I could not agree more. I have mostly Milwaukee as i was gifted a set about 10 years ago and just kept with platform as they worked extremely well for me. None have failed me under normal loads

It seems more powerful than my older one, and it can be set to be really gentle. The drill is more appropriately sized for my use. I used to have a hammer drill, but I did not like that it was so big and it was not a great hammer drill. I rather have a smaller drill like this, and then get a corded hammer drill for the odd case I need that.
Hi Brian, just got my 850 and it’s a beast for such a tiny tool, it’s a screw driver that has the power of an impact, this tool does excellent under hood work it pulls power steering pulley’s right off with the puller tool, and in the house it’s a power house, it’s designed for light carpentry work and it’s power is absolutely awesome, I’m extremely impressed and happy with it, excellent demonstration ty, Bob,
The screw mode is supposed to stop at a certain amount of resistance then pause and then slowly impact giving you control as not to overdrive the screw. Everyone who tries it without learning how to use it thinks it just stops then they let go of the trigger failing before it begins. I've seen people return them thinking it's broken never looking at or reading the manual when it is just "user error" DeWalt has this mode on a number of impact drivers.

I'm just going to jump on the level 1 bandwagon. Having level 1 like that makes DeWalt impacts like having 2 tools in 1 because it does the job of ab electric screw driver too. I use mine all the time on electrical wiring.
I just bought the DeWalt DCF850 yesterday. Wow this thing is powerful. I really like the 3 power settings. Low can be used for drawer pull screws or other assembly parts so you don’t strip them out. Medium is about like my old Ridgid impact, and high is in turbo mode. I’m glad level one in the dewalt is at a lower level, less stripped out screws.
On level 1 the computer delays the impact a few seconds after it comes to a stop. You need to hold the trigger down longer. I believe the computer is calibrating the torque needed for the particular fastener your attempting to drive in the more careful setting. That's speculation but I've heard that
Keep in mind that this is the compact Atomic impact driver. It’s not meant to replace the xr dcf887. Or be the top of the line impact driver of dewalt. There is a larger impact driver, coming soon that will replace the dcf887. It will be a little larger than the new atomic but smaller than the current xt model.
I'm a production framer and it's so different in the real world, that one channel made all that stink about the 887 burning up. I have and use several my framers use both those and the earlier model's and every concrete guy I work around use dewalt and Iv'e never seen one fail in real life. Point being when you get out in real life the differences Im seeing, and the milwaukee seems faster, just dont translate in the real world!! That said I spent the day installing simpson hold downs trying to stay ahead of a bunch of kids installing shear panel, and BOY could I have used that stubby little dewalt!!! I just bought the new 850 it replaced my 787 because I honestly needed more power for these 6 inch Simpson truss screws. I have the 999 drill but it’s too heavy. So far I’m impressed with the 850 even though it’s just a small version of the 887
Looks like the electronics in the 850 are significantly better than the 887. It got hot, but I’m getting the sense it won’t have any overheating issues like the 887 does. Kudos to DeWalt for stepping up their game 👍

