cracked me up.
I kept waiting for Doug to fold the side mirrors in and out to some silly song. 😃
This brought back memories of when Doug drove his Vantage in the snow. 😂 I think it sounds so damn good too! The styling is beautiful too.
Doug, the VH Vantage never had an automatic trans, it only came with a manual transmission. One version had three pedals, one with two pedals and paddle shifters. But they had the exact same manual transmission. Nice review, great car!
Thank You for reviewing this HOT car. I'vew loved this 2007 Aston Martin Vantage since it came out. Funny to learn of the Volvo and Ford parts bin quirks. I also love you enthusiasm for it after having owned one, and of course your beautiful blue eyes.
I have an '07 Vantage. Mine has been dead reliable, literally zero issues in 2 years of ownership. Car has 60k on it and I know the history through the past 2 owners who also had very reliable ownership. They're pretty solid overall, and most of the "common issues" aren't catastrophic (cloudy lights, needing to reset a door or seat module, etc.)
The windshield wiper control, same in my 2010 F150. 🙂
Just checked EU prices and in Germany the cheapest car is one with 513k kilometres (~320k miles) on the clock. Apparently got its first engine replacement 35k km (21k miles) ago. Those are wild numbers for an Aston.
Not that surprising. It’s a pretty stout Jaguar based engine.
Doug should sign the cars he puts on Cars And Bids, or at least their manuals or something. Could make for a fun conversation starter for the buyer.
I always wanted one of these in British Racing Green. Beautiful car.
Oh! I thought it was his old V8 Vantage. It's always a good time to watch Aston Martin cars. Especially the Vantage
The '09-and up models have a lot of changes to the interior and powertrain that make them much better.
Where is the 300ZX review
When someone sells one on C&B.
Having shared components is great for a car like this. You can likely keep getting them cheap comparatively. Plus that manual trans I bet this car wouldn't have that many expensive repairs
Yes one of the very few things I’ve had to replace was this alarm sounder/sensor. I got the Ford part on eBay for $80 used. Quick swap. Good to go.
this brigs back so many memories I almost thought Doug uploaded a lost video of the vantage
Aston Martin has some of the most conservatively beautiful models. The prices are REALLY tempting, but I feel like any one i bought would be a reliability nightmare when money is tight, of course
They are really reliable, I've had no issues with mine and have a great reputation
@@jase6370 really? Ive just had bad luck with lemons.
"Bumper 2 Bumper Warranty"
I see this car, and I cannot help but think of Top Gear. This was *peak* Top Gear during these years., '05 or '06 through about '11 or '12 -- Clarkson, Hammond, and May were at their best, each episode was something you anticipated greatly, and it was always funny while still remaining relatively informative. And they must've had this generation of Aston Martin's lineup on there nearly every episode! Great times!
I remember ur vantage BuMpEr To BuMpEr warranty 😅. Also please do a review on the ‘13 ford fusion
Did they forget that the main job of the SUN visor is to block out the SUN?
Here in the UK, we have clouds to do that for us. Though seriously, in a car with a low roof, you only want a small sun visor. Otherwise, it would completely block your vision.
But does THIS one come with a bumper to bumper warranty?
Great video. Totally agree on the stalks. I have a late 2014 Vantage and i love it but the stalks are still really bargain basement. As for the sat nav, i have had tellys’ from the 80’s that were less deep in milimetres
Doug: This car is gorgeous and beautiful
Also Doug: Imma give it a 8/10 Styling
Damn Doug, it's been 8 years already?!?! The Doug with the Aston Martin is the Doug I started out with... well, actually the Doug with the Ferrari is the Doug I started with, that's how I found your channel lol. Been here ever since.
Bro!! I was not ready for that exhaust. That was meeaaan.
Would be great if Doug could finally review an R230 generation AMG SL Roadster of the period to size up the Aston Martin's competition. But they're infrequent on C&B.
One of my favorite hot hatches
I find it funny that when Dough talks about reliability and says 50,000 to 70,000 like it's impressive. Both my Lexus and Goldwing are past 150,000 miles and they have only required regular maintenance. They have never left me on the side of the road. I would love Doug to make a video about why people put up with the lack of reliability in some brands but people still buy them, example Range Rover.
That vantage video was the first Doug video I ever saw.
In my opinion thats one of the most beautiful cars ever build. Too bad i can't afford a 10 car dream garage, this would be one of them...
Love the older Astons. New ones, too :). One day I will get my grubby hands on one.
One of my favorites of all time beautiful
Beautiful car!
Love how it doesn’t look Almost 20 years old.
Sound awesome as well
About the tailgate opening ...Doug says it's the classiest way ever in the history of the automobile. Possibly. But if you checkout how the tailgate is opened on a Peugeot 407 Coupe - that is pretty cool. I never get tired of that. Hint, press the '0'.
Need to review a newer 4.7 2012+ with the upgrades from the S (quicker rack and brakes). Amazing car and much sportier than people think.
Great review on a beautiful car. If I hadn't screwed my life up years ago to the extent I cannot even afford a new crossover(not even a Mazda CX-30), I would be sure to outbid everyone on this....such a great car, and the nonfunctional GPS is a nice Feature, not a Quirk! I'd give it a 9/10 on style, but how does it get 4/10 in features? Seems pretty bare bones, but that's not a bad thing.
