    I've owned the bike for a couple months. Under normal operation it's relatively quiet. I'm 6ft and 212 lbs and find it supports my weight without any issue. I've done 150 rides on it up to this point. I've done 149 scenic rides and one studio ride. The screen is a good size and I find the responsiveness good enough. I would advise getting clip in pedals and shoes the supplied pedals are very basic. Yes it's a little expense and in my case near £100 but makes a huge difference. In the box I found a family subscription card for a year to iFit in addition to the 30 day trial which was a bonus.
    After six weeks of use it started making a knocking sound. It was a bit of an experience dealing with customer services and took about 2.5 weeks to send out a engineer and carry out the repair. The bike perhaps had been sitting in a warehouse for a while. One of the flywheel bearings needed replaced and their was a loose part internally in the frame that was vibrating at the same time as the flywheel. It's working almost silently now. Doing a bit of research it seems it's competitors have similar issues with faults in early ownership for certain customers. My issue is not the faults it's how things are resolved in the end.
    It's a very good bike and hopefully the rest of my ownership is trouble free.

    I can't believe that this video described the same exact problems I had assembling the bike. I had to use my own tools and one of the wires was lose and my bike was stuck at the same resistance. We got this bike a week ago and I completely agree with your comments on assembly. It's a great bike, we really enjoy the scenic workouts, but it seems like a design failure with all the electrical connections. Also, there should be an on/off switch somewhere on the chassis but plugging it in and out is the only option to get started.

    I should have watched this review before buying, you cover several of the initial issues I experienced that soured me on it. Other reviews did not cover any of the cons and were very misleading. The user interface is OK visually but the layout and touchscreen inputs are incredibly difficult, which when riding makes it all the worse. I've come close to wanting to punch the screen a few times. The next issue is the handlebars, which are comfortable but the lack of detent when adjusting them is an issue. My first time adjusting them they came right out of the tube when I pulled up and could have been an expensive disaster. Luckily for me it only disconnected the cable, and I learned to be careful adjusting the bars. Another issue is power, the power plug looks like an afterthought and is most certainly going to be kicked and broken. And no power switch? I may add one myself and relocate the power to the front of the bike. Lastly is the wifi connectivity, I'm only 10 feet away from an antenna for an access point that services the rest of my house without issue, but on this bike I haven't been able to complete an instructor led ride without it collapsing into a pit of buffering hell. Now maybe my hopes are too high, and without other bikes to compare it to I may be complaining for no reason. However, at this price point, and with a monthly cost associated, I expected a better experience. That said I don't think I'll be giving up on it. The bike when it works is comfortable and I enjoy the training classes. I like the way the resistance is handled in instructor led courses, and luckily the touchscreen cooperates well with it comes to adjusting resistance. Bar mounted buttons for the resistance would be great, and maybe theres a way I can modify it for those down the road. Thanks for the review and good luck to anyone else who got this bike.

    • @Learnwithtravis
      @Learnwithtravis  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you Karl and hope you are able to get this working to your liking! You do bring up a lot of good points and true short-comings of this bike. One thing to point out with your buffering and issues... my S22i had problems just like that. Maybe a little worse but buffering all the time, rides crashing, and the system just rebooting. The tablet ended up having to be replaced. Letting you know in case your problems are larger than WIFI connection. Good luck!

    Appreciate the review! Mine had already arrived by the time I saw this video, but glad others get to use this to help make their decision. I had no assembly issues, so maybe you just got a bad one. It took a couple extra weeks to arrive, but I'm happy. Ifit rides are great and there are a bunch of them. The live class was good too. My only wish is if the handlebars could go up one or two notches higher. I'm 6' and i just feel like I'm slightly reaching, but it's really not bad. I also wish i could swivel the screen and use my ifit account to do rowing workouts, but it's locked to just using the bike workouts.

    • @Learnwithtravis
      @Learnwithtravis  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      My pleasure Josh and thank you for the feedback! Great to hear that it went together no problem for you. I wish they added the swivel screen as well. Seems like it would not cost much to add that and helps boost the value of the bike a lot.