I just bought my first Big Brand tool. I went with the dewalt just cause tradition I guess you can say. I’ve always had cheap $20 dollar tools so this purchase was a Huge upgrade.
Good review. Unlike other biased ones. I had one cordless dewalt drill. After watching biased reviews I invested in m12 tools.but after using them for over a year, I tried Xtreme hammer drill. Impressed and returned the m12 drill and impact driver. Now getting xtreme dcf901. Slowing shifting over to dewalt. Sometimes power is not everything. You need control and precision.
@@WorkshopAddict You should try with bigger or longer screw or with harder wood and using that level 1, there is impact if needed. But keep push the trigger, it will slow a moment for the modul to measure if the application need impact or not, after that it will continue finish the job with very precise result . That's the function of that level 1.
level 1 stops then impacts one at a time., you just have to keep pressing, pulling the trigger, it works sooo great. i absolutely love DeWalt impacts because of that feature. level 2 is for longer construction screws, level 3 is when you need to go all out!!!!! 😅
this black friday 2021, i was trying to get a Milwaukee compact impact wrench, BUT could not find any deals. So i got the dewalt new atomic compact impact wrench that came with a 5amp battery for 199 at the home depot, then got this dewalt impact driver for 99$ bare tool at home depot. first time buying any dewalt power tools, have had milwaukee for years, but no decent deals, so i am gonna try out dewalt...
I know Milwaukee are generally faster, but to me, the difference between them is smaller than the difference in price is worth. I use DeWalt, the deals are just too good. Like I know these are entry level tools but the 787 and 887 are great tools for the price, I got the drill and driver with the newer 3ah cells for €200. Like you can't argue that that isn't fantastic value. The 787 doesn't have the levels but the trigger is so variable that you can still do delicate work.
I happen to have both and one fine point to mention.. The DEWALT DCF850B has a SPRING LOADED CHUCK to help push out the bit.. However due to the spring, bits that does not have the groove to lock in the bit will NOT WORK WELL on the DCF850B.. they keep getting pushed out. So you have to hold it down.. this is for light duty work only. The Milwaukee also needs grooved bits but it does not push it out so you can still use it for light jobs without having to hold the bit in. There are a lot of double sided hex bits today and some light to medium duty Makita drivers accepts them all.. as the chuck is very deep.
I own Dewalt and work with Milwaukee. Ive fouthat the latter seems more powerful. But more power ain’t always good when you’re snapping screws in maple
Excellent video! I enjoy the hell out of my m12s. Not always building walls and way comfy to hang from a pocket with a 2 ah batt. When the walls come in I get the m18 box. The m12 batteries don't seem to last. Even 3 6ah can't last half a day. And they're kinda spendy. They both make quality tools without a doubt.

@@kdc300z I agree. That was bs. Like it took them that long to add a second bearing to the collet. Dewalt has 1 bearing and no issue. They rush sometimes and cause mistakes
20+ years ago i started it out with craftsman then old blue ryobi, after i got real deep in the trade i witnessed how dewalt is reliable so i went with black and yellow... its been reliable never burnt a tool... (i use proper tools to drill holes). I do own milwaukee corded tools and i like their cordless lineup but their prices is so extremely pricey for seconds on difference to finish drilling a screw is not worth the dollars. I dont just have a set of drills, i have 90% of the lineup from table saw, miter saws (12"-10"), air compressors, cordless nailers, laser, grinder, bandsaw and all the tools a pro remodeler needs.
What's the point of shortening the length of the tool to the point of having your hand now almost touching the "chuck" whilst holding it (if you have big hands)? I don't get it. Moreover, the length of the battery is longer than the tool itself, so any gain in maneuverability by having a more compact tool is sort of meaningless, isn't it? Anyway, great video comparison. I just got this Dewalt in a combo package. It really came down to price and for the two being neck and neck mostly, Dewalt won on the price by far. It will do anything I'm going to ask of it as a diy'er but even if I was a pro it would be right at home.
Never heard the actual weight difference yet part of me just says go with Milwaukee yet as I’m buying my tools just for personal use I do have 2 son’s that will be eventually getting from me for their future use of home repair and car maintenance so I’m comparing both with batteries, accessories and other battery costs..

