  • Prior to and during the Covid 19 lockdown there was a home exercise boom. I ordered the ProForm Smart Power 10 during this same time period, after deciding I wanted a smart spin bike but didn't want to pay the high Peloton prices. So here is my build and review of the ProForm Smart Power 10 with iFit exercise subscription.

    I have watched over 30 videos on youtube trying to find a bike that does exactly what I want it to do. Finally, a bike that adjust the resistance automatically for under $1000. Thank you for your review.

    Hey.. thanks for this vid... i got this bike... but im 6'00 feet tall... any thoughts on how to set up the bike? i usually do the typical hip bone - seat but it felt like i had to lean a lot because of the low handle bar... any thoughts??

    • @SpectrumGeeks
      @SpectrumGeeks  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I am 5'10 and I found I did the hip bone - seat setup and then just tweaked it about from there. I found I moved the seat forward more to reduce the lean to a comfortable level. Did feel a little odd to start with, but I soon adjusted.

    Hello, I am writing this with a translation program, if there are any errors I apologize. I just had a question? I have the same bike, namely a PRO-FORM smartpower 10.0, similar to your video on TH-cam. When I start my bike I see the IFIT logo and after a few seconds I get a white screen. The bike has always worked well, but currently I only see a white screen when I normally have to get the page with the different training sessions. Can one also reset that bicycle? Or if the screen is broken, can it be ordered afterwards and where? Can you help me out? I have the same screen as in the video on TH-cam. Thank you in advance and kind regards. Guy

    Do you know the weight of the flywheel? Did they come back to you about the HDMI?
    I am thinking of maybe the NordicTrack version about £300 more but I cannot see a difference. Also what you said was important that they make both bike trainers. Thanks for your video it has been helpful. Got to the point and wasn’t too lengthy after the build.

    • @SpectrumGeeks
      @SpectrumGeeks  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching.
      They came back on the HDMI and basically denied all knowledge, so clearly a feature they stealthily removed, but its not an issue to me.
      I believe the Flywheel is 12kg (26.4lbs).

    Thanks for this helpful video. How useful will it be once ifit subscription has lapsed? Is it still a good bike worth having? I guess you can mount your phone or something if you want to do a free ride following a different provider to ifit’s classes?

    • @SpectrumGeeks
      @SpectrumGeeks  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The iFit component is certainly a BIG selling point of the bike, as the screen cant be used for something else.
      When not using the iFit component, the screen will display a circuit that then shows the laps you do etc, so you can deffo use your phone or something if you want to follow something else.
      I just extended my iFit membership as I got on the discount Dec / Jan deals.

    • @robs5690

      Thank you very much - really helpful. Reason I ask is I’m looking at a refurb model that I don’t has the subscription included but good price for the bike. Very useful to get a sense for how integrated the ifit is and how prohibitive it is to not use it.

    I’m new to looking into a bike… do you know all of these smart bikes or this one in particular require some kind of subscription to the workouts?

    • @SpectrumGeeks
      @SpectrumGeeks  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      They don't NEED a subscription, but you certainly get the most out of it with one.
      If you don't want to factor in the ongoing subscription cost, then just get a dump exercise bike, as it doesn't warrant the cost.
      Saying that, iFit subscription is pretty well priced, and they always have discount deals at Black Friday time etc, so great for renewals.

    I have had lots of trouble with mine. I had to get an engineer out as there was a circlip problem so the crank wheel las rubbing with the plastic belt covering. A replacement circlip fixed that but now it is speaking loudly - a different problem. I will check the drive belt praps. Also the screen does not always respond to touch. The resistance does not follow the video and will ease off when going up hill for example. And very often the videos don't follow the right order and it is a pain to go back and sort it cos of the screen touch issues. I often have to unplug and start again, in short it has been a disaster and only 3 months old. I wonder if you have come across issues now you have had it for a bit longer.. regards Terry

    • @SpectrumGeeks
      @SpectrumGeeks  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Terry, no issues with the bike still, loving it. The iFit interface on the bike isnt great sometimes, so I tend to find them via the phone app and then add them to my calendar so it shows up on the bike.

    • @VengerVideoGamer
      @VengerVideoGamer 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I bought one just under 2 months ago and everything was great at first, and I was really enjoying using it nearly every day. The bike started to make a creaking sound when I'd been on it for about an hour when the resistance was 15 or above, after a few weeks, and then it'd be okay for a while when using it the next day. Then suddenly, in the middle of an iFit class today, the left crank arm started to slowly unscrew and fell off. The bolt that connected the crank arm to the bike frame had snapped off. Considering that my previous exercise bike (which was only £125 in Argos) lasted 12 - 13 years, and was still working when I got rid of it, I'm definitely not happy. Done just under 1000km on the new bike, compared to untold thousands of km on the old one.

    Hi there
    Thanks for the review. I am really interested in this but my WiFi isn't great in the garage... Will that be an issue?
    You mentioned dec/Jan deals. How much discount was that on the subscription ?
    I wouldnt normally buy the family one as wouldn't need to use it at the same time but if it was a good discount I perhaps would. Do I need the family membership to access it on my phone etc? Thanks!

    • @SpectrumGeeks
      @SpectrumGeeks  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You need reasonable WiFi if you want to utilise the iFit video feature, as its streaming video.
      The bike came with 1 year iFit subscription, but I renewed / extended early due to the discount. I also don't NEED the family option but the price was good.
      The standard ANNUAL iFit Membership is £128.52, and the Family is £282.84. I renewed my family membership for £167.90 which I thought was a great deal as my wife does occasionally use it also.
      Family or individual membership allows access on the phone. The only advantage of Family is you can have 5 individual separate profiles on the account all benefiting from the iFit access.

    Do you have to activate an ifit account before the screen comes to life?
    My daughter spent 90 minutes carefully putting this together, hated the fragile wiring. Seems really cheap and poorly designed. Absolutely dead.
    The user manual seems to suggest an ifit account is required or else your screen may be unresponsive. Is unresponsive dead?
    I struggle with things like this myself beimg blind in one eye hence having to rely on others to assemble items like this.

    • @SpectrumGeeks
      @SpectrumGeeks  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The screen should turn on regardless of an iFit subscription or not. So if not turning on you have a cable issue or as you suggest that part may be faulty.