    • @josh6245
      @josh6245 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      To clarify my comment, the screen does swivel, but you can only play BIKE workouts on the ifit screen. I wish you could play rowing, running, etc workouts too because then you could use the screen along with your old workout equipment. Instead, i have to pull up the ifit login on my phone or tablet and use that for rowing, running, etc.

    I just found your channel as I am thinking about a buying a new bike. (subscribed right away) You do a great job and the audio is very good. This is not the case in many other channels.
    I am having a hard time figuring out what to get between the Schwinn IC4, Proform Studio, Bowflex C6 and the Echelon (e3x, 4ex or 5ex). If it was just me I would get a Wahoo Kickr and be good to go but family considerations need to be taken into account. There are a lot of trade-offs with each bike. While I think most would agree that the Peloton offers the most premium experience, I would like to speed a little less. I think the most important ones for me are 1) realistic and quality of the ride and 2) quality of bike. (Max resistance level is not a big deal). Any help you can provide would be great.

    • @Learnwithtravis
      @Learnwithtravis  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Mitchell and welcome to the channel! Thank you for the audio comment! I try me my best to keep the audio\video quality as high as I can.
      First, the C6 and the IC4 are basically the same bike, just branded different. Lots of people have got them and loved them. They have a resistance display and sensors if you want to use the Peloton app at a much cheaper monthly cost. So, either of those would be solid options if you want to use the Peloton app (more studio based content). The Pro-Form runs iFit which means it has studio rides as well but the scenic rides are very good if you think you would enjoy that ride type over studio based rides. The Echelon was actually a pretty solid bike as well. I tested the 5 model with attached monitor which did have some issues and I have seen a fair number of complaints about it in my comments. Until I get a better idea of where they are at, I think I would rule that bike out. Honestly, it probably comes down to if you want Peloton or iFit content (how you are going to use the bikes). Outside of my cable concern, the Pro-Form did seem very well built and I would say it probably had the best resistance of the bunch relative to what you have described. My gut is saying the Pro-Form would probably be the best option for you. Hope that helps!

  • @tc8719
    @tc8719 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I really appreciate you making this review, Travis. Been waiting a while since there are no legit reviews out there. How does this bike stack up against Peloton?

    • @Learnwithtravis
      @Learnwithtravis  3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      My pleasure! So, it really depends on what features interest you more. They both seem to be quality bikes with great resistance, automation, and fun features. End to end, as far as polish experience, engaging features, competitive motivation, and superior studio rides.... I pick the Peloton. And overall, I do think the Peloton is the better product in general. But... the iFit platform is amazing when it comes to scenic rides. They have the automated resistance built into it that enhances the scenic ride experience even more. So, if scenic rides are what you think would excite you most and have you enjoying the bike experience... I go with Pro-Form. If that is not your thing, then I would probably pick Peloton in most situations. (They are both good bikes... again, just depends on what features talk to you) Hope that helps!

    My ProForm was delivered December 28, 2020. I rode it 5 times before it broke. The customer service rep provided their "local" service provider (subcontractor, 90 minutes from where I live). He came February 1, 2021 and wasn't able to repair it. Ordered a few extra parts. Today is February 8 and the bike is still broken. With the 3 year maintenance contract, I've spent approximately $1800 for a bike I've used 5 times. The manufacturing quality combined with the terrible customer service has rendered this purchase a total failure. I would recommend looking at other manufacturers.

      @@Learnwithtravis Thanks for responding. I called ProForm customer service and was routed by device (i.e. ProForm Bikes). The wait time was extremely long but given the current environment, I was sensitive to the crush experienced by all “home gym” manufacturers. What I was stunned to learn was the amount of time I had to wait for a person to visit my location to fix a BRAND NEW bike. This entire experience has been terribly frustrating. If it wasn’t so expensive to return, I would have sent it back January 4. I have promised myself that I would do whatever I could to dissuade anyone from buying ProForm (or Nordic Tack, for that matter). I would love to speak to a senior leader from the parent company but it’s impossible to get contact information. That tells me there are many frustrated “customers” from whom management must hide.