And to answer your DeWalt 887 example, well it's DeWalt - not my fault they have longer shelf Life before they release their upgrade. So yes for a Milwaukee the gen 3 is considered old and soon to be upgraded, but it's still a performance beast....
Good designed and upgrade for Dewalt. The rpm, torque & ipm are enough for any job really The home depot holiday sale for 99.00 barw tool is the right price for the new 850. Anything more is a ripoff.
I have the 887. I love it and level 1 does impact after holding the trigger after 1 second. I don't use mine as much now that I have the m12 fuel impact, but it is great nonetheless
How many lags would you say you drove in today? I install solar so I drive about 40+ 4.5” lags a day. I wanna know because I’m interested in this tool and whether it got too hot at one point.
@@acog_quarks8753 It was close to 60 lags into pine actual 2x6s down into 2.5"x 2.5" spindles for a timber frame porch I rebuilt. It did get a little warm so I gave it a break for a few minutes. I figured if I burnt it up, I would take it back. I'm now about a month in running 3-4" deck screws daily and it has been great. Still happy so far.
As a framer we don’t use impact drivers as drills , and the 850 is definitely smaller and better then the 887. I’d bet with the new 29v power pack dewalt battery the 850 would keep up with the Milwaukee fuel. Great channel great unbiased reviews
@@slylockfox85 It doesn't add anything drilling wood really. A pure strong, high Torque (not speed) drill so you don't have to fight vibrations is really nice to have. If i want to drill concrete, there are much better choices.
I agree with the drilling aspect of your comment, except for when it comes to drilling small pilot holes. Its nice to be able to quickly switch over with a small quick change bit that you can carry on your belt, to make the hole, rather than jump down run grab a drill while your boss is getting ready to have an aneurysm if you pull out even just one more tool😅
@@slylockfox85 impact drivers are very slow for tasks like these. If you use a drill and compare it you’d be amazed as even a cheap drill is significantly better at spades than an impact.
@@marcuszettergren8885 yes it does. Drilling with an impact will save your wrists a lot of pain vs a standard drill. I'm talking about not only immediate pain from the torque but longevity of your wrist health. Just wear earpro with them... Not to mention they are pretty much always smaller and lighter. And nobody drills in concrete with an impact... It doesn't work. Not sure why anyone would even mention that. Also, if you're working at an awkward angle an impact will always perform better. Again because the torque of the tool won't be snapping the tool around if you can't get the best hold on it.
Usually Milwaukee out-performs Dewalt, however, when it comes to delicate applications such as small screws and plastics, the Dewalt DCF601 is able to apply a lower torque than Milwaukee's lightest impact.
I want one of those. I own the predecessor version which is brushed. I haven't used it a lot and it still works but it would be nice to have the DCF601 as a nice backup unit. Plus maybe some 5 AH 12V batteries for it. Its delicate enough to take off face plate screws and drive them on without cracking the plate. I usually resort to mini electric screwdrivers for that but ya it can do lots of low torque things like that.
Was only given dewalt at work and started to hate it because it seemed so boring. Finally smoked the drill after 7 years of tough use. Begged for a Milwaukee replacement. Cant go wrong with either one. Boring is also good!
I know the Milwaukee 2853 has a collet problem, because there is a gen 3 and a 3.5 how I tell the difference without opening the box and visually inspecting the collet?
I will be buying the dewalt but I still don’t think I can do better than th m12 surge for installing small screws as the surge is much quieter but the SIZE of the dewalt is amazing and the power it has for such a small tool is where it takes the cake👍
the CP 3.0 does use 21700 cells and some 21700's can put out more than 18650's. There are high output 18650's that can do more amps than 21700's. There are so many variables. A great way to learn about batteries is to get into flashlights. When you look into Emistar D4V2 flashlights, people start to talk about the batteries needed and you will learn quickly about all of them. In tools, 21700's are what you want. The CP3.0 High Output (21700 cells) has the same power as the XC5.0 (18650 cells). I can replace my old XC4.0 batteries with smaller and lighter ones and get more power!
My two cents; I have both... I would give-up any time of day and night the half second extra speed (only in some scenarios faster), for the entire ONE INCH of more clearance. Reason being that I can afford to spend a second extra, but if I can't get into the given clearance, what then? As far as handling, I'd give it to yellow as well because even the 6Ah XR will be shorter than the 8Ah High Output of the red ones...
Just watched a video showing DeWalt has new 20V batteries ( Power Stack) offering longer run time I think. (tools in Action Video) leaving me more than a little confused.
Nice video , I understand what your doing , but I'm just Not a fan of using my impact driver to drill holes .... 1 or 2 holes or a tight space is fine , but I'm not going to drill with it all day , that's just me though....
Not to state the obvious but keep in mind that this new dewalt impact is their atomic line not xr line so when the dcf887 replacement comes out it should have higher specs.
People just like seeing what it can do against any other tool so they have a better idea of performance. This was pretty amazing if you ask me for an Atomic tool.
Great vid! My local HD has a kit with the 850, 805 drill, two 4amp batteries with charger. What’s your option on this kit with the 805 drill ??? I know dewalt just released the 840 & 845. I don’t wanna regret making a buy. I don’t need a ton of power but want power when it’s needed. Someone mentioned in the comments that these need grove to lock bits or they’ll push out. Did you have this issue ?? Can’t you buy another quick release or am I thinking of something different or is this not really an issue to worry about? Any info will be gratefully appreciated! P.S. I love my Dewalt tools! I have also used Milwaukee for a while and I will probably not use them again. Sure, they have way more power, but they controllability is lost. For someone making furniture, the Milwaukee tools are not my choice. Also the battery life is pretty bad… but on the Dewalt tools, they don’t have that trigger lag, they are more controllable, and the battery lasts much longer. It is also cheaper than Milwaukee which is a plus for me. Makita also is really good, but for the price, I don’t think I will stick with them. Dewalt is also a USA based company, which is a big plus for me, unlike Milwaukee. I will say Milwaukee is good for people on job sites where power matters, but other than that, that don’t really have a place in the workshop… but that 850 has me sold!
My M12 impact driver does the job, don't know why you need super impact drivers that bust driver bits apart. If I need to turn something bigger, I bust out my 3/8" stubby.
I would actually say this is a step in the right direction less power and much smaller size. I hope Milwaukee follows and shrinks the size for I think Gen 4 but maintains or closely maintains some of the power from Gen 3.
Ive always liked dewalt drivers over milwaukee because the dewalt is liter. With 5ah batteries the Milwaukee is about 1 lb heavier. As an electrician that's using mostly small fasteners with a driver I stay away from brushless drivers too. My 887 is many years old and still looks almost brand new. I find that brushless drivers love to break the small things I use it for. Love the 2ah battery too. That's all I use on a driver for the most part.

