    You do excellent work. And I have also used Standox, as well as Envirobase. You can’t beat Standox. That being said, would you consider leaving a job to go spray a better product elsewhere?

    They must have just made it so you can put 2 coats at a time. They would have to strengthen the toners to get better coverage. I think motivated painters only lets it half dry before next coat.
    Since I do fleet I get away with bad colors. I do try but I will blend everything if I have to. The camera can say it's a great match and it's not close.
    If you want to see how I spray I put some videos up on my channel. I cannot video cars so no intentions of doing many. Lets me see what I do.

      @glen4407 dude that's awesome, I've subscribed.
      Yea I watched how motivated painters does his, I've been applying it similar to spies hekker because that's what I'm used to. Two pretty wet coats straight after each other. But I'm getting the hang of it now. 👍

      @BoundByHonor700 honestly the paint is OK it's a good system, but colour matching is the only issue. It probably would be OK if we could do spray cards before the car went into the booth but in this workshop we just don't seem to have time to do them. I have suggested whoever is prepping the car to do a spray out and whoever is painting to clear coat them. That way we have an idea of if it needs adjusting.

      @@paulphillipspaintwork yh i dont have much time either for sprayouts the tricky colours i would do them before no matter what but usually i just do them while spraying the car but really you should them before then check before actually applying on the vehicle. Im suing sikkens as our main brand but we also have syrox whoch is part of axalta so anything less than 3 years old its getting syrox… the newer cars all sikkens. They both work orite never used PPG but your not first person to talk about the colour matching issues let me tell u.

    Hi Paul, lovely colour and a superb finish but it must be very frustrating when you have to fight the system to get a good colour match which makes your job a lot harder plus it takes longer, you'll have to tell the boss to change the paint scheme and get one that works, I think I would fit right in there as I can always blame the system if it's miles off🤔🤭
    I tell you what mate even when you use the light to check for coverage I just don't see what you are seeing maybe it's my colour blindness but all the light does for me is make everything look brighter🤷‍♂I have the same problem when I'm painting and I use my light I can't tell if there is coverage or not, I normally do a light coat then 2 full coats with a drop and call it done🤣for all I know it could be as patchy AF!!🫣🤦‍♂🧐😆

    • @paulphillipspaintwork
      @paulphillipspaintwork  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @JohnWD40TC02 lol I'd love for a company to just change paint but in reality they are often tide to contacts plus they cost a fortune lol.
      Ppg is good paint and I would love to do spray outs to check the colour before I paint every job but just doesn't happen. I'm getting the hang of ppg tho it's just you can't trust the system like I trust Axelta systems lol

    Is this ppg system? Im working at accident repair centre and we use sikkens autowave 2.0 been here 3 monts and never had a problem so far with colour matching. Aslong as you using wet on wet undercoat and on blend panels the colour is great.

    • @paulphillipspaintwork
      @paulphillipspaintwork  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@BoundByHonor700 agreed sikkens is great stuff. It's also very easy to do a correction step if you do get a bad colour.

    • @glen440
      @glen440 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Does autowave show the ground coat on the computer? I use Imperium which uses autowave database and just says it's not available. Color match is pretty bad. The only good thing I can say is adhesion is incredible, I do fleet so I get to fix the same cars over and over so I durability test the paint when it comes back.
      I try to do sprayouts while painting a different car. I can count on my hands how many colors were dead on and we have had the system for a few months. Fleet is mostly metallic black, gray and silver.

    • @paulphillipspaintwork
      @paulphillipspaintwork  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @glen4407 fleet work is pretty good as your doing the same colours over and over you get a chance to find the most common variants.
      I'm not using autowave at the min so I'm not sure, but a rep told me if your not sure what ground coat you can take a photo of the car and use the black and white filter and the colour of the car will most likely be the grey shade you want.

      @@paulphillipspaintworkI spray sikkens autobase , the way I was told when I went to class was you get your sealer deck and you look at the hard flop of the car . If it turns black you use a black sealer . What is kinda odd with sikkens most of the time I find myself going for black on most metallics , silvers , and super transparent colors . That really helped my coverage learning that . Then I started getting my camera shots and shooting them over 4 to 5 different sealer shades at once and the way that under coat changes the color is insane . I just spray 4 or 5 sprayout cards with leftover sealer for later use for sprayout cards

    Time it takes to finesse a product, and mixing more product to cover, does not save money! I don’t care how cheap it is. When you do the calculation, it will show the savings, by using a better quality system. Less tinting, less coat = more time, more time = more $, more cycle times. You can see how happy Kandyman is, on his videos, when he switched to Glasurit.