But I also had issues with the automatic resistance; I'm now waiting to receive parts (bolts) to replace in the handlebar (not a tight fit imo), and I also just received bike paint to cover a scrap on the leveling foot (maybe my fault) ... but with all the minor issues I've had, customer service has come through and fixed all of my concerns.... Couple more comments as i ride this bike more. Has anyone else figured out how best to work the touch screen? It seems finicky. Sometimes 1 tap opens things, but sometimes i have to tap it twice. Or not move too fast through the menus or else it doesn't recognize the first tap. I'm still learning it. In addition, not a big deal, but i wish there was an On/Off power button. Having to pull the plug after every use just seems wrong and I worry it could damage something after long term use. Other than that, still a great bike and ifit is awesome!!

      Completely different animal. I have an Echo bike and am looking into getting a "spin bike/studio cycle" after I rode one for a week while on vacation.
      I would say the Echo bike is good for the short, hard interval workouts. Ie. as part of a crossfit-style workout. It works off air resistance, so you can't spin without giving it significant effort. When I get on the Echo bike to warm up, I don't go much over 60-65 rpm. To get 90 rpm, you're sprinting! The longest ride I've done on the Echo was just over and hour and that was just stupid.
      The studio bike is good for the general cycling. Intervals, long rides, short rides, etc. It's just a completely different experience that mimics actual cycling. The Echo bike is a torture machine meant for shorter bursts and to get your HR ridiculously high really fast!
      That being said, I will own both. Different tools for different types of workouts.

    • @Learnwithtravis
      @Learnwithtravis  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I know the struggle! My advise would be considering automation and iFit versus versatility. The Pro-Form will have the ability for instructors to change your resistance and keep you into the ride. This is a neat feature. Also, determine if you are sold on iFit only content. If so, that is probably the right bike. If you don't mind losing the automation and really like the idea of switching content utilized on the bike, Stryde might be the better option. Good luck!

      Haha! Hello Chrissy! I am struggling with this one. As far as just the bike experience, the Pro-Form actually has more to offer. Those scenic rides, resistance & cadence reporting, auto-follow, and a little better resistance. What I don't like is they have a terrible return policy which always makes me question a company and what is important to them. The MYX is simpler and my guess is much less likely to have problems. I had to work with support a few times and they made me feel very good about the company. I guess in short, the Pro-Form has more to offer but with risk while the MYX offers what is still a very good bike with more peace of mind and more money in your pocket. Sort of depends on what you are interested in. Another factor is determining which type of content you like better. While I love the scenic rides of iFit, I much prefer the studio rides of the MYX better as it fits my personality more (chill, calming, zen). Hope that helps! You gave my a tricky one there!

    • @Learnwithtravis
      @Learnwithtravis  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello! For Pro-Form the scenic rides and resistance automation is the stand out feature. It is really enjoyable and a fun way to exercise if you like the scenic ride structure. For Velocore, it is the variety and many ways to use the bike. The different ride types and content, the AI workouts, lean mode, ability to stream shows. You can mix it up easier and keep things exciting. Personally, I lean towards the Velocore. For the reasons mentioned but also because Pro-Form has a poor return policy and I am hearing things about their support team. They make me a little nervous but if those scenic rides are what stands out above all else, they may be work considering.

When something says "iFit compatible", what does that actually mean? Basically, can I purchase a much cheaper iFit compatible bike/treadmill, set my giant tablet that I already own on it and get the same or similar experience? From a personal tablet, will the app adjust the bikes resistance during training videos, etc?