The dewalt didn't claim to be more powerful but dewalt closer to its specks, the Milwaukee wasn't that much more powerful but the 40v Makita wasn't even close to either one
@@TorqueTestChannel there's a reason I bought the M18 mid-torque: so I don't have to try and use my M18 Surge to drive large lags and break bolts loose. I will get a 12V impact wrench to handle smaller things, and it will probably be the DeWalt dcf901 that you tested. Stronger than a M12 stubby?! Yes, please! I'm completely monogamous in my marriage, but I have no problem loving more than one tool brand.

This new dewalt its a cool little impact !! I run the milwaukee daily and i try this new dewalt found it very uncomfortable . I prefer my milwaukee impact still compact and much more powerfull. We get use to the stiff triger when doing delicate work, but when its time to screw 3"1/2 it goes fast almost no impacting
I'd rather buy the old dcf887 or dcf888. This new DeWalt impact driver can't convince me to get the upgrade. Same Torque, same RPM Range and same impacts per minute. Only a stubby looking body and more compact than atomic but my old dcf887 and dcf888 are still compact size enough and lightweight too. Otherwise for extreme weather applications my Hitachi brushless triple hammer impact driver is still the King, IP-56 rated 🌧️🌨️❄️🌤️🌦️🍃🌡️ all weather Impact Driver. dropped the tool in the ice cold bucket of water, or in the ice or snow the tool still works like hell compare to the expensive Milwaukee my buddy accidentally dropped his M18 gen 3 in the puddle of mud and his $300 tool is a trash.
My Makita 40v is ip56 rated as well. I don’t mean to bash but the quality on dewalt 887 seems really hit and miss. A guy I worked with has one and the chuck would wobble around and seemed loose in the case, also there’s no heat sensor and I’ve known people who almost burned them down. But I’ve known people who love them and have had no problems so🤷🏼♂️
@@adamfehr1994 only Hitachi/Metabo and Makita have the IP-56 Capabilities so Far. Only 2 choices so far. If I'm working on a dry environment I'll be using my DeWalt XR dcf887 or dcf888 with only 8.0ah battery, but IF I'm working on light snow rain, with little bit of rain and ice then I use my Hitachi Triple Hammer Impact Driver IP-56 36V. I hope there's a IP-56 rated circular saw as well!
Hey Brian, have you seen or tested the dewalt sawzall dcs382 ? It has the most spm at 3200 and 1 1/8 stroke… I see no reviews on it but shouldn’t it be the most powerful?
i think now that i have the atomic it was a good choice because it has plenty enough power but very nice to have the choice for two tools that are same same but diferent
Dewalt has put battery life and power over slight diffrence in speed. My coworker is a rigid and Milwaukee guy and some tools feel better than my Dewalt but I'm always way ahead in the battery life department. He's constantly switching batteries and I literally go all day without switching a battery.
Nice review I owned both but my everyday drill The new Atomic Dewalt it’s way more comfortable smaller and with the new powerstack battery it works great

