Hi Rex. I am in PSD at the moment. I wanted tankers(I'm from just outside Chicago). Recruiter said no tanker spots open. So they put me in flatbed division. New CDL student. In Springfield. Day 2
Hey Rex, what would you say the biggest be if it’s are to leasing rather than just being employed with prime and letting them pay for all the maintenance?
I'm heading to Prime orientation next month and I've been watching a lot of your videos because tanker driving seems interesting and like something I might like. Thanks for the great videos and all the useful info!
Soon as you hit the road that air pressure in those tires will go up, it’s a waste of time to air them up unless they’re really low, just a tip from a retired us army driver
I caught a glimpse of your truck in Meadville. Saw TH-cam on the side and I've searched a lot of channels trying to figure out who it was. Finally found you. Hopefully Meadville always treats you well when you're here.
Haha, the very first dock I was on with my truck. I had the same clutch switch issue . Road assist told me to do the same thing with the switch. Only mine was made in 2021 during the plandemic, and got sent past that production process. Ra asked how mechanically inclined I was, lol, had to manually disconnect the batteries and wait 30 min to reconnect. It worked, but it was in San Diego in August, very hot.Great memory of starting out 😂
Tip on the air hose, cut it and put a quick connect on either side. I cut mine because I have inflators on the trailer and never need it that long. I thought prime was the same way with inflators on all their trailers. It’s a lot easier with 10’ of hose instead of 40’ or whatever you have. And, get a tire inflator with a pressure gauge and a connector on it. MUCH easier.
Meadville pa. That’s my neck of the woods. I’ve never delivered tanker there but I delivered with a bottom hopper there and I sat there for 16 hours 😅 but Mainly because paperwork the shipper didn’t give me
I used to work in a petro in Elkton Md, and a tire 20psi low was a flat tire. Even time I talk with drivers with super singles say they get a flat, they are stuck on the side of the road, and wish they had duels.
What's up Rex! I swear, when that surge hits you backwards while you're taken off, that's shit feels like something is gonna break? LOL My boot camp trainer (really good guy) did not show me that jumper hose trick with the pump. Man, I like your way bc it does not put so much bend and pressure on the hose. I once ended up having a small leak in my jumper hose bc of the pressure from the bend. Thanks for showing us that little trick. I did not even think of it. Keep up the good work man. Be safe and keep on trucking!
Watching Rex trucking on Sunday afternoon know it's not my rig but liked ur first semi short nose black Peterbilt although blue Freightliner Cassida @ detail truck shop looked slick
Its in the wiring harness. Wires are rubbing/ touching. I had a Cascadia like yours for the last two years. That's what my problem was when it did that in mine.
I pull smooth bore tankers also, I feel like I can control the surge better with a manual transmission, we have 2 autos in our fleet now, but I try not to use them. I don’t like them, prefer to stay in my manual
REX! Long time no vid! LOL! So, I finally graduated CDL school and accepted a job with Keim TS its a flatbed company with all Kenworth equipment. Ill hit ya on the email and tell you more about it!
Im going to trucking school this coming fall and well im going for a tanker endorsement which is what i want to do , something new and also am studying with the cdl manual , as a current yard dog i know about intermodal and refers trailers and they suck LOL , but again im aiming to do something new and tanker endorsement is what im interested in doing, and your videos are help me whats going on apart from driving, paperwork, etc and its interesting, hopefully i can begin hitting the road soon and as seeing your video prime inc is the way to go
I’m thinking of re-entering the trucking industry again after nearly 14 years away. Because I didn’t renew/keep my CDL so l’ll have to do training again. Have been looking at Prime hard and looking at tankers as my option. Done my fair share of grocery warehouses and don’t want to go that path again. I currently reside in Pottsville Arkansas. Do you think this division would work for me in regards to hometime?
@@truckingwithrex don’t flatter yourself. It’s unbecoming. Vloggers have ruined this industry. If you can’t tell by the market we’re in now. Let’s just keep recruiting more drivers in, what could go wrong?
Could somebody who knows the Prime Lingo please explain what all the acronyms stand for to those of us who don't know? Example psd, tnt, blah, blah etc? Thank you
PSD=the training phase when your learning to get your CDL license TNT=over the road training with a trainer after you get your CDL license. After TNT you go through the upgrade process (this is where you choose to go company or lease) go lease you look at trucks and test drive them etc. hope this helps!
Going through some stressful times and having something to watch that takes my mind off of things is a great help. So thank you for posting and thank you for setting a good example for others to model. One more thing... Those large cylindrical things are called Silo's, not Stilo's.
Currently at our Minooka terminal. It’s way too small for orientation man.😂 it’s pretty much only a shop terminal. Orientation is in Springfield Salt Lake in Pittston only.
I'm surprised how full all the truck stops and rest stops are, what will it be like in 10, 20 yrs., Oh, I guess it will all be driverless trucks that don't need a rest.
When I met you in New York I thought you would be friendly because you give off a friendly personality but I guess that doesn’t apply to black folks …. Smh it’s actually sad but wat can I expect from a white Person who stays in MO
Man don't nobody give a flying fuck about your skin color dude was on my truck for months when I was training him and I talk to him daily trust me this mofo is far from racist

Nah just been super busy outside of work etc
lol with the aggressiveness of the surge man I would’ve thought it was a load of eggs.
Lol, they loaded it light so created more surge for me…
You drove thru my hometown Clarksville crossed the river to Scranton, AR went over to River Valley byproducts?
Yeah we do drop and hooks out of there everyday or every other day 🤙✌️
gotta get some weather tech mats helps alot with all the dirtieness
On the list, been on there for a while lol
Another tip for the air hose is to buy the rubber one. The plastic ones suck
That’s my plan when this hose is done. Started cheap. I was broke lol

I have my tanker endorsement. But Do you Gotta have hazmat endorsement to haul the tanks?? And Do there trucks still run 65?
Yep we run 65 😭 no HAZMAT needed at prime
A Rex do that new Freightliner have a video camera in your face on the driver side of your tractor truck?
Nope not in my truck! I’m pretty sure if prime decides to do this fleet wide a lot of drivers will bounce imho

That’s a good question, honestly 🤷♂️ I would guess 3-4yrs ago it’s pretty new
how long have u had d lincoln ? wat kind of fuel economy do u get?
They don't wash your windshield when they fuel you up?

Lol true then I usually pass them because they are in a ditch
4 days into my psd phase. Excited to keep learning and be out on the road one day.