      Glad to hear! So, going through the support process with NordicTrack left a really bad taste in my mouth. I think Pro-Form uses the same structure and companies and if it does, that scares me a bit. If you remove all of that, I was pretty impressed with the with the bike. It seems pretty solid, automation worked well, and helped to enhance that already great scenic rides. If those are features that come together to match what you find most exciting in a bike, that may be the option. But... the Stryde can do the iFit scenic rides if you want. No automation but it can still give you that great content. It can also do Peloton, TH-cam, Netflix... and so on. The company has been very easy to work with and seems to be behind their product. I love the versatility of the Stryde bike and feel better about the overall build quality. For me, I would go with Stryde but either could be a good option depending on what talks to you. Hope that helps!

    I have the 10 in screen model. The only difference base on the review is the 10 in the screen. I like the Ifit interface. It had issues during the October update where your video keep buffering but it has since been fixed. Ifit is continuously updated, so it should get better over time. For example, they recently update the firmware to have real music and allow Bluetooth headphones.
    Also, though this is not officially supported, IFIT is built on the android platform, so there is a hack that allows you to install apps like Spotify and TH-cam to play in the background through admin mode. This is why I love my IFIT powered bike and treadmill.
    Here is the step:
    www.reddit.com/r/nordictrack/comments/finlyv/s22i_unlock_bluetooth_settings/
    after opening admin mode, download any app through an APK file.
    If you are not comfortable with technology, I wouldn't try this. But since I like to have Spotify playing my playlist this feature made me love the IFIT bike more.

    • @Learnwithtravis
      @Learnwithtravis  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My pleasure Aimee! I have not tested the newer Echelon so they may have made improvements but I would put the Pro-Form ahead of Echelon. Echelon content is more studio party styled where iFIT has multiple types but is known for instructor led scenic rides. So that should be a big factor in deciding. Most bikes lock you into their user interface and content. Stryde has built an app that works with some bikes so you could use a tablet and still get output from the bike into the app, but I have not tested this yet. I tested MYX before Beachbody so I imagine it is only better since I tested it but for the price point, I did like MYX as well. More of a SPA\ZEN feel. I think picking the content structure is one the most important parts and each of these are different. Good luck! :)

    Hey Travis, I got this bike today and put it together with ease (I empathize with your cable issues). I did have one question though... was your bike loud when you first started peddling? I'm not talking about the onboard sound system, I'm referring to the wheel. I just gave it a test run and the whirl I'm getting is louder than any other bike I've been on, and that's even with my headphones connected. Just curious, is this normal with brand new bikes? Will it get quieter once I wear it in a little more?
    For better understanding, I did an inspection of everything I could see with the wheel and all its compartments and the sound seems to be coming from inside the two side pieces that hold the wheel in its place. I was expecting it to be quiet, but instead, it's the loudest bike (loudest whirl) I've ever been on.

    • @Learnwithtravis
      @Learnwithtravis  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello Imilie and sorry to hear that. I could be wrong, but I think that bike had a black piece near the bottom of the flywheel. When I first used it, I thought it was supposed to be there because it looks like it was supposed to. When I realized it was for shipping and removed it, the whirl got a lot better. So make sure no packing pieces are still around anywhere. If that is not the case, I would call them because that is not normal. It really should be close to silent. Good luck and I hope it ends up being an easy fix!

      My pleasure! I have noticed lag in the user interface part. Loading screens often includes a delay and this seems to be an iFit thing. As far as in-ride experience, I never noticed lag but it sometimes takes a little while for it to buffer up and show quality video. Starts off very grainy and after 20 seconds it looks better... if your video quality stays poor the entire time, you may want to make sure it is getting a quality internet connection (WIFI could be weak).

      I don't know how exactly they come up with their weight limit and where they think the weakest part of the bike is. So, I can't say for sure if this is safe or not. My guess is that the pedals are the weakest part. This is because when you get out of saddle, all your force is going into the peddles. Something I have frequently heard is that people stay in saddle until under the weight limit. This spreads the force of your exercise between seat, pedals, handlebars and helps the bike to handle it. Hope that helps and hope you really enjoy it!