I recomend reading the manual so you understand level one. The 887 does the same

Level 1 smart setting with no impact is excellent, especially when working with 1/4 metal or brass screws that strip easily.
For certain situations it is genius and others I want a normal level 1.
It impacts. Keep holding g the trigger and it will start a really slow impact
@@WorkshopAddict You should try with bigger or longer screw or with harder wood and using that level 1, there is impact if needed. But keep push the trigger, it will slow a moment for the modul to measure if the application need impact or not, after that it will continue finish the job with very precise result .
That's the function of that level 1.
level 1 stops then impacts one at a time., you just have to keep pressing, pulling the trigger, it works sooo great. i absolutely love DeWalt impacts because of that feature. level 2 is for longer construction screws, level 3 is when you need to go all out!!!!! 😅
this black friday 2021, i was trying to get a Milwaukee compact impact wrench, BUT could not find any deals. So i got the dewalt new atomic compact impact wrench that came with a 5amp battery for 199 at the home depot, then got this dewalt impact driver for 99$ bare tool at home depot.
first time buying any dewalt power tools, have had milwaukee for years, but no decent deals, so i am gonna try out dewalt...
There are very few tool deals this year.
I know Milwaukee are generally faster, but to me, the difference between them is smaller than the difference in price is worth. I use DeWalt, the deals are just too good. Like I know these are entry level tools but the 787 and 887 are great tools for the price, I got the drill and driver with the newer 3ah cells for €200. Like you can't argue that that isn't fantastic value. The 787 doesn't have the levels but the trigger is so variable that you can still do delicate work.
I happen to have both and one fine point to mention.. The DEWALT DCF850B has a SPRING LOADED CHUCK to help push out the bit.. However due to the spring, bits that does not have the groove to lock in the bit will NOT WORK WELL on the DCF850B.. they keep getting pushed out. So you have to hold it down.. this is for light duty work only.
The Milwaukee also needs grooved bits but it does not push it out so you can still use it for light jobs without having to hold the bit in.
There are a lot of double sided hex bits today and some light to medium duty Makita drivers accepts them all.. as the chuck is very deep.

I own Dewalt and work with Milwaukee. Ive fouthat the latter seems more powerful. But more power ain’t always good when you’re snapping screws in maple

I enjoy the hell out of my m12s. Not always building walls and way comfy to hang from a pocket with a 2 ah batt. When the walls come in I get the m18 box. The m12 batteries don't seem to last. Even 3 6ah can't last half a day. And they're kinda spendy.
They both make quality tools without a doubt.
I’m still a Dewalt guy. That’s the platform I’m most in. Milwaukee always exceptional. Surprised it didn’t have a collett issue.

20+ years ago i started it out with craftsman then old blue ryobi, after i got real deep in the trade i witnessed how dewalt is reliable so i went with black and yellow... its been reliable never burnt a tool... (i use proper tools to drill holes).
I do own milwaukee corded tools and i like their cordless lineup but their prices is so extremely pricey for seconds on difference to finish drilling a screw is not worth the dollars. I dont just have a set of drills, i have 90% of the lineup from table saw, miter saws (12"-10"), air compressors, cordless nailers, laser, grinder, bandsaw and all the tools a pro remodeler needs.

I feel like the dewalt 3ah and 4ah batteries are even better than the 5ah as they use the 2100 cell batteries instead of 18650

What's the point of shortening the length of the tool to the point of having your hand now almost touching the "chuck" whilst holding it (if you have big hands)? I don't get it. Moreover, the length of the battery is longer than the tool itself, so any gain in maneuverability by having a more compact tool is sort of meaningless, isn't it? Anyway, great video comparison. I just got this Dewalt in a combo package. It really came down to price and for the two being neck and neck mostly, Dewalt won on the price by far. It will do anything I'm going to ask of it as a diy'er but even if I was a pro it would be right at home.

Pretty old ???? Dcf887 has been around for over 6 years while gen 3 has been out for 3 .. Gen 2, 3 years , gen 1, 3 years

And to answer your DeWalt 887 example, well it's DeWalt - not my fault they have longer shelf Life before they release their upgrade. So yes for a Milwaukee the gen 3 is considered old and soon to be upgraded, but it's still a performance beast....

I have the 887. I love it and level 1 does impact after holding the trigger after 1 second. I don't use mine as much now that I have the m12 fuel impact, but it is great nonetheless

How many lags would you say you drove in today? I install solar so I drive about 40+ 4.5” lags a day. I wanna know because I’m interested in this tool and whether it got too hot at one point.
@@acog_quarks8753 It was close to 60 lags into pine actual 2x6s down into 2.5"x 2.5" spindles for a timber frame porch I rebuilt. It did get a little warm so I gave it a break for a few minutes. I figured if I burnt it up, I would take it back. I'm now about a month in running 3-4" deck screws daily and it has been great. Still happy so far.