Always liked these cars, funny my only gripe with this one was the clear tail lamps and it turns out this particular model came with red ones but the current owner updated them to clear lenses from a later model. Definitely prefer the red. Nice car. Goodluck to the new owner.
If I remember right Doug's Vantage took about 20k a year from that bumper to bumper warranty to keep it on the road. What a deal.
one of the very few truly timeless designs
this car will look good forever
One defect I noticed that isn't mentioned in the video (it is mentioned on the auction listing): look closely at the stereo display and gauge cluster displays, and you will notice the anti-glare reflective coating is crazing on all of them. Common problem on Vantage and DB9, but it requires sanding the coating off and polishing the plastic to make it look pretty again. Not the end of the world, but annoying.
I was looking at one of these about 12 years ago. I decided to go with a newer C6 Vette instead since its a better performance car without the headaches. 133k miles later the only unexpected repair my vette has needed has been a radiator and a water pump which can be had for the price of a radio knob on that Aston lol
This and the Maserati GranSport are the two best values out there.
Is Kennan gonna buy it?
Very possible, it is a manual after all!
@@JakeTerch yeah and for some reason I think he prefers the smaller early engine
He wants the roadster
@@sohessAnyone involved with cars and bids cannot bid on a car unless it's no reserve
Thank you Doug the price of v8 vantages has gone up by 30% because of this video. Absolutely thrilling.
3:27 that part you put the physical key in is also in the ford mondeo mk3 😂
One of my dream cars for sure
Finally ive been waiting for this
For what?
@@PasleyAviationPhotography For this exact car to be reviewed by someone like Doug Demuro. It's my dream car
V12 vantage manual in yellow tang is the perfect car
My absolute dream car, always has been, peak of Aston Martin design.
My 2007 Mazda3 I motor swapped had the pop up navigation screen that came in the Aston Martins. Mazda was one of the other companies l, like Volvo, working with Ford at the time. The engine in my Mazda was a Ford 2.3 I swapped for a Gen 2 Mazda3 2.5 liter engine.
always been a goal of mine to buy 1 of these b4 they're possibly demanded more by the future markets
I feel like Doug is doing all the cars that have the weird door sided handbrake lately
Doug you got me tricked this time. I was hoping that this would comback to parkinglot reviews just as throwback to those days when you owned one 😂 Those were the days…
Wishing you a healthy new day to introduce more cars❤❤❤❤
Doug please review a Porsche 987 Spyder or 981 Spyder
12:10 The silver button to enter the trunk is cute and all, but you should review a Peugeot 607. It's got the cleverest quirky trunk open button you'll ever see, and I think you'll get a kick out of it.
Agree Doug, Beautiful car.
There was one of these at my local Nissan dealer and it was beautiful. Black on black. Black everything. Wheels, windows, badges. Totally awesome. I called and asked about it. Had like 40k miles on and they wanted $36k for it. I asked if it was a manual and with a sigh she replied, “No, it’s an automatic”. I told her thank you and have a nice day. Thank goodness it was a automatic because I’d had to have dealt with the embarrassment of being rejected for a loan for an exotic car 😂
GREAT! Damn it, Doug, now I want an Aston Martin V8 Vantage 🤨
My iPhone screen simply does not do that colour justice. Too bad. Sensational looking motorcar. Thanks for the video.
Is love to see how the V12 Vanquish drives and if i fit in it good💪🏆
Folding mirrors is a feature, not a quirk. It's like rich Doug isn't even trying any longer.
Ahh, this brings me back to the early days of Doug
A decade ago I went to pick up my W211 E55 from a car dealer in South Florida, and they had a Vantage in the showroom. I sat in it and it had THE nicest interior I have ever seen in a car. It was simply gorgeous. The Vantage S was a pretty Quick car too.
This model looks way better than anything AM has to offer today in my opinion. I don't even think you can get a modern manual AM. Those poor LCD screes though. Why do they look like that? Mine never did. Also, I would love a navigation screen that can hide itself when I'm not using it in my modern car. Most owners of these replace the screen with and Android Auto / Apple CarPlay unit anyway.
Nice Ashton Martin!
7:15 I see you've never been in a C4 Corvette. I cannot put literally anything in those "cup" holders. I use them for loose change, and it can barely hold any of that
I own a C5 Corvette, and although you can fit drinks in its cup holder, it's literally only two inches deep. It's useless.
Same turn and wiper stock signals in my Jaguar X Type (also owned by Ford)
Doug: this car isn’t actually bad to own
Also Doug in 2016: *pays for warranty, gets stranded on a trip, has to have it towed.*
Excellent i mean just looking door handle that car really 2007 in aston martin at 2014 at nissan gtr, i believe'd aston best future for a long time
I actually seen an Aston Martin V8 Vantage Convertible back on Sunday, July 8th, 2018 and I actually have a photo of it.
As a tech all I can think of is "where the hell do I get parts?" for it. Like even simple stuff like pads and rotors and air filters?