    • @Learnwithtravis
      @Learnwithtravis  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      My pleasure! Probably not. I personally think the Peloton is the better overall option but if you take out studio rides\leaderboard out if it, they are much closer. Both have swivel screens, auto follow, electronic resistance, quality resistance, and large monitors to use (Pro-Form). Plus with iFit bikes you get the scenic rides if you are not a studio ride type person. With the Stryde you lose some of those features but gain the ability to use different platforms and also stream content while working out if that is more your thing. Hope that helps!

    • @Learnwithtravis
      @Learnwithtravis  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@briannaleverette7281 I really like the MYX but it is a very specific setup. The tablet is not unlocked So you will be using MYX content only (which I did like). It has the swivel monitor and an expanding library of content. Downsides are that it is locked (like most), it does not have resistance or cadence if you prefer that, and the resistance is not magnetic. I thought it was still very good resistance but a small step back from the magnetic bikes usually in that price range. Again, it all depends on what features you are most interested in. If you like the features of this bike, it is a very nice one!

    • @Learnwithtravis
      @Learnwithtravis  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Some advantages of this bike are great instructor led scenic rides and automatic resistance changes. It is a solid bike and has been mostly good on my end. Support and return policy leave something to be desired. On the Bowflex side, content is a little behind iFit, but they make up for it with AI trainers and the ability to use more types of content (Streaming services). The bike itself is a little better if you ask me and the lean mode could be a selling factor. Support also seems to be much better. Hope that helps as each has its pros and it depends on what "talks to you".

      Just hopped on the Pro-Form to test and at 6'3" I have plenty of room when sitting. When standing I am pretty good as long as I don't lean too far forward. The Peloton pretty much the same. • @Learnwithtravis
      @Learnwithtravis  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am not 100 percent sure how they come up with that number, but I think one of the weaker points is usually the pedals. Too much weight while standing and riding going all into the pedals could cause them to break. There are other factors as well, but I imagine that is something that contributes to their weight rating. Something a lot of people have done is stay in saddle until they are under the weight limit. Might be an option.

    • @Learnwithtravis
      @Learnwithtravis  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great! If features like incline\decline, push button resistance, fan in front of you really stand out and are major features you want in a bike then the NordicTrack. But, if you can do without those features... I would go Pro-Form. While many people have received working S22i bikes and loved it... the rate at which people have problems and then have very poor customer support experiences pushes me to Pro-Form unless S22i features are calling you.

    • @SimplyMeica
      @SimplyMeica 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If I could choose again, I would go with the Nordictrack S22i instead of the Proform (Which I have), simply because many of the studio classes and scenic rides incorporate the incline/decline function. As a rider, you're not experiencing the full potential of the program, and Proform hasn't designed the Studio 22 to make adjustments to the resistance to equally match the level of the incline set by the instructor. So If you want the full experience of iFit, then I would go with the NordicTrack. Btw, I like my bike and typically achieve really good work outs, but I usually I have to make adjustments to the resistance to keep up with the targeted RPM/candence...

    Are there pre-packaged exercise regimens that you do not need iFit for? For example, most gym upright bikes will have a "mountains" or "fat burner" workout that auto-adjusts difficulty/resistance during the timing of the workout. Or is there the opportunity to "make your own" workout related to time/resistance? I don't see myself utilizing the iFit classes all that much, but I'm looking for a bike that can offer more resistance than the Schwinn 170 upright (which almost feels like there is no resistance at all).

    • @Learnwithtravis
      @Learnwithtravis  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would have to boot it up and refresh my memory but I don't think so. Mostly ride based between studio, scenic, and create your own map. I am not sure anyone has this exact combo. Some bikes have the "stairs" or other preprogrammed workout charts to follow but they do not have it where the resistance automatically changes. Others automatically change resistance but don't have that specific exercise type. If you are willing to change resistance yourself, check out my first Velocore review. It has exercise overlays like that and you put your own content on the screen (Netflix).