As a framer we don’t use impact drivers as drills , and the 850 is definitely smaller and better then the 887. I’d bet with the new 29v power pack dewalt battery the 850 would keep up with the Milwaukee fuel.

@@slylockfox85 It doesn't add anything drilling wood really. A pure strong, high Torque (not speed) drill so you don't have to fight vibrations is really nice to have. If i want to drill concrete, there are much better choices.
I agree with the drilling aspect of your comment, except for when it comes to drilling small pilot holes. Its nice to be able to quickly switch over with a small quick change bit that you can carry on your belt, to make the hole, rather than jump down run grab a drill while your boss is getting ready to have an aneurysm if you pull out even just one more tool😅
@@slylockfox85 impact drivers are very slow for tasks like these. If you use a drill and compare it you’d be amazed as even a cheap drill is significantly better at spades than an impact.
@@marcuszettergren8885 yes it does. Drilling with an impact will save your wrists a lot of pain vs a standard drill. I'm talking about not only immediate pain from the torque but longevity of your wrist health. Just wear earpro with them... Not to mention they are pretty much always smaller and lighter.
And nobody drills in concrete with an impact... It doesn't work. Not sure why anyone would even mention that.
Also, if you're working at an awkward angle an impact will always perform better. Again because the torque of the tool won't be snapping the tool around if you can't get the best hold on it.
Level one is not screw mode it’s precision mode and it does impact when using it correctly
Usually Milwaukee out-performs Dewalt, however, when it comes to delicate applications such as small screws and plastics, the Dewalt DCF601 is able to apply a lower torque than Milwaukee's lightest impact.
I want one of those. I own the predecessor version which is brushed. I haven't used it a lot and it still works but it would be nice to have the DCF601 as a nice backup unit. Plus maybe some 5 AH 12V batteries for it. Its delicate enough to take off face plate screws and drive them on without cracking the plate. I usually resort to mini electric screwdrivers for that but ya it can do lots of low torque things like that.
Was only given dewalt at work and started to hate it because it seemed so boring. Finally smoked the drill after 7 years of tough use. Begged for a Milwaukee replacement. Cant go wrong with either one. Boring is also good!

I know the Milwaukee 2853 has a collet problem, because there is a gen 3 and a 3.5 how I tell the difference without opening the box and visually inspecting the collet?
I will be buying the dewalt but I still don’t think I can do better than th m12 surge for installing small screws as the surge is much quieter but the SIZE of the dewalt is amazing and the power it has for such a small tool is where it takes the cake👍

does the milwaukee 3 ah battery use the 21700 cells like dewalt does ? if so they can output higher current than the standard 18650 cells
the CP 3.0 does use 21700 cells and some 21700's can put out more than 18650's. There are high output 18650's that can do more amps than 21700's. There are so many variables. A great way to learn about batteries is to get into flashlights. When you look into Emistar D4V2 flashlights, people start to talk about the batteries needed and you will learn quickly about all of them. In tools, 21700's are what you want. The CP3.0 High Output (21700 cells) has the same power as the XC5.0 (18650 cells). I can replace my old XC4.0 batteries with smaller and lighter ones and get more power!

My two cents; I have both... I would give-up any time of day and night the half second extra speed (only in some scenarios faster), for the entire ONE INCH of more clearance. Reason being that I can afford to spend a second extra, but if I can't get into the given clearance, what then? As far as handling, I'd give it to yellow as well because even the 6Ah XR will be shorter than the 8Ah High Output of the red ones...

Nice video , I understand what your doing , but I'm just Not a fan of using my impact driver to drill holes .... 1 or 2 holes or a tight space is fine , but I'm not going to drill with it all day , that's just me though....
Racing to drive lags is hard. The faster a hole is drilled or larger, the faster it would drive a large lag.
Not to state the obvious but keep in mind that this new dewalt impact is their atomic line not xr line so when the dcf887 replacement comes out it should have higher specs.
People just like seeing what it can do against any other tool so they have a better idea of performance. This was pretty amazing if you ask me for an Atomic tool.
Dewalt just came out with there battery stack line which apparently gives all tools more power and run time

Great vid! My local HD has a kit with the 850, 805 drill, two 4amp batteries with charger. What’s your option on this kit with the 805 drill ??? I know dewalt just released the 840 & 845. I don’t wanna regret making a buy. I don’t need a ton of power but want power when it’s needed. Someone mentioned in the comments that these need grove to lock bits or they’ll push out. Did you have this issue ?? Can’t you buy another quick release or am I thinking of something different or is this not really an issue to worry about? Any info will be gratefully appreciated!

I love my Dewalt tools! I have also used Milwaukee for a while and I will probably not use them again. Sure, they have way more power, but they controllability is lost. For someone making furniture, the Milwaukee tools are not my choice. Also the battery life is pretty bad… but on the Dewalt tools, they don’t have that trigger lag, they are more controllable, and the battery lasts much longer. It is also cheaper than Milwaukee which is a plus for me. Makita also is really good, but for the price, I don’t think I will stick with them. Dewalt is also a USA based company, which is a big plus for me, unlike Milwaukee. I will say Milwaukee is good for people on job sites where power matters, but other than that, that don’t really have a place in the workshop… but that 850 has me sold!

My M12 impact driver does the job, don't know why you need super impact drivers that bust driver bits apart. If I need to turn something bigger, I bust out my 3/8" stubby.
I would actually say this is a step in the right direction less power and much smaller size. I hope Milwaukee follows and shrinks the size for I think Gen 4 but maintains or closely maintains some of the power from Gen 3.
Ive always liked dewalt drivers over milwaukee because the dewalt is liter. With 5ah batteries the Milwaukee is about 1 lb heavier. As an electrician that's using mostly small fasteners with a driver I stay away from brushless drivers too. My 887 is many years old and still looks almost brand new. I find that brushless drivers love to break the small things I use it for. Love the 2ah battery too. That's all I use on a driver for the most part.

The dewalt didn't claim to be more powerful but dewalt closer to its specks, the Milwaukee wasn't that much more powerful but the 40v Makita wasn't even close to either one

I will get a 12V impact wrench to handle smaller things, and it will probably be the DeWalt dcf901 that you tested. Stronger than a M12 stubby?! Yes, please! I'm completely monogamous in my marriage, but I have no problem loving more than one tool brand.

This new dewalt its a cool little impact !! I run the milwaukee daily and i try this new dewalt found it very uncomfortable . I prefer my milwaukee impact still compact and much more powerfull. We get use to the stiff triger when doing delicate work, but when its time to screw 3"1/2 it goes fast almost no impacting

I'd rather buy the old dcf887 or dcf888. This new DeWalt impact driver can't convince me to get the upgrade. Same Torque, same RPM Range and same impacts per minute. Only a stubby looking body and more compact than atomic but my old dcf887 and dcf888 are still compact size enough and lightweight too. Otherwise for extreme weather applications my Hitachi brushless triple hammer impact driver is still the King, IP-56 rated 🌧️🌨️❄️🌤️🌦️🍃🌡️ all weather Impact Driver. dropped the tool in the ice cold bucket of water, or in the ice or snow the tool still works like hell compare to the expensive Milwaukee my buddy accidentally dropped his M18 gen 3 in the puddle of mud and his $300 tool is a trash.
My Makita 40v is ip56 rated as well. I don’t mean to bash but the quality on dewalt 887 seems really hit and miss. A guy I worked with has one and the chuck would wobble around and seemed loose in the case, also there’s no heat sensor and I’ve known people who almost burned them down. But I’ve known people who love them and have had no problems so🤷🏼♂️
@@adamfehr1994 only Hitachi/Metabo and Makita have the IP-56 Capabilities so Far. Only 2 choices so far. If I'm working on a dry environment I'll be using my DeWalt XR dcf887 or dcf888 with only 8.0ah battery, but IF I'm working on light snow rain, with little bit of rain and ice then I use my Hitachi Triple Hammer Impact Driver IP-56 36V. I hope there's a IP-56 rated circular saw as well!

Dewalt has put battery life and power over slight diffrence in speed. My coworker is a rigid and Milwaukee guy and some tools feel better than my Dewalt but I'm always way ahead in the battery life department. He's constantly switching batteries and I literally go all day without switching a battery.
